Chapter 4
Ana ran to Kate's room and told her the good news. Kate smiled, she knew he liked her. She also couldn't believe Ana was so bold. "Do you like him Ana?" Ana nodded. She thought he was incredibly sexy, but then she frowned because reality hit her. "Ana, what's wrong?"
Ana shook her head, "Kate, guys don't like me. Especially guys like him. I don't even know what I'm doing." Kate gave her a big pep talk and told her it would be okay and he must like her to go through all of that. They talked and giggled the rest of the night.
The next morning they got ready, ate breakfast, and headed out. Ana walked out and saw Wanda parked. Jason Taylor was standing beside her like a military soldier, "Miss Steele, everything should be running properly now. We will follow you to campus and you let me know if something doesn't seem right."
Kate smirked, "Wow Ana, he doesn't like you at all." Kate went to grab the door handle, because her car was still out of commission.
Then Jason Taylor stopped her, "Miss Kavanagh, this is Prescott she will take you to the dealership, your car is ready as well. Mr. Grey, Elliot figured you were going to need transportation to get your exams and the article ready." Kate smiled wide and hugged Ana.
This was all new for Ana. She smiled as he opened her door. "Thank you Mr. Taylor." He told her Taylor was just fine. "Well then I'm Ana not Miss Steele." He smiled thinking Christian met his match.
Kate worked hard and put a great article together. It was published and ready to go. The closer it got to Friday the more nervous Ana became and she wasn't alone. She thought Christian Grey had it all figured out, but she was so wrong.
Christian tapped his leg while he waited for Dr. Flynn. "Christian, come on in. Let's talk." Flynn sat in his chair and watched Christian. "So have you thought about what we talked about, telling your family the truth about Elena."
Christian held up his hand, "I can't deal with that right now. I'm in love and it's not possible. I have a date and I've never had a date. I don't know what to do." Christian was like a young teenager. Flynn knew Elena stole that from him. He also knew that it was possible for him to fall in love and live life, but the truth would have to come out and set him free.
Flynn had been working with Christian for quite a while. His parents actually sent him to Flynn when he was a teenager having horrible nightmares. Christian didn't remember much about his childhood before Carrick and Grace. He knew he had a mom and she had an abusive boyfriend, but didn't remember how it happened. His nightmares were awful and he would wake the entire house up. He still had them now from time to time. He was found with a dead woman only identified as Ella. Grace had one photo from the adoption agency. Ella was only believed to only be 17 or 18. She had dark brown hair and blue eyes that looked gray like his. Elena would find girls that matched her to beat and take out his aggression on. It's what he learned to do.
Flynn knew they wouldn't get anywhere until after this date. "Christian, just be you. That's all you have to do. That's all you should do, because being someone else won't help her get to know you. Son, your life is a lie, my advice is don't start this off the same way." Christian liked Flynn. He was brutally honest and Christian needed it.
Friday after their exams Kate and Ana came home. She was making lasagna, salad, garlic bread, and a chocolate cake. Kate was helping, "Ana, are you still nervous?" Ana checked on the food and left the oven on warm. Ana shrugged as she frosted the cake. She wasn't really nervous, but she was very unsure.
Elliot had been texting Kate every night. Christian hadn't said anything since the phone call. "What if he realized it was a mistake and this is just a pity dinner?" Kate didn't think that at all. Elliot had mentioned that even though Christian was a powerful businessman, he wasn't really outgoing.
Kate knew Christian liked her. She didn't tell Ana, but she went to see Christian earlier in the week to personally deliver him the article before it was printed. She told him to be careful with her. "I think we should get dressed and trust that everything will be ok. Ana you two seem alike. If it bothered you, why didn't you text him? This isn't the old days you know." Ana knew Kate was right. Kate was often right. They got dressed and ready to meet them.
Ana set the table. "Kate, are you and Elliot going to…you know, do anything tonight?" Kate smiled, she knew she was way ahead of Ana in that department. When they were freshman in college and her date spent the night, Ana had so many questions after.
Kate shrugged, "I don't know, I'm not a total slut, I don't always intend on having first date fucks." Ana felt bad, that's not what she meant. "Ana, relax and don't do anything you aren't ready for. If he breaks your heart I will break his nuts." They heard the buzzer downstairs, "Hello ladies! We're here!" They looked at each other, "Elliot!" Ana could almost bet Christian was rolling his eyes behind him.
They buzzed them up and Ana opened the door. "Hey Ana Banana!" Elliot kissed her cheek and walked in. Christian just gave him a mean look, but it turned to a smile as soon as he saw her face.
Christian was nothing like Elliot and Ana appreciated it. She thought he was a little silly and immature. "Miss Steele, good evening." Ana thought Christian needed to find his happy medium. Christian saw her face, "I mean Anastasia."
Ana laughed, "Ok stop. Rule number 1 you can't be this formal, I'm not a business deal Christian. Call me Ana or the date is off." Christian smirked when he realized she had rules. He looked down at the gift in his hands and back at her face. She was smiling wide, "I'm kidding Christian, but I do just like Ana."
He smiled and he never smiled, Ana did a lot to him. "I just think you have a beautiful name. This is for you." Christian asked Elliot to find out something about her. Kate told him she likes to read and this was her favorite.
She opened it and saw books. It was Tess of the D'Urbervilles. "Christian, I can't take these. They're first editions, they must have cost you a fortune." He just smiled. She looked at the quote, "Why didn't you tell me there was danger? Why didn't you warn me? Ladies know what to guard against, because they read novels that tell them of these tricks." She knew what the quote meant, but she wondered what he meant. She knew the book well. Christian Grey had a mysterious side. "We'll talk about this later, let's eat."
Dinner was nice, but they also had Elliot and Kate to help break the ice. As they headed into dessert, Ana wondered if they could do this alone. Ana looked at Christian, "Do you want to go for a walk?" Christian's face froze and he wondered if she did that a lot. The streets could be dangerous. He had to remind himself this wasn't his usual girl, so he agreed.
They weren't even out of the door, when she heard Kate squealing as Elliot picked her up. She rolled her eyes and Christian gave her a stern look. "Rolling your eyes is rude." Ana giggled and his dick instantly became hard. Ana was breaking him.
They stepped out and Ana saw Taylor. "Hey Taylor!" She gave him a wave and he smiled back, "Ana." Christian immediately looked at Taylor and shrugged. They walked and talked.
Christian thought she was beautiful inside and out, "So Ana, do you have a boyfriend?" She giggled again and said she wouldn't do all of this if she had a boyfriend. Christian was bad at this. Ana started telling him more about how she grew up. He knew from the first dinner, she didn't have a fairytale beginning and neither did he.
He thought about what Flynn said about the truth. "You know they adopted all of us Elliot and Mia, but my mom was on drugs and her pimp, boyfriend, whoever the hell he was to her, used to beat me. That's what they think happened. They overdose and died with me there. I was three." He looked over not sure about what he would see, and it was compassion, a lot different than pity.
Ana looked up and saw Escala, "Your building is beautiful at night. You know I walk by her all of the time. I can't believe I've never seen you. You said you run a lot. I do too sometimes." Ana bit her lip, she knew she wasn't ready for sex. A virgin with a billionaire. "I have a feeling we shouldn't go back to my place. Do you want to go to yours?"
Christian looked shocked, "Well, just invite yourself up, why don't you." They headed inside. Christian held up his finger and promised to be quick. He went to the front desk and spoke to the manager.
Ana waited patiently and watched him talk. "Christian Grey! What the fuck is wrong with you?" Ana saw an older woman with shoulder length blonde hair. She looked mean and stuck up.
Christian hushed her and looked right at Ana. "She's with you? Where did you find your own sub…" Christian showed his anger and threatened to ruin her if she didn't shut up.
Ana stood there not sure about what was happening, but it wasn't good whatever this was. The woman looked at Ana and narrowed her eyes at her before walking away. Christian looked so small and sad. "If you want to leave, I'll walk you back."
Ana didn't want to leave him so she shook her head and went with him upstairs. Christian opened some wine and they sat in the family room. "So are you going to come clean and tell me what that scene was about?" Christian knew Ana would never speak to him again. More than that he wondered if he should make her sign something now.
He was thinking hard and he looked up. Her face was innocent and kind. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you." Ana didn't budge. "You will believe me, but you will hate me. I don't want you to hate me."
Christian sighed, "The entire week, I felt like I was young again and getting a redo. I've never had a date before Ana, my lifestyle didn't allow for it." Ana asked if he meant because he was rich and powerful. She laughed that giggle that gave his body chills. "Not quite."
He was so serious and that episode downstairs was serious. Ana shrugged, "Christian, stop speaking in code. Either tell me or don't. I'll be your friend regardless. It's not the end. I understand if you don't want to, it's ok." The more Ana spoke, the more he loved her.
Christian smiled, "Friends? That's it?" Ana shrugged. Christian wanted out of the friend zone with Ana, but this was a big ask. Christian grabbed her hand and walked her upstairs and he stood in front of the door to his secret room. "I need to tell you something. You don't get how bad this is. I have a therapist and he told me I should tell you the truth and I'm taking his advice."
Christian unlocked the door and Ana walked in. She saw red walls, a bed in the middle, belts, whips, and even chains hanging from the ceiling. She read a lot, not just old romance novels. She knew exactly what this was and what the room was for. "Holy shit!"
