We were picking off the enemy krauts fairly well before we were bombarded from behind. I tried to tell the commander that we shouldn't have rushed in like that, but he didn't want to take reccomendations from a "non superior". To be fair, he had always seemed to gather his men from trouble before it took to many casualities. He always had a way, whether it was right or wrong in my eyes. Advantageous or not. He's dead now, so I suppose that makes me commander.

Commander of what? As I walk, I realise there is nobody around me to lead. Where is the rest of my squad? It must have been a few hours, since they've left.

When we were bombarded, I was in the middle of the spraying bullets. Our men began dropping like flies. I remember a bullet hitting my helmet. It felt like someone had hit my skull with a train. I thought for sure I had died. Until I woke up later in the evening. The original plan was for us to head East to set up camp and await further orders from command. So here I am now, walking. I can only hope that's still the plan.

Before I had left, I found an enemy corpse. I took his uniform and dressed myself in it. That might have been a dumb decision but I suppose we'll find out.

They must think I'm dead. I too, would think bodies, trapped underneath other corpses would be lifeless. I guess I'm an exception today.

After a few hours of wandering east, I stumbled upon a settlement. I was cautious of the thick fog around me. It could provide useful for cover if I needed it, but I was sure the enemy could think the same for himself.

Suddenly I heard German voices. They were yelling at someone before they began to laugh. I peaked my head around the corner to see a group of Nazi soldiers toying with soldiers from my squad.

The men were all tied, sitting on the cold, wet, muddy earth. The enemies surrounded them. I had seen something similar happen like this on a previous operation. It was only a matter of time before they pour gasoline and light a cigarette.

I stepped inside the nearest brick house. I had to save them, or at least die trying. This I knew. But it was the how that got me thinking. Stealth? Or no stealth? Why not a bit of both? The biggest advantage a man has over an entire army is that half the time they wouldn't recognize the man if he were right infront of them.

I put this idea to the test. And it worked. I worked my way around the small camp, finding sticky dynamite and planting it around the perimeter. Meanwhile, I kept my eyes on our escape out of here, a tank. I made sure to keep my bombs away from the vehicle.

From around a corner, I made eye contact with one of the captives, giving him a slight nod. He was quick to motion to the others an idea that they needed to prepare for what was about to happen. I took a bullet from my vest and tossed it to lure one of the men away from the group, now making it a four on five. The majority five being my squad mates. When the german rounded the corner, I covered his mouth, stabbing him repeatedly and storing his bloodied body in the nearby house. At that moment I picked up the detonator and pushed down on the lever. A few large booms followed, ratteling what was left of the smal camp.

I exchanged my knife for my rifle and fired away, helping my squad mates as they fought as well. Once their captors dropped, the men picked up everything that was dropped, including the uniforms.

I told them to follow me to the nearby tank. One of the men hopped in the drivers seat, claiming he knew where he was taking us. I didn't beleive him until he showed me a map with plans he was supposed to deliver to command.

We were sure to level the entire camp before we continued to head East.

We traveled for many hours. We still are. We have yet to stumble upon the command center. Perhaps we'll find other lost squad mates. If they're still alive...

"Commander." One of the men got their superior's attention. At the same time the vehicle began to sputter.

"We're out of gas sir." Another said.

"We walk then." The commander decided. "We don't stick out on foot as much anyways."

The group followed their commander into the greenery around them, hoping to find other friendlys before they became just another corpse some traveler stumbled upon in the woods.
