Bella and Jacen were standing in the Galactic Alliance Med Center looking down through at the young girl lying on the bed. Dr. Daedalus a doctor they both knew quite well was examining her.

Finally, after a few minutes he straightened up.

"Well Dr. D.," asked Bella, "is this who we think it is?"

"Judging from the old medical records you brought me, yes I'd say so." Replied the Doctor

"I wonder how she got trapped in that ice?" mused Jacen

"Well in a few minutes, when she comes around you can ask her." replied Dr. D.

"She's Alive?! Cried Bella

Dr. Daedalus nodded

"Whatever froze her in that ice block used a process so instantaneous and perfect that she is fully preserved and living."

A few minutes later…

Mildred stirred and opened her eyes. Looking around she saw that she was in what appeared to be some kind of hospital. Then she noticed a young man sitting in a chair over by the wall he had seen she was awake and was nudging the auburn-haired girl next to him to get her attention.

She looked up from the tablet she was reading and her eyes widened when she saw Mildred looking at them.

"Hello Mildred," she said getting up quickly and coming over to her, "It's an honor to meet you?"

"Uh where am I? who are you and where's my Mum?

Jacen and Bella shared an uneasy look and sighed.

"Mildred," said Jacen, "My name is Jacen Blackstone and This Is Belladonna Jade."

"Now," said Bella, "There's no easy way to tell you this so, I'll just tell you straight out. you've been frozen in Magical Ice for 503 years this is the year 2521 in the 26th century."

Jacen motioned with his hand and the window shutters slid open revealing he outside world to Mildred. Mildred's mouth dropped open, their was flying transport of all shapes and sizes zooming here and there between all manner of futuristic gleaming buildings.

Mildred looked a little stunned as the shutters closed. Then her eyes began to well up.

"My Mum and everything I've ever know is long gone, I'm alone." She said a sob in her voice.

"No," said Bella and Jacen going to comfort her, "You're not alone, you have family!"

"Who, where?" asked Mildred

"Here, Me, I'm your family," said Bella giving her a gentle hug, "My full name is Belladonna Jade Hubble I am your ten greats niece."

"But that can't be," said Mildred, "I have no siblings!"

"Yes, you do, or did," said Jacen, "You had a half sister you never knew about, you two had the same father but different mothers. Her name was Isabella Jones and after you disappeared, she had her last name changed to Hubble in honor of you."

Mildred sat there in silence for several seconds. Jacen and Bella guest that she was feeling overwhelmed and rightly so. To wake up over 500 years in the future and realize that everyone you ever knew is long gone- even a sister you never knew you had.

Bella and Jacen waited patiently for her to digest what she had been told.

"What am I to do?" she said shakily, "I have no home, nothing."

"You do have a home, with me," said Bella, "I've already taken care of that, you'll live with me and my family, because my family is also your family."

Mildred smiled gratefully.

"Thank you," she said

"Mildred," said Jacen, "We were wondering how you came to be trapped in that Ice in the first place?"

Mildred furrowed her eyebrows and thought a moment.

"Well, the last day that I remember before waking up here we were having a contest at school where we were supposed to invent our own brand-new potion and spell. There was a prize for the winner not only would the potion and spell be sent to the grand wizard and entered into the official catalog of magic, but the winner herself would receive a plaque engraved with their likeness and hung in Cackle's front hall."

"And are you saying that your accident was the result of the potion you were trying to invent?" asked Bella

Mildred shook her head.

"No way," said Mildred "I was only in my second year and potions was my worst subject!"

"Somebody else did this to you?!" exclaimed Jacen, "That means this wasn't an accident!"

"Well, maybe not the freezing me in a block of ice part," replied Mildred, "But I'm sure she didn't intend for me to disappear for five centuries and change!"

"She who?" asked Bella

"There was a girl at Cackles who hated me right from the start," said Mildred, "Her name was Ethel Hallow."

At the name Hallow both Bella and Jacen groaned.

"I take it Ethel's descendants haven't changed much!" said Mildred

Jacen nodded.

"If you mean they're still, impatient, vindictive, selfish and petty, then yes you're right." He replied

"And you think Ethel Hallow was responsible the ice?" asked Bella

Mildred nodded.

"Ethel would stop at nothing to get what she wanted, and she couldn't stand the thought of anyone being better at anything that she was, now the last thing that I remember before I woke up here was walking down the hall at Cackles. I was on my way back to my room when suddenly I saw a blinding flash of light, and the next thing I know, I'm waking up in the here and now. She must have intended to seal me away so I couldn't finish my project by the deadline, and then release me after I had been disqualified."

Bella nodded beginning to understand

"Ethel sealed you in the ice, but she must have underestimated the power she was tampering with, and once it was done, she couldn't undo it!"

"Well why wouldn't she tell anyone?" asked Jacen, "You know. get some help?"

"I can answer that," said Mildred, "The Hallows value their reputation and the protection of their family name above all else. If it had come out that Ethel had tampered with power beyond her control, and that she had used it to attack another student, her families' reputation and respect in the magic community would have been completely destroyed not to mention their power and influence with the magic council."

"This worries me," said Jacen gravely, "If she was willing to leave you sealed in that ice forever…,

"Then," finished Bella, "What will the Hallow family do now?!"
