The Blake Witch

Chapter 1

The Three Witches

Long ago, in the deep dark woods near a town in England, lived three witches named Victoria, Mary, and Elvina. Victoria was the eldest of the three. she had scruffy grey hair, green skin, and a crooked nose with three warts, one on the left and two on the right side. She had a large pointy chin that had two hairs growing on it. She had sharp, black talons for nails. She wore a traditional black witch outfit with a matching pointy hat. She was cold, and manipulative and would do whatever it took to get what she wanted.

Mary was a year younger than Victoria but twice as ugly. She too had green skin but her hair was lime green. Her nose was like a hook with three warts on the left side and two warts on the right side. Her grey nails were straight but sharp, and her chin was long with a circle of warts going around it. She wore a traditional grey witch outfit and her hat curved at the end. While she wasn't as cruel as Victoria she was still a horrible witch who enjoyed committing wicked acts.

Elvina was the youngest of the three. She had green skin and black hair. Her nose was long and straight with only one wart on the right side, her nails, while still sharp, weren't as long as the other two, and her pointy chin, was small. Like the others, she wore a traditional witch outfit, but hers was a very light grey, and her hat while still long was not as pointy. Unlike the others, she wasn't all that wicked. She still enjoyed flying on brooms and making potions like any other witch, but she wanted to use her magic for good. Unfortunately, that was easier said than done.

The sisters terrorized the nearby town, turning people into frogs, cursing them, and killing their crops so there was no food for the winter. Although Elvina would try to do as little as possible, her sisters would only laugh at the people's misery.

Then, one Halloween night, as the witches went around causing their usual mayhem, a stranger came into the town. She was a young woman with fiery red hair and green eyes and an hourglass figure. Although she looked like a normal human, she was a sorceress named Hazel Helena and she had come to put an end to the witches' mayhem.

She stood in before. "Victoria, Mary, and Elvina. You have been found guilty of misuse of magic. Come quietly and your punishment will be reduced. If you don't, you will face the consequences of your actions."

Elvina went to turn herself in but was stopped by Victoria. The eldest witch then spoke to the sorceress. "You really think you can stop us?" she taunted in her old scratchy voice.

Hazel only stared at them. Suddenly Victoria shot a fireball toward the blue-dressed woman. Hazel created a shield to deflect it. Mary then summoned a green ring of fire around Hazel, the sorceress summoned a cloud and rain fell out and put out the fire.

"Elvina! use your magic, now!" shouted Victoria at the youngest witch.

Elvina hesitated for a moment, not wanting to harm the woman. Mary glared at her so she began to perform a spell but before she could finish it, Hazel cast her own and turned the three into stone. Victoria and Mary showed a face of anger, while Elvina's was one of regret and sorrow.

The townspeople thanked the sorceress for all she had done when she left. The witches remained as statues for over 1000 years. Moss grew over the stone and vines wrapped around them. During that time their story was considered nothing but an old folktale. Then one night, three days before Halloween, the statues began to crack. Slowly at first, then it quickened. Finally, when the town clock struck midnight the statues broke and the witches were free.

"Finally, after all these years, we're free," Victoria said then turned to Elvina. "No thanks to you."

"Sorry, I didn't want to hurt her," Elvina said.

"Well, thanks to you we were rocks for centuries," Mary shouted with a glare.

"I said I was sorry."

"Well, sorry doesn't change the fact that we were turned into stone. Who knows how much has changed since then." Victoria berated her. "On the bright side, that means that the sorceress is long dead. We can return to our old ways without her stopping us again," she finished with a cruel grin.

"But what if there's another?" asked Mary.

Her older sister pondered the fact for a moment. If there was another who could stop them, then they needed a way to destroy them even if Elvina hesitated again. Then an idea came to her.

"We'll turn a mortal woman into one of us, that's why we can't be stopped," Victoria said.

"That's perfect," Mary said in an evil glee tone.

"But, how are we going to convince someone into becoming a witch?" the youngest asked.

"Who said anything about convincing?" Victoria said.

"I did," Elvina protested, her arms crossed over her chest. "I will not turn a mortal into one of us else unless they agree to it."

Victoria groaned in frustration but didn't bother to argue with the younger witch. For a potion to turn someone into a witch to work all three of them had to agree to do it.

"Fine, we make her agree to join our coven before we turn her into a witch." Victoria agreed begrudgingly. Then the three left to return to their cottage. To their surprise, it was still there, with a few vines growing around it. With a simple spell, the vines disappeared and they went in inside to clean their home before they left to find their new witch.
