The time for Hiccup to give birth to his and Toothless's first child was coming soon, or at least, everyone believed it had to be because Hiccup was four months pregnant and looked to be the size of a normal human female who was nine months pregnant. Embla had already come and checked over Hiccup, deeming that between the current size of Hiccup's pregnant belly, and the movements; he would be going into labor sometime in the next few weeks. Embla already made the arrangements to be staying on Berk until such time came, and she'd be in the visitors hall until that moment arrived. Draco was also staying with Ryuka in the same building, and all of Toothless's siblings had come too. It was exciting and new, so no one wanted to miss it. That included the chieftains, who had ventured out and were staying in the visitors area too. Some of the heirs or heiresses came, but not all. Hiccup couldn't believe the turn out just for him being pregnant by a dragon, and giving birth to a half one. Either way, he didn't care because it was going to be a special moment for him and Toothless. Today was August 27th, and it did mark Hiccup's fourth month of pregnancy.
The man was extremely tired and of all the major complaints regarding his pregnancy; Hiccup's back probably hurt the most. Hiccup did still suffer being nauseous and severe mood swings. Toothless got the brunt of those, but sometimes Stoick, Gobber, the riders, and some of the villagers did too. Stoick was doing more of running the village than anything else right now because Hiccup just didn't have the energy to walk around all day to monitor things, and Embla advised against riding on Toothless due to how soon Hiccup was expected to give birth. Sometimes Hiccup could handle walking around, and others; he struggled to get out of bed. Toothless usually had to help him. Today was one where Hiccup seemed to be doing alright and walking around with Toothless to check on things in the village. It was late afternoon, so about 3:30 pm and Hiccup was beginning to feel that fatigue creep up on him.
"You alright, babe?" Toothless asked Hiccup, seeing his tired face and that his walking was slower.
"Getting tired, which is an understatement because I'm always tired…" Hiccup mumbled.
"You're growing a child, love…It's not gonna be easy on your body, especially when you're already usually pretty skinny and not built for anything major." Toothless reminded.
"Anything major?" Hiccup arched a brow at his mate. "Because I'm considered a runt and weak, right?"
Toothless instantly cursed himself for what he said and not realizing how it sounded until it came out. "No, no. Of course not, Hic. I-I meant about you being a boy and human males aren't…Built to carry babies," He explained quickly, not wanting to upset his lover.
"Oh, okay…" Hiccup replied, calming down and smiling.
Toothless just very narrowly dodged upsetting his mate; he sighed with relief. "Want to go back home and rest a bit?"
"After we check on the farming. It's just about harvest time, so I need to make sure we're going to be alright through the winter…" Hiccup said softly. While they walked, Hiccup felt the nausea threaten to make him throw up. Hiccup stopped walking and tried to take a few breaths. "Ho-Hold up, Tooth…I need a minute," Toothless held back with Hiccup, rubbing his back lightly.
"It's hard to miss the reality that he's actually pregnant," Someone stated as Toothless looked to see the Chieftains walking by.
"We should have made him step down," Madguts commented.
"He's not even running the village in this state, Stoick is." UG agreed.
"He's due any time in the next month, according to Gobber and Stoick based off the beliefs of the Night Fury healer," Dagur said. "He was handling the village fine when he just learned he was pregnant. I think all women get super tired when they're near the end of the pregnancy." He shrugged.
"He should have just slept with a woman and not had to worry, keep things as they were." Madguts rolled his eyes. "It's not natural that he's even pregnant, and can't control himself."
That one got Hiccup's attention as he looked over, eyes already narrowed. "Listen here you pain in my butt muttonhead!" Hiccup scolded.
"Oh boy…" Toothless sighed.
"So sorry that I don't follow your beliefs of what is and what isn't viking-like, but at least I'm happy and getting to do what most human male lovers wish they could…Which is have a family. It's hard, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm sorry my emotional state while pregnant isn't good enough for you to see that my village is running just fine without me having to babysit everyone. A chief delegates and trusts his people to do their work, stepping in only if there is a problem. I'm not overbearing, miserable, of insufferable like you are. You'd get any of this if you actually cared about anyone but your own self!" Hiccup ranted, continuing on and on in his moody state that Madguts caused by making remarks. Hiccup called him out on the fact they didn't need to be here at all for a bunch of people who don't even believe it should be happening, but all so curious too. Hiccup scolded him for being insensitive and disrespectful to another chieftain, and on an island not their own.
By the end, Madguts had actually gone wide eyed in what could be considered confusion or fear at how angry Hiccup got at him. Now, Hiccup was more upset than mad as Toothless was trying to make sure Hiccup didn't start crying. With things close to Hiccup giving birth, they didn't want anything to happen. "I feel like I should have just kept my comments to myself…" Madguts managed.
"Yeah, you really should have…" Toothless growled.
"Take me home…" Hiccup sniffled sadly to his mate.
"Of course, love," Toothless smiled. "All of you better keep your unsupportive comments to yourselves, and that is the only warning I will give you. The next time someone upsets Hiccup because they can't accept the situation; you'll deal with me. The requirements were clear, he has to give an heir and that's what he's doing. It shouldn't matter how. Sometimes things just happen for a reason, and there's no reasonable explanation as to why. This is how it went…So this is how it is. Get over it." He then turned and led Hiccup back home.

A week had passed and it was definitely getting closer to Hiccup giving birth because the baby was moving a lot and Hiccup practically had no energy to do anything but be back and forth to the bathroom from his and Toothless's bed. Toothless had to help Hiccup get anywhere out of the house, such as to the hall for meals. Embla confirmed that the birth was upon them and had started making sure things were ready with Ryuka, such as getting clean towels and tools. Hiccup was wearing larger clothes, obviously, since none of his fit anymore. It seemed everything was worse for him as far as the kicking, nausea, and fatigue. Hiccup was usually snacking all day long, but on fruit or bread. Stoick, on Draco's suggestion, had resumed full temporary chief position. Stoick was happy to run things in Hiccup's place, and report to him every day about how it all was. The room for the baby was done, it would be right next to Hiccup and Toothless's of course. Embla had been working with Hiccup to teach him how he'd nurse his child. His chest had grown a little and Embla confirmed that it was milk for the baby, so he'd nurse like a normal woman for a while. And the growth of the child would be faster, but only after two years old.
Embla has expected Hiccup to give birth in two weeks, or when he hit five months, and warned him again of what Ryuka said a few weeks back about what to look for with labor started. Hiccup was happy to be bringing a child into the world with his lover, but the pregnancy had been rough and he was ready to not be pregnant anymore. The journey to them have a child now was a learning experience all around and would hopefully be easier if Hiccup and Toothless decided to have another child. The only thing Toothless would have changed was the crazy mood swings, so he wouldn't have to get yelled at by his mate, who was currently very upset that they hadn't had sex in a couple weeks. Toothless was always happy to give Hiccup sex, but the problem had been Hiccup being too tired, sick, or just not in the mood to do it.
"Hiccup, love…Please calm down," Toothless told his lover.
It was only just after breakfast as they'd stayed home because it was a lot for Hiccup to be moving back and forth to the great hall. Hiccup had been lying in bed with just a long shirt on, and his underwear, and tried to snuggle up to Toothless and get loving with him when Toothless got up to check something outside. So now Hiccup was in a mood thinking Toothless didn't want him anymore.
"How can I be calm when I know my mate doesn't want me!?" Hiccup yelled.
"I am right here, babe…I'm not going anywhere. The only place I want to be as at your side…I always want you. Forever…" Toothless tried.
"You don't want me sexually anymore!" Toothless eyes widened. "You haven't touched me in weeks and when I just tried, you wandered off!"
"Hiccup, that's not the situation at all…I want you in all ways, but when I try you just-," Toothless began.
"Oh, now it's my fault?" Hiccup cried. "Of course, always my fault. It's because I'm pregnant and ugly…Isn't it?"
"No, love. Never. I would never even consider you being unattractive," Toothless held him lightly. "You're beautiful, and very sexy. Ssh, it's alright," He soothed gently. "Hiccup, we haven't had sex because you keep telling me now when I try. You're tired, or not feeling well, sometimes not in the mood…So I leave you alone. Trust me, I've wanted you for weeks now. Don't cry, please? I'm happy to make love to you any time you want it. We can have sex right now, if you want,"
Hiccup sniffled a bit and nodded to him. Toothless held Hiccup lovingly and leaned down to capture his lips in a passionate kiss.

After the morning sex, Hiccup was happy and calm once more. After the orgasm rush, Hiccup kissed Toothless all happy and told him he was the best. Then immediately afterward demanded apples with honey, so to keep his lover happy; Toothless got what Hiccup wanted and sat with him in bed while he snacked on his little treat. Shortly after all that, Hiccup fell asleep. Toothless was able to escape the bed easily to go clean up and check on some things with others while keeping an ear out for his mate to awaken and be ready for anything he wanted or needed. Hiccup did wake up several times, but it was to use the bathroom and get a back massage because he was super uncomfortable. Since all that, Hiccup managed to go back to sleep around 7:00 pm and told Toothless not to wake him for dinner because he felt nauseous and wasn't that hungry anyway. Now, it was about 11 pm when everyone was preparing to settle in for the night and get some sleep.
Unfortunately, Hiccup was just waking up and he did not feel okay at all. In fact, he was in pain and wanted Toothless. "Toothless…" Hiccup asked. No response. "Toothless?" Hiccup tried again. And then he suddenly got a sharp pain in his belly, and it definitely wasn't something he'd felt before. Hiccup held his belly, tying to rub it and soothe his child. "It's okay little one…Ssh," Hiccup continued to feel the pains that Ryuka and Embla warned him about. He was obviously in labor. Hiccup felt that pushing sensation and fought against doing it as he rolled onto his side, whimpering. He needed to get someone's attention that he needed help, and with several people on the island being dragons; the chance of just one being in hybrid form to hear him was pretty high.
"TOOTHLESS!" Hiccup yelled out.
Instantly, Toothless came into the room. "I'm here, love…I was showing the family around. Are you alright, what do you need?"
"I-I think it's time," Hiccup cringed. "The baby is coming…"
"Are you sure?" Toothless asked.
"Toothless, I'm sure…I feel everything your mom and Embla told me I would feel!" Hiccup snapped.
"Okay, okay…Relax, or…Try to. Breathe…And don't push. I'm gonna get my mom and Embla, alright? I won't go far," Toothless reassured. Hiccup nodded, and Toothless went to the door. "Mom!"
"Yes, son?" Ryuka replied.
"Get Embla…It's time, the baby is coming," Toothless told her, then quickly disappeared back inside to be at Hiccup's side.
Things picked up pretty quickly after Toothless made it known that Hiccup was actually in labor and soon, their baby would be in their arms. Ryuka and Embla were inside the house, preparing everything as Stoick was awake, and Gobber. In fact, quite the crowd was gathering outside Hiccup's house to wait for news. Inside Hiccup's house, Toothless just stayed at Hiccup's side to tell him everything would be okay. Ryuka and Embla were getting set up with the water, clean and never used dagger, then towels.
"Alright, Hiccup…We're set up. I'm gonna give you something for pain, it's going to numb your belly…" Embla told him.
"O-Okay…" Hiccup was trying to stay relaxed. "You did this to me! I hate you! We're never doing this again! You can get pregnant next time!" He scolded his husband.
"Happily if it means you're not in pain…" Toothless promised. He knew it was just Hiccup in pain right now and needed to vent. "It's alright, love…We'll have our baby soon." He smiled.
Embla smeared a paste on Hiccup's stomach and then all they could do was wait a little bit for it to kick in. Hiccup was still in so much pain, and he was crying as Toothless tried to soothe him. Embla poked Hiccup's stomach with the dagger a few times. "Can you feel that, Hiccup?"
"The kicking, or the knife. Kicking yes, anything else, no…" Hiccup panted.
"We're going to start now, try to stay calm…" Ryuka got ready with the towel.
Embla used the dagger to cut open Hiccup's stomach carefully and Ryuka would dab along the way until Embla was through enough that the water sack started to leak out. Ryuka took care of getting all that with another towel. Now, she had a clean and warm towel to receive the baby as Embla reached her hands into Hiccup's stomach to get the baby out. Hiccup was scared that something had happened, but relief washed over him when Embla got the baby out and set the child in Ryuka's waiting arms. There was a loud wait from the newborn.
"And we have a girl!" Embla announced happily over the crying after cutting the cord and Ryuka took care of washing the baby off, then wrapping it up comfortably in a blanket.
"Hear that, babe…A little girl. We have a daughter…" Toothless leaned over to kiss his lover's lips lightly.
Embla returned to close Hiccup's stomach but first made sure everything was back in place. However, she made a startling discovery. There was another baby in there! "Ryuka, call in your daughter to take that baby from you. We're not done yet…There's another one," Embla informed.
"Two? B-But we never heard a second heartbeat…" Toothless said quickly.
"I know, Toothless…But I swear to you there's another baby in here…" Embla remarked.
"Alva!" Ryuka called. "Come in here, please?"
Not more than a few moments later, Alva walked into the room. "Yes, Mom?"
"Take the baby for me and stay here with it…" Ryuka stated. Alva took the child from her, then sat off to the side to keep the girl calm. Ryuka quickly got ready with another towel as Embla worked to get the second baby out. What was worrisome was that this child wasn't crying after coming out. Embla set the baby in Ryuka's arms and cut the cord quickly. If that wasn't scary enough, Hiccup was starting to lose consciousness.
"I need to close him…" Embla whispered.
"Go, don't let him die…I'll handle the child," Ryuka said gently.
"Mom, what's wrong…Why isn't the baby crying," Toothless asked.
"M-My baby…" Hiccup fought to stay away as Embla worked to close the stomach up and stitch the best she could, then wrap Hiccup's stomach with bandages before covering him up.
"Get him something to eat and drink, Toothless. Get his energy back up…" Embla advised before going over to help Ryuka.
Toothless did what he was told and helped Hiccup to adjust to sit up a little more so he could eat and drink. Finally after a few more moments, there was another cry from the second child that Embla took from Hiccup's stomach. Hiccup cried and Toothless was just comforting him with whispers of it being alright now and to try not moving so his stomach would heal.
"We have a boy too," Ryuka beamed. "Both are doing wonderful…But I'm sure it's time for them to feed now,"
Embla and Ryuka brought both babies over to Hiccup and helped him get set up to let them nurse. When both babies were latched on and feeding, the girls stepped back. "They're beautiful, Hiccup…" Embla complimented.
"Congratulations to you both on your twins…" Alva smiled.
"What will you name them?" Ryuka asked.
"We'll figure that out and let you know during the tribe welcoming ceremony, which is pending on Hiccup's recovery…" Toothless informed. "For now, just tell everyone Hiccup had twins and everyone is doing well."
"You know they're going to ask…" Alva giggled.
"Tell them it's chief's orders and to get to sleep…" Hiccup yawned.
"Of course. Toothless…Help him through the night. No heavy lifting, and no moving much. If he needs the bathroom to relieve himself, I want you to carry him in there or give him a bucket to use from the bed. It's going to take a good week or so for that injury to close…When it is, I'll remove the stitches. He also needs to keep it clean…So small wash cloth baths." Embla advised.
"Right," Toothless nodded to her.
"Have a good night with your little ones. We'll be by in the morning to check in," Ryuka said, then she and the other two left the house.
"Can't believe we have two…" Hiccup said softly.
"I know, it's amazing," Toothless said lightly. "Thank you for going the last four months to carry and bring them into this world…"
"Thank you for becoming my friend, and my lover…" Hiccup slightly leaned against him. "We are going to have to think of names,"
"Let's worry about it tomorrow morning. You're exhausted, so as soon as the babies have finished feeding, we'll set them in the bassinet together with another blanket and keep it by the bed until you're healed and can be up and moving around to lift them." Toothless stated.
Hiccup nodded in agreement with what Toothless suggested. It didn't take long for the boy to finish feeding first, so Toothless burped him and set the child down to sleep in the bassinet, which Toothless brought into the bedroom. Soon after, the girl had finished and Hiccup burped her, but let Toothless lay her down next to her brother. It was too early for Hiccup to be moving around, so Toothless did just get him a small bucket to relieve himself in and then dumped it out and rinsed it. The males got comfortable and Hiccup began to drift off.
"I love you…" Hiccup said as he fell asleep.
"I love you too, Hiccup." Toothless kissed him on the forehead.
It wasn't much longer until Toothless glanced at the babies and fell asleep next.
