"Nami... "
His voice echoed in the small clear way which was far from the battle.
"Nami, wake up! It's not funny!" He tried adding but the ginger still wouldn't respond.
On his way around the town, he lost himself but soon found his female crew lying lifelessly on the ground with a pool of blood around her. He couldn't find anything in him to believe this scene.
This woman... This woman would never end up like this. She was fine just moments ago, fighting off the soldiers. She was even confident enough to split up and take down another one of the bad guys by herself. No one batted an eye as they trusted her, of course. She was Nami. No one could take her down.
But what is this?
"If you were planning on scaring me then you win. It's enough!"
Still nothing.
He took her hands in his as felt nothing in her palms. No beat, as if it were just a cold mannequin. But this cold mannequin was Nami. Her skin was all bruised up and blood was splattered all around her, even in her soft hair that had pieces of dirt in it as well.
It was evident that there was a pole striking right through her heart but the swordsman chose to ignore it. He didn't believe this.
"Stay in there, Nami. I'll get Chopper. He'll save you so just stay put... I'll carry you there.
I know I'm hurt but I'll just carry you. I don't mind. Not this time"
This scene brought him back to Alabasta where Nami had insisted that he carry her back to the crew even though he was hurt. He let her, of course, cause he didn't mind. It was hell for him that time since they both held on to the arguments.
But now, all he wished is to hold her close, to assure her she was safe. To assure himself she was safe.
Zoro picked her up bridal style with her pressed up to his chest. He felt the pole stab through him as well.
But he didn't care.
"I'll get you to Chopper...
Stay with me, Nami"
"Yosh! We took all of them down! Where's Zoro?" Luffy demanded. "He said he'd take his own way here, but I suppose he got lost" Robin answered. "Ah, the moss head felt macho enough to run his way here in hopes to be early. What a-"
"Zoro!"
Everyone looked towards where Usopp pointed. It indeed was their green haired swordsman but he had something in his arms. It looked like a girl.
A girl...
With orange hair...
"Nami..." Sanji gasped.
Zoro placed the ginger in front of Chopper. The little reindeer already knew by the looks of the situation, that he was needed. He took his medical kit out and took an examination. Whilst the rest of the crew stood watching, mouth wide from shock. None could move one of their muscles as the sudden scene took out their souls.
Usopp was the first to talk after quite some time. "What happened?" Zoro refused to answer as he himself didn't know either. All he knew is that he found her, laying like a doll.
Chopper then closed his kit and sighed. They all knew what it meant but they wanted to have hope. Hope that she was still reactive. But they knew it would only be a dream.
"It's too late. She lost too much blood. And the pole had targeted her heart which can not be saved even with a lot of operations. She's gone"
The sniper lost it. He fell on his knees as he covered himself to hide that he was crying. His best friend is gone and he couldn't do anything about it. Robin let her tears drop as another close friend of hers had died.
Franky and Chopper both bawled their eyes out. The cyborg didn't defend his tears this time as he knew it was appropriate to show his feelings.
Sanji, Brook and Luffy stood still. Sanji just taking a swiff of his cigar, and taking in the news of his crush dying. Part of him blamed the moss head but then again, it wasn't his fault as he probably stumbled upon her body. But he still cursed at himself for not being there for her as a guardian. Brook however, he couldn't cry as he was a skeleton. But the sadness he had in his eyes, which he didn't have since he, once more, was a skeleton, it was still present. He removed his top hat and pressed it to his chest, to indicate a farewell. Meanwhile Luffy, he stood still. His eyes were covered by his straw hat so no one knew how he felt.
Zoro had only lowered himself in guilt. It was only a matter of time before his wall would be broken and he'd cry, cry till there was nothing left. He wouldn't show his weakness to her. Not ever. Even when she's asleep.
He placed his palms onto her cheeks. It felt cold. Without a thought, he placed a kiss onto her nose. It didn't matter if the other were looking. He hadn't cared because this'll be the last time he'll see her again.
"Don't go...stay with me...please"
He was so in his own world that he failed to noticed his Captain's footsteps. The arm on his shoulder had snapped him out his trans as Luffy knelt beside him. The rubber boy took his straw hat off and placed on her chest.
The three original crew mates sat in silence as they mourned their friend. Never in a million years did one think they'd get separated so early. They all promised to take care of each other till death did them apart, but this... It was too soon.
"It's time for her to go" Brook announced. All the Straw Hats looked over to him. He was right. If they kept her here for longer then she wouldn't have any peace.
"We'll have to take her home... "
Her one dream was to make a map of the whole world. Even though she could no longer achieve it, her crew will help her accomplish it. No matter what it takes, they'll all achieve their dreams.
"Let's bury our friend!"
