Hey, hey. I'm still alive! Its been a few years but hopefully I am somewhat back to a regular posting schedule. I am still in love with reading fanfiction, but obviously the writing part is where I get easily distracted on. Life happens and I get wayyyy behind. Anyway, this is another Ruffnut Centered story because she is a legit QUEEN and is soooo underrated. The movies were good but Dreamworks did Ruffnut dirty when they didn't include the twins' character development in the movies - like how they portrayed her in Dragons RTTE. Ugh. So wasteful.

Anyywaaay, This story takes place after the third movie in the franchise. Dragons not included.

ALSO. Yes. I am still working on my most popular HTTYD story, "Worth". I am revising previous chapters and working on future chapters. It has not been forgotten and will be finished eventually!

CHAPTER 1

Ruffnut had never heard of an actual man scream as horrible as he did when her teeth ripped off the flesh at the top of his ear. The man was failing around, flopping like a fish out of water, grasping at her with his ear in her mouth. Blood splattered from the man's head as she was peeled off him and was thrown to the ground roughly. There was no time to dwell on the rough landing and was quick to regain her fighting stance. She could feel warm, sticky liquid pouring from her nose and mouth. The taste was bitter – a mixture of her blood and his.

Ruffnut didn't care. Ruffnut was on a mission. An escape. That was her goal.

"You crazy bitch! Ya took my damn ear!" The guard bellowed at her. She bared her bloodied teeth at him like a cornered animal.

"Here have it back!" She would snarl as she spat the mangled flesh at him. An ear is the least she would take. This was one of the guards that touched her in a way that no viking woman should ever be touched. He didn't deserve that ear.

"Ahhhh!" Another guard screeched at her as he barreled straight towards her. The blonde was on the move again, running back towards the cave they had dragged her away from. She didn't know the details of why they were taken from New Berk or why it was her that had to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Again. She didn't care - all she knew was that she had to get out of there and back to New Berk to tell Hiccup that they were planning an ambush.

However, there was just a small thing she had to retrieve first before she made her escape.

A very important thing, a priority that she refused to leave without.

Ruffnut didn't stop running until the remnants of the campsite came into view. She had a poorly executed plan as usual, but that's how she rolled. There were only a few men left that hadn't forced her into that cave. The majority of those men who participated were either dead or unconscious in that shitty cave. The last of these men wouldn't know what hit them. She continued to run because the priority was sitting between two sleeping guards, completely scared out of his mind.

Nuffink. Hiccup's only son and her nephew.

He had been snatched up first, but Ruffnut had been up past curfew to see it happen. Hiccup likely knew now, but obviously didn't know where his son was. Her disappearance likely hadn't been known until her stupid brother realized it. Hiccup was likely panicked. It was good thing that he had Astrid to keep him grounded, although, she was absolutely in the same mental turmoil as he was. They no longer had dragons so if someone did know where they were taken to, it would take a lot longer for someone to get out here. Ruffnut had been willing to play the waiting game until some of the guards got erotic ideas and had dragged her off to do unrefined things to her. Ugh, men.

The female twin was unable to think of herself right now because her nephew was top priority. Ruffnut stalked her prey from the edge of brush. Her plan was to simply "grab and go". So she did just that. She crawled up the ledge that her nephew was sitting on. Her bloodied hands wrapped around the small boy hastily who yelped in surprise. His alarm was enough to wake the burly men and Ruffnut was running again.

"Nuffink! Finn, hey, hey, it's me! It's fine! It's fine! We gotta go!" The female twin hissed while the terrified boy gave every attempt he had to thrash around in her arms. Finn was absolutely beside himself with terror but immediately whirled around to clasp his arms around the familiar's neck.

"Hey, bitch, get back here!"

"Woooh! Run, run, little bitch! We're gonna get ya!"

"Ya can't run forever!"

"Keep your head down and hang on tight, Finn! Dont let go, no matter what!" Ruffnut hissed out while holding her young nephew tightly to her chest. She chose the roughest path of the forest. Her bare legs were getting shredded by briers and jagged rocks. She would choose the worst possible way to go to keep the men at bay, but as the forest got denser, the less she could hear the stomping of the men behind her. She heard swears and protests but Ruffnut refused stop, she continued to run.

Suddenly the path she was headed dropped - the blonde skidded to stop when the edge of a cliff came out of nowhere, thus, nearly causing her to barrel them both off the edge. The bottoms of her boots allowed her to skid to a stop. Ruffnut breathed heavily, every breath was filtered with adrenaline. Hot crocodile tears tickled her neck as Finn sobbed quietly against her.

"We're fine. We're fine, we're fine." She muttered hastily in attempt to not only assure her nephew but also herself as well. As she tightened her one handed hold on her nephew. Slowly, Ruff pulled herself up and backing away from the edge while looking down at the crashing waves below. They were on an island. Not good.

"We gotta get somewhere safe." Ruffnut replied breathlessly as her eyes hurried to search around for where that place was. Wait…there! Perfect.

The next thing she knew, Ruff and her nephew were on the side of the cliff they had both almost fallen off of. It was extremely hard to climb down a cliff to the ledge below with only one functional hand, the other wrapped tightly around a kid that was attached to her. A kid that was holding her in a vice like grip. The ledge couldn't be directly seen from standing on the cliff but considering they had nearly fell off it, she managed to spot it.

Ruffnut laughed in a twisted attempt to break the thick tension. "I think it's best not to tell your parents about this one." She laughed, but Nuffink didn't and rolled his head back into the crook of Ruffnut's neck. Poor kid.

Ruffnut wasn't good at this whole Aunt thing. Her parents had pressured her in the past about the expectations of a good Viking woman - having a kid was a civil duty. A duty to the village. Motherhood was supposed to come easy to Viking women, despite any other occupations. However, she liked not having one of her own. Motherhood did not come easy to her. Although she adored her niece and nephew, she didn't feel the need to have one of her own anytime soon. Or ever.

At the end of the day, Tuffnut was enough company.

She just wanted to keep the title as the Coolest Aunt the two had.

"Ah! Ahh Sh- AH!" Her foot slipped, rocks crumbling underneath her and her extra weight she carried. Nuffink screamed in her ear causing Ruff to wince and clutched him tighter. She pressed them both against the rocky wall while her chest rose and fell rapidly. Ruff clenched her teeth at the feeling of burning pain and warmth she felt rolling down her shin. Great. Just great.

"We're okay. Shhhh. It's okay. We're fine." Ruff breathed out painfully as she moved her eyes towards their targeted destination. It was so close but she wasn't sure how she'd pull herself and her nephew over the crevice that was mocking her from down below. But she had to do something. She refused to give up now – not while there was still a chance she could get Finn out of here. It was one thing taking care of herself in a situation like this, but taking care of Finn was on a whole new level.

Ruffnut grunted. "Yeah… so…I'm gonna throw ya over there. See that other ledge? You gotta get over there. So I'm gonna throw ya over. Okay? I'll be right behind ya." She would say to the boy in her arms while motioning to the ledge jutted out of the side of the cliff.

"W-what? No-no! A-aunt Ruff, wait!" The boy's arms tightened around her, hiding his face in her entangled hair. "P-please don't, p-please don't throw me. D-don't let me go."

"Listen, I gotta. There's no way I can get us both over there at the same time. Okay? You gotta go first since you're little. I promise I'll be right behind ya." Ruffnut's aching heart broke at the sound of his cries. He honestly thought she was going to let him fall. Ruffnut hissed out a pained wheeze while trying unravel herself from the boy's vice like grip. The boy would likely be traumatized for a good amount of time. He wasn't daring and reckless like his sister. The boy was always content living in her shadow and following closely behind his parents. But in order for them both to be safe, this had to be done.

"So, on the count of three. Go on three. You will be okay, I'm not gonna let you fall." Ruffnut would say while trying to soften her tone but... kids were so hard.

Nuffink shook his head quickly. "No!"

Men pissed Ruffnut off often. Boys were no different. Most of the males in Ruffnut's life pissed her off. There was so many things wrong with the male race. Living and growing up with her brother made her painfully aware of the things, like how stubborn they can be or how smart they pretend to be. Her nephew, being so young, he had a chance to not sink into the natural cycle of things. He had a chance to become smarter than a stupid boy.

"Listen, kid. I-We don't got time for your sass right now. Either you help by jumping willingly or I'm gonna throw ya without warning. Pick your poison. You know, I like things rough so I'm not gonna go easy on ya just cause you're my nephew, got it?." Ruffnut growled at the boy. She hadn't meant to be so harsh but the outcome of this situation was not looking good for either of them at this point. They needed to get somewhere safe and then figure out how to get back home.

Nuffink shivered in her hair. "P-please…P-please don't be m-mad, Aunty Ruff."

Kids were so hard.

"I'm not mad. I promise I'm not mad. I'm just…tired. I get mad when I'm tired." Ruffnut could fight with men all day, but kids were so damned hard.

"Listen kid, I know you're scared. It's…scary up here since you're so little. But once you're safe you won't have to be scared anymore. Just gotta help me out. So we just gotta get ya over here, okay?"

Finn slowly emerged from hiding. He didn't like being scared. He shook his head and spoke quietly. "O-okay."

"Okay. Finn, on the count of three. I'll be right behind ya. Promise. Jump at three. Okay? One."

The boy cautiously and awkwardly moved around in her grasp to face the ledge.

"Two." Ruffnut loosened her hold onto the boy and held herself off the cliff wall a bit. Heights weren't scary. Cliff jumping with her brother had cured her fear of heights long ago, not to mention, falling from numerous dragons. But this time, if one of them were to fall, no one would catch them.

"Three." The boy jumped as Ruff gave him a hard toss.
