Andromeda fanfic rated k hurt/comfort

I do not own Andromeda or any of it's characters

Enjoy!

The few Heron ships had been destroyed, their debris floating in space. Andromedas systems were almost completely offline but for lights and life support. Everyone had gone in the slipfighters and the Maru to take out the enemy as a last resort. All except Harper as he tried to repair the ship.

Now the large warship was filled with an eerie silence. Conduits sparked and lights flickered.

"R-rommie?", Harper said hopefully.

No response as he looked around the command deck.

The sensors read zero life signs in the system but his own.

"Th-they're all gone!", he said panic rising.

His heart beat in his chest and his breathing quickened.

"No not again please!! I can't! Don't leave me here alone!", Harper said to no one.

His thoughts were clouded with panic as he quickly found a safe space under the desk.

Curling up with his legs to his chest Harper hyperventilated looking around with fear.

Scared tears fell as he held his head tightly.

"I can't do it again please! I-I can't!", he kept saying as his chest heaved in and out.

The thoughts of every time the enemy had won flashed in his brain. Everyone he lost. All the times he ended up the last survivor.

Alone.

"Beka? Tyr? Everyone report!", said Dylan alone in his slipfighter.

"We're all alive Dylan. Glad to see you are too.", replied Beka.

Dylan relaxed and smiled with relief.

"Let's get back then.", said Dylan.

Once docked they all exited their respective ships.

"Come on let's get to command deck.", said Dylan to Beka, Tyr, and Trance.

They nodded and made their way there dodging sparks and stepping over damage.

Beka leading the way stopped when she saw her engineer.

"Harper?", she said gently.

But his hands covered his ears and his eyes were closed.

The crew was shocked to see their little proffesor shaking and tears rolling down his cheeks. Hyperventilating and muttering something to himself.

Beka knelt down next to him, carefully putting a hand on his knee. He jumped and opened his eyes.

He looked at her with shock.

Beka just wrapped her arms around him holding him safe.

"It's okay. We're all here. You're not alone.", she said knowing exactly what to say like she always somehow did.

Still shaking Harper hugged back holding on tightly.

The rest got closer wanting help. Dlyan and Tyr were especially shocked by the scene not knowing Harper as long as Trance and Beka. But they did somewhat know what he'd been through.

Harper never looked younger than he did now as he cried helplessly into Bekas shoulder. She quietly shooshed in attempt to calm him as he still breathed fast and heavy.

Suddenly Tyr walked over, kneeling down he put a strong hand on Harper's head. "No need to fear. We are here Harper.", he said calmly.

It seemed to help as Harper looked up. His breathing slowed as he wiped his cheeks on his sleeve.

"I-I'm sorry.", he said shakily.

Dylan shook his head. "Don't be.", he said his heart panged with sadness.

Beka and Tyr stepped back as Harper crawled out from his spot and slowly stood up.

Still shaken he walked toward the exit of the command deck.

Trance touched his shoulder affectionately and he gave a weary smile back.

Dylan looked at his crew as Harper dissapeared down the corridor.

"The sensors must have been damaged or something. He thought we were all dead.", said Beka.

"Poor Harper. Since we've known him he's never had it this bad.", said Trance.

"What do you mean had it this bad?", asked Dylan simply.

"Harper has post traumatic stress disorder.", replied Trance.

Tyr and Dylan looked at each other and back at the girls.

"You know Earth was rough on him, and he was so young. Losing everyone, all his family. Well it's a miracle he can keep it together all the time.", replied Beka sympathetically.

Dylan couldn't believe he didn't know. It made sense, but still he felt terrible.

Tyr looked down not knowing what to say. He slightly regretted how rough he was with him though all the time.

"Will he be okay", was all Dylan could think to say.

"Yeah he just needs to know that we're here for him. He'll try to hide it but he'll still be anxious for a while.", Trance replied.

Later that day Dylan went through the crews files. He wanted to make sure he didn't miss anything important and he wanted to specifically look at Harper's file.

Dylan found his hand over his mouth with shock as he read. Not only had he witnessed his parents, cousins, neighborhoods deaths for that matter he was also only twenty two years old.

So young. How could be that young?

Dylan thought back such guilt. It made sense too. His boyish and sometimes innocent behavior. Dylan shook his head. It wasn't right for someone to go through that much pain. Especially not at such a young age.

The file read of neitzschean torture. Dylan knew of course that Harper was there for the Drago-Kasov invasion but he didn't know he'd been captured. He wasn't surprised that he'd been able to escape either. He remembered seeing signs of strange scarring and didnt know what to make of it. He shouldve known better as he mentally kicked himself.

Dylan walked down the corridor as he stopped at a door. With a knock the door slid open.

Harper sat in a chair looking out the window at the stars.

He looked calm, but seemed weary and his face had been stained by tears.

"Can I come in?", asked Dylan quietly.

Harper nodded looking back out the window.

"Harper...I wanted to apologize. I'm sorry for putting you in that situation. I'm sorry for not being...", Dylan started.

"It's okay boss. It's not your fault I'm broken. I-I'm sorry I'm not stronger.", Harper replied.

"No Harper. You are by far the strongest person I have ever met. And you are not broken. You just need time to heal that's all. And we'll all be here every step of the way.", replied Dylan almost choked up.

Harper was surprised when Dylan pulled him in a tight hug.

Harper's shoulders relaxed as he hugged back. For the first time in a long time, he felt safe.

"Thank you.", Harper said as he let new tears fall.
