This is it, everyone. The moment you've all been waiting for. The final chapter. Now I know you all hate to see this story end, but all good things must come to an end...like Amphibia! I know it's been a few weeks, but I still miss it! And with Owl House on hiatus, my Saturdays are going to be boring! Well at least Miraculous is on its way. And with the way they ended the previous season, yeesh! The kid gloves are coming off this season!
Any who! The final chapter!
3 years later.
Music was thumping on a rooftop garden as a large group of friends danced the night away.
Nino was in the DJ booth with Wayzz beside him spinning some sweet tunes. A banner hung above him that said "Happy 18th Birthday, Marinette!". The birthday girl was on the dance floor with all her friends and their kwami's.
One person wasn't with her though.
Adrien stood next to the stage and watched his girlfriend. She looked so happy and carefree.
In his hand was a small ring box. Tonight, he had a promise to keep. Now if only he could do it. He practiced with Plagg, but now that it was time, it felt like he Cataclysmed his gut.
"You ready to pop the question?"
Nino and Wayzz came up from behind him and slung his arm around Adrien's shoulder.
"Well. uh, y-you see," he stuttered.
"Lover boy here is getting cold feet," Plagg said.
"I am not!" Adrien exclaimed, "I'm just waiting for the right moment."
"And when will be the right moment?" Wayzz asked.
Adrien couldn't say. This was the biggest most important yes or no question in his life. What she said could change everything. This marriage proposal had to go perfectly.
He practiced with Plagg and even went over with Nino what song he would ask her with.
"The longer you wait, dude, the harder it will be," Nino pointed out.
"I don't get you humans. It's a simple question," Plagg said, "All you have to do it go over there and say 'Marinette, will you-'"
Adrien quickly grabbed him and covered his mouth before anyone heard him.
"Not so loud, Plagg!" Adrien whispered angrily.
"Come now, Plagg. We all know what an important courtship moment this is for Adrien," Wayzz said, "Do not forget all those proposals your past owners made to their Ladybugs."
"Well if he doesn't ask, I'll do it for him," he said.
Never in a million years! If Plagg asked her, Marinette would definitely say no! Adrien had to be the one to propose.
"Ok. I'll do it. I've got this," he said, "Here I go!"
Nino, Wayzz, and Plagg cheered him on, but stopped when they saw he wasn't moving.
"Uh, dude?" Nino said.
"Why are you not moving?" Wayzz asked.
"Uh, I can't feel my legs. I think I should have this checked out at the hospital. I'll ask her another time," he said quickly.
The three sighed. Looked like they had to switch to Plan B. They didn't want to do this, but Adrien left them no choice.
Nino went over to him and looked into his eyes.
"Sorry, bro. But we're doing this for you," he apologized, then yelled, "Now, Plagg!"
Nino held Adrien back and covered his mouth so he couldn't transform as Plagg flew up to the stage. Wayzz turned the music down so everyone could hear.
"Your attention, please! Would everyone except Marinette step off the dance floor! And would Adrien step forward? Lover boy has something he would like to ask the princess."
Everyone made a circle around Marinette to give her and Adrien some room. But Adrien wanted to disappear. He couldn't do this!
"You'll thank me for this later," Nino whispered and pushed him into the circle. A spotlight shone on them both, making them the center of attention.
"Um, hi," he bashfully said.
"Hi," she greeted back, "Plagg said there was something you wanted to ask me?"
He began to blush and looked down only to see something. There, on Marinette's finger, was the ladybug bead ring he made those years ago. He had seen her wear it sometimes, but seeing her wear it tonight just gave him a boost. He took a deep breath before he spoke.
"Marinette, honey. M'lady. Light of my life-"
"Get on with it!" Plagg yelled.
"Thank you, Plagg!" he growled through gritted teeth, then turned back to her, "You know how much I love you. You're my best friend, partner, and everything good in my life. The ring on your finger was symbol of a promise I made to you one night. Now, I'm here to fulfill that promise in the form of a poem. Ahem...roses are red. Cat Noir's eyes are green."
A few people, including Marinette, laughed a little at his joke. He sometimes joked when he was nervous. But now was for real. He nodded at Nino to start.
A soft piano tune played.
Marinette recognized it instantly. In the Rain! Their song!
The group gasped as he got down on one knee and held her hand.
"Stop me if you've heard this one," he said and started reciting a revised poem.
"Your hair is dark as midnight
Your pretty bluebell eyes
I used to wonder who you are beneath that strong disguise
Everyday we see each other, you bring light into my life
Together our love can be so true
Will you be my wife?"
He presented the ring box to her, a beautiful flower shaped gem on it.
Marinette had been waiting for this moment for so long. She could hear some of them sniffling and see their phones out recording. They were waiting for her answer.
Luckily, she had an answer with her own revised poem.
She looked into his eyes and smiled lovingly as she said
"Your hair shines like sunshine
Your eyes are gorgeous emerald green
I used to look at you and wonder your inner most dreams
Yes, your wife I will be
Our love is oh so true
Together for eternity
My heart belongs to you!"
The roof was filled with claps and cheers and whistles as Adrien stood up and kissed her.
"She said yes. SHE SAID YES!" he yelled.
He picked her up and spun her around, making her laugh even harder.
Some of her friends went over to admire her ring while the boys clapped Adrien on the back to congratulate him. He looked up at Nino, mouthing the words "thank you". Nino was so going to be his best man.
Marinette looked around and felt so lucky. She had the most amazing teammates and friends, and the most wonderful boyfriend now fiancé she could ever hope for.
Her life truly was...Miraculous.
