NOTES:
Hello, everyone!
Sorry I've been MIA for the last few months. To be honest, I got completely caught up in another fandom, and created a separate account for my fics there (and even finished some of them - such a shocker, I know). Anyway, I just wanted to upload this for you guys to read. This is the first fanfiction I ever wrote, based off an idea I came up with when I was 10 back in 2015. It's incomplete, although the other chapters are written out on paper. The quality isn't great, and the chapters are super, super short, but i hope you are at least amused by my super overactive imagination, if not anything else. Just a warning - it's super cringey. I even cringe at some parts.
That being said, I have complete a sequel to this, and started a third story but never finished it. LOL.
Please let me know what you think, and I hope you have a good laugh.
(P.S. My other account here and on AO3, if you're interested, is ChloeParker05. I write Harry Potter fics under that name)

Jake and the Neversea Mermen
Part 1
Chapter 1:
One morning, on Izzy's 9th birthday, Cubby and I woke up, but Izzy was nowhere to be found. We looked everywhere we could think of, calling her name, but she did not reply. Worried, we returned home to think of a plan to find her.
On returning to the bedroom, we found a note on the table that we had not noticed before. It read:
Dear Jake and Cubby,
I am sorry if I have worried you but I am perfectly alright. Meet me at 7 o'clock tonight on Shipwreck Beach. If I am not there, wait for me and I will be there soon.
Love
Izzy
"How strange," said Cubby, "I wonder what it's all about."
"I guess we'll find out tonight," I replied puzzled, and find out we did.
Chapter 2:
We arrived on Shipwreck Beach 5 minutes early, but Izzy was not there. We waited, but 7 o'clock came and she still did not arrive. She came 10 minutes later.
"Hi guys, sorry I'm late," she said, sitting down beside us.
"Where have you been?" I asked.
"It's a long story," she said.
"We have time," Cubby replied, smiling. She took a deep breath, and told us.
She told us things that astounded and surprised us. She told us that, that morning, she had woken up, not in her own bed, but somewhere she had never been before and there was a man sitting beside her bed. She found out that he was a merman and was in fact, King Daniel of Atlantis. However, the most surprising fact was that he was her father.
"Your father!" exclaimed Cubby, in complete astonishment, "but, but that means...,"
"I am a mermaid and a princess," Izzy replied, smiling, "I know it's a lot to take in but, I want to ask you something."
"Of course," I said, "You know you can ask us anything."
"Well," she began, "My father said I can bring you two, to come and live with me. I could not bear to be separated from you!"
"But Izzy," I protested, "we can't breathe underwater!"
"Oh, well, um," she paused, "I don't know how to put this, but," she paused again, saying it in a rush now, "My father, says he can turn you both into mermen but you can change back if you want to and it will take 3 days. You don't have to, it's completely your choice and I know it's a lot to ask."
I said, without thinking, "I'll do it."
I could not imagine my life without Izzy or Cubby.
"I will too," Cubby said, nodding, "What do we have to do?"
She explained that her father would cast a spell on the water and as soon as we became fully submerged we would become unconscious but able to breathe. 3 days later we would wake up again.
"Alright," I said, "I'll go first."
"Thank you Jake," Izzy said smiling.
I thought I might as well get it over with, so I took a few running steps, then plunged into the water. Unconsciousness was immediate and I do not remember what happened during those three days but when I came to it was not what I had expected.
Chapter 3:
When I woke up I could breathe, but I had no tail. No one could understand why because Cubby had one, everyone in the whole of Atlantis had one. Except me. Izzy tried to assure me that it was fine, I could still stay with them, but I didn't want to. I tried for a few days, I met her father and stayed in the palace but everywhere I went people stared. I explained myself to Izzy and said I was sorry but I couldn't stay any longer. She said she understood, so I said goodbye to her and Cubby and went back home.
It wasn't the same without them. It was too quiet. I had Skully, the parrot, to talk to at least, but I missed them. I was unhappy most of the time and when they wrote letters, describing what they had been doing, it just made it worse. I replied normally, but I felt unhappy and excluded most of the time. Little did I know that things were going to change.
Chapter 4:
One day, about 2 months later, things changed. I heard Izzy's voice, calling for help. I was on the beach, thinking my own thoughts at the time, but I looked around me, searching for her, but could not see her. Her voice came again and, this time, with a flash, I saw her and Cubby up against a rock with Captain Hook in a diving suite, advancing towards them.
I said to Skully, "Izzy and Cubby are in trouble. Hook's with them."
"How do you know?" he asked, astounded.
"I just do. I've got to go and help them."
I pulled off my shoes and started running into the waves.
"But Jake!" Skully shouted after me.
"I know," I replied, as I dived into the water, "I'll be back soon!"
I swam as fast as I could and as I reached them slowed down and hid behind a nearby rock, to have the element of surprise over Hook. I saw him, standing over them, sneering.
I decided it was an appropriate time to strike. I swam up behind him and he seemed not to notice.
I said, "What are you doing so far from home?"
He turned around quickly.
"Jake!" he said, still sneering, "I was wondering when you were going to arrive to save your little friends."
I felt anger rising up inside me, and another feeling as well that I could not understand, a cold-heat rising up my legs.
Izzy began to groan, as if hurt.
I shouted at Hook, thinking he had hurt her, "You had better leave now, if you know what's good for you!"
"A-alright," he stuttered, staring at me in what seemed to be fear. He swam away quickly and I turned towards Izzy and Cubby, worried more about them than about Hook. Izzy was still groaning and Cubby had been knocked unconscious by Hook. They were in no state to get back to the palace themselves. I was going to have to carry them myself.
I half-dragged, half-carried them, as best I could, towards the palace. It was not too far, but the further I went, the sicker and dizzier I felt. As we reached the palace gates, I fell down, too dizzy to go any further. Izzy had stopped groaning and was now saying my name quietly in alarm. I heard people shouting, just before I blacked out completely.
Chapter 5:
I woke up, feeling a lot better. I blinked a couple of times and made a noise that, I suppose, must have sounded like a groan. I then opened my eyes to find Izzy sitting beside me, looking down at me anxiously.
"He's awake!" she cried, looking relieved.
Cubby came into the room, looking pleased.
"Oh Jake!" he cried, giving me a hug. I hugged him back.
"You gave us quite a fright," Izzy's father said, coming into the room.
"How long have I been unconscious?" I asked.
"A week," Izzy replied, quietly
"A week!" I cried sitting up fast and then regretting it, as it made my head spin.
"Slowly," Izzy's father said, "You need to take things slowly."
He paused, then said, "Izzy, Cubby, I need to have a word with Jake."
They nodded and left the room quietly, Izzy looking back just before she closed the door.
"Now Jake," the king said, sitting down beside me, "Quite a few things have happened in the past week."
"What sort of things?" I asked anxiously.
"Oh, don't worry, it's nothing bad, just, some will take some getting used to." I was relieved.
"What do you last remember, before you became unconscious?" he asked.
"Izzy and Cubby being attacked, bringing them to the gates and then just blacking out."
He was silent for a minute, thinking.
Then he said, "I need to explain something to you."
"Of course," I replied.
"Well, from what Izzy told me, Hook was about to attack them when you arrived. He then said something she couldn't remember and then you started to…" He paused.
"Well, I got this strange feeling in my legs," I said.
"That 'strange feeling', as you call it, is what's going to take some getting used to."
He smiled, "Get up please, Jake."
I thought it was a strange request, but I did it anyway. When I did, I nearly fell over backwards in shock.
Chapter 6:
I no longer had legs, I had a tail.
I stuttered, not knowing what to say, "But-but,"
"Sit down," the king said, "while I explain."
I sat down, feeling slightly weak.
"No one understands what happened. When you arrived at the palace gates, we found you like this." He gestured to my tail.
I looked down at it again, feeling strange. My tail was deep blue. The king's was green till halfway down his tail and blue from there downwards, with a small crown symbol on each fin, the symbol of royalty, although only the current king or queen and their heir had the crowns. Izzy's tail was orange at the top and deep pink from the middle downwards.
I asked, still confused, "But, why did I only get my tail now?"
"I'm not sure," he replied, "No one is sure. All that matters now is that you focus on getting better. You can become human, if you want to."
When I was used to my new situation, I went to visit Skully. I had already written him a letter to say I was alright and that I would explain when I next came to see him. I explained everything to him. When I had finished he was completely speechless, but not as much as I was a few weeks later.
Chapter 7:
A few weeks after I visited Skully, my tenth birthday came up. Izzy suggested we have a party, but I didn't want to. I suggested we have a picnic together instead, which we did. I enjoyed the time we spent together.
Later that evening, Izzy's father asked to see me. When I got there, Izzy and Cubby were there as well.
"This had better not be a surprise party," I said suspiciously.
"No, no it's not, I promise," said Izzy, laughing, "We just want to see something, that's all."
Her father explained, "We want you to put this on," he said, pointing to a crown in a glass display case, "That's all."
"Oh, okay," I replied, "but why?"
"We'll explain afterwards, depending on the result."
I agreed to it, though still not sure why I had to put on a crown, of all things. The king unlocked the case and took out the crown. I felt kind of awkward, with Izzy and Cubby looking at me expectantly. I felt like there was something they were not telling me, but before I had the chance to ask, the crown was on my head.
At first, nothing happened. Then, after a few seconds, there was a blinding flash of light, which stopped as quickly as it had started. When it had stopped, I blinked a few times, readjusting to the light.
Izzy was lying on the floor, moaning in pain. I swam to her side and knelt beside her, along with her father and Cubby. I forgot the crown was on my head. No one else seemed to notice. "What's wrong with her?" I asked, alarmed.
"I don't know," the king replied, his face screwed up with worry,
"We need to get her to the doctor."
"I'll take her," I said, picking her up, "I know where to go."
I swam as fast as I could and, to my surprise, we were there within a few seconds. The doctor took one look at Izzy and took her out of my hands into the theatre.
"What's wrong with her?" I asked anxiously.
"I'm not sure," he replied, "I've never seen anything like this."
"Will she die?" I asked, alarmed by his previous answer.
"I don't know," he said, putting a stethoscope to her chest.
"Oh no!" he cried suddenly, "No, no, no, no, no!"
"What, what is it?" I asked, frightened, "Is she…?"
He did not reply. I fell to the floor, tears beginning to stream down my face, just as Cubby and the King arrived. Some of my tears fell onto Izzy. I felt strange and thought I heard a piano. There was a sudden pain shooting up my tail as I fell to the ground. There was the sound of metal hitting the ground as the crown fell off my head and everything went black.
Chapter 8:
I woke up back in my own bed at the palace, to find Izzy again sitting beside me. When she saw I was awake, she began to cry. I sat up and gave her a hug.
"It's alright," I said, "I'm fine, there's nothing to cry about."
"I know," she said through her tears, "it's just…" she paused, "Wait here while I fetch Father and Cubby. Don't move an inch."
"Alright," I said, puzzled.
She came back about a minute later with Cubby and the King in tow.
"Jake!" Cubby cried, coming forwards and giving me a hug. I hugged him back, just like before.
"Jake," the King said, seriously, "You must stop doing these sorts of things. I need to talk to you about something."
He gestured for Izzy and Cubby to go. Before she left, Izzy hugged me again.
"Thank you," she said and I had no idea what she was thanking me for. The King closed the door behind her and sat down beside me, like before.
"Jake," he said, "I'm going to tell you a story. I will explain things afterwards, if you have any questions. Just listen."
"Alright," I agreed.
"Once upon a time," he began, "there was a king and queen. The queen gave birth to their first child - a son - and heir to the throne. But the son was born without a tail, but with legs. The King and Queen loved their son, but were worried for his safety. A year later, the queen gave birth to their second child - a daughter - but the queen died soon afterwards due to complications. The King, grieving for his wife, made a decision to send his children away somewhere until they were older for their protection. He sent them to live on land, giving his daughter, who had a tail, legs. He put a spell on both of them though, before they left, that would bring them back on their ninth birthday. On his son's ninth birthday, he waited and waited, but the son did not come back. On his daughter's ninth birthday, he waited, and this time, his daughter came." He paused.
"Go on," I said, interested to see where this was going and why he was telling me.
He continued, "The daughter asked her father if her friends could come and live with them. Her father agreed and, that night, they came. Three days later, the one boy and a tail, and the other didn't. He stayed for a few days, to please his friends, but he felt unhappy, and went to live back on land. Weeks passed. One day, a horrible man threatened the princess and her friend. The other boy came to their rescue and, in doing so, got a tail. Because of this, the King became suspicious. On the boy's birthday, he asked him to put on a crown that belonged to his son, the lost prince, without telling him that it did. The crown was enchanted, so that only the prince and his relatives could touch it. If anyone else touched it, they would be electrocuted. The King was taking a risk, but he was sure by then that the boy was his son. When the crown touched the boy's head there was a flash of light. When it had stopped, the boy looked no different. His daughter, however, had fallen to the ground, in pain. The boy took her to the doctor and by the time the King and the other boy got there, the boy was on the floor, tears streaming down his face. Some of the boy's tears fell onto the princess and, as they did so, sounded like a piano. The King knew that sound. It was the sound of what was known as 'healing tears' and he had not heard them since his father, the previous King, had died. The boy suddenly fell to the floor, unconscious yet again," he finished.
There was silence for a long while, while I took in what he had said. That was no story, it was true, and I knew what it meant, I just couldn't believe or understand it. I was his son, the lost Prince and I was also, it now appeared, Izzy's brother. The King or rather my father, smiled at me, seeing that I understood what he had said. I smiled back at him and hugged him. He hugged me back.
"You know what this means, don't you?" he asked, still smiling, "It means you have a different tail." I was surprised, I hadn't even thought of that. I looked down at it. It was identical to his. Green from top to middle and blue from thereon downwards with the crown symbols on each fin. I was still in complete shock and unable to find my voice.
"The next thing is, if you can take this in at the moment," my father said, "is that you are older than Izzy and will, therefore, be king, one day, of Atlantis. This also means you will have powers." "Powers?" I asked, confused.
"Yes, powers," he said, "The current king and queen and their heirs have powers that are used to protect their kingdoms."
I felt quite faint, from all these life-changing facts thrust upon me in the last few minutes.
"Now," he said, " I think you should go and see your sister."
Chapter 9:
I left the room, closing the door behind me. I went into Izzy's room, where she and Cubby were sitting, waiting for me. When I came in they both rushed forwards and hugged me, pinning my arms to my sides.
"Uh, guys," I said, "I can't breathe."
They let go.
"Sorry," Izzy said, "I'm just so happy!"
"I am too," I assured her. I felt kind of awkward though, with them staring up at me.
I said, "Why don't we go and visit Skully? I haven't seen him for ages."
"A month," agreed Izzy.
"That's a lot longer than last time," I said, smiling.
This time, all three of us went to see Skully. We explained to him what had happened, each of us telling parts of the story. When we had finished, he sat on his perch silently, not knowing what to say. "I know it's a lot to take in," I said, "I only found out today as well."
After a while, he said, "I got a letter from Peter yesterday that he sent last week. He's coming to visit tomorrow."
"Tomorrow?" Cubby said, "but, we won't be here!"
"No." Izzy said firmly, "Peter is one of our closest friends. We will definitely be here."
"Yes," I agreed, "We can't miss Peter."
"I guess I'll see you tomorrow then," Skully said, smiling as best a parrot could.
