"Looks like I didn't get an invite to your slumber party," Arthur said loudly as he walked into the room.
The knights jumped up and stood at attention. I looked at my pipboy then stood up.
"Go get some chow," Arthur ordered the knights. "Be back here in 30."
"Sir," they all said and filed out. I followed.
"Not you Sentinel," he said. He waited for the others to leave. "Did you take your Radx?"
"Not yet," I said.
"Make sure you do," he came closer to me. "I was hoping you would come home last night."
"Sorry," I told him. "I lost track of time."
"It's good," he put his arms around me. I hugged him back. "Do you feel good about this team?"
"They are bright and energetic," I said feeling the muscles on his back.
"They are some of the best shooters we got," he kissed the top of my head. "Trained by MacCready."
"I couldn't ask for a better group," I completely meant what I said.
"Look," he pulled back. "About yesterday…"
"Don't," I stopped him. "I was being insubordinate…"
"No," he interrupted. "You were being truthful. That's why I married you."
"Yeah, but this is a Brotherhood issue," I insisted. "I need to take responsibility."
He hugged me.
"Go get something to eat with your team," he said. "And take your RadX."
"Yes sir," I kissed him. "Ad Victoriam."
"Ad Victoriam," he smiled as I turned and left the room.

I grabbed a bowl of Sugar Bombs and milk and ate with my team in the mess hall. None of us spoke to each other as we quickly ate our breakfasts and went back to the armory to suit up.
When we were all in our power armor Proctor Ingram entered the room with Arthur.
"I need you to tune to channel 88.9 before you enter the tunnels," she started. "This is a priority channel for missions like these. You will be in direct contact with me… or homebase every time you speak. Everything you say will be heard… and recorded… I know this isn't your first clown show… just be professional guys."
"Sentinel, I need to see your pipboy." she said to me.
I ejected myself from my suit. She put a holotape inside and it started spinning.
"This program will send your map coordinates over the radio signal. I have modified our receivers to distinguish be voice and data. While we are recording your voice, we will also be tracking your location."
She motioned me to get back into my power armor.
"This big hunk of armor will amplify the transmission from your pipboy," Her face got serious. "Under no circumstances do you leave your power armor."
"That means any of you," Arthur addressed all of us. "And please… stay safe down there."
"Piece of cake," Chelsy said.
Arthur turned and looked at Chelsy and smiled. "Perfectly preserved pie on me when you return."
"Can you make it Fancy Lad Cakes?" she asked.
"Absolutely," he said.
"Good luck," Ingram said to me. "Remember, just holler if you need backup."

We walked down a several flights of stairs to the sublevels of what used to be the Pentagon. On the very bottom floor there was a long hallway that led to a doorway that had Utility Tunnels painted in faded black paint. On the other side of the door there was the beginning of the sewers. There wasn't any water here, just a downward slope that lead into darkness. The sound of water rushing in the distance of the direction we were heading could be heard. We walked with our headlamps on until we could see the light of the checkpoint where four Brotherhood guards greeted us.
"It's been a quiet night," one of them informed me. "Not one shriek."
"The weather is getting colder," another one said. "They become less active when it's colder."
"Also hungrier," one finally said.
They let us through a barbed wired chain linked fence that lead into pitch black darkness.
When our feet first hit the water is when my rad meter started ticking.
"Alright hold up," I ordered. "Chelsy and Rodregez, you two take point. Jackson, you're with me… The others stay alert… keep your eyes and ears focused."
We walked for a while, still on a downward slope with water flowing almost to our knees in the power armor when we came to an intersection.
"Which way, ma'am," Chelsy asked. "The rads seem stronger straight on."
"Straight it is," I said.
I pulled down an attachment to my helmet that brought up the map screen on the right side. My pipboy was mapping the area as we walked. The water was now roaring ahead of us, and the current was getting stronger.
My map showed 4 red blips on the screen.
"I have movement ahead," I said. "Safeties off."
We all powered our laser rifles up and looked for any movement.
The ticks of my rad meter were getting louder and more frequent.
Then a shriek was heard maybe 20 feet ahead.
"Enemy contact," Rodregez said.
"Free to engage," I ordered.
Lasers shot and disintegrated two ferals.
Around 10 more blips filled my screen from further down the path.
"Multiple enemies ahead," I yelled. Jackson and I moved ahead to help Rodregez and Chelsy. I heard the others wade through the water behind us.
I saw the shadow figures coming toward us.
"Open fire," I yell.
The four of hit the targets with precision, but more blips kept popping up on my screen.
"Fuck," I yelled. "We hit the hive."
The four of us kneel down in the water and take aim and fired at anything that moved.
The other four behind us stood up and kept firing into the darkness.
We kept shooting, but the number of blips kept increasing.
"Grenades ma'am," Jackson yelled. "Throw the grenades."
"Sqaud 57 do you require assist?" I head over the radio.
"Affirmative," I said calmly. "This is Sentinel Maxson requiring assistance. Multiple enemy contact."
I took off my first grenade and threw it far down into the tunnel.
"Fire in the hole" Jackson yelled.
A green plasma static field exploded ahead of us. The ground shook a little.
"They are still there," I said the blimps seemed to be blocked by something. "But they aren't moving."
Multiple screeches came from down the hall.
"Maybe they are paralyzed," Chelsy said. "We need to finish them."
"Right," I said. "Chelsy, you and I will investigate. Rodregez fall back but keep close."
"Understood," Rodregez said.
As we walked down the tunnel, the water got swifter and the current was even stronger. It was hard to maintain traction, the floor under the water felt slimy."
"Stop," I ordered. "It's getting too hard to walk here."
"I'm slipping," Chelsy said. The current kept pushing her downstream.
"Grab my hand," I say reaching out to her. She grabs it but her feet give out from under her and she pulls us down we started floating down stream. With my free hand I mange to feel a pipe along the wall. I try to grab it as we got close to where the explosion took place. A newly formed hole in the floor created a waterfall that cascaded down to another level. One the other side of the hole screeching ghouls yelled at us. A few of them fall into the hole. I grabbed the pipe as hard as I could to keep us from moving closer to the hole. We slid closer and closer to what appeared to be a pit of darkness. My hand hit something I could hold on to. I grabbed it and we came to a stop.
I dangled there gripping Chelsy with one hand and the pipe with another.
"We need a rope," I yelled into the radio. "Repeat we need a rope."
"Hold on," Jackson yelled. "I'm coming down."
"Negative," I yell. "The current is too strong. Stay where you are."
Water rushed over my helmet, and I couldn't see what was going on. I tried to pull Chelsy up.
"Grab my belt with your free hand," I yell at her.
Her hand reaches up and she grabs the belt that the grenades are attached to. The extra weight pulls me forward we are now face to face under the water.
"Hold on," I yell.
"I can't," she yells back.
"I'm going to try to pull us up," I say.
"No," she says. "I'm weighing you down."
"Hold on! That's an order," I shout.
She turns and faces downstream.
"It's been an honor ma'am." She lets go and is washed down towards the hole.
"No," I yell. I let go of the pipe and instinctively try to grab her. I slip down close behind her into the hole face first. I try to straighten myself upwards but eventually I hear a splash. Then I hit water and sink down deep. I look up, my headlamp is still glowing. Then I look down into the deep and see Chelsy's light and I see more red blips coming close to us."
"We have company," I said.
Something grabs me and pulls me sidesways in the water. It's too strong to be feral. I try and shine my lamp at the creature pulling me through the water. Then something hits the glass of my helmet. It's a claw. It's a crab claw.
"Mirelurks," I yell. I try to bat it away, but I could barely move my arms through the water.
The claw once again hits my helmet, this time putting a crack in the glass. I try to move the claw away from my head, but it clenches tighter putting a hole in the glass. Water starts coming in.
"I'm taking on water," I say. But I hear nothing but static.
I try to think as the cold-water rushes down through my armor, pulling both me and the mirelurk down.
I have to eject, I thought. Eventually this suit is going to fill up and I'll drown. I need to try to swim to the top. I eject myself from the suit and I saw the mirelurk and the suit sink below. I swim upwards. I keep swimming up, hoping I hit air. Finally, I reach air. Noxious fumes fill the air, but I can breathe. I lay on my back trying to keep myself afloat and try to make little or no movement so no more predators in this water could detect me.
Something grabs my leg and pulls me under. I struggle for the air I was just breathing but keep on getting pulled under. I give up.
Goodbye world, I thought.
