Vincent didn't get paid enough for this. Bodyguarding a team of scientists was one thing, but aliens were beyond him. Especially eight foot tall, blue skinned, naked comatose aliens. She actually reminded him of a female Roegadyn. However, her hair and the glimpses he had caught of her eyes definitely defined her as otherworldly. Whenever they did open her eyes to examine them he felt his hand instinctively creep toward the pistol at his hip.

"Jenova." Doctor Hojo said as he looked her over, hunching over even more than usual. A grin that seemed fitting for spiders to crawl out of spread across the scientist's thin lips. Vincent had seen enough for the time being. He leaned over to whisper tLucreciao .

"I'm going to talk to Garland." he said to her. He left the room and straightened his coat. He was eager to return to Balamb once this was all over.

In the corridor, his footsteps echoed in a way that unnerved him further. Despite his less than calm feelings, he knew that this all came from the mad scientist story he was playing a part in. Which brought him to the next room over, where he saw Garland, a man with graying hair and habit of wearing the blackest possible clothing. In this room, the surgery table was traded for two large tubes, tubes in which two figures floated. Both were male, and both were slightly effeminate. Princely may be a good word for it. A short blonde boy, and a slightly taller one with silver hair. They both appeared human, were it not for the tails they had. Vincent sighed, turning back and running his hand through his raven hair.

"Problem, mr. Valentine?" A voice asked from down the hall. His employer, a man Vincent only knew as the Emperor.

"No sir, just checking in with everyone." Vincent replied with a calm and collected demeanor. The Emperor tilted his head, that streak of white in his hair falling over his right eye.

"Are we expecting an attack from Midgar? Maybe a spy?" He asked. Vincent shrugged, then put his hands on his hips.

"I always expect trouble, it's what makes Balamb mercenaries so effective." He said.

A sudden scream from the first room got Vincent's attention. He drew his handgun and dashed inside, pulling back the hammer. Jenova, she was alive. Rather, she was less dead. Her cells had never quite died, but now she was sitting up, and she had Hojo by the throat. Vincent shot her wrist, causing her to hiss and drop the scientist. Vincent's aim changed ever so slightly.

"No! Don't!" Hojo yelled, but by the time he had, Vincent had unloaded the cylinder into her head. He emptied the shells and reloaded. Jenova dashed off the table and lunged at Vincent. The mercenary rolled out of the way. Garland ran into the room and cast a spell in an attempt to contain the alien, but it was easily broken. Jenova began to grow, shooting off bolts of energy haphazardly.

"Everyone out! Now!" Vincent shouted. The Emperor was gone. Lucrecia helped Hojo out, and Garland vanished. The ceiling collapsed. Light poured in and Jenova's form shifted, tentacles and strange shapes lashing out. Vincent was shaky, and was far from capable of avoiding every attack. However, for every tentacle that lashed him he returned five times as many bullets. Jenova began to shrink back down and stagger, apparently this thing wasn't immune to his gun. He aimed again, only to have the gun smacked from his hand by the creature. Jenova stumbled and fell, blue blood splattering the floor. It spoke to Vincent, words that he could not comprehend. Then, it dragged itself to its feet, and jumped through the hole it had created.

"What a disaster!" Hojo shouted. Vincent dropped to one knee in exhaustion. "I'd expect that bastard Emet to disappear like he always does, but even Garland and all his equipment is gone too!" To Vincent's surprise, Hojo kicked him to stop the mercenary from standing. Vincent growled, but he was in no shape to fight back. "This is your fault for being so trigger happy!" The scientist snarled.

"That's enough!" Lucrecia shouted, but Hojo just sneered. In a quick movement, he injected Vincent with something. The mercenary immediately had his vision going blurry.

"You'll do as I say, unless you want-" Vincent never heard the rest of what Hojo said.
