Sakura sighed and sat up cracking her neck. Lately, she had been having a habit of staying up late to finish her assignments. Well, no one said being a doctor was going to be easy. The poor girl was only in her second year as well, so it was only going to get harder. For a minute Sakura wondered if all this was worth it but quickly shook her head, she worked too hard to turn back now. Besides, it wasn't as if the young student was failing her classes, Sakura was just… a perfectionist.

Even if her blonde friend said she should go out more and get a social life, Sakura wanted perfect grades. She couldn't slack off.

One night won't hurt forehead

Well, Ino made a point. However, what if one night turns to two then turns to three and then turns to. Sakura slapped herself to stop herself from thinking further. Sighing again for the second time the pink girl stretched and figured she could use a break. It was well deserved.

Her stomach growled so she made her way downstairs to get a bite to eat. It was currently 1 AM almost two. Therefore, she had to be quiet to not disturb her roommates. Sakura would have moved in with Ino but she was now living with her current boyfriend and didn't want to play the third wheel. They were a good bunch, one was a bit odd but that was probably because he would constantly flirt around with her, even though it was obvious that he had a crush on their other roommate.

Probably trying to make her jealous.

After grabbing her cookies and milk. Hey, don't judge. I know what you all think but these were Sakura's go-to so let her be. The girl sneaked back into the room with success, nibbling her cookies Sakura watched a couple of videos with her headphones, before glancing at her bed. It did look rather tempting.

I'll just take a quick nap. Was the last thing on her mind before sleep took over. When Sakura awoke, she found herself lying on the ground. Weird since she was in her bedroom just a moment ago. How did she end up here? More importantly, where was here?

Looking around, Sakura could make out she was in a park. There were still children playing about since somehow it was daylight. Well, the afternoon. Sakura panicked. Did she oversleep? No, oversleeping didn't mean going somewhere else. Maybe sleepwalking? No, that can't be right, she didn't have a clue where she was. Sakura went to a couple of adults hoping they could help, but they ignored her.

RUDE!

That was her first thought until someone went straight through her, it felt so strange. Hold on, did she...die? Another flash of panic set in until Sakura realised she could hold and touch objects. How? Ghosts can't carry objects...can they? Walking around the young girl didn't notice she was taking a path. A path which was so familiarly known yet she couldn't quite pinpoint it. There was a man outside the porch, he didn't notice her presence at first until she got closer.

"Sa-Sakura?" His voice croaked as he stood up shakily reaching out to her, it looked like he'd seen a ghost. "Is that really you?"

He can see her.

How does he know who I am? Is this… a dream?

Wait, a dream. Yes, that would make more sense.

"Uh, yes?" Feeling awkward and having no idea how to respond. She had never seen this man in her life. He looked like he was in his 30s or 40s. Sakura wasn't sure. However, he just stared at her with one eye. His other eye had a patch. Maybe he lost it? He certainly looked like he'd been through wars. Before his hand made contact with her, he recoiled. After looking her up and down his face turned into a frown and he let out a deep sigh.

"You… you're not her are you?" His voice saddened at the realisation as he sat back down on the porch slouching. Sakura's throat ran dry. His expression was enough to break her heart in two. Why did he seem so familiar? His face, eye, even his voice. Nevertheless, he was a lot older than she was, so Sakura couldn't think of where or how she would have known him.

"Uh… I mean I am Sakura but… maybe not yours?" She bit her lip, avoiding eye contact. Coming here was a mistake. Although it wasn't like she purposely went down this road. Her feet just took her there, like they knew the way or something. It's just a dream, so it didn't matter.

The man in front of her nodded and hummed, it seemed he was thinking.

"Where did you come from?"

"Uh, from Konoha University?" The stranger blinked and raised an eyebrow.

"Konoha? University?"

"Yeah, you can't miss it. It's like one of the biggest Universities going. Have you… never heard of it?" He shook his head, Sakura wondered if she started to sound crazy to this man. Obviously, this wasn't her area wherever this is. He had no idea what she was talking about.

However, he gave her a soft smile and patted the spot next to him.

"Would you mind?" Blushing the poor girl could only nod as she sat down next to him. He was a handsome man, even with age. It seemed like he was grieving and wanted a chat. What a strange dream this was. "Tell me," he spoke softly. "What is it like?" Surprised at his interest Sakura began to explain what her life was like, ranting and complaining about her assignments, how very different it was compared to high school where she had more freedom and about her dreams for the future.

"How old are you?"

"I'm 23 sir."

"Ah, I thought you looked younger." She was confused but didn't say anything.

"Any boys in your life?"

"Huh? Oh, well I have friends but if you mean romantically there isn't anyone in particular. I mean there is this one person, Suigetsu. He keeps flirting with me in the house but I'm pretty sure it's only because he's trying to make Karin jealous. Oh right, you don't know them. They're my roommates, well I actually met Karin beforehand since we're both working to become doctors. She was the one who asked me to move in with them since they needed one more person. So there's me, Karin, Suigetsu and Jugo."

"Suigetsu? Karin? Jugo? Odd, you know them but haven't met him yet?"

"Him? What do you mean?"

He chuckled, "I mean you haven't met the one yet." Still confused but maybe he liked being a mysterious person. Why were older people so weird?

"And you sir?"

"Hmm?"

"I mean, what's your life like? If you don't mind me asking?"

"Ah, I'm a ninja. I've seen and done things you wouldn't believe." Oh, she believed him all right, if the way he spoke and how his face looked were anything to give away.

"My wife… she passed before I could get to her. Before I could save her and see her again." He remained quiet. "That is something I'll never forgive myself for. She was… kind, strong, loyal. She was... everything to me." The man began to tell her stories, how the two of them were a team when they were genin? He explained the words she didn't understand thankfully. Apparently, she loved him since they were 12, wow. That is a long time, and although he didn't go into detail about what he did he explained that he chose a dark path, full of revenge and hatred but she was still there. Wanting to help him, loving him and for them to be a team again. They even had a daughter. It was touching.

"She loved me even though I didn't deserve it. But I'm selfish, I didn't want her to be with anyone else." He laughed bitterly.

"Maybe I should of. If she wasn't with me… she may be alive until this day."

"THAT'S NOT TRUE AT ALL!" The words flew out but she had no control, startling the man. "I mean, I may not know your wife but I can tell you really love her and I'm certain she loved you just as much. Maybe more, you shouldn't say these things." He glanced at her and Sakura could feel her heart beating rapidly. Who was she to say such things about a couple who she knew nothing about? I mean sure, she had a vague idea but still. Sometimes her mouth could get carried away and this is why Sakura hated herself so much, urgh.

"Ah, your right," It was a surprise how he let her off so easily. But he just smiled. It was a sad one but a smile nonetheless. Still, there was something nagging her. What he said earlier and how he knew her name. How comfortable he was around her and the fact he was the only person who could see her here. Maybe she was overthinking things.

"Uh sir," but then again maybe not.

"You said my name earlier and you… are we… do you?" He smirked down at her.

"Ah, so you have figured it out. Even now, you're still one step ahead." She said nothing but allowed him to continue. "Sasuke, Sasuke Uchiha and my wife Sakura Uchiha." Sakura gasped at hearing her name. It wasn't hers and yet it was?

"There are worlds, universes out there each living their own lives. One thing they have in common is the same people, they may live different lives but anyone who you know there will also be with you somewhere else… does that make sense?" Sakura nodded, it sounded a bit confusing but she got it. Well, at least she thinks she did.

"In my world, we fight, death comes quickly, there's blood on everyone's hands and it's a cruel place. But in yours, well I don't know much about it but it sounds more relaxing." It honestly did, I mean death, fighting, blood. Sure becoming a doctor Sakura would go through two of those stages regardless. She would lose patients and blood would be on her hands with that, but that was expected. As painful as it is, you can't save everyone.

"So, I should have my own Sasuke?" She tilted her head confused. Sakura wasn't really one for destiny or fate, preferring facts. However, if he knew her, or a Sakura then did that mean she had a Sasuke? One that she hadn't encountered yet? What if they didn't get along? Just because they were meant to be or whatever didn't mean it would be easy.

"Ah, you should." He looked up at the sky. "If he breaks your heart I'll pound him myself, he shouldn't take you for granted as I have." Again, another sad smile. He misses her, his wife clearly. Sakura wasn't really sure what to make of this whole situation really. How does she comfort a grown man, about to speak Sakura found herself glowing.

Wait, hold on. That was it? But there were so many things going through her head.

Why was she here?

Why was he the only one who could see her?

What happened to her other self? Could it happen to her?

How could she meet the other Sasuke?

The Uchiha on the other hand just smiled. "Ah, so your leaving? I wish you the best of luck. Who knows, maybe we'll have a better life in your world?"

She wanted to scream.

"Wait, isn't there something I can do? I'm here for a reason, right? Please tell me I can help you."

She felt herself disappearing and him getting out of her reach. "There's no need, talking to you again... it's enough."

No, no, no, no.

"I hope we meet again Sakura."

Sakura woke up with a start hearing a loud knocking sound from the bedroom door.

"Saks, are you awake yet? You need to come downstairs, I've told you to stop staying up so late with the assignments. Now hurry up and get changed." Shuffling sounds could be heard from the other side of the door which led Sakura to believe that Karin was gone. Sighing once again, she fell back onto her bed staring at the ceiling. What a strange dream, it felt so real and Sasuke.

Sasuke.

Sakura noticed the tears that formed and wiped them away quickly not wanting to burden her roommates.

Getting up from the bed, trying to find a new pair of clothes because poor Sakura here slept in the ones from yesterday, she brushed through her hair to make herself more presentable. Having absolutely no clue why Karin called her, probably for an urgent shopping trip. That was usually the case, she rushed down the stairs not wanting to keep the redhead woman waiting any longer. Maybe they could get breakfast on the way.

Only to be faced with not one or three but four people waiting for her.

Onyx clashed with emerald and Sakura felt her heart skip a beat.

"Finally, what took you so long huh? Sakura this is Sasuke, he's the friend I told you about."

Sasuke

The two looked at each other with wide eyes, it was almost like they both knew what the other was thinking.

Don't tell me even he-

"Sakura, huh?" his voice was husky and Sakura felt herself collapsing knowing this was the person with who she would spend the rest of her life.

"Sasuke," he smirked at her giving her his hand. She took it and smirked back at him, "Sakura."

Maybe this wouldn't be so bad.

"Uh, hello I just introduced you two. No need to reintroduce yourselves." Karin huffed but was secretly pleased, even if they were all being ignored by the two of them. The only reason she wanted to introduce Sasuke to Sakura was that he was a pain in the ass who needed a girlfriend and seeing as Sakura managed to worm her way into Karin's heart. Karin had a hard time making friends, especially with girls. She figured the same could be done with the Uchiha.

"Is this what they call sexual tension because it certainly seems like it." Karin just smacked Suigetsu whilst Jugo sweatdropped.

AN: So I did have an idea to make this an ongoing story but I currently don't have time for another ongoing one which is why I made it into a quick one-shot instead.

I mean it's better than nothing. Hope you like it.
