For context: I made a storyline for the backrooms and thought I should let someone else attempt it. And I'm logging it just because.

Recommendation: while reading listen to "everywhere at the end of time" by "the caretaker" (commonly referred to as EATEOT)

Run 1:

You walk down a decrepit alleyway, the abandoned buildings and broken glass surround you. You walk forward… and you are no longer there. The walls of mono yellow surround you, with a heavy humm buzz that makes your head hurt coming from the fluorescent lights, which seem to flicker every now and then. You feel the moistness of the carpet from the squishing sounds, as well as the stress of the space around you. All of these things assault your senses at once, causing you to recoil in shock and surprise, after trying to calm down, that shock turns into panic, and panic into fear, as the oppressing hum buzz fills your head, you run forward and keep running until you can no longer run. A choice appears before you, should you stay? Should you go forward?

FORWARD

You continue ahead, after a few minutes of wandering ahead, you see a few murky puddles of a reddish liquid. Should you drink it? Should you continue?

DRINK IT

You drink the fluid, as your thirst is quenched, and your throat no longer parched, you continue. You become tired, you feel a burning inside, you feel hazy, your thoughts no longer matter, your thoughts no longer exist, what is the point, what is the point, what is the point, your gut is melted, what can you do, what can you do, what can you do. Run 2:

You walk down a decrepit alleyway, the abandoned buildings and broken glass surround you. You walk forward… and you are no longer there. The walls of mono yellow surround you, with a heavy humm buzz that makes your head hurt coming from the fluorescent lights, which seem to flicker every now and then. A choice appears before you, should you stay? Should you go forward?

STAY

You realize the lights behind you start flickering, you turn to overwhelming darkness and silence, no… not silence, you hear scuttling and whispers from the dark. You are urged to move forward, but now with a clearer head you run at a constant pace and conserve stamina, after a while, you decide to take a break, you look to the ground to see some murky red puddles. What do you do?

CONTINUE

You continue on until you reach a filing cabinet, you are surprised that something else is in here from… well earth, there's no way this is on earth, you've run too far. You search the filing cabinet for… something, however, you only find papers, however, a closer look at the papers show strange symbols instead of English [AN: I speak English so if English is not your first language then do imagine that as the language of which you speal] as you would expect, you neatly put the papers back where you found them in the order you found them in. What do you do?

EAT THE PAPER [AN: no joke this is their response to this]

You pick the papers back up, and proceed to eat them, contrary to what others would have you believe, paper is a fine cuisine and is amazing, after eating the entire stack of paper with your ridiculous snake-like jaw you realize that your jaw shouldn't be able to unhinge, and your jaw muscles break from the extreme pressure you've put them under, on top of that the paper itself was consumable but not the ink, so you have been poisoned in a highly dangerous environment. Sorry (*ahem*), after consuming the papers you continue on your path, slowing down as you feel sick, you vomit, and start sweating, it feels as though you are melting inside, but you know you aren't, you continue to slow down, stopping every few rooms, parts of your skin are yellowing, you can no longer run, you can no longer walk, you are slowed to a crawl. The lights fade out behind you, this is your end. Was it the right choice? The scuttling and whispering have grown close now, you can make out what they're saying… what it's saying. You feel the scratching over your lower body, feel the biting. When you are fully engulfed in darkness, there's nothing, only the whispers remain, they grow louder and louder, it becomes deafening. Something goes through your mouth, you feel the bile rise up your throat but it can't escape, something fills up your insides, seeps into your being, you become bloated, you are far too tired to fight back.

XXXXX

AN: these are the first few runs summed up, after this, I wanted to do something special with this, so I added a whole inventory and stat system. Here's a preview of it. Some basic things: 20 points in total, if any of the points reach 0, you die.

Pros:

it helps me manage everything you've got and quantify some future interactions to help me make the story better

it's easier to track.

Cons:

it changes the vibe I've been trying to have for this

A system in itself changes some of the previous interactions, so this would be the same story with details changed

Stats:

Agility: 5

Strength: 5

Intelligence: 5

Mental Fortitude: 5

Equipment: [strength = inventory space] [each item has a weight, your strength indicates the max weight you can carry as well, still determining whether it should be one of two different interactions A: accumulative weight (strength * 4 = max weight in general, you can have 3 4-Weight items, but not 2 9-Weight items), or B: singular weight (strength = max weight of each individual item, so you can have 3 4-Weight items with 4 strength)
