Thankfully, they reached the hotel unscathed and free from another bout of vomiting.
Once they arrived, Kara found herself unable to move, simply standing at the gates of the building in awe as she stared gawking at the magnificence of it all. She didn't even want to think about how much this place was each night. But that wasn't on her mind at all in that moment. All she could process was the completely breathtaking view.
"Um… You wanna go inside?" Lena asked teasingly, nudging Kara forward towards the lobby door.
Without saying a word, the blonde followed her partner in a trance all the way to the front desk where they checked in with the manager.
Up in their room - which Kara quickly realized was their most elite suite - Lena tossed her suitcase on the floor and flopped dramatically onto the bed with a heavy, exaggerated sigh.
"Home sweet home," the brunette laughed. "I missed it here, honestly. It's so good to be back."
"Do you, uh… come here a lot?" Kara asked dumbly, looking over at her girlfriend as she remained standing with her hand on the handle of her suitcase.
"Kara," Lena laughed. "Come lay down."
Still dazed, Kara pried her fingers from around the handle and slowly stepped closer to the bed. Eventually, urged by a beckoning gesture from Lena, the blonde was able to climb into the bed and rest her head on the other girl's chest.
"This is amazing," she said, after a long moment of content silence.
"You haven't even seen the full beach yet," Lena pointed out. "If you think you like the hotel, wait 'til you see the rest of the city! It's really something special. Just like you."
When Lena poked her nose with her index finger, Kara giggled and hugged her tightly.
"Love you."
"Love you too, baby," the brunette echoed, kissing the girl's forehead. "Now… Let's go see the sights!"
~!~!~
"So, where are we going first?" Kara asked, upon leaving the hotel and getting back in the limo.
"My yacht," Lena said passively, slipping into the limo.
She preferred not to drive in foreign countries and instead let her chauffeurs navigate the city for her.
When Kara simply stood staring, without getting into the car, Lena laughed and said, "Get in, loser. We're going to Vieux Port."
"We're goin wh—"
"Get in," Lena laughed, tugging the girl inside and hugging her tightly as soon as Kara was buckled (which required some assistance from her girlfriend).
All the way to the Old Port docks, Kara stared out the window at her surroundings, taking in the breathtaking beauty of the Mediterranean houses and lively cafés.
When the limo stopped in front of a large market filed with fresh fruits, vegetables, and flowers, the blonde looked over at Lena with confusion.
"I thought we were—"
"Welcome to Place aux Herbes."
"To where?"
Again, Lena laughed.
"Market square, you goober. Pick some snacks to bring. You're not you when you're hungry, and this stuff tastes nothing like American fruit."
"Oh?" Kara asked curiously, stepping close to one of the stalls.
"This is some of the best fruit you'll taste in your life. Almost as fresh as it gets. Might as well have picked it yourself. Absolutely heavenly. Not to mention organic."
Kara had to chuckle at the 'organic' comment. Lena was usually pretty strict about her diet, and although Kara knew this was a challenge for her, it was funny that she thought so highly of the organic status of the food before them that she made sure to mention it to her girlfriend.
After the blonde had picked out a ridiculously large amount of fruits, Lena commented, "You know we're just going for a few hours, right? And why didn't you get any vegetables?"
"I don't do green stuff," Kara commented nonchalantly, biting into the freshest, most juicy peach she'd ever eaten in her life and letting out a soft moan of surprised pleasure. "Holy shit."
"You don't…. What?" Lena gaped. "You need vegetables to—"
"Try this!" Kara cried, ignoring her girlfriend's protests. "It's amazing."
"I know it's amazing," Lena huffed, rolling her eyes. "I just told you that."
"Anyway," Kara said, happily taking another bite. "I think I'm good now."
"I'd hope so," Lena mumbled. "I don't think we can carry any more than this."
~!~!~
Kara's legs seemed to turn to Jell-O immediately upon taking her first step onto the dock. It wasn't exactly wobbly, but the water splashing back and forth all around her was making her nauseous.
"You can puke in the limo, but don't puke on my yacht," Lena told her, taking her hand and pulling her along the dock towards the biggest yacht in the port - which didn't surprise Kara a bit at this point.
The breathtaking view of the harbor distracted Kara enough to ease her stomach's discomfort, and by the time Lena stepped onto the yacht, held out her hand, and helped the blonde up, she'd forgotten the nausea completely.
"Wow," she breathed. "This is…"
"You gonna get sick?" Lena interjected, looking concerned until her companion shook her head. "Good. Now, let's have a drink."
"Lena, you know I don't—"
Waving her off, Lena interrupted, "I have soda, dweeb."
Kara smiled at this, comforted and touched by Lena's attention to her preferences and boundaries.
When Lena handed her a Coca-Cola, the blonde offered a quiet, "Thanks, hun," before sitting down in one of the luxurious seats near the rear of the boat.
"What are you doing?" Lena asked, raising an eyebrow as Kara sat in the chair beside hers.
"Sitting?"
"Why aren't you on my lap?" the brunette teased with a smirk.
Kara blushed and slowly rose from her seat, shuffling awkwardly over to her partner.
"Come here, sunshine. Let me hold you," Lena cooed, opening her arms.
Kara obeyed, wiggling next to the celebrity in her reclining seat as Lena put a comforting, protective arm around her. As content as she was, it still felt surreal for Kara to actually be laying with Lena this way.
When Lena whispered, "I love you, buttercup. Relax," Kara blushed slightly and tried to loosen her muscles and get comfortable.
Still, it wasn't exactly as successful as she would've liked. For whatever reason, this whole trip was… out of this world. And it didn't feel real. And it made her anxious.
"Kara," Lena said, finally sounding concerned. "What's wrong?"
"It's nothing," Kara said softly. "I just… feel weird. Being here."
"Do you not want—"
"No, no. It's nothing like that. I just feel so… at home with you… and yet… so out of place here. I'm so used to my house in the scummy part of town, with two square feet of garden and a block that gets shot up every week. This life… it's not me."
"It could be…" Lena replied gently.
"Lena," the blonde sighed. "This isn't me."
"Okay, well… Can you at least just consider this a once-in-a-lifetime vacation and… like… try to enjoy it?"
"Oh, hun, I didn't mean it that way. This has been amazing already, and I'm so happy to be here with you. It's just that weird feeling of being out of place is all. I love it here, honestly. It's absolutely gorgeous. And it suits you."
"It suits me?"
"Yeah. You're stunning, elegant, and radiant, just like this city."
"Kara," Lena laughed, nudging the girl's shoulder. "Shut up."
"Never," the younger girl said with a grin, sticking her tongue out teasingly.
"Put that in my mouth or put it away before I pull it out of your mouth," the brunette warned with a mischievous smirk.
"In your mouth, you say?"
Lena nodded.
"Okay."
Leaning in, Kara cupped the back of Lena's head and kissed her slowly until the girl's lips parted, at which time the blonde took her opportunity to caress Lena's tongue with her own. This went on for several moments before Lena started to moan, heart racing at Kara's sudden burst of bravery.
"You're perfect," Lena breathed, when Kara finally pulled away, after deepening the kiss a great deal.
"You are perfect."
Lena's hands slid down her partner's sides as she pulled Kara in for another kiss. Again, this went on for several moments, until both of them were panting for breath.
"We need to stop," Lena said, voice saturated with regret and reluctance.
"Lena, I—"
"No. Kara. We need to stop, or I'm going to tear your clothes off right here on this boat."
Bitting her lip, Kara looked into Lena's deep green eyes and found herself unsure of what to say.
"I don't wanna hurt you," the brunette told her, stroking her cheek. "And it's really hard to control myself around you."
"I'm glad."
"Huh?"
"I'm glad. I want you to want me. I don't get why you do, but I'm happy about it."
Lena had to smile at this, pecking her girlfriend on the lips before saying, "Love you, goober."
"Love you, too, dork."
"Hey, if anyone's a dork here, it's definitely you."
Kara laughed, rolling her eyes and booping noses with Lena.
"You're silly, and I love it."
"You're silly, and I love you."
''Yeah, you said that," Kara teased.
"I'm gonna throw you right off this boat and into the water," the star threatened with a smirk.
"You wouldn't."
"I would."
"Would not."
Now, Lena was in great shape, of course. With a personal trainer, vigorous workout routine, and impeccable diet, she had virtually no physical flaws. So, when she moved to stand up and dragged Kara with her, it was essentially effortless. And Kara was too shocked to resist anyway, at least until Lena pushed her back towards the railing.
"Lena, don't!" Kara cried. "I swear to God, if you get me wet—"
"You'll what?"
"I'll fucking ruin that outfit with ALL of my raspberries."
"I brought spares," the brunette said defiantly, shrugging.
"Well, I didn't," Kara whined.
Lena took a step forward, then stopped and laughed, telling her, "Oh, come on. Did you really think I was gonna throw you in the water against your will? I mean, I know you're an absolute pansy, but I wouldn't—"
"PANSY?!" Kara shouted. "I'm a what?!"
At first, Lena was a little shocked by Kara strong reaction to her joke. Then, she took it as a challenge.
"Totally a pansy. You wouldn't jump in in those clothes."
After shooting Lena an offended scowl, Kara looked apprehensively over the side of the boat at the water. Crystal clear and warm as could be. She could do it. Sure, she hated jumping from heights. But… if it meant proving a point - proving that she wasn't a pansy - she wasn't going to let the opportunity pass her by.
So, without further ado, Kara simple said, "Fuck you," turned around, and cannonballed off the side of the boat and into the water.
"What the fuck!" Lena shouted, as soon as Kara surfaced. "I was kidding! What are you going to wear to dinner tonight?"
"Your mom!" Kara shouted with a grin. "Now, get in here, pansy!"
"Ugh! You couldn't have waited for me to change into my bathing suit?"
"Nope!"
Rolling her eyes and letting out a frustrated huff, Lena dove expertly off of the yacht and into the water below.
"Wow, it's warm," Lena commented, upon surfacing.
Kara nodded with a smile and noted, "Nice dive. Where'd you learn to swim?"
"I took lessons from a former olympic medalist."
"Of course you did," the blonde laughed, splashing her girlfriend roughly.
"Hey!" the star cried in protest. "No splashing!"
"Why not?"
"Because I'll do this."
Lena shoved Kara under the water briefly and howled with laughter when her head popped back up with an expression of horror.
"Bitch!"
Shrugging, Lena grinned and taunted, "What are you gonna do about it?"
"I'm going to get you to shut that big mouth of yours."
With that, Kara lunged forward, grabbing Lena's face and kissing her roughly, holding their bodies together as they treaded water, legs brushing as their lips moved together.
"I want to touch you," Kara whispered in Lena's ear, biting down on her earlobe and making the girl yelp with surprise (and pleasure).
"Kara, don't say that," Lena whined.
"Why not?" the blonde asked playfully. "It's true."
"Stop trying to seduce me."
There was a short pause where Kara simply looked into Lena's eyes, her own blue orbs glowing with passion that shook the star to her core.
Then came the younger girl's simple, surprisingly confident reply.
"No."
