AN: It's been so long since I've last written anything for this fandom (or at all. Period.) This is just a re-write of a former Jessie story that was previously made back when the series finale aired in October of 2015 after our favorite nanny leaves for Hollywood. There are spoilers for both said episode and the spin-off Bunk'd, so best not to read this if you don't like them.
Oh, and I went with the name Chantal from "Lights, Camera, Distraction!" for Jessie's middle name since the show didn't reveal it (at least not to my knowledge. No, wikis don't count.) and I too really like the name.
Enjoy. :)
Disclaimer: I don't own Jessie.
Dear Diary,
Mission Accomplished. Finally, four long years of pounding the pavement and many pathetic auditions later had totally paid off. Of course, it wouldn't be possible without my kids and their encouragement.
In your face, Darla. Turns out I didn't need to marry Brooks in order to become famous. Mom would've been proud of my lifelong achievement. So would the kids.
Geez, how I miss those rambunctious rascals frequently at each other's throats causing me to be at the end of my rope. Don't even get me started on the frustrating morning rush I had gone through every single day. What a challenge.
Pretty darn difficult not to stress out when it feels like your whole freaking world is crashing down around you. Life is rough sometimes, but the most important thing is never let it get you down. Never stop trying.
Were there days I was thinking about raising the white flag? Affirmative. In fact, it almost DID happen.
No matter how discouraged I felt I would silently tell myself repeatedly day after day that I wouldn't back down when things got out of control. Remain calm and highly optimistic about reaching my goals on being a nanny and becoming an actress. Morgan and Christina were both counting on me. They all took a chance on me. I just couldn't let them down.
Honestly, I didn't just see myself as a nanny but a proud mother of four. I was relentlessly frantic and overprotective over their safety.
Okay, so perhaps I worried a little too much.
Hey, just doing the nanny thing. After all, it's in my job description. No matter what was thrown my way (Yes, sometimes things were literally thrown at me. Both insults and objects. Mainly the former.) I always tried my very best to make things right in the end and be there to support my kids anyway I possibly could.
Sure, they may not always say they've appreciated my help or advice, but deep down I knew they truly did regardless. Especially Emma and Ravi.
From the infamous Halloween episodes to the not-so-ordinary Christmas penthouse caper with Teddy and PJ one thing was certain.
Every day truly felt like a party whenever they were present. Wish they were here.
Jessica Chantal Prescott had just finished writing her latest diary entry on her laptop. A steaming hot cup of coffee sat there beside it. The only thing that was keeping her from drifting off after another long exhausting day of filming and signing tons of autographs.
Boy, she sure wished she had Emma's enthusiasm right about now. Anything to take her mind off this extreme tiredness she'd felt.
Taking a careful sip from the old 'World's Best Nanny' coffee mug she safely kept wrapped up in bubble wrap inside her luggage Jessie pulled out her cellphone, scrolling through some old photos from her many New York City adventures. Memories she would forever cherish. The last picture taken was from that day when the Ross kids accidentally ran her down with a golf cart after they came back to visit on set.
She was about to call Emma when the sound of her usual cheery voice suddenly rang throughout her bedroom.
Alright. I definitely gotta change that ringtone. It's giving me an annoying ear worm. Although I still do love this song. Reminds me of my relationship with Tony.
"Hey Emma, what's up? How's camp been treating ya? I was actually just about to call and see how things are going."
"Hey Jessie! It's going great. A lot has happened since you've left. Omg, guess what? I got a job as camp counselor." Emma squealed, bouncing up and down unable to contain her sudden burst of energy.
Jessie immediately withdrew her phone away from her ear in alarm. Her sudden fatigue that previously hit like a ton of bricks seconds ago quickly slipping away.
"Okay…. now that I'm way more alert and my ear isn't ringing anymore. Wow Emma, that's so awesome. Sounds like camps been treating ya great. I'm so proud of you. I think you're gonna make a great leader, just like yours truly. It's crazy to see just how much you kids had grown since I first became your new nanny. Bet Bertram's enjoying the kid and giant lizard free penthouse now as we speak." she replied with an eye roll.
Emma rolled her own eyes at the thought of the usual grumpy butler enjoying his bad taste in music while cooking one of his favorite cheese related dishes.
"He's just glad to be finally rid of Luke's annoying pranks while he's away at summer school. Even though he's way too proud to admit it I know he still does really care about all of us deep down. Listen, I'm really sorry that we snuck onto your movie set without permission and adult supervision, Jessie. Still can't believe I was the one to come up with such a dangerous and stupid idea. Usually, it's Luke who does. So, how's Hollywood?"
"It feels so surreal, but I'm loving every minute of it. You're forgiven, sweetie. Don't worry. I'm just so glad you're all safe and sound. And hey, if you guys hadn't climbed up there in the first place then maybe I wouldn't had been given the incredible opportunity of a lifetime to star in my very own show."
Emma smiled sheepishly. "Uh...right. Anyway, I just wanna say thanks again for saving us, Jessie. And always supporting us no matter what. We really miss you."
"My pleasure, Emma. I really miss you guys too. Just remember if you ever wanna chat about anything I'm only one call away." The former nanny responded in her motherly tone.
"Who knows? Maybe I'll drop by camp sometime during summer vacation if I get any time off from my busy work schedule. How's that sound?"
"Sounds perfect. Lou's been dying to meet the famous Jessie Prescott ever since I've been telling her about our crazy cliffhanger of an adventure in Los Angeles. Literally. Seriously, she reminds me so much of you."
Jessie chuckled. "At least you've got a little piece of me at camp. Can't wait to meet her whenever I come visit."
"Emma, come quick!'' Zuri called out from her cabin. ''Ravi needs help with the campers!"
Without delay, Emma placed a hand over the receiver so Jessie couldn't hear Zuri's frantic response. "Okay, tell Ravi I'll be right there. Well, guess I better go now. Gotta keep an eye on Zuri and the other campers. Talk to you later, Jess. I love you."
"Love you too, Em. Take care."
When Jessie was one hundred percent certain that Emma hung up once she heard the line go dead, she hit the end call button and sadly glanced back at the picture of her new family.
"Don't worry, Jessie." She heard Zuri calmly say within her mind seconds later. The exact same words that were spoken shortly after Jessie's unplanned yet outstanding heroic rescue mission.
"We'll be okay."
Those kids. She wouldn't be here right now living her dream of stardom without their help. Even though being a nanny definitely wasn't her idea of a future career Jessie still thanked her lucky stars for bringing them into her life.
With a proud smile she gave her standard reply.
"I know you will. After all, I've taught you well."
