"997, how can I help you?"
"Help! One of my cats is stuck in a tree, and he can't get down! I brought him his favorite foods and toys, even his chariot harness, but that didn't work-."
"Please calm down, ma'am. Don't worry. We'll send someone to get your cat."
"Oh, thank you! I am most indebted to you."
"Er... right. Could you please give me your location?"
And that was how Greg ended up spending the past hour climbing Yttrium or whatever this tree's name was called. The cat was so high up that not even the firetruck's lift could reach it. At least he had finally reached it. Freyja and her brother Freyr watched worriedly from the foot of the tree.
"Please be careful!" the goddess called to Greg. She grabbed her second cat, who looked like he was making up his mind to climb the tree as well. The firefighter gave her a thumbs-up and reached for the trapped cat, who was clinging on to one of the smaller branches like a bunch of mistletoe. The fluffy creature squirmed a little but behaved quite well, for he realized that he was being rescued. Thank goodness Greg was excellent with cats. But now he wasn't quite relishing the idea of taking another hour to get back to the firetruck's lift.
Freyja noticed his predicament. "Oh of course! Why didn't I think of it earlier? Here Freyr, take Trjegul. I'll be right back!" She gave the other cat to her brother and vanished. It wasn't long before she reappeared again. She was now wearing a weird-looking shirt that seemed to be made of bird feathers. Freyja jumped, the shirt's feathers whistling in the wind. "Stay where you are!" she shouted to Greg. The firefighter did so and was greatly surprised when she snatched him off the branch he was on.
The goddess flew back to safety, gently depositing Greg on the ground. "My dear silly Bygul," she crooned to the rescued cat as she scooped it up in her arms. Then she beamed at the firefighter. "How can I ever repay you for your help? You are one of the bravest humans I have had the fortune of meeting."
Greg chuckled. "Just doing my job. Let me know if you need any more help!"
