7:00 A.M- Annabeth's House

BEEP BEEP BEEP

I sat up and groaned, reaching over to slam my hand down on my alarm clock, I must've slammed my hand down too hard because my clock fell off my bedside table with a loud thud. Today, I had to endure my second day of detention. I guess it wasn't all that bad, if anything I could catch up on some sleep or continue with a book I've been really into recently, it's called War and Peace written by Leo Tolstoy. This book is so good, but it is really freaking long.

Anyways, I dragged myself out of bed, got dressed, and went down the stairs and into the kitchen.

I sat down at the table and grabbed a blueberry bagel and quickly ate it. As I finished, the she-devil of a stepmother Helen whom I have to put up with walked in. Soon after my dad Fredrick walked in as well.

"Morning, Pumpkin." He said.

I glared at my stepmother and then said good morning back to him. I looked at the clock on the stove.

It read 7:30 A.M- Time to head to school.

My dad's tie was crooked so I helped him fix it. My cousins Bobby and Matthew were not up yet, and I'm fairly certain that Helen would kill me if I woke them up.

I grabbed my bookbag and hurried out the door shouting a "Love you" to my dad once more, before walking out the front door. I pulled out my phone and texted my best friend Thalia to ask if she'd drive me to school. Since my parents still did not trust me enough to own my own car.

"Hey, Good morning Thals, do you mind driving me to school because I don't have a car?"- I texted.

"No problem Annabeth, be right there."- She texted back.

"Thanks, see you shortly."- I texted her, before sticking my phone back in my pocket.

She pulled up five minutes later and rolled down her window.

"Sorry, it took so long to get here." She said with an apologetic smile.

"It's fine," I said walking around to get into the passengers' side.

The ride to school was met with silence, I could've walked there since the school was only fifteen minutes away, but it doesn't matter.

I don't know why that Jackson kid annoys me so damn much. I sat there with a glum look on my face. Now, Thalia knows me pretty well, and as a matter of fact, she can definitely read the expression on my face. I was staring at the floorboard of her car and didn't realize that she had asked me something.

She waved her hand in front of my face saying." Earth to Annabeth Rosaliene Chase."

I swatted her hand out of my face and I mumbled something under my breath that she couldn't hear.

At least, I don't think she heard me.

"Hmm, what was that?" Thalia asked me again without taking her eyes off of the road. Crap, she did hear me.

"I said that I'm fine, I just didn't sleep well," I said with some finality seemingly ending that conversation. Even though I hated lying to my best friend since 2nd grade, telling her about Jackson wouldn't seem like a good idea.

Here's why: Thalia is not only ADHD like me, but she doesn't know when to stop teasing me about meeting someone new, guy or girl for that matter. She wants to know everything; to be frank it's not really any of her business.
