I wanna thank everyone who read this story, you all gave me faith that I do have a future as a writer. As a farewell, here's an epilogue chapter. As always, I hope you like it.

Don't do it Rin

By Ghazi

Three years later:

It's been three years since those life changing events. Today, marks the three year anniversary of Miku's and Len's deaths. Three years ago, this exact date, they were murdered. It was just a few minutes after he had proposed to her. When Rin found out, she had lost her will to live. She just couldn't get over losing her brother and her best friend, just when she thought they were gonna get married. She and her friend Gumi then figured out who did it. When the evidence they found was destroyed, Gumi offered her to go together with her and get revenge on the killer. Rin accepted without thought, something she regrets now. Once she got revenge, she felt empty, she didn't knew what was she suppose to do now. Luckily, she had a life recovery. Now she's one of the most respected officers in her department. To think, she was the most inept officer before these tragic events, and now she's really good at her job. Even though today's the death anniversary of her beloved brother and her best friend for almost two decades, this is not a day of mourning. This is a day of celebrating their lives. Because Miku and Lem wouldn't want Rin to be sad when thinking about them. Which is why, every year on their death anniversary, Rin celebrates everything they did and meant to her instead of being sad, because that's what they would want.

She still lives with her parents, she has no interest in being in a relationship. She'd rather live with her aging parents and take care of them in their retirement. Besides, she loves this house, always had since childhood. She has a picture of her, Miku, and Len from childhood in her hands right now. She's smiling as she looks at the picture. In the picture, it was the then 12 years old Miku in middle who was then the tallest, and the then 9 years old twins on the left and right of Miku who were noticeably shorter than her. This picture is a symbol of their bond, their friendship, and their love for eachother. Rin looks at the picture for a while before putting it back on the wall.

"Can't believe you guys have been gone for three years now," she said as she looked at the picture with a smile "don't worry, I'll never let your memories go away, especially today."

Rin suddenly heard a door bell. She was stoked to see who it is. She opened the door, it was Gumi on her wheelchair, and it was Piko who carried her on the wheelchair here.

"It's great to see you guys." Rin was pleased to see two friends.

"Sorry to disturb you on the death anniversary." Gumi apologized.

"No need for an apology, I'm happy you came." she said kindly.

"Well, maybe it's time for me to reveal why I came." Gumi said.

"Go ahead." Rin was interested.

"Well, since you like celebrating Miku's memory," Gumi said "let's go shopping like we used to."

Rin got a little emotional "We haven't gone shopping since we lost her."

Miku, Rin, and Gumi used to go out shopping whenever the three of them could do it. It was their girls' night out. It was also a symbol of friendship. They haven't gone shopping since they've lost her. They just didn't thought it was the same.

"So what do you say? For Miku's memory." Gumi asked.

"I'll go, Miku wouldn't want us to stop having fun because she's gone." Rin accepted.

"That's the spirit!" Piko said.

"I hope you have fun with us." Rin said to Piko.

When Gumi bailed Piko out, he didn't felt he deserved it, he's a murderer, he shouldn't get another chance. Gumi just wanted to thank him for resuscitating her and paying her medical bills. But Piko knew he's irredeemable, and shouldn't be forgiven after so many murders. Besides, Piko was the one who crippled Gumi, it doesn't matter if he helped her recover. But Gumi gave him an offer that felt fair to him. He can take care of her for the rest of her life, and she will let him live in her house. He is now like her butler or something like that. Except he refuses to get paid. He believes he should work for free after what he did to her. They live together now, with Piko serving her unconditionally. She lets him have a comfortable enough life as a servant. Even if he thinks he deserves less.

The three of them left Rin's house for shopping. Rin felt quite excited.

"You know, I still feel bad for Miku's parents," Rin said "my parents may've lost Len but they still have me, Miku was her parents' only child, they're alone now."

"I wish we could help them, but it's just what it is." Gumi expressed her sympathy.

"But at least they can still walk." Piko said with a sad tone.

"Stop your self loathing, I've forgiven you long ago." Gumi said.

"You shouldn't had, but thanks I suppose." Piko still thinks he doesn't deserve someone as nice as Gumi.

"Anyway, how did you managed to convince commissioner to give you a day off every year today?" Gumi asked Rin, she wanted to change the topic before it gets worse.

"I didn't convinced her, she just randomly decided to give me a day off every year on Miku's and Len's death anniversary." Rin revealed.

"She's so nice!" Gumi said.

"I didn't realized what a worthy leader she is a few years ago, but now I do," Rin said "I can't have a better boss."

"I still can't believe she gave Big AL's mansion to a homeless person," Gumi said "she must really like him." she teased her former boss and Rin's current boss behind her back, it felt great.

"Yeah, I'm sure commissioner jacks off to pictures of him before sleeping." Rin teased her boss further.

"I'm sure she has wet dreams about him." Gumi teased her even further.

"Stop it already, she loves you two like daughters, no need to make anymore fun of her over this little crush." Piko said.

"We were just having fun," Rin said "we also love her."

"Either way, where should we go first?" Gumi asked Rin.

"I think we should get some groceries, I'm running out of them at my house." Rin answered.

They went to a grocery store and got some groceries for Rin. They then left the place, it looked pretty for a grocery store.

"These look amazing!" Rin said looking at her groceries "I want you two to stay for dinner tonight."

"I'd love to, but I'm sorry," despite her rejection, Gumi really wanted to stay for dinner "Piko's not gonna let me."

"I just want lady Megpoid to stay indoors as much as possible." Piko really cared for her safety.

"Maybe one day I'll convince you guys." Rin hoped.

"Where should we go now?" Gumi asked her.

"I just realized, it's not just Miku's and Len's death anniversary, it's also Friday!" Rin had realized "I visit their graves every Friday."

"So, we should visit their graves?" Gumi asked.

"Yes! You don't vist their graves nearly as much as I do," Rin said to Gumi "trust me, it's a great experience."

"Guess I should visit the graves after so long," Gumi really wanted this "c'mon Piko! Turn me left."

"As you wish lady Megpoid!" Piko obeyed.

They went to that graveyard again. It's a haunting sight for Gumi, she feels uncomfortable thinking that the dead bodies of her friends lay here, for Rin on the other hand it, it was no big deal anymore because she comes here every Friday. It wasn't night, so it wasn't too scary.

"I still wish I could've got there in time," Gumi said "maybe I could've stopped him and save them."

"Stop beating yourself up, it's been three years," Rin told Gumi "nobody can undo things that have already happened."

"I hear that so much," Gumi admitted "but my guilt just never dies, no matter how much I try."

They finally got to their graves. Three years ago Rin would always just break down in tears when she saw these graves, now she's mentally alot tougher. She has visited this place every Friday for three years now, everytime she just feels hope that their lives weren't lost in vain.

"I still miss you Miku, and I still miss you Len," Rin said with a smile "but I know you'd be happy seeing how strong I've became."

"I'm also proud of you Rin." Gumi told her.

"It's nothing, really." Rin said.

"Wait, where did Piko go?" Gumi realized.

"Yeah, I can't see him anywhere." Rin was surprised.

They had just noticed that Piko wasn't there all the sudden. Where did he go? They started looking for him. Too bad for them that they can't really look for him like two people usually do. Since Gumi can't walk, Rin has to carry a wheelchair in their search. They can't look for him at two places at the same time, like how two people finding one person usually do. After 15-20 minutes, they found him. He was standing near IA's grave. They had forgotten that she was also buried here, but Piko remembered. He was looking at his love, he remembers the day he had last seen her alive. The gunshot wound in her kidney looked horrifying, but he didn't expected he would lose her from it. She was a monster, just like him, maybe that's why he loves her so much. He has tried to forget her all these years, but she always comes to his mind. Why did it had to be this way...

"I know you would've hated to see me become such a puppet to someone else." he said to IA's grave.

"But listen, it's all I can do to pay back to someone I crippled." He said to her grave in an increasingly more emotional voice.

"But really, a monster like me belongs with a monster like you," tears started slowly coming from his eyes "which is why, I wanna say it's great to meet you again for the first time in three years."

"I love you, and I don't care if you can't hear me." Piko said this and wiped away the few tears he had shed and went back to normal.

He then saw then Rin and Gumi were watching him.

"What is it?" he asked.

"It's nothing." Gumi replied.

"Are you mad at me for killing her?" Rin asked him.

"No, you were just defending yourself," Piko told her "let's leave now."

After a while they left the graveyard. It was a good experience for all three of them.

"Now, let's finally start shopping for dresses, that's what you, me, and Miku used to do!" Gumi requested.

"Yeah, let's do that." Rin couldn't wait.

After a while, they reached the mall, they hadn't been to this mall since they lost Miku. It used to be their usual spot for their girls' night. The two of them felt nostalgic entering the mall.

After a while, as Rin was showing Gumi a dress she liked, she asked something Gumi wished she didn't asked.

"This one looks amazing, doesn't it?" Rin said to Gumi.

"Of course it does." Gumi replied enthusiastically.

"It looks quite a bit like our uniforms too." Rin said.

"What..." Gumi felt uncomfortable with Rin's words.

"You wish to wear the uniform again, don't you Gumi?" Rin asked.

Gumi stayed quite for over fifteen seconds before she finally answered "Yes, I hate being retired."

"Look Gumi, you're not medically cleared to work." Rin said politely.

"WELL WHEN WILL I FUCKING BE!?" Gumi yelled at her with anger, everyone in the mall was looking at them now.

"But-" before Rin could continue, Gumi cut her off.

"I used to be way better and way more respected than you, and look what I recieved for caring for you!" Gumi was now losing her voice from her loud yelling "I can't walk anymore, I can't be on my job anymore, nobody meets me much, my throat hurts drinking anything, and I hear stories of everyone in the department praising your work, while I'm unable to do anything!"

"Look I-" Rin was getting ready to tell Gumi how bad she feels, but Gumi cut her off again.

"I used to be the cool one and you used to be the loser," Gumi was crying now "now you're the cool one and I'm the loser."

"You've been holding these thoughts back for how long now?" Rin asked her very kindly.

"Longer than I can remember," Gumi told her "I know you're surprised by my jealousy, but I just miss being a detective."

"Oh well, let's go to the department after shopping, maybe that'll make you feel better." Rin suggested.

"No, I don't wanna disturb commissioner, she's still on duty today and I don't wanna make this day harder for her." Gumi answered.

"You sure?" Rin asked.

"She's been leading the department for so long through hard work, the least I can do is not disturb her over my petty jealousy." Gumi said.

"When I go to work tomorrow I'll tell her you said that," Rin said "she'll like hearing it."

"I'm sorry for yelling at you," Gumi apologized "I've held these thoughts back for so long, just felt right to spit them out that moment."

"I'm not mad," Rin said "besides, I'm glad I won't have to disturb my boss to make you feel better for not working anymore."

"Sorry again though, my outrage was childish and immature," Gumi said "let's continue shopping."

With that, they continued shopping. Gumi missed working, her job always gave her a sense of purpose and hearing people always praise her work always made her feel good. But she hasn't felt the same for the last three years. She's been locked in her house, in a wheelchair, with her servant doing everything for her while she does nothing. It's been killing her on the inside. She wishes she would just wake up one day and find herself walking again, being perfectly healthy. But as it is, taking one more hit can kill her. Which is why she has to stop fighting crime forever now, she's a shell of her former self, and she hates it.

As they were shopping they saw someone familiar playing on an arcade machine.

"Goddammit! I lost again! My parents are gonna kill me when they find out how much money I lost." the girl playing the arcade got sad.

"Yuki... is that you?" Gumi asked.

"Gumi! We haven't met in years!" Yuki couldn't believe when she saw her hero in wheelchair "what happened to you?"

"I'll tell you when the time is right." Gumi said.

"But look at you," Yuki was extremely worried for her hero "tell me you're out of danger now!"

"If I take another hit, I'll die," Gumi told her "and even if I don't, my lifespan have already been way too shortened."

"Don't talk like that." Yuki didn't wanted to hear such words.

"On a more positive notes," Gumi said "meet my friends, Rin and Piko."

"I remember you," Yuki said to Rin "when me and Gumi met last time, you were with her trying to get shaved ice from my aunt."

"I remember," Rin said "thanks for helping us that day." Rin thanked her.

"I'm Piko, I'm lady Megpoid's servant." Piko introduced himself to Yuki "she mentioned you multiple throughout the years."

"Gumi is so lucky to have someone like you." Yuki said to him.

"She deserves someone better than me." Piko told her.

"What do you mean?" Yuki asked.

"It's nothing." Rin said.

"It was great to meet you again Yuki," Gumi said with a smile "we'll meet again."

"I'll wish the best for you." Yuki said to Gumi and they parted ways.

After a while they were finally done with shopping. They saw there was a bowling alley nearby, they still had money left to spend so there's that. They went inside and were ready to play.

"I haven't done this much," Piko admitted "but I'm sure I'll kick ass."

Piko took the bowling ball and rolled it. He knocked down six pins.

"Four are left now, do your best Piko!" Gumi tried to pump him up.

Piko then rolled his second attempt and knocked down the remaining four pins.

"I told you I'll do great." He was pretty proud of his performance.

"My turn." Rin took a bowling ball, rolled it and knocked down eight pins, one problem though, she now has to do a 7-10 split.

"Crap, there's no way, I can pull this off." Rin wasn't happy with the situation she put herself in.

"C'mon Rin! Don't give up." Gumi didn't wanted her friend to be a quitter.

"I'll try, but this seems pointless." Rin rolled the ball, but she only managed to knock down 10, she couldn't knock down 7.

"I knew that was out of my league," Rin was disappointed but not surprised "your turn Gumi."

"I'm not the badass bitch I once was, I refuse." Gumi didn't believed in herself.

"Nonsense! You can still do it," Rin believed in Gumi though.

"C'mon lady Megpoid, just because you're disabled doesn't mean you can't bowl." Piko told her.

"Yeah, you don't need to walk to be great at bowling." Rin tried to pump her up.

"It's useless, I'm nothing anymore," Gumi said "you're the real deal now Rin."

"No! You can do it Gumi!" Rin shouted "Believe in yourself."

"Fine, I'll try." Gumi finally agreed to bowl.

Gumi took a bowling ball and looked at the pins with a scary look, with the heart of a warrior and fire in her eyes, she hit her shot and successfully delivered a strike.

"I... I did it." Gumi couldn't believe it.

"I knew you could!" Rin said with happiness in her voice and hugged Gumi tightly.

"Stop it, I can't breath." Rin couldn't heard these words Gumi was saying because of how tightly she had hugged her. Piko freed Gumi.

They got out of the bowling alley, what should they do next? As they were just walking down the street they saw a man standing.

"Uh, can we go back and take a different turn?" Piko asked.

"Why?" Gumi asked.

"That guy right there," Piko pointed his finger at the man "he's my father."

"Oh well," Gumi understood "I guess we should go somewhere else."

"What do you mean somewhere else?" Rin said "You don't wanna meet your father?"

"He'll never forgive me," Piko told her "and he definitely shouldn't."

"Talk to him, and see what happens." Rin demanded.

"Yeah, maybe it'll turn out better than you think it would." Gumi said.

"Fine, but I'm not comfortable doing this." Piko finally listened to them and got near his father.

He approached his father and finally said something.

"It's a privilege to meet you again." Piko said to his father.

"You..." his father saw him and looked fascinated.

"Yes, it's me." Piko said with a sad expession.

"You have the courage to talk to me after everything you did." Piko's father asked him.

"I was under a false impression, I didn't believe the truth about mother's suicide," Piko said "I did what I did because I was angry, but that's not me anymore."

"You're a monster." Piko's father said to him.

"I agree," Piko replied "and I deserve every bad that'll ever happen to me."

"I forgive you." Piko's father said.

"I knew you wouldn't," Piko said and was about to leave but he then realized what his father said "wait, WHAT?"

"I knew you were always like this, I expected you to do everything you did, I'm not mad, I believe you when you say you've changed." His father's words sent chills down his spine.

"I don't deserve your acceptance." Piko said.

"You definitely don't," his father "but I would've done something similar if I were in your place, therefore I sympathize."

Piko stayed silent for a while before finally saying something "Thanks father."

"Don't mention it." Piko's father said, they hugged and parted ways.

Piko returned to Rin and Gumi.

"What did he say?" Rin asked.

"He did something no father should ever do," Piko said "forgave a scum like me."

"Even if you don't deserve it, I'm happy for you." Gumi said.

"Thanks lady Megpoid." Piko said.

"Let's return home now." Rin had quite the day and wanted to end it.

They all got ready to return home. A while later when they were in the way, they saw a few people playing table football.

"Look, I know I just said I wanted to go home," Rin admitted "but this is something that intrigues me."

"You wanna play?" Gumi asked.

"Yeah, we'll go home after this last thing." Rin was excited.

Both Rin and Gumi got on their respective ends of the table. Gumi wished she could play this while standing up, but it is what it is. They both got ready, and Piko picked up the ball.

"There'll be a 30 minute time limit, the one to score more goals wins, and in case of a draw, we'll go sudden death." Piko announced the rules of the match.

"Got it." both Rin and Gumi said at the same time.

"And... start!" Piko threw the ball on the table, and Rin and Gumi started playing.

Piko was stunned to see how good Gumi was playing. She was making Rin struggle like crazy. She's on a wheelchair and yet, she's going toe to toe with someone who's playing while she's stood up. It's unbelieveable. There were no goals for the first 20 minutes, it was neck and neck but then, it happened. Gumi scored the first goal of the game.

"Woohoo!" Gumi had realized that despite being handicapped, she's not as washed up as she thought.

"You're amazing!" Piko said.

"Congratulations! But it won't be permanent." Rin was happy for Gumi, but she wasn't gonna give her preferential treatment for being crippled, she's still gonna try to win.

"Over these years, I've felt these emotions for lady Megpoid that I never expected," Piko said in his mind "nobody can replace IA, but I'd be lying if I say I haven't developed feelings for lady Megpoid, I don't deserve her, but I'm still glad to be able to think this way about another person."

The two of them kept playing and it was as intense as it could've been. With 27 and a half minutes in, Rin finally scored her first goal.

"Gotta give it to you, but we don't have time to waste." Gumi said to Rin.

They kept playing for the remaining time. In the end, time ran out, it was a draw... for now.

"As we previously established in the rules, it's time to go sudden death." Piko said, and Rin and Gumi started battling again.

They played for slightly over a minute before Rin scored a second goal and won the game.

"I shouldn't have expected anything else." Gumi said sounding disappointed in herself.

"You have nothing to be ashamed over," Rin told her "you made someone as tough as me struggle despite your disability."

"I guess you're right," Gumi said smiling again "I got a bit over my head."

"Now, we were heading back, weren't we?" Piko reminded them and they started returning home.

As they were walking home, Rin asked Piko something.

"Can't believe he tookover someone else's mansion," Rin said "how did he even do it?"

"You see," Piko wasn't sure what to say "he hired me and IA after he had tookover the mansion, so I don't know everything."

"But surely you know something?" Gumi also wanted to know.

"He once asked me and her to go to the basement to give that Big AL guy some water, he was locked there." Piko said.

"What happened after that?" Rin asked.

"As we were giving him water, he managed to untie himself with our unintentional assistance and tried to escape." Piko revealed.

"Cool." both Rin and Gumi said at the same time.

"There's nothing cool about this." Piko complained.

"Sorry." they both apologized.

"He almost escaped, he had almost reached the door, but we just managed to stop him." you can see through Piko's look how frustrating that day was.

"I wish I could see the look on his face." Gumi said with a grin.

"After that, our fuckface of a boss at the time made us lock him up in a closet to make it harder for him to escape, the same closet your commissioner found him and arrested him in." they were fascinated by Piko's words.

"Yeah, she told me about it," Rin said "you know, as much as I like promotions I just don't think I can be a good leader like her."

"As long as she's commissioner, I think none of you should worry about not having a good leader." Gumi said.

"Agreed" Rin couldn't agree more.

As they were on their on their way, they saw the Kagamine family doctor.

"How are you sir?" Rin said to him "haven't seen you in a while."

"Rin! It's great to see you after so long." he was happy to see her.

"Yeah, my family has been so healthy for years," Rin said "sad that it comes at the cost of not seeing you much."

"I still can't get over what happened to Len." he told her.

"Neither can I, but it's his death anniversary and he would want me to be happy when I think of him." Rin said.

"That's also true." he was proud of her high spirit, he had known her since her childhood and seeing her the way she is made him happy.

"Now me, and these friends of mine need to go." Rin said.

"Well, I saw something near your house that might make you happy," he said "bye!" and he left.

"What could he mean?" Piko wondered.

"I don't know," Rin said "but we'll find out."

They continued their way forwards Rin's house. Suddenly, Gumi asked something.

"Do you think we can do anything for Miku's parents." Gumi really wanted to do something.

"I don't know, my parents had two children, when they lost Len, they still had me, Miku was her parents' only child."

"But I don't feel good thinking about them." Gumi said.

"Maybe I can visit them time to time and remind them of how good it was to have Miku." Rin suggested.

"That sounds fantastic." Gumi liked the idea.

"Fine, I'll do that from now." Rin also loved this idea she came up with.

"Why wait? Do it right now," Gumi told her "their house is closer than your house."

"Sounds like a good idea," Rin felt pretty good hearing it "let's do it!"

They reached their house.

"Now, stay here you two," Rin told them "I'll meet them on my own."

Rin went inside the house, Gumi and Piko stayed outside.

"So, did you enjoyed this day? We've never had fun like this before?" Gumi asked Piko.

"Of course, this was a great day." Piko admitted.

"Piko... a part of me thinks you're hiding something from me." Gumi was suspicious.

"No, it's nothing like that." he lied, he didn't wanted her to know about how he's been developing feelings for her.

"You're obviously lying." Gumi didn't fell for it.

"Sorry, somethings should just stay hidden forever." Piko said to her.

"Alright then, I've had my fair share of secrets with people too," Gumi told him "so I won't force you."

"Thanks." he was happy he didn't have to reveal anything.

Rin came back from the house.

"They were pretty happy to see me, I'll definitely meet them time to time." Rin was happy with this visit.

"Glad you liked it." Gumi said.

They finally reached Rin's house.

"This was a day I'll never forget," Rin said "thanks for making it memorable."

"No need Rin." Gumi told her.

"We're glad we got to enjoy this day with you." Piko haven't been in such a good mood for a long time.

Before Rin could enter her house and say goodbye. Something comes up Gumi's mind.

"Wait, before you leave, your family doctor said there's something near this house that would make you happy," Gumi reminded her "but I see absolutely nothing."

"Yeah, something has to be nearby." Rin thought.

"I found it." Piko said, it was a box near the window, in the box, they found two kittens.

"Aww! They're adorable." Gumi said.

"Someone left these little angels near my house," Rin said "I'll never forgive that person."

"From the looks of it, one is male and the other is female." Piko assumed and he was right.

"They're my pets from now, I can't wait to show these to my parents," Rin was excited over her new pets "they'll love it."

"Have you thought of any names?" Gumi asked as she also looked happy for Rin.

"I don't even need to think," Rin knew what she'll name them "from now on, their names are... Haruka and Ayato."

And with that, I'm finally done with this story. It felt great writing it, I felt awesome at giving that call back to the first chapter at the end. I'm glad to finally release this last chapter... or is it?
