That night when Mirabel enters her dorm, for a brief moment, the candle seems a bit uneasy. Mirabel walks up to it and, unsure if what she saw was a flicker or if it was just in her imagination. When nothing happens, she shrugs and goes to bed. As she lays down with her back towards the candle, it flickers once again, and you can see Camilo's door doing the same.
The next day, the family Madrigal goes into town and start helping the townies as usual. Mirabel walks around to everyone and chats for a little bit, making sure no one is overdoing it. Camilo is playing with some kids, shifting into them one by one and makes funny faces to make them laugh. Mirabel takes the opportunity and sneaks up on him, and once she gets close enough, she screams. Camilo screams in return and accidentally shapeshifts back to normal, unaware of the sign above him. It hits his head, and he sits on the ground, making all the children laugh.
"Hey! Making fun of people is my job." he says as he stans up and brushes of some dust of his pants. He strokes his head where the sign hit and Mirabel laughs.
"Sorry, couldn't help myself. So, Dolores told me about your plans with the girl later today."
Camilo sighs at his sister's terrible skill of keeping things to herself. "What about it?"
"Nothiiing. I think it's good that you show her around a little."
"I'm a Madrigal, it's kind of what we do if you haven't noticed." he shrugs and smile.
"I know. Oh, look who's arrived." she says and nods towards the end of the street where Alexandra and her family show up. They look around, unsure of where to go. Camilo doesn't even say bye to Mirabel before jogging down to them, and Mirabel's smile follows with a concerned. She has absolutely no idea of what to feel about all of this. She is happy to see Camilo being in such good mood but is at the same time getting an odd feeling that something is not right.
"Hey, Alexandra!" Camilo comes running towards Alexandra and her family, and she turns around quickly. "Camilo, hi!" she says and smiles big when he stands in front of her.
"Had a good morning?" she continues, and she doesn't notice that her family gives each other happy suspicious looks. Her brother raises her brows quickly twice and luckily neither Camilo nor Alexandra sees any of it.
"Well you know, the usual. Shifting into some people who wants to hang up things on the wall and needs some measurements and babysitting as a mother for a while." he says and shrugs. Alexandra blinks a couple of times before saying "Riiiight, the usual." and laughs nervously.
"I mean, usual for our village…" Camilo says and rubs his neck a little. It takes a few seconds before Alexandra realizes that her family is standing behind her, not doing anything.
"Oh! Camilo, meet my family. This is my mama Laura, my papa Fredrick, and this is my big brother, his name is André." As she mentions each one of them, they either nod or give a small wave. Camilo nods at them and puts his hand, showing them the way into town.
"Shall we?" he asks, and Alexandra shows her family to follow him. He starts by showing them some of the food stands closest to them. The family is amazed by the variety of fruits and vegetables that the town can provide. At first the people selling are a bit hesitant, but Camilo is able to convince them to treat them as normal. "Come on, look at them. They need the energy to continue travel." Is what he usually goes for. More and more people start to get curious about the strange family and they get closer and closer. Especially when Alexandra goes to help an elderly gentleman to lift a statue that had fallen beside his front door. He is shocked at first but lets her help, and later thanks her by giving her some oranges from his garden. "Are you sure?" she asks, and the man just nods. A big smile surfaces on her face and she bows swiftly. "Thank you very much!"
A moment later, Camilo notices the crowd gathering around them. Alexandra and her family also notice them, and they don't really know what to say or do. The cutest little girl that Alexandra hasn't seen before slowly walks up to her and points at the strange device hanging from her belt. "What's that?" she asks with curious eyes. Alexandra bows down to her level and opens it. "This? It's a compass."
"A compass?
"Yeah, a mysterious device that will always show you the right way. If you know how to use that is." Alexandra says and smiles.
