A/N I don't own Naruto but I do own these characters. While I am satisfied with Refinding, I decided to make an alternate one. Only this one takes place in 1995 instead of 2012. And instead of Middle school, Naruko's son will be in the 4th grade. Also, her late husband is an OC.
Sakuro Haruno who once was one of the best basketball players is currently an elementary gym teacher. In the state of Kentucky, he used to be the best ball major part in the state. He had grant offers from Programs like Kentucky, Duke, and Kansas. But unfortunately, In his senior year, he was in a crash that put an end to his career. While he recovered, he lost his ball skills and retired from basketball to become a Gym teacher. He's now in his last period as he's now checking his last student.
"All right, Class. We gonna have a race from midcourt to the left side of the basketball court then to the right. And whoever reaches there wins." He announced. "All right, the first student is Asami Uzumaki." A young girl with dark hair and black eyes wearing a plain white t-shirt and blue shirt came in front of him. Sakuro smiled. "And... Sora Teshima. You're up." The boy named Sora joins her. He is a young brown-haired boy with sharp blue eyes and whiskers covering his face. He turns to the girl and says...
"Good luck, cousin." He said while shaking Asami's hand. She smiled.
"You, too." She replied. Both of them crouched down as Sakuro looked at his watch.
"On your mark, get set... go." He started as the two cousins jumped ahead. The race was as close as it can get but Sora jumped ahead and touched the line before she did. Sakuro gave a smile.
"And the winner..." He declared as he held up his arm while holding his wrist. "Sora Teshima." The crowd, even Asami cheered. After the race, the kids went back to the locker rooms so they can dress out of their gym clothes. Once they get dressed to their regular clothes, the kids run out of the gym except for Sora. Sakuro notices it and walks over to him.
"Hey, Sora. Why aren't you joining your friends?" He asked.
"Well... my mom is taking off early and she is picking me up early." He answered.
"I see..." Sakuro said. "And what does your mom do?"
"She's the head sports commentator for our local sports show." He asked her. Sakuro did a double take.
"Wait.. your mom is Naruko Teshima?" He questioned. Sora nodded.
"Yeah, you watch her?" Sakuro shook his head.
"No, but I read her newspaper articles before she left her hometown 5 years ago before she went on TV." Sora nodded his head as he waits in the gym while his teacher gathers his things. After he locked his office, Sakuro looks to see Sora still waiting.
"Hey, Sora. You wanna walk with me to wait with your mom?" He asked. "I would like to meet your mother since I met every parent except for yours." Sora shrugged.
"Sure." He answered. The young teacher and his student walks to the parking lot and wait for Sora's mother. It wasn't until Sora spotted a blue sports car with white stripes. He pulled Sakuro's shoulder.
"That's her car." He said. Sakuro smiled and nodded. Sakuro noticed a blue Ford parked on the carport, and his eyes widened when a young woman with blond hair stepped out of the car. She was wearing her hair in a ponytail. She wore a blue shirt and blue skirt with blue heels. Although her hair color resembles Sora's, her eyes are blue. Sakura has never seen anyone as beautiful as her. Next, she opens a car door and pulls out a little girl with brown hair but the woman's eyes. Taking her baby along, the woman entered the building. She grinned and kissed Sora on the cheek.
"Hey, Baby." The woman greeted. "How was your day?" Sora shrugged.
"It was okay. Uh, Mom... I'd like to introduce you to my gym teacher, Mr. Haruno."
"Nice to meet you. I'm Sora's mother, Naruko."
Naruko offered her hand, but Sakuro just stared at the woman for a minute before he regained his senses and shook her hand.
"Hello, I'm Sakuro Haruno. I'm his gym teacher." He greeted. "And who's this adorable young lady?" Naruko looked at the girl he asked about and smiled.
"This is my daughter Mei. Mei, say hi to Sora's gym teacher." Though the child looks to be about 10 months old, she smiled and pointed her finger at the young man making him chuckle and shake her finger making the baby giggle.
"She's adorable." He said. Naruko smiled. "How old is she?"
"22 months," Naruko said. "She's been the most uplifting thing that happened to us this past year." She said. "Well... we better get going, Sora. We're having chicken and corn for dinner tonight."
"Yum!" He said as he followed his mother to her car. Sakuro waved goodbye and sighed while looking at the woman carrying the baby. He is totally smitten with her.
Naruko sighed as she drove her son and daughter home. After completing her first segment for the news station, she has until 10:00 for her next segment, so she can spend time with her kids before she leaves for her night shift.
"Sora..." she said as she turned into her driveway. "Tonight I'm having my night newscast so Grandma and Grandpa are coming over to watch you and Mei, okay?"
"Okay..." Sora said as his mother parked into their driveway. While Sora did his homework, she prepared their dinner. Naruko sighed and gazed out the window. For her, it has been a tough year...
June 9th 1994
"All right, another successful show!" Naruko cheered. She just finished packing for her vacation. She is very excited to have her first vacation to Disney world with her husband Jack, son Sora and daughter Mei. She later heard a cry coming from the baby monitor. She sighed then walks to her daughter's room. She looks down to see her crying.
"Shh..." She whispered. "It's okay... Mommy's got you." She picked her up and tried to calm her down. She checked the clock, wondering what time it is. It was 4:30. She was starting to worry.
"Where is your daddy?" Naruko asked. She heard her phone rang. Naruko picked it up.
"Hello?"
"Is this Naruko Theshima?" A voice asked her.
"Y-yes."
"This is the Methodist Hospital... your husband was in a car wreck." Naruko's heart dropped.
"Is he okay?"
"I don't know but You must come to the hospital now!"
"Okay, I'll be right there." She then calls her mother-in-law Yuki and asked her to watch Sora and Mei while she was in the Hospital. She waited in the waiting room for any news about her husband. Suddenly her friends Temari and Satuski came by and gave her a hug.
"Thanks for coming, girls." She said while tears came flowing. Satsuki rubbed her back.
"Hey, no problem, Naruko. You're like a sister to us." Suddenly a doctor came out the door. He takes off his mask and turns to the young woman.
"Are you Naruko Theshima?" He asked.
"Uh-huh." She confirmed. "Is my husband all right?" The doctor shook his head. Naruko covered her mouth.
"I'm sorry Mrs Theshima." He said sadly. Naruko's felt her heart sank. The love of her life is gone. Satsuki joined her and hugged in comfort with tears in her eyes.
A week after the funeral, they buried him in the Konoha Cemetary. Naruko remembers when she held his hand while he was in his casket.
"It's not fair. He was a good man. He didn't deserve what happened to him." Naruko said in her thoughts. She hears her baby crying. She wiped her tears and walk to her Mei's bedroom. She smiled at the little girl.
"Hey, baby. You tired?" The baby gurgled making Naruko smile and kiss her cheek.
And that's the first chapter of Love regained. Don't worry, I'm still keeping Refinding. I just wanna rewrite it because while I'm satisfied with it, I want to write more detail on it.
