Chapter 4: The Metal Madness
Last time on Maria the Tenrec, having decided to return a life of normalcy, Maria is dragged into a misadventure of shopping by Amy Rose. Having enough of her money being used in such a way, Maria yells at Amy to stop. Though Maria attempts to apologize, they are soon confronted by a repaired Metal Sonic.

Station Square; Shopping District
*Maria and Amy look on to see Metal Sonic, standing in a small crater created upon his arrival. He stares as the people surrounding the three start panicking and leaving and with authorities arriving to arrest Metal Sonic.*
Police: "Freeze! Put your hands in the air!"
*Metal Sonic doesn't even acknowledge the police as he steps out of the crater.*
Metal Sonic: "Subject Maria. You are to be terminated as instructed by Dr. Robotnik. Effective immediately."
Maria: "What!?"
*Amy steps between Maria and Metal, her hammer appearing in her hands.*
Amy: "Back off, creep! You got the jump on me last time, but I intend to pay you back tenfold for it!"
*Metal Sonic looks at Amy, scanning her and recognizing her as the girl he kidnapped on Little Planet.*
Metal Sonic: "Scan complete. You are an inferior life form. Continue to interfere and death will not be swift. If anything... It will be the slowest and most painful thing you will feel." *He says with an intense glare.*
Police: "Shoot him! Shoot!"
*The police begin to fire away at Metal Sonic, but the robot turns his eyes to them. He raises a hand up and summons a black shield, deflecting the bullets back at the police, forcing them to retreat once they saw how ineffective their weapons were.*
Metal Sonic: "Returning to primary objecti-"
*Metal Sonic hit below the chin by an upward swing from Amy's hammer, sending him flying back before catching himself and floating with the rocket on his back.*
Amy: "Maria! Get somewhere to hide!"
Maria: "But what about you!?"
Amy: "I'll be fine." *Puts her hammer on her shoulders before flashing a smile and V-sign to Maria.* "Like I said, I have a bone to pick with him anyway!"
*Maria looks at Amy before running off. Metal Sonic tries to pursue, but gets blocked off by Amy.*
Amy: "Oh no you don't. You're not going anywhere, bucko!"
*Metal turned to Amy before avoiding another swing from her. He then flew down and landing a kick to Amy's face before curling up and slamming into her, sending her to a wall. Amy manages to get out of the wall, jumping over to the metal hedgehog and attempt to slam her hammer onto him. He dodges, taunting Amy with each dodge before blocking the last swing. He then uppercuts Amy and sends her into the air. He flies up and slams his fist onto her, sending her into a crater.*
Metal Sonic: "You are a mere distraction. I will deal with you later." *Flies off in pursuit of Maria.*
*Amy slowly starts getting up, panting as she looked at where Metal Sonic flew.*
Amy: "No way... Gotta go help Maria... I screwed up real bad by being too greedy... I need to fix my mistake..." *Runs after Metal Sonic, using her hammer to gain elevation and take a shortcut.*
*Metal Sonic flies through the streets of Station Square, scanning for Maria by using infared vision. He finds his target and makes a mad dash for her. Maria was running for quite a while, starting to feel tired as she slowed down. But then, Metal caught up to her with claws ready to end her.*
Amy: "Get away from her!" *Slams her hammer right on Metal Sonic from above, slamming him to the ground and pushing Maria back.*
Maria: "Amy!"
Amy: "Keep going! I'll be-"
*Metal Sonic grabs Amy by her face and slams her against the wall.*
Metal Sonic: "Annoyance levels, rising. Urge to kill, skyrocketing."
*As Metal had Amy in dead to rights, he is hit by a letter carrier box, knocking him off his feet and forcing him to let go of Amy.*
Maria: "Leave her alone, you creep!"
Amy: "Whoa... Thanks, Maria..."
*The two girls begin running as Metal stands back up, looking angered.*
*As the two girls ran, Amy notices one of Maria's bracelets was missing. Before she could comment, Metal manages to catch up to them and slam into them with a Spin Attack.*
Metal Sonic: "My patience has reached zero percent. You should have made this easy and surrendered. Then you would have gotten off easier. But now..." *Grabs Maria by the head and slams her against a lamp post.* "There will be nothing but a slow...and agonizing end to you for defying Master Robotn-"
*His sensors go off as he seems to detect a Chaos Emerald. He looks around, almost confused as he says the Chaos Emerald is in front of him. Scanning the area, he finds Maria to be letting out a high quantity of Chaos Energy.*
Metal Sonic: "...What? How can you be..." *He is hit by a sudden Spin Attack from the air as Sonic and Tails enter the scene.*
Sonic: "Man. Just as I was enjoying some time at the hotel, I hear some screaming tourists shout out some monster. Talk about rude timing, metal faker!"
Metal Sonic: "...Processing current situation. Three on one minimizes success rate to five percent. New information gathered. Retreat is the logical course of action. ...But don't think you have won yet, Sonic the Hedgehog..."
*Metal Sonic and Sonic glare each other down before Metal flies off, heading back to Eggman. Sonic stares off before turning to the girls.*
Tails: "Amy! Maria! Are you two alright?"
Amy: "I'm alright. Especially with Sonic here~" *Hearts start fluttering out of her as she looked dreamily at Sonic. Sonic just turns away.*
Maria: "Sonic. Thank you for saving us... I wasn't sure how long we could have kept up evading him..."
Sonic: "Heh. No problem." *Flashes a thumbs up before smiling.* "If he comes back, just holler and I'll kick his butt again. Oh!" *Pulls out a bracelet ring.* "Found this on my way here. Is this your's?"
*Maria checks her left wrist and finds ring missing. She nods and puts it back on.*
Amy: "So? Sonic? Wanna go on that date now?"
Sonic: "No way! I'm outta here!" *Runs off quickly before Amy could have the chance to grab him.*
Amy: "Ack! Sonic, you meanie! Get back here!" *Starts stomping her foot in frustration.*
Tails: "Ehehe... Well, I need to go too. I'm testing out a few things like a brand-new plane I built the other day. See you two later!" *Starts to run off, leaving the two girls.*
Station Square; Hotel Beach
*Dusk had arrived as Amy and Maria went to the beach to hangout and enjoy the sights. Amy was enjoying the scene, but noticed Maria looking sad.*
Amy: "Hey, Maria. I'm sorry about today... I mean it."
Maria: "Hm?"
Amy: "I got overexcited about trying to impress Sonic with a new look that maybe he'd find appealing that... I was blind about how abusive and abrasive I was being... To put it in a different way, I was inconsiderate and a jerk... Sorry..."
Maria: "..." *Hugs Amy and pulls her close.* "It's okay, Amy. I know you didn't mean anything by it. I should be the one apologizing...seeing as I just...let my frustrations out without any restraint. So...if it is okay... I'd like to stay friends..."
Amy: "Yeah. I'd like that too..." *Smiles before laying back.* "Well, how about you and I head to the hair salon and get our hair done? I think I need a cuter set of quills." *Brushes a hand through her still Sonic-like quill design.*
Maria: "Haha! Alright. Tomorrow, we'll head to the hair salon. But after, I want to go to the Mystic Ruins. Call it...me being adventurous."
Amy: "Deal!"
*The two girls share a laugh as the sun sets in the horizon.*
Eggman's Base
*Within Eggman's hidden base, his logo carved into the side of a mountain to signify his egotistical rule, the mad doctor was scanning through Metal Sonic's visual data and found something interesting.*
Eggman: "Is this some kind of glitch? You say that Maria has a high amount of Chaos energy within her systems?"
Metal Sonic: "Affirmative, Dr. Robotnik..."
Eggman: "...Is this a result of our grandfather's brilliance? A body that has the level of power as a Chaos Emerald?" *Turns to Metal Sonic.* "Metal Sonic! Once you are operational, you will be sent to find a Chaos Emerald! It is time to test a hypothesis. And if she's as impressive as you claim, my dear faithful creation... Then she'll make for an...excellent substitute for my greatest plan! Mwahahahahaha!"
