Numbuh 86 wanted to get Numbuh 362 to sign some papers for decommissioning approval for some rogue operatives so she went to moonbase central command room
"Numbuh 35 where is Rachel?" Fanny asked holding a stack of papers in her hands
"Wait, you mean you aren't with her? She hasn't shown up the entire day I thought she was with you" He said
"She didn't show up for work? that isn't like her, maybe she has a cold" Fanny picked her communicator and dialed Rachel while she left her paperwork in Numbuh 35 desk and went on walking it took a few minutes until Rachel picked up the phone
"H-hello… who is it?" Rachel said, she was sobbing and sounded sad over the line, Fanny could also hear her blowing her nose
"Rachel? Are you okay? You haven't show up today" Numbuh 86 stopped walking and focused on her phone now clearly worried
"I just realized I'm a horrible person…" she started crying over the line "And that I'm probably going to live the rest of my life alone like the crazy cat lady" she started crying louder over the phone
"Oh boy…" Numbuh 86 said clearly uncomfortable but trying to understand what happened to her friend "Why don't you tell me what happened?" she said in a supportive tone
Rachel hanged up on Fanny at that instant
"Great…" Numbuh 86 facepalmed
"Hey Numbuh 86, have you seen Rachel?" It was Numbuh 60 holding some files
"Patton, do you consider yourself a friend of Rachel" Fanny asked him
"Of course, she enlisted with me, why?" He asked confused at Fanny
"I think she has a problem… Can you cover for her while I take a ship to her house?" Fanny asked
"You just needed to say the first part" he smiled at her while he sat on Rachel's chair in central command
"Don't think this changes the fact you are a stupid boy Drilovsky" she smiled at him and ran to the main ship hangar
After a few hours passed Numbuh 86 had finally reached Rachel's house, she knocked on the door to be greeted by her mother who gave her some cookies while saying her daughter was upstairs with the common cold
Fanny got upstairs and knocked on Rachel's bedroom door "Common cold huh? must be a bother, do you wanna talk about it?"
"Why are you here?" Rachel asked sobbing hearing Fanny through the door
I noticed you were crying during that call I gave you and decided to see how you are, come on we are all girls here you know you can talk to me" she said while pressing her ear against the door
Rachel sighed and got up to unlock the door "Hey…"
When she opened the door Fanny could see the state Rachel was in, her hair was all messy not only that but she was stinking, she had bags under her eyes and you could see they were also puffy from all the crying and on top of that she was wearing her supreme leader clothes from yesterday, she was hugging a teddy bear H-Hey…" Fanny tried not to pinch her nose and not say she looked disgusting
Rachel went back to her bed and laid on it while looking at the ceiling, she pressed the teddy bear on her face and resumed crying
"Can you tell me what happened now, so I can help you?" Fanny put a hand on her friend's shoulder
Rachel took out the teddy bear from her face and looked at Fanny "You know Nigel Uno correct? from sector V" she said
"Of course, he is one of the most well-known operatives today, I had my run-ins with him in the past" she said looking at her friend
"Do you know I like him?" Rachel asked her friend while she hugged tight her teddy bear
"Oh…" Fanny looked at Rachel starting to understand what happened "I see where this is going"
"His girlfriend, that Lizzie girl broke up with him… I tried asking him out to eat meatball sandwiches at moonbase right after it happened while he was in a state of complete sadness" she buried her face on her teddy bear "I'm the worst" she said while she started crying again "Of course he rejected my invite and the only thing I could do after that was give him a pat in the back and say I would be there if he needed to talk, I'm such an idiot"
"Hey it's okay, I can't say I know how you feel but I sure can try comforting you, here i thought this could happen and brought this with me" Fanny pushed a container from her bag and inside it there was an ice cream bucket with a spoon on it "Eat away, I'm here to hear you"
Rachel sat in her bed, opened the bucket and started eating it, she stopped crying and after a few minutes started talking "He helped me a lot in the Tag game back when I didn't want to be supreme leader anymore, I really managed to find myself back then you know that?"
"I wish I could have helped you back then but I didn't know what to say at the time" Fanny said while looking at Rachel "Feeling better?"
"A bit, I still feel like thrash though, do you think I will ever have a chance with him?" Rachel asked her friend
"Well… you are one of the most beautiful operatives in the organization so I would say your chances are pretty high and he is no idiot he will get over his break up one day" she laughed but was cut short by a foul smell coming from Rachel "Uhhh… can I request something Sir?"
"Sure, what is it?" Rachel blew her nose and proceeded to eat another spoonful of ice cream
"Could you take a bath? I can't take it anymore you are smelling like sewage" Fanny said while covering her nose
"Oh… sorry about that" she blushed a little "I went straight to my bedroom yesterday and stayed crying the entire night" Rachel got up from her bed "I will be back" she said before leaving the room with a towel and a change of clothes
Numbuh 86 proceeded to clean her friend's bedroom while she took a bath, it had a few tissues on the floor wet with tears and snot from her friend, the covers on her bed were also a bit wet with tears so she changed those as well "All done" she waited a few more minutes before her friend came through the door with her hair in proper shape wearing her casual clothes and most important not smelling bad anymore
"Yeah… I needed that" she said while sitting on her bed again and looking around her room "You didn't need to clean it you know?"
"Oh but I needed" she said "Hey, let me ask you something, do you think you could approve his decommissioning juuust for a little bit so I could hunt him down and decommission him just out of pure anger for him making you sad?" she said giving a playful smile at her friend
"Don't even joke about something like that" she sighed "I'm not angry at him nor do I plan to give up on him so soon" she took another spoonful of ice cream "I just wish I weren't such an idiot…"
"Oh come here…" Fanny hugged Rachel, they stayed like that for a few hours while Rachel talked about her previous day and how she felt guilty about what happened until she fell asleep from exhaustion since she didn't sleep the previous night
Fanny left her friend's house and went back to the Moonbase happy she could help the best way she could, there she met Patton "Hey, thanks for covering for her" Fanny waved at Patton
"No problem, what happened to her? Is she okay?"
Fanny sighed "Normally I would say it's none of your business but since you are friends and you helped me cover for her here… she got rejected by a boy and was crying until a few minutes ago"
"I see…and who is it?" Patton asked with a sarcastic grin
"I think you will have to figure this one out by yourself" she said grinning at him
"Yeah… I will probably ask Numbuh 1 from Sector V about it" he chuckled
"You are an idiot" she gave him a strong punch in the chest while smiling
Patton laughed "Sorry… sorry…" he said while rubbing the spot she punched him "I hope she gets what she wants though"
"Tell me about it" she sighed
