Story Start!
Griselda watched her son.
That was all she could do, was watch him through the years as he aged, and she had to stay a distance away from him emotionally. She was not allowed to tell him what their relationship was, and he was not given her last name either. While she helped to raise him, it was not as his mother, it was as a sister. He was raised in the church, but he was raised away from other children, nor was he allowed to play with them or study with them.
The Throne of Heaven.
She watched as he slept peacefully, the strain of being connected to the system that ran Heaven causing him to grow tired. Once his body could handle the strain, Michael had surrendered his connection to the throne and passed it onto the boy. The boy, now only 15, had been announced the the top brass of the Church that he was their new leader behind the scenes. He was the one that was given ultimate authority.
For the most part, things didn't change.
Griselda on the other hand felt longing in her heart, a longing to come out and tell him the truth about their relationship. To embrace him as his mother, something that she had never once gotten to do in his life. Not to mention he had always been under strict guard by at least 1 Exorcist, and he was always under the watchful eyes of one of the Seraphs. Normally it was Gabriel who would watch him, due to her being the one aspect that he needed protection from the most.
He was a beautiful teen.
Gabriel was innocent, but she was the chief angel of chastity, so she was the one who tried to temper his biological teenage boy needs. She and him bore very similar looks, with more heart shaped faces, and her curly golden hair complimenting his wild golden hair the most. They had rounded angular eyes of similar recessive colors, and both of them had the same peach skin color that just gave off the feeling of being kissed by the sun.
"Mmmmmm..." Naruto's blue eyes opened, and he stared at Griselda.
"... Good morning Father." Griselda spoke respectfully to Naruto. Naruto was neither a Priest or an Exorcist, but it was the only title that could be respectfully applied to him. He was now the leader of the sect. "How are you feeling, are you hungry?" Griselda asked as she gestured to the bread that had been left for him by his bed.
Naruto blinked and rubbed his eyes, something she knew that he did before he even started to become mentally active after waking up. It was hard for her not to pick up on all of the little things he did.
"So... what do I do now Sister?" Naruto asked her with confusion. In the back of his mind, he could hear the prayers of his people all around the world. He was connected to the system that ran all miracles, he could hear them all. It was like an uncountable number of voices were asking him for help, praising him, or just trying to have a conversation with him. "... I can hear them all..." Naruto grabbed the side of his head.
Griselda didn't get to answer.
"Answer those you see fit to answer." Gabriel answered with a smile on her face. Griselda lowered her head, speaking nothing as one of the highest ranked angels appeared before her. When Naruto tried to sit up, Gabriel sat on the bed and pushed her hand against his chest, keeping him down. "... just relax. Do what you feel is right, and we will support you." Gabriel promised sincerely.
His word was their action.
"... What I feel is right?"
"Anything you command, we will do." Gabriel confirmed without hesitation.
Be good, trust your heart.
Naruto felt that voice at the back of his mind, and it didn't sound like a human voice praying to him. He smiled to himself as he registered the voice, and just like that the voice faded into the back of his mind. He had no real plans or desires though to be fulfilled. He didn't have a goal in mind as a leader, but for some reason the position felt slightly wrong to him. Having a position and not knowing what he wanted to do with the position just felt like it was wrong to him.
"I'll start by helping people, can you bring me people to heal?"
"The Saint Asia already uses her Twilight Healing to heal those who visit the church, you don't need to concern yourself with enacting miracles. If that is what you wish though, it will be done." Gabriel informed him that he didn't need to do it, but that they would help him with his desire if that was what he wanted. Griselda clenched her hand into a fist when she wanted to give the news that Gabriel either did not know, or had not mentioned.
That Asia Argento, the healing Saint, had been banished for healing a Devil that had snuck into the territory and wounded their exorcists. She wanted to open her mouth, but did not want to appear rude, or actually be rude by interrupting the conversation of an angel and her leader.
"I would like to meet her, and thank her then." Naruto stated with a wide smile.
"It will be done then, she will be brought here, or we can take you to visit her." Gabriel had a sparkling pure smile as she spoke. That was a wonderful first command, to show thanks to somebody who had been doing great work. Gabriel noticed Griselda holding her tongue, and said nothing to the woman who appeared to want to say something. "May Griselda speak?" Gabriel asked Naruto instead.
"She can always speak, go ahead and speak your mind Sister." Naruto offered Griselda the chance.
"Asia Argento has been declared a Witch for the crime of healing a Devil, and has been banished from these holy grounds." Griselda spoke in a relaxed tone.
"I see... poor thing." Gabriel shed a tear for Asia.
"She confessed to her sins, and accepted the punishment with grace. She confessed that she saw an injured devil and healed him... she simply made the wrong choice." Griselda did not feel pity for the girl. Gabriel stood up when Naruto moved to get off of the bed, and he looked down at himself and saw he was wearing a white shirt and his favorite orange shorts. "Father, it might be too late to meet her." Griselda spoke as Naruto smiled.
His smile was laid back.
"I still want to thank her, I mean, it sucks that she healed a Devil... but I want to hear her side of the story ya know?" Naruto reasoned with a confused smile, not entirely sure what he should do. He had kind of heard of her before, but since he had not ever been allowed contact with women who were not on an approved list before, he had not been given the chance to meet up with her. "Who knows, it just be a misunderstanding."
"If she confessed, then... I guess if you want to see her, then her sins do not matter." Gabriel smiled and nodded her head. She did not question Naruto, if he wanted to see her regardless of her sins, then she was in no place to argue, nor did she have a desire to argue. "May I give some advice though?" Gabriel could not argue, but she could give him some advice on what she believed.
He was still a 16 year old boy who needed experience, and a massive weight had been placed on his shoulders.
"Nope, lets go and hear her side of the story, I don't want to have my mind changed. She deserves to be thanked for all of the hard work she's put into helping others. If you know where she is, then that is great... whoops." Naruto had touched the knob on the door, and the metal turned to gold. He looked at the goblet of water besides his bed, and he tapped it. The cup turned to gold, and the water in it turned to wine. "... How do I... not do that?" Naruto asked as he looked at Gabriel with a frightened expression.
He did not want to turn into a drunk, and he couldn't exactly live with turning every metal that he touched into precious metal.
"I will see to you getting some gloves... but why go to so much effort for Asia?" Griselda asked in confusion. "She's a witch."
"She's a healer. Most of the miracles performed by Jesus were healing, and helping others. So I want to thank her for doing the Lord's work... and maybe forgive her after I hear what she has to say." Naruto didn't know what he wanted to do with Asia after he were to hear what she had to say, but he couldn't do anything until he did know.
"She healed a Devil-"
"I want to hear her reason for doing it... am I allowed to forgive her?" Naruto asked Gabriel, since he still wasn't completely sure of what he was allowed to do.
"If you forgive her, then she is forgiven."
"Simple as that?"
"It is as simple as that."
"It's not that simple... she healed a devil, and that devil killed an exorcist after being healed. She admitted to her crimes." Griselda had to speak up, or rather, she wanted Naruto to see reason. She wanted him to understand. "The crimes the devil enacted fall onto her head as well, don't you agree?" Griselda asked Naruto.
Naruto nodded.
"I do agree, but I still want to hear what she has to say, and ask her if she wants to be forgiven or atone. Everyone is a sinner, and everyone can be forgiven if they truly want to atone." Naruto stated with a grin.
A pure hearted smile.
Not paying attention, Naruto opened the door and smacked himself in the forehead with the corner of the door AND hit his pinky toe with the door as well. His pure hearted smile faded from his face in an instant.
He got onto the ground.
He curled up into a ball.
That was embarassing.
