Year One- Chapter Two

Like every morning as far as Draco could remember, Dobby came to wake him up. He mumbled a thanks and stretched a bit before getting up. He got dressed and fixed his hair before going downstairs to join his parents for breakfast. They were already at the table, waiting for him.

"Good morning, are you all packed?" His mother inquired as they started eating.

"Yes mum. I'm ready to go as soon as we're done with breakfast, just like you told me." Draco replied softly. He risked a glance at his father who was reading the paper while they ate.

Draco finished eating and was about to excuse himself from the table when his father spoke. "That Potter boy should be starting this year as well. He's been protected by wards ever since he defeated the Dark Lord, no one even knows what he looks like. Keep an eye out for him, Draco."

"Yes, father." Draco dipped his head politely before standing and going back up to his room. He let out a breath and grabbed his suitcase, making sure he had everything. Once he was satisfied, he went back downstairs.

Once they were at the train station, Draco said a polite goodbye to his parents, promising to send an owl telling them what house he got into. He boarded the train and started looking for somewhere to sit. He saw some people he knew, other kids with Death Eater families, but he didn't really want to sit with them. Then, much to his surprise, he found Harry sitting with a redheaded boy. "Nice to see you again Harry, do you mind if I sit with you?"

"Of course not. You don't mind, do you Ron?" Harry asked the redheaded boy.

Ron simply shrugged but shot Draco a dirty look. Draco ignored it and put up his suitcase before sitting next to Harry. "I'm sorry about what happened when we met. My mother isn't exactly fond of you, I didn't want her knowing who you were. You never got to answer my question, what house are you hoping to get into?"

"Don't worry about it," Harry replied with a smile. "I want to get into Gryffindor, like my parents."

"Gryffindor?" Draco scoffed. "Come now Potter, surely you don't want to get stuck with that lot. You could do amazing things in Slytherin."

"Well, we'll see what happens. I'll be happy with whatever house I'm given." After that, Harry turned to Ron, continuing whatever conversation they had been having before Draco came in. Draco didn't mind, he just sat there and listened, occasionally butting in. Eventually, Ron stopped giving him looks and they enjoyed the train ride together.
