Epilogue

Six months later

Anakin compulsively straightened his tie for the sixth time in ten minutes. Ahsoka rolled her eyes. "You look great, Skyguy. Stop fussing."

"I don't know… what Obi-wan doesn't like it?"

Ahsoka rolled her eyes again. "Obi-wan would think you're the hottest thing he's ever seen if you were to show up in a potato sack. Trust me, you have nothing to worry about. You do remember that I share a house with you, right? Do you realize what I have to listen to every night? Trust me, he thinks you're gorgeous, no matter what you're wearing."

Anakin felt himself blushing. He tried not to think about Ahsoka's unfortunate knowledge of his and Obi-wan's sex life. After she had complained, Obi-wan had had the bedroom soundproofed, but that didn't do anything for the times in the lounge, the kitchen, even the garage on one memorable occasion.

"Now go. The music is starting. Obi-wan is waiting for you."

Anakin walked as though in a dream. He was vaguely aware of guests, but he had eyes only for Obi-wan, who looked resplendent in a suit of white and gold, the perfect match for Anakin's black and gold.

When Anakin finally reached the altar, Obi-wan took his trembling hands and squeezed gently, giving him a nervous smile. Anakin was glad that he wasn't the only one who was nervous, at least.

The pastor started speaking, talking of love and eternal devotion. It felt as if Obi-wan was speaking to him directly. Everything Obi-wan had ever told Anakin was echoed in the pastor's speech and it filled Anakin with such joy that he was a little surprised he didn't simply rise off the ground and float away.

Finally, the most important part came. "Do you, Anakin Skywalker, take Obi-wan Kenobi to be your husband, to love and to cherish as long as you both shall live?"

"I do."

"And do you, Obi-wan Kenobi, take Anakin Skywalker to be your husband, to love and to cherish as long as you both shall live?"

"I do."

"Then before the eyes of God and these witnesses, I pronounce you married! You may kiss."

Anakin wasn't entirely sure that he wasn't floating as Obi-wan kissed him. It seemed to last forever, that gentle joining of lips, though he knew that in reality, it was only a few moments.

They broke apart, holding hands, and the guests clapped and cheered.

Ahsoka was the first to hug Anakin, followed by Padme and Rex, and then Cody, Mace, and Luminara.

The next several hours were a rush of photos and dancing. Anakin barely had time to eat, but he didn't care, as long as Obi-wan didn't let go of his hand. One or two reporters tried to sneak in, but they were rebuffed by Obi-wan's comprehensive security.

As the evening drew to a close, Anakin leaned his head against Obi-wan's chest, letting his husband lead the slow dance.

"I never want this to end," Anakin murmured.

"It never has to, dearest. You're mine now, forever."

"I like the sound of that."

"Me too, Mr. Kenobi."

Anakin Kenobi. It had a nice ring to it.

Mace made his way through the crowd, a wide grin on his face. Anakin thought he simply wanted to congratulate them again, but when Mace got close, he lowered his voice. "Can I speak with you two in private?"

"Of course." Anakin couldn't help the fission of fear that went through him. Had something happened? Surely Maul couldn't have gotten out, could he?

They followed Mace into an empty corner of the room.

"I just got word. Maul has been killed in prison – it looks like Sidious decided he is too much trouble and ordered the hit. Luminara had to step out – she asked me to apologize for her. There is strong evidence linking Sidious to the hit on Maul. It may be years yet before they can fully pin those human trafficking charges on him, but she reckons she can get him for Maul's murder now."

Anakin couldn't believe it. It was the best wedding gift he could receive. Maul is dead and Sidious going to prison. He wouldn't ever have to worry about either of them again.

"Anakin?"

Anakin brought this gaze to Obi-wan's and smiled. "I'm ok. I'm great. This is wonderful news."

"It is." Obi-wan ran a tender hand down his face. "Do you need a minute?"

Anakin did a quick inventory of his mental state, as his therapist had taught him. "No, I'm fine. It'll be quite a bit to process, but I'm not in distress right now. Let's get back to the dance floor. I'm not done with you yet."

They shared another dance, and then Anakin danced with Ahsoka while Obi-wan pulled a blushing Padme onto the dance floor.

"So, when are we going to do it?"

"Be patient, Snips. Obi-wan and I haven't even been married for half a day yet."

"You've been married for a full six hours!"

Anakin rolled his eyes. "We'll do it tomorrow, I promise."

Ahsoka's social worker had advised that it would be easier for Anakin and Obi-wan to adopt Ahsoka officially if they were married first, so they had been waiting to submit the application. In truth, Anakin was as impatient as Ahsoka was. He hadn't told her, but he and Obi-wan had already filled out all the paperwork. It was just waiting to be submitted the moment they had a chance.

He was ready for Ahsoka to be part of his family legally – he had been ready for years, but he'd never gotten himself together enough to make the formal application. Obi-wan had helped a lot with the legal stuff.

"You'd better, or I'm telling Bariss what Obi-wan did to you that time with the whipped cream –"

"Alright, alright, I get the point! We'll do it tomorrow, Snips, I promise."

Ahsoka smiled at him and kissed him on the cheek. "Thank you. You're the best big brother anyone could wish for. You know that, right?"

"Thanks, Snips. You're everything I could ever want in a sister. I love you."

"I love you too, you sap. Now go to your husband. He's giving me the evil eye for stealing all your attention."

Anakin went happily back into Obi-wan's arms. The two of them held each other close and danced, letting the rest of the world fade away.

"I love you," Anakin murmured. "I know I've told you that like a million times today, but I do."

"I love you too, dearest. I'm going to spend the rest of my life showing you just how much."

"Same," Anakin breathed.

"I already know, Ani. I already know."

"Doesn't mean I'm not going to show you every day."

Obi-wan chuckled. "I can live with that."

Later that night, as they drifted off in each other's arms after hours of vigorous lovemaking, for the first night in a long time, Anakin slept without nightmares.
