"Well, here goes nothing", she grumbled, before clearing her throat and saying, "Klaus, we need to talk."
"Do we, indeed?", Klaus drawled.
"Yes. I need to say it and you need to hear it. I'm sorry Klaus, I'm sorry.", Elexis said softly.
"For which of your sins? Am I to listen as you stand trial for all your mistakes? Let us begin with the past week shall we? You defy me to come here, and then go on to do something this ridiculous.", said Klaus, further antagonizing Elexis.
"What a relief, his ego is in check", sighed Rebekah. The others laughed as Elexis and Klaus continued having a staring contest.
"Well, what do you want me to say, Nik? Apologize for protecting my town, my family? I'm not gonna do that, and you know it", asked Elexis, exasperation creeping into her voice.
"Oh I do know that. But do you expect me to be okay with you sacrificing yourself? Killing yourself? How could you! " shouted Klaus, and threw the glass, which smashed near the wall next to Elexis, who did not even flinch.
Noah had his gun pointed at Klaus the next second, "Now I for one, don't care if you're older than the planet, but try this shit again and I'll kill you."
" , I assure you, Elexis is merely amusing my brother. He's in one of his fabulous tempers. She could smite him right now, if that is what she wanted", Elijah said, placing a hand on Noah's shoulder.
Elexis rolled her eyes at Klaus' antics and smiled briefly at her father and Elijah before moving towards Klaus and enveloping her hand in his own, bringing the other one to his face so that their eyes met.
"Hey, look at me. I'm right here. With you. And I'm not leaving. I'm not going anywhere", Elexis reassured the man, who had lost so much during the course of his life, that he had been extremely hesitant in letting her in.
Without speaking, Klaus grabbed Elexis' face and pulled her in for a kiss. It was passionate, and Elexis let Klaus take control, knowing that he needed it at the moment.
When someone cleared their throat, they separate, with Klaus and Elexis wearing small smiles.
"As glad as I am that you got that out of the way, please don't make me witness that ever again. I'm scarred for life", complained Stiles.
Elexis stuck her tongue out. ""Oh please, if I can see you too puppies", she points at Derek and then focuses back on Stiles, "making moon eyes all day long without throwing up, you can too."
Laughter erupted across the room as Kol swayed his head and took a dib at Klaus, "You know brother, an anger display was perhaps not the best way to impress the parents", he motioned towards Noah, whose hand was still twitching over the gun.
Klaus looked at Elexis' father sheepishly and apologized for reacting the way he did, before turning to Elexis, "You had me worried, love. I was anxious throughout the flight and seeing you like that, without your usual jubilance, I never want to feel like that again."
Elexis' features softened as she hugged Klaus and whispered in his ear, "Now you know why I couldn't let the guy my brother loves die."
Klaus nodded and hugged her back ferociously, breathing in the scent of his lover.
Marcel clapped his hands, "Alright storytime is over! You lot", he pointed to the Beacon Hills pack,"go home. We've all had very tiresome days and we'll meet tomorrow to talk. Take the day off, recuperate." He then turned to his family from New Orleans, "we too, need the day off. Esther is still a threat, and we need to be at our best before we can fight her again. And you," he pointed at Elexis, "little miss-the-world-is-on-my-shoulders, need rest." Elexis shrugged and raised her hands in a motion to indicate that she agreed.
Sensing the tone of finality in Marcel's voice, everyone began piling out of the mansion. Noah extracted a promise from Elexis, that she would come over for dinner the next night and subsequently bring her friends as well. She agreed and kissed her father goodbye.
It was just afternoon when the last of the pack left and the remaining people decided to rest or catch up with work from back home.
Elexis led Klaus to a bedroom upstairs and set up a sound blocking charm, before Klaus was on her. He threw her on the bed, after which they spent quite some time reacquainting themselves with each other's bodies and whispering sweet nothings and assurances in each other's ears.
Later that evening, Klaus and Elexis took Hope for a ride around the city and ended the tour with the best milkshakes in the city.
They all slept peacefully that night, the threat of Esther still lingering in their minds, but nothing more than a distant worry.
