Chapter 2: Paris' Hero
Ladybug's POV
She sat on the edge of the building, facing the tower with tears pouring from her eyes. Stupid, stupid stupid. She told herself. She had let Shadowmoth win. And Felix. He had looked just like Adrien and even sounded like him. How could that have been Felix? How did he seem so much like Adrien? Well in all fairness, she didn't really know who Adrien was. Even after all this time. Sure, he was kind and funny and always caring but she still never allowed herself to really know him. Love was too scary for her. When she had been with Luka shortly, Ladybug got in the way and when she had finally allowed Chat into her heart, he apparently destroyed the entire world. At least in that timeline. She couldn't afford to persue Adrien anyway, she had too much on her plate as Ladybug so she had decided to let him go. Her mind was racing. Love, graduation, the miraculous, being a guardian and now this. Shadowmoth loomed over the city spouting words of evil and it was all her fault. She had no one.
"I lost everything" she cried to herself.
"You haven't lost me" she heard a low familiar voice sound next to her as two black leather boots made their appearance. Chat. Her mind relaxed.
"Why don't you just give up on me… I'm not worth it… I'm a terrible guardian and I lied to you the most. I kept pushing you away because I've been so scared of messing up and now I've really done it." she buried her face.
"My lady" he spoke softly, calming the storm within her.
A leather clad hand lay in front of her face when she turned to meet his eyes. His expression was soft and sturdy all at the same time and his eyes were full of love and determination. The sky became a purple canvas surrounding him as the focus of her view. Hesitant at first, she took his hand and he brought her into what felt like the warmest embrace she could ever experience. It was what she needed. She let her body relax into his arms as he took the weight of her frame and emotions inward. "We'll get every last one of them back my lady. I promise I won't let this happen again. I won't let him win" he spoke into her ear.
"you…and me? "she asked hopeful that they could be a team again
"You, the best hero there ever was, them, the people of Paris, and me, your loyal partner." he kissed the top of her rain-soaked forehead and pulled her closer.
"The people?" she asked as she moved her gaze to the crowd of people standing below. She hadn't even noticed them, and they were chanting her name. She stared at them feeling her stomach fill with anxiety, but then, she looked at Chat Noir. He hadn't been looking back at her but her gaze didn't move. She watched him as he smiled at the city with hope. She looked at him as if no one else in the world existed. To her, he became the sun, lighting up the night sky as if they were in broad daylight. Just like that, everything became clear. He was a lifeline, a rock to lean on, a partner, and he was hers.. Thunder sounded and she felt her heart leap. Sure Ladybug was the hero of Paris, but Ladybug's hero was Chat Noir.
