She was in love with him. She was. But he was in love with someone else. Even if they were in a relationship together, all he talked about was her.
How he wished he could have made things right. That he screwed up so badly.
Been a better man unlike he was back then.
Apparently, he was in a lot of depts and did drugs back in college. Something that his ex-girlfriend tried and failed to get him out of. She begged but he would push her away and tell her to stay out of it.
That she wasn't enough and it had nothing to do with her. It got to a point she ended the relationship.
It hurts, so much. Her name in question was Karin Uzumaki a well-known model and actress now.
In comparison, Sakura felt like she couldn't compete.
But Sakura listens to him, listens as he talks about the girl that he claims he 'once loved.' Yet to anyone else, it was obvious he still harboured feelings for her.
Don't get her wrong, he was a very affectionate and loving boyfriend.
((Even if all this was in the privacy of their own home.))
It was how she fell for him in the first place.
They were coworkers who both worked in a bookstore.
Thinking back on it, he didn't seem like the type but he couldn't be picky about getting his life back together.
A friend had put in a good word for him, which is how he got the job. Any other place shot him down. It must have been fate, Sakura thinks. When she met him, they didn't really talk much at first. He was way too intimating and scary for Sakura to approach but was surprised at how he made the first move. Well, he asked her a question and then soon more questions about what book goes where to what she liked to read and 'can you deal with this customer? I don't think they like me.'
Oh and then they finally got to know each other personally. Playing 20 questions.
Sakura's idea.
And went from friends to lovers.
It was like a dream come true, a handsome attractive man sweeping her off her feet.
Until Karin came up.
Ino was always there for her, but even she couldn't keep up the charade anymore.
"Forehead, I know you love him but...he's still not over his ex. This isn't fair to you, or to him. You say that he'll move on in time but it's very obvious that you both are miserable."
"We're not all the time! He cares about me he-" she tries to defend. "Yes, he cares but he doesn't love you! I'm sorry forehead but I only want what's best for you... and I don't think it's him. Well not right now anyway." She may have a point, so Sakura decides to end it.
Under the impression that they can try again later. When he's over her. He begs at first, promising never to mention Karin again. Sakura doesn't believe him though and doesn't blame him. Getting over a first love is difficult and he needed time.
It took a while but they remained friends and got back into their usual teasing habit. And then the news dropped.
"Me and Karin are back together." Ouch! So much for trying again. Still, Sakura smiles and said she was happy for him.
That's all she wanted anyway, was for him to be happy. Even if wasn't her, it wasn't a surprise. And he must have loved her a LOT.
Pretending to be okay with it was not a good idea because months later he introduces them. And wow she's so much prettier up close.
Karin knows the two dated, he doesn't hide anything from her but she doesn't mind. She feels bad for Sakura since it's obvious he can't see how much pain she's in and believes in her fake smile.
But hopes someday she can find someone too.
It's their wedding now and Sakura is there celebrating along with family and friends. Yes, it's weird to be at your ex's wedding but she really does want happiness for them. Despite the differences, Sakura and Karin had a lot in common, who knew? And honestly, Sakura never hated the girl that took her lover away. She never had him to begin with.
She watches the newly couple kiss and acts all lovey-dovey around each other for the rest of the night. They've been through hell and back but finally made it.
With a heavy heart, Sakura wishes them all the best and turns around planning on moving on and maybe, dare she say it. Find someone else too.
And spills her wine on someone else's suit.
FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! It looked expensive too.
Sakura gulps as if her life couldn't get any worse.
"Omg, I'm so sorry!" Flailing her arms about embarrassed and mortified.
"It's fine," the gruff voice replied and she peaks at him. Shit, he's attractive too and why does he look so familiar?
Beautiful onyx eyes and a complexion of a God. She always has to leave a bad first impression on the good looking ones huh?
"I swear, I'll pay for it-" another voice interrupts her. His voice.
"Sasuke! You made it and here's me thinking you wouldn't make it to our wedding." The groom smirks, holding his now-wife by the hip, she greets him as well. So they all know each other? Well, this is fantastic.
"You wouldn't let me hear the end of it and Jugo gave me a lift." He replies to the white-haired male. Doing his best to clean up the wine. Sakura blushes, talk about mortifying. Suigetsu seems to notice. "What happened here?" He turns to her.
"I... I may have accidentally... bumped into him..." Sakura mumbles looking away. "I plan on paying for the clean up don't worry." Suigetsu laughs. "Really Sasuke? You're going to let her pay for that? I think a guy like you can pay for a new suit never mind a wash and dry."
"I was never going to let her!" He snarls angrily at the accusation. "You weren't?" Sakura is surprised. I mean really, it's her fault so it was the least she could do. Karin speaks up then.
"You are aware he's an Uchiha right, Sasuke's practically loaded. This is nothing in comparison." The woman tries to reassure her, but it only made Sakura feel worse. Karin sweatdrops. He was an Uchiha? Her skin turns pale. This night really did take a turn for the worst.
"I... I'm really sorry." Sakura bows her head, Sasuke is taken aback by her strange behaviour. It really wasn't a big deal. "I told you it's fine. I can pay for it." He shrugs.
"At least let me do something, I'll feel bad otherwise." She insists, so he gives in.
"You could get me another glass of wine." Oh, Sakura hadn't even realised he was carrying one. "Right!" She turns all flustered, completely forgetting where the bar was and starts looking around amusing the three.
"It's this way." Sasuke points his hand on her back guiding her there. She blushes at his close proximity. Suigetsu and Karin share a knowing look. "We'll leave you two lovebirds to it then." Suigetsu grins, taking his wife to the dance floor.
She stays with him, keeps him company and gets to know him better. Apparently, the three of them were long term friends so it surprised her how despite dating they never met. But then she remembers he's an Uchiha so he must be busy. Although he had heard of her.
Suigetsu talked about her to him all the time along with his still present feelings for Karin. It surprised him how they were even a couple as Sakura and Karin are two very different people. She definitely didn't match with Suigetsu.
He wants to see her again.
He. Sasuke Uchiha wants to see her again.
When Sakura said she planned to find someone else, she didn't think it would be so soon and with the earlier fiasco in her mind panicked.
And told him she needed to use the bathroom.
A quick glance out she ran to Ino explaining what happened.
"Woah, so let me get this straight. He wants to see you again and you bail to the bathroom?" Sakura meekly nodded.
"The fuck forehead? Don't you want to be happy? Go get his number or I'll ask for it in your place instead."
That was the last thing she wanted, so with the threat in mind shyly went back to him.
He seemed to have noticed her with the blonde girl and smirked when she bashfully admitted to wanting to see him again too.
He was a lot different from Suigetsu. Sakura thought she experienced love but that was far from the truth. Like Ino said, Suigetsu cared about her, but never loved her.
Couldn't love her. He was in love with someone else.
Sasuke though gave her his entire love. Gave her his heart and likewise, she gave him hers. She couldn't be happier as she played with Sasuke's hair. His head on her lap. "I still can't believe you went out with that idiot." She blushes.
"It was a phase." Yeah, let's call it that.
AN: Soooo, did you see the plot twist coming? ;) Well, maybe you did if you read it on Twitter haha.
I'm kind of on and off with the summary though, on one hand, I don't want to make it too obvious buuut on the other... I don't want people to be put off BY the summary LMAO. I know summaries are important since I too like to avoid angst fics.
I am thinking of making a part two with Sasuke/Sakura dating. And him helping her move on from Suigetsu. Haven't thought of ideas yet so we'll see.
