We have to stick together book 2
It's been three months and Paul was sitting in the doctors office and he was nervous. He hasn't been feeling well and he had to get some tests done. The doctor came in and broke the news. His cancer was back. It was his worst fear.
The doctor said, Paul we can get rid of it with chemo pills. It's not as bad as last time was. Paul just nodded and he said what if it gets worse? The doctor sighed and said well Paul to be honest if it does then it could lead to death.
Paul just nodded. After a while he left and went home to tell his wife and kids. He said guys you can't tell my brothers I don't need them to worry about me. They promised him they wouldn't.
That night Paul was laying in bed and his wife said, Paul why don't you want to tell them? Paul said it won't matter to them mark and Donnie have busy lives and maybe it's better if I'm not apart of it. I am always their for them but they wouldn't be their for me so why even bother. His wife said if you truly trust that then we won't tell them but I still think you should.
Paul tried to sleep but he couldn't. So the next day Paul was meeting some of his friends for lunch but first they went to the boys club to shoot hoops. While he was playing he got a bit dizzy. After playing they all went into the locker room to change and one of pauls friends said, so what did the doctor say?
Paul told them everything. One of the guys said, well what are you going to tell mark and Donnie? Paul sighed and said, I'm not telling them. They all said, why not? Paul said, listen I will always be their for them I love them both and I'm so proud of everything they do and have done. He continues with, but they wouldn't be their for me and that's okay I'm just a joke to them someone they can always pick on and use as their punching bag.
They won't care if it goes south and then I die. They both have been busy doing their own stuff. They wouldn't care no matter what even if I told them. So I am not going to. One of the guys said what if it does go south Paul? Paul then said well then mark and Donnie can have a party the only thing they will need to do is find someone else to pick on.
One of the men said well lets hope and pray it doesn't go south. Lets go grab lunch. They all nodded. What Paul didn't know is mark and Donnie were in town and their mom told them Paul was at the club shooting hoops so they went to surprise him. They hid in the locker room.
Their plan was to hide in their until Paul came in. as they were going to surprise him they heard them all talking so they waited. They both heard the entire conversation. They both were hurt and worried and upset and mad, so many different feelings.
Mark said, Donnie come on lets go follow them. So they did. Once they got into the restaurant that Paul was in mark said, I will call him. He always answers when I call. So he called Paul and Paul looked at his phone and then hit the ignore. Donnie said hold on let me try. Paul did the same thing to Donnie.
Donnie said, Mark this is bad man. Mark sighed and agreed. People started to notice Donnie and mark. One of pauls friends said what is going on over their? They all turned around including Paul. He saw his brothers taking selfies with fans. He turned around and said oh god! Is best friend said, come on Paul lets get you home. Paul just nodded.
Once the crowed calm down mark said, wait where is Paul? Donnie looked over and saw that he wasn't their. They walked over to the table and Donnie asked one of the guys where Paul is at?
He said you just missed him. He went home he was tired and not feeling…I mean he uh left. Mark thanked them and they both left and went to their brothers house. Paul got home and he went to lay down. Mark and Donnie showed up at their brothers house and they knocked on the door. His wife answered and said hey guys what's up?
Mark said can we talk to Paul? His wife said oh he is up stairs sleeping come on in I will go wake him. Donnie said it's okay we can come back later. With that they said their goodbyes and then went to Wahlburgers to hang out.
About a half hour later they got a phone call from their other brother bob. Bob said, guys listen it's Paul. Donnie said yea we know man his cancer is back. Bob said, no that's not it well yes that's part of it I just found out from mom because she got a call from pauls wife. They called an ambulance and are taking him to the hospital guys he is having trouble breathing.
Mark said we will meet you their. With that they got in the car and drove over as fast as they could to the hospital. Once they got their they saw their brother and mother waiting. Donnie said with panic where is he is he okay? Before anyone could answer the doors flung open and they rushed Paul in on a stretcher. Donnie and mark went pale they couldn't get over that this was happening.
Mark said, Paul we are here buddy. The nurse said please we will take care of him but I need you to wait out here. Donnie said, that's our brother. The nurse said I know and I promise we will let you know what is going on. You can have a seat. With that the nurse ran to the room where Paul was being treated.
As they were waiting alma saw pauls chemo doctor walking in. alma said that's his doctor. Donnie looked and him and mark got up and said please we know you're his doctor please is he going to be okay? The doctor said Paul will be okay we have him in a coma right now just to keep watch over him. It's only for the night then we will wake him up.
Mark said wait a coma no that's not okay wake him up please wake him up. Alma said mark sweetie calm down you and Donnie have to calm down he will be okay. Donnie said we are not leaving him here alone. The doctor said you can sit with him all night if you would like to. His wife said mark, Donnie listen he didn't want us to tell you both.
Donnie said we know we heard him in the locker room talking to his friends that's how we found out. His wife said, stay the night with him we will come back in the morning. Mark and Donnie said their goodbyes and then they both walked into the room where Paul was laying. He looked so pale and cold and tired. Mark and Donnie just broke down in tears.
Mark was saying prayers as was Donnie. They couldn't lose their brother. A nurse came in and checked his vitals and then turned to the brothers and said he can hear you so you can talk to him. Is he okay are his vitals stable Donnie asked. The nurse said he is doing well.
Donnie and mark didn't fall asleep once. After the long night it was now morning. The entire family was in the hall watching them wake Paul up. His wife and kids were able to stay in the room. Donnie said look Paul is up. Everyone sighed with relief.
Pauls kids and wife hugged him. His wife then said, Paul your family is here. She pointed at the window. He looked over and saw his family and he then noticed Donnie and mark. Paul said, oh no this isn't good. Dad it's okay uncle mark and uncle Donnie stayed here with you last night his son stated.
His wife said Paul they are all worried about you. You really need to talk to them. Paul had tears in his eyes and just nodded. So they left the room and everyone came in except for mark and Donnie. They waited to go in.
Now it was their turn. Once they went in they sat down and it was silent. Paul tried to hold back tears and he didn't say a word. The brothers can tell he was upset and nervous. Donnie sighed and said, okay I will go first.. we want you to know something Paul. We both heard you talking to your friends in the locker room.
Paul looked at him and he continued with we went to moms and she told us you were their and we wanted to surprise you. Mark then said so we went into the locker room to hide and you came in the other door and you didn't see us and we were going to come over to you but then we heard you talking with your friends.
Mark then said, Paul please say something. Paul broke down and said I can't I have nothing left in me I'm sorry I just.. the nurse came in and said Paul why don't you get some rest. Donnie and mark sighed and said we will be back later. With that they left and the turned back and looked at their brother in the hospital bed and he was crying so much.
Mark and Donnie had tears running down their faces as well. They left and went back to their mothers. Alma sat down and said, boys listen to me just stay here and let Paul come home in a few days then you can talk to him. Mark said mom we told him we would go back I don't care if we don't say a word we need to be their with Paul.
Their mother smiled and then kissed them both. It was now 3 hours later and mark and Donnie left to go back to the hospital. Once they got their they walked into pauls room but he wasn't their. Donnie went into the hall and screamed where is our brother? Did something happen?
A nurse walked over and said it's okay he is fine he is getting his test done he will be back in a bit. Mark thanked her and they sat down and waited for their brother to return. It was an hour later and Paul was still not back. Mark got up and asked how much longer? The nurse said he is coming up now.
The guy came out of the elevator with Paul in another bed and wheeled him into his room. Paul had trouble getting up so his brothers rushed over to help him. Paul said it's okay I can do it but thank you. Finally Paul was back in his bed and the doctor came in and said, we have good news Paul we can get rid of the cancer with the pills but you have to take a rest for a bit. Paul said, how long? The doctor said, 3 months then you can go back to work.
Mark said that's not a problem. Paul said 3 months I can't do that I'm sorry I rather take my chances. Donnie said what will happen if he doesn't take them? The doctor sighed and then said it could spread and could get worse and lead to death.
Donnie turned to Paul and said, your taking the pills. Paul said it's not up to you. This is my choice. With that the doctor said I have to side with your brothers on this Paul but I will give you time to think It over.
Mark said Paul you have to take them so you get better. Paul then yelled so what then I come back to work for you both don't worry I will find someone to cook. You don't need me anyway. Sorry you won't have a me as a punching bag. Donnie said Paul calm down please lets talk about this. Paul hit the call button and the nurse came in and said okay guys time to leave Paul needs to rest.
Mark and Donnie had to figure something out. But they now decided to listen to their mother and wait until Paul got home.
It's now a week later and Paul is home and he decided to take the pills so he could be around for his wife and kids. His mother was glad and she told mark and Donnie that he agreed to take the pills. Alma then said you need to go easy with him he can't work for 3 months. Donnie said mom we know his health is very important. Mark said this comes first.
The brothers have not talked in now 3 weeks and it's killing them including Paul. Paul feels like no matter what he will lose his brothers they are his best friends and he wished they felt the same way about him but he knew they didn't.
It was now time for them all to get together at a Wahlburgers fundraiser. Paul decided to go since it was local. Once Paul got their he saw the kitchen was backed up so he went in the office and changed even though he wasn't supposed to work he didn't care.
Donnie and mark showed up with the rest of the family and they sat down at a table and mark said it's so odd without Paul here. The waitress said oh he is here he is in the kitchen working. Alma said wait he isn't supposed to be working.
Donnie and mark got up and said we will handle this. They went in the back and but didn't see their brother. Donnie said where is Paul? One of the workers said he stepped out. Mark ran out the back door with Donnie and they saw Paul outside hunched over. Mark said whoa Paul what's wrong talk to us?
Donnie said why are you working your not supposed to be working Paul. Paul said I saw they needed help I'm okay just weak I have to go back in. Donnie stopped him and said no your coming to sit relax and enjoy. Lets go.
So Paul went with them in truth he was to weak to argue with them. So they sat down and Paul hung out he didn't say much but it was okay Donnie and mark were glad he was their. After the day was over Paul went outside and talked to his brother bob.
Bob said how are you feeling something is on your mind Paul. Paul sighed and said well I was talking to mom and she said that once the time comes when she passes I have to promise her I will stay close with Donnie and mark. I told her it is not up to me. Bob when that time comes if I lose mom I'm going to lose mark and Donnie as well. She is the real reason why they went into the business with me. We all know it.
Bob said Paul that's not going to happen man. Donnie and mark were standing behind him listening. Paul said bob I'm going to lose my brothers. No your not Donnie and mark stated. Paul didn't turn around instead he got up and said I have to go. Get home safe. Love you guys. Mark yelled Paul wait man. But he had got into his car and drove away. Bob sighed and said um we have to figure this out. Donnie said we know but how?!
Mark and Donnie kept trying to call Paul but he never answered his phone and that's not like him. Paul woke up and got dressed and left to go to his doctors. Once he was their the doctor came in and said okay Paul we can clear you to go back to work now but you have to work half the hours for three weeks then you can go back to full time.
Paul said that will work out great actually. Paul kept it a secret but he put in his papers at Wahlburgers. His friend asked him if he would work with him in his kitchen in Boston and Paul accepted the job.
Mark and Donnie had to go back to their homes for a bit but now it was 3 weeks later and they both decided to fly back home to Boston to talk to Paul this has been the longest they have gone with out talking to him and they hate it.
Once they both landed at the airport they went to Wahlburgers headquarters. Once they got up their they walked into pauls office. Someone else was in their. Donnie said where is Paul? Did he move offices? The young lady said oh I took over for him. Mark said see that's funny I thought you just said you took over for him?
The young lady said I did he put in his papers a while ago. We thought he told you both. Donnie said well he forgot to tell us that. They both left and went to pauls house. His wife was outside and she saw them pull up.
She said hey guys what are you doing here? Mark said we need to talk to Paul. He isn't here right now he is at work she stated. Donnie asked where is he working because he was not at headquarters? His wife said come inside. So they did and she told them everything. Donnie said wait so he isn't even head chef? His wife said no.
Mark said well that's not right. Come on Donnie we have to go and get our brother back. So they left and went to find Paul. Once they got to the restaurant they were seated. The waiter came over and asked what they wanted to drink.
After she took their orders she went into the kitchen and said mark and Donnie walhberg are here. Paul looked up and said, I'm sorry what did you say? She said your brothers are here do you want to go see them?
Paul said no it's okay thank you though. The server said no problem and went back to work. As Donnie was ordering he said I will have a salad and I would like to see my brother please. The waitress nodded and walked away. She went in the back and told Paul and he said it's okay they can wait.
Donnie and mark ate their food and still no sign of Paul. Donnie said man this is crazy lets go in the kitchen. Mark agreed. So they paid and got up and walked in the back. Paul was cleaning up and he turned around and his brothers were right in front of him. Paul said you can't be back here. Mark stated Paul come on man this is crazy lets go talk. Paul said I have to work.
Donnie stopped him and looked at him and said , Paul please man please we haven't talked and it's killing us please Paul. Paul then sighed and said okay just give me a half hour okay. They both smiled and nodded.
Paul finished his shift and then met his brothers outside. Paul said what do you need from me? Mark said what do you mean we just want to talk. Paul said okay lets talk. Donnie stated Paul we love you and you won't ever lose us man and we have to stick together and when you didn't tell us about your health it killed us man then to see you in the coma. Paul man please we just want everything go back to normal man.
Paul said well we can't I have nothing left in me guys. Back to normal for you is telling me what to do and picking on me and I have to knuckle down and take it. Guys I love you and I'm so proud of you both you don't need me in your lives. I tried to change to fit in but I don't belong in your world. I'm sorry. I will always be your brother and I love you both very much.
Mark said Paul listen to me okay listen to both of us. The three of us were more then brothers we are a team and best friends. This time that has gone by with out us talking was the worst and I never want that to happen ever again. We hate that you feel this way and think that we wouldn't be their for you. I know we joke on you a lot and we are sorry for that but you need to know we will always be their for you Paul. We have to stick together.
Paul sighed and said so what then you want me to come back to the restaurant? Donnie said well yes but we want our brother back. Paul said okay fine I will come back. Donnie and mark smiled then mark said okay now keep your calendar open cause we want to spend the day with you this weekend.
Paul just nodded and then hugged them and they all left. Once Paul got home he talked it over with his wife and she was so happy he was going back. It's where he belongs. Paul was nervous to go back but he knew he just has to take it slow due to his health but he can do it.
It was now Friday and Paul got a call he had to fly down south to check out one of the new locations. He was going to be gone until Sunday night. It was now Saturday and Donnie and mark went to their mothers house to say hi before picking Paul up.
Alama said what are you both doing in town? Donnie said we are spending the day with Paul. Alma looked at them both and said but he isn't here he got a call he left Thursday to go down south to see a location.
She then said he will be back late tomorrow night. Donnie then said he didn't tell us. Mark said wow he sent us an email. We just didn't read it. Okay well we can stay and hang on Monday.
It was now Sunday night and Paul landed and he got in his car and drove home. He was glad to be home he was so tired. Once he walked into his house his wife was in the kitchen and she said don't make to much noise. Paul said what why not?
She pointed to the living room and he saw his brothers sleeping on the couch. Paul said what are they doing here? They waited for you they are staying so you can hang tomorrow his wife said. Paul just sighed.
Paul went over and covered them both with the blankets and shut the tv off. His wife went up to get ready for bed. As he turned the tv off Donnie said, hey I was watching that. Donnie said yea sure you were. Donnie said mark wake up man Paul is home. Mark woke up and said hey man.
Paul said guys go back to sleep I will see you in the morning. Donnie said so you don't want to talk. Paul said no I'm tired guys good night. Mark and Donnie didn't argue they fell right back to sleep.
All three brothers slept amazing. It's was about six in the morning and Paul got up and got ready for work. Once he got down into the kitchen he saw Donnie up trying to make food. Paul said Donnie what are you doing? Donnie said making us food. Mark walked in and said Donnie man this is why Paul is the chef.
The three of them laughed and Paul said well I have to go to work but I will make you both something before I leave. Mark said wait you have to eat as well. Paul said I will eat later on. With that Paul made them food then left for the day.
Paul was so busy at work that he never was able to take a break to eat and it made him dizzy an weak. Alama was coming to visit and she saw Paul and he didn't look good. Alama said Paul what's wrong? Paul said I haven't been able to eat yet I will though.
Just then Paul fell to the ground. They had to call an ambulance for safety. Mark and Donnie were driving and they pulled over so the ambulance could pass by and Donnie said why is that ambulance going into Wahlburgers parking lot.?
Mark and Donnie parked and ran over mark said mom what's going on? Where is Paul? Alama told them what had happened and Donnie said well where is he? He is inside still she stated. So they went in and mark said you okay buddy? Paul nodded. They could tell he wasn't feeling well.
Donnie said why don't we take you home Paul. Paul said it's okay I'm feeling better. I ate so I'm okay now. Mark said Paul come on lets go relax. Alama said Paul go with your brothers. Paul said I can't I have work to do. Donnie said you need to take it slow. Paul caved in and he let his brothers take him home.
Once they got to his house Paul got out of the car and thanked them and then went to unlock the door. His wife and kids were still out. Donnie and mark followed him in and said we will hang with you so your not alone.
Paul went in and sat on the couch. He was very tired and weak. Mark said Paul lay down man. Paul just nodded his head and soon enough he fell asleep. About an hour later Paul woke up and he saw his brothers watching tv. Donnie said you feeling better Paul? Paul nodded and said yea I am. I guess I needed sleep. Mark stated Paul you have to take it slow man you know that.
We can do some stuff as well Donnie stated. Paul said I know but you both are busy enough. Shouldn't you guys be heading back home anyway? I am fine guys trust me. Mark sighed and said we don't want to leave you Paul . Paul said guys go home.
So they nodded and then said their good byes. Donnie said if you need us you better call us Paul. He said I will I promise. So they left and packed and went to the airport. While they were in the car mark said how come I don't think Paul will call us? Donnie then said I don't think he will as well. We just have to keep an eye on him that's all.
They knew that their mother and other siblings would watch over Paul as well. They just wanted him to take it slow. Even though some days Paul didn't feel well he still made it through the day. He didn't cut his hours back he had too much work to get done.
Bob was in one day and he saw Paul working so he went back to check on him. Bob said how are you feeling Paul? Paul said I have my good days and my bad days. Bob said well have you taken a day off since you have been back? Paul said no but it's okay and don't tell Donnie and mark. I haven't heard from them since they left.
Bob said Paul you need to take a day off every once in a while. Paul said it's okay I can handle it. Bob said okay if you say so. He then left and went to visit his mom. Alama said hey bob what's going on? Bob said nothing mom I just saw Paul did you know he hasn't taken a day off since he has been back?
Alama said really that's not good. I thought he cut his hours back? Bob said he was supposed to but you know Paul. Alama got up and got the phone. I'm calling mark and Donnie she stated. Bob said no mom I told him I wouldn't tell them. She said well I didn't promise you did.
So she called mark and Donnie and told them about Paul. Donnie said well we haven't heard from him. Mark said well I know I'm flying out this weekend for the week so I can go see him. Donnie said I can stop over as well I have a break from filming blue bloods.
Alama then said should I tell Paul you both are coming? They both said no it's okay. So the week went on and Donnie and mark flew in to see their brother. Once they both arrived they went right to the restaurant to see Paul.
Once they got their they couldn't find their brother. They asked where he was and one of the employees said that he left early. He had a doctors appointment to go to. They thanked the girl and left and went to their mothers. Donnie said Paul is at the doctors. Alama said he is coming over later if you boys want to stay. So that's what they decided to do.
Later on Paul came over and once he got in he saw his brothers hanging out. Mark said how did the doctors go Paul? Paul said it was okay. How did you know keeping tabs on me? Donnie said no we went to see you at the restaurant and they told us you left for the doctors. So how did it go?
Paul sighed and said it was okay my cancer is going away and I'm feeling better. So I will get their. What are you both doing here anyway? Mark said we came to visit. Didn't you miss us? Paul laughed and nodded.
Mark said so what do you want to do for the rest of the day? Paul sighed and said I have yard work to do. Donnie laughed and said that can wait Paul come and hang with us. Paul said maybe some other time.
With that Paul left and went home to do his yard work. Donnie said I don't get it we are way more fun then yard work. Mark laughed and Alma said why don't you boys go over and keep him company.
They nodded and left to go to pauls house. Paul was out back and Donnie and Mark walked over and said you need help? Paul sighed and said no it's okay why are you here? Mark said we came to help. Paul laughed and said it's okay thank you though.
About 30 seconds later Donnie jumped into the pile of leaves and started to play. Paul actually laughed. Mark said wait Donnie look Paul is laughing and smiling. So instead of doing yard work they all goofed around and enjoyed spending time with one another.
It was a great day. Later on that night Paul drove his brothers to the airport because they both had a flight to get on. They were flying together like they normally do. The three of them walked into the airport and they said their goodbyes.
Donnie said Paul when do you go back to the doctors? Paul said couple of weeks. Mark said keep us posted. Paul nodded. Go ahead you have a flight to catch Paul said. So Donnie and mark made their way on the plane and they looked out the window and saw Paul still standing their.
Mark said he will be okay right? Donnie said I hope so. Paul couldn't tell they were watching him. He was tearing up a bit. Paul felt so good hanging with his brothers he hated seeing them go but they have their lives and he knows he doesn't fit into it. He knew they had to stop coming to check on him. They are to busy.
Paul knew he over did it today. He wasn't feeling so well. He was driving home and he was a bit dizzy. He ended up getting so dizzy that he crashed into a pole. Another car stopped and helped him and they called an ambulance.
Alma got the phone call from his wife and she said I'm on my way. She called bob to pick her up. Bob came over and then drove to the hospital. Bob said we have to call Donnie and mark. Paul was laying on the stretcher and he was so weak and cold.
The flight landed in Chicago to drop Donnie off and the phone rang. Mark said hi mom. Donnie said hi mom we just landed I'm getting off now I love you. He walked off the flight and alma told mark what happened.
Mark said hold on mom. He ran after Donnie. Mark screamed Donnie come we have to go. Donnie said oh no what's wrong is it mom? Is she okay? Mark said she is fine. Mark told him what happened. The flight took off and they were on their way back.
Once they landed they rushed to the hospital. Alma said boys over here. They were out of breath. Donnie said mom please where is Paul? He is okay he just over did it today. Wait so it's our fault…mark said. We were with him all day hanging out. The doctor came over and said it wasn't your fault.
The cancer is still their and sometimes it takes over and that's what happened. Paul will be okay. His arm will be in a brace for a few days and then he will be okay. The air bag didn't break anything it just bruised the bone. He will be out in a few min.
They thanked the doctor. Paul walked out and he saw everyone standing their. Donnie said lets get you home Paul. Paul said who called you both? Bob said I did. Paul felt horrible and mark said no Paul I know that face don't go their. We are glad bob called us.
So everyone went over to pauls house and hung out for a bit. Paul was so sore and tired. Donnie said we can stay with you tomorrow Paul. Paul sighed and said guys I will be okay thank you for coming but you guys don't have to stay.
Paul got up and said I'm going to bed have a good night. He went up stairs got in bed and he fell right to sleep. The next day came and Paul was feeling it more today. He took a shower and then got dressed. He wanted to go to work but he couldn't drive so he decided to walk.
It was about 3 miles away but he enjoyed it. Mark and Donnie were driving over to the restaurant to take over since Paul couldn't work. As they were driving they saw Paul walking. Mark said why is he walking he should be home. They pulled over and Donnie got out of the car and said whoa Paul what are you doing man?
Paul stated I'm going to work. Donnie said no your not lets get you home. Paul sighed and said Donnie it's okay I can work. You guys need to go home you have too much to do. Donnie said nice try but we aren't leaving. Lets go get in the car Paul.
So Paul got in the car and they drove him home. Mark said lets watch a movie. So they put a movie in and hung out. Mark saw that is was hard for Paul to stay up so he said Paul take a nap man it's okay. We will be here when you wake up. Paul just nodded.
He had slept for about 3 hours. His body needed it. Once he woke up he saw Donnie and mark outside talking. He went by the window and over heard them talking. Mark said well what do we do? Donnie said I don't know man… we can have bob and everyone watch over him. Mark said I just hate to leave him though. Donnie said yea me to.
Paul felt bad he knew they couldn't stay and he didn't want to be the reason they stayed. He didn't want to be any more of a problem for them. So Paul went up to his room and watched some tv.
Mark and Donnie went inside and didn't see Paul so they checked his room and said how are you feeling buddy? Paul said I'm a lot better. He didn't like lying but he knew he had to that way they could go back to their lives and he wasn't getting in the way.
Donnie said are you sure Paul? You still look pale. Paul said I feel really good actually. Thank you guys for hanging with me. Mark said Paul of course. When is your flight Paul asked? Mark said we don't know yet. We didn't book it.
Paul sighed and said guys I am fine I will be okay you guys don't have to stay. Donnie said well okay Paul but we will call and you better answer. Paul said I will. They said their good byes and left.
Donnie got in the car and called Paul. Paul answered and said really Donnie? He was laughing and Donnie said just checking love you. So mark and Donnie went back to their homes and caught up on work. It was about 3 days later and Paul went back to work. He still wasn't feeling well but he had to get back to normal.
When he told his brothers his cancer was going away he lied to them he didn't want to be a bother to them anymore. He knew if he was going to tell them his cancer is still their they would worry. He didn't want to mess their lives up.
While he was working he got very dizzy so he went outside to get some air. He stepped outside and drank some water he also sat down for a bit. Bob drove up and parked his car and he noticed Paul sitting on the ground. Bob said Paul you okay man?
Paul lifted his head and said oh yea sorry just need some air. He got up and went to go back inside but bob stopped him. Bob said Paul what's going on man come on tell me. So Paul told him that he was dizzy and his cancer was still their.
Bob said is it because of the chemo? Paul didn't answer and bob said Paul tell me? Paul said no it's not the chemo I stopped chemo. Bob said wait what? Do mark and Donnie know? Why Paul? Paul said no they don't know and I just can't take it anymore it makes me weak and I can't be weak and work. I have too much to get done and I can't let mark and Donnie down again.
Bob said what do you mean again Paul? Paul sighed and said I'm their older brother and all they do is take care of me it's supposed to be the other way around bob I don't know how much more I have left in me to be honest and I owe them everything.
Bob said Paul they love you and look up to you. Paul laughed and said I wish that were true bob I really do. Listen I have to get back I love you I will see you later on. Bob sighed and went back to his car and drove home.
Once he got home he called Donnie. Hey bob Donnie said. Bob said hey can we talk? Donnie said bob what's wrong? Lets zoom. Bob said okay tell mark as well please. So they hung up and the three of them logged on.
Mark said bob you don't look good man what's up? Bob told them about the convocation he had with Paul. Donnie said wait hold up Paul told us he was fine health wise. Bob said well he lied. He was outside when I pulled up dizzy and scrunched on the ground. Mark sighed and said guys we can't lose him. How bad is it can we get in touch with the doctor? I mean last time he signed the DNR we can't have that happen again.
They have to come up with a plan. Donnie said something isn't right their has to be more to it. Mark said you don't think that George is back do you? Donnie sighed and said I am not sure but Paul was talking like this when he was around and if he back we have a huge problem.
Mark said well how do we go about this? Bob said listen I can watch over him while you both are home I don't mind the only thing is there is one major problem that I didn't tell you. Donnie said bob tell us man. Bob took a deep breath and then said okay well the thing is that he lied to you about his cancer.
Mark said you told us that we know he still has it but he will be okay he is doing chemo. Bob looked away and then said well that's the thing guys…. He stopped it. It was his call. He still had a few more to go but he said it made him too weak and he didn't want to let you guys down. He went into how he is the older brother and he let you both down his entire life. Guys I'm worried that if he doesn't go back to chemo he is going to get weak.
Mark and Donnie were almost in tears. Donnie said wait if he stops chemo then can he die? Bob said well I looked it up and it said online that if you stop too soon the person may only have 3-6 months to live.
Donnie got up and bob said Donnie where you going man? To pack I will see you soon Donnie stated. Mark said I'm on my way and bob please go watch Paul please. They hung up and packed and made the next flight. Marks flight flew to pick Donnie on the way up so they could fly home together.
Donnie got on the flight and saw mark and then gave him a hug and he broke down as did mark. Mark said man we can't lose him Donnie. Donnie said we won't man we are going to save him. Soon they were back in the air flying to Boston.
Once they landed bob was their to pick them up. Donnie said wait where is Paul? Bob said he is at his house resting. But I did look into George he is out guys. Mark said we have to go NOW! They rushed to the car and went to pauls home.
Once they got their they rushed out and knocked on the door. No one answered the door. So bob said wait I have a key. So they went in and checked the house and Paul wasn't their. They went back outside and said were could he be?
Paul was resting and their was a knock at the door and it was George. Paul said what the hell are you doing here? George said lets go now. He had a gun. Paul just did what he was told. Mark looked up and saw the cameras. He pointed and said come on lets look at them.
They saw the entire thing go down with George and Paul. The could see the plate number so they called the cops right away.
The cops said we will find them. Paul and George were in an old building and George was beating on Paul and he couldn't take much more he was so weak. Paul said if your going to kill me just do it I only have 6 months left to live anyway.
George said so you did as I said you stopped treatment. You know Paul mark and Donnie won't even know your gone. Your supposed to be the older brother instead you cause them problems.
As this was going on mark and Donnie left bob at the station and bob was on the phone telling them which road to take to get to Paul due to street cameras. They found the old building and got out and went in. they heard everything George and Paul said. They knew they had to wait for the cops but they didn't want to.
Paul said you don't think I don't know this. I owe them everything. I tired to change to fit in and I just wanted them to love me just like I love them. I'm so proud of them. They are amazing and I am…I'm nothing.
George said well then we should just end it now or you can live out the rest of the time you have and suffer. Paul said wait when I'm gone you have to promise you will stay away from them. George said please Paul they will be thanking me.
Then with that George took the gun and knocked Paul out. Just then the cops came in. they took him in and he was going right to lockup. He wasn't getting out this time. Mark and Donnie ran over to Paul but he was out cold. He had blood all over him.
The EMS came and put their brother on the stretcher. They rushed him to the hospital. Mark and Donnie rode with him and bob showed up with a cop and followed in marks car. Paul woke up in the ambulance and saw mark and Donnie and started to panic.
He took the mask off and said please it's not safe you can't be here I'm sorry. He was crying a bit and then faded out again. They soon arrived at the hospital. Mark and Donnie held his hand the entire time.
Paul was put right in a room and he started to code. They said WE NEED A CRASH CART! Donnie and mark had to wait in the hall with bob and they all were praying. They were able to bring him back. His doctor came in and said he needs to go back in for chemo. Donnie said we will make sure he follows through we can't lose him.
The doctor said you can go in and see him. He will be weak. They thanks the doctor and went in. bob sat down and said how are you feeling Paul? Paul said I have been better. Paul saw mark and Donnie and said you guys can't be here.. I'm sorry I really am for everything…I lied about my cancer and you have every right to not talk to me I… in 3 to 6 months I will be gone and out of your way for good.
Mark said with tears running down his face Paul please listen to me… mark grabbed his brothers hand and said we are here for you we heard what George said to you… you will finish chemo and we will fight this together man your not going anywhere. We love you and we have to stick together no matter what.
Paul said your better off with out me. Donnie said no Paul that's far from true man.
