Angel Andy and Darla sat at the table in quake waiting for Piper and Phoebe to arrive. "So you're an inspector. That must be interesting" Darla said looking Andy up and down. Angel sat between the two to make sure Darla didn't try anything. Andy nodded his head. "It is. I get interesting cases all the time" Andy said. Darla smiled at him. "I hear your engaged to a charmed one" she said. "Yea I am" Andy said slowly. "So hunting demons must not be new to you" Darla said. "Well we're all fairly new to this magical world to be honest with you" Andy said. "So tell me where is their book of shadows" Darla asked. "That's enough with the questions. Let's just sit here and wait for Piper and Phoebe" Angel said. Five minutes later Piper and Phoebe walked into the restaurant. "You go ahead into the kitchen. I'm gonna cough on Martin and tell him I'm highly contagious so I can go home" Piper said to Phoebe. "Love the plan" Phoebe said heading for the kitchen.
"Piper" Andy called out from the table. Piper walked up to the table. "Hi guys" she said. She looked at Darla and held out her hand. "I'm Piper" Piper said. Angel stepped in front of Darla before she could respond. "Piper this is my ex Darla" Angel said. Piper looked at Angel surprised. "Ex as in…" Piper started to say. "Vampire ex back when he was more fun" Darla said. Angel shook his head. One of the waitresses walked up to Piper. "Hey Piper did your sweetie find you" she asked. "My what" Piper asked. "That guy with the English accent. He called earlier to see if you were working today" the waitress said. "No I haven't seen him but thanks for letting me know he called" Piper said. The waitress walked away. "That sounds like Matthew" Angel said. Just then Cordelia and Doyle came up to the table. "What are you guys doing out here" Doyle asked. "What do you mean" Andy asked. "Matthew's in the kitchen" he said. "Phoebe" Piper said running to the kitchen. Everyone followed her to the kitchen.
Piper, Andy, Angel, Cordelia, Doyle and Darla ran into the kitchen seeing Phoebe on the floor. Piper ran over to Phoebe. "Are you OK" Piper asked. "Yea. It was Matthew. He's gone but he copied my power" Phoebe said. Piper helped Phoebe up. "Great now he has two of their powers. All he needs is the third one to complete the set" Darla said. "Well we just have to stop him before he gets it" Angel said. Just then Andy's phone rang. "Hello" he said answering it. "Did you get everything" Prue asked. "Piper's going to get everything and then we're going to head home but we have a problem. Matthew copied Phoebe's power" Andy said. "He what" Prue asked. "Yea he attacked her here at quake and got her power" he said. "Is she Ok" Prue asked. "Yea she's fine but we have to hurry up with this curse. I'll come home and then we can go get the feather" Andy said. "OK. I love you" Prue said. "I love you too. I'll see you later" Andy said hanging up the phone.
"Who was that" Angel asked. "Prue. She's waiting for me then we got to go get the feather from the spotted owl" Andy said. "The what" Cordelia asked. "It's the last ingredient we need for the curse" Piper said. "Prue said she'd take care of it" Phoebe said. Andy nodded. "I'm going to go home and pick her up then we'll take care of it together. I don't want her out there by herself while Matthew is still running around out there" he said. "Wait a second Andy. Aren't you doing the night shift" Piper said. "Yea. I'm going to go home, get dressed for work then we will get the feather" he said. "I'll go with you. It wouldn't hurt for you guys to have some backup" Angel said. Cordelia shook her head. "No. Matthew has your vampire strength. He's a threat to you too" she said. "Don't worry I'll be fine" Angel said. "I'm going to go search around the city using the sewers to see if I can find Matthew" Darla said. Angel nodded to her and she left. Doyle turned to Cordelia. "I have to go back to the office" he said.
"I'll take you back there then I'll swing by the manor and stay with Melinda. She shouldn't be alone especially since she's in a new century where she doesn't know anything" Cordelia said. Angel took her hand. "Be careful" he said. Cordelia nodded. "You too" she said giving Angel a quick kiss. Cordelia and Doyle left. Andy turned to Piper and Phoebe. "You two get the ingredients we need from here. Me, Prue and Angel will get the feather and we'll meet you guys back at the manor" Andy said. Piper and Phoebe nodded as Angel and Andy left. Piper and Phoebe started to gather the ingredients. Phoebe read them off a paper to make sure they had everything. Once they knew they did they walked out of the kitchen. "Maybe we should call home just to make sure Melinda is OK. She must be scared being by herself" Phoebe said. "She's not by herself yet. Prue's still there, then Cordelia's going to be with her" Piper said. "Still I just want to make sure she's OK" Phoebe said.
Andy arrived at the manor. He got out of his car and walked into the house completely unaware that Darryl, his partner, was watching him. He greeted Prue and Melinda, went upstairs, took a quick shower and got dressed for work. Angel was waiting in his car. He was going to follow Prue and Andy in his car. "Did you find where they have a spotted owl" Andy asked finishing tying his tie as him, Prue and Melinda walked downstairs. "There's one at the museum where I used to work. Stuffed" Prue said. "We only need one feather" Melinda said. "Good well maybe I'll be able to get it down to a misdemeanor" Andy said as they reached the bottom of the stairs. "We'll be back as soon as we can" Prue said hugging Melinda. "OK" Melinda said. "Our friend Cordelia will be coming here to stay with you" Andy said. Melinda nodded. Prue and Andy walked out of the house and into Andy's car. They pulled out of the driveway and drove down the street. Angel followed them. Unbeknownst to them Darryl also followed.
Cordelia arrived at the manor and saw that the door was open. "Melinda" she called as she walked in. She saw Melinda standing by the stairs crying. "Oh my god Melinda. Are you OK" Cordelia asked walking over to her. Melinda shook her head. "Matthew was just here. He said he was going to kill the girls" Melinda said. Cordelia hugged Melinda. "Don't worry. Piper and Phoebe are getting the ingredients. They should be home soon" Cordelia said. Melinda nodded. "Prue and Andy are going to get the feather from the spotted owl" Melinda said. "I know. Angel's going with them" Cordelia said. Melinda gave Cordelia a serious look. "You can't trust that vampire. I did and him and his vampire girlfriend betrayed me. He's a bad man. I can see that you're a good person. Don't let him manipulate you Cordelia" Melinda said. Cordelia shook her head. "Darla's his ex and Angel's changed. He has a soul now. He's not the same man he used to be" she said. "Just be careful" Melinda said.
Doyle was in the office on the phone. "Well let me know what you find. This warlock is incredibly dangerous" Doyle said to the demon on the phone with him. "I'll look into it and let you know what I find" the demon, Lorne said into the phone. "Thank you. I appreciate it" Doyle said. "Anything for an old friend" Lorne said. Just then Doyle heard a bang come from Angel and Cordelia's small apartment downstairs. He looked over toward the elevator. "Listen Lorne I have to go. Keep me informed" Doyle said. "Definitely" Lorne said. Doyle hung up the phone and took out a knife Cordelia kept hidden in her desk. Doyle slowly walked toward the stairs not wanting to take the elevator and alert whoever was in the basement. He slowly walked down the stairs making sure not to make much noise. When he got down the stairs he was shocked by what he found. Everything was destroyed. Plates, pictures, the kitchen table and couch were turned over. The phone had been destroyed.
Doyle walked over to Angel and Cordelia's room and there were clothes everywhere. Their dresser was on the floor smashed. Doyle turned around and saw Matthew standing behind him. Matthew punched Doyle hard sending him flying across the room. He hit the wall hard and dropped the knife. Doyle tried to reach for it but Matthew blinked over and picked up the knife. He leaned down close to Doyle's face. "Melinda told me Prue had went to the zoo but I searched there and couldn't find her. Tell me where is she" Matthew asked. "Go to hell" Doyle said as he stood up. Matthew squinted his eyes and Doyle flew across the room again. Matthew blinked to Doyle and grabbed him pinning him against the wall. He took out a photo and held it up so Doyle could see. It was a photo of Angel, Cordelia and Doyle smiling together. "You're close to Angelus. You're going to help me get my revenge on the vampire. Tell me who is this woman with the two of you" Matthew asked.
"OK fine I'll tell you but you have to lean in" Doyle said. Matthew leaned in and then Doyle headbutted him. He took the knife from Matthew and stabbed him in the leg. Matthew yelled out in pain. Doyle then punched him in the face and ran out of the room. He ran to the stairs but felt himself get thrown across the room again. Matthew blinked in front of Doyle and roughly grabbed him. "You shouldn't have done that. Now like I said you're going to help me get my revenge" Matthew said. "I won't help you hurt my friends. I'd rather die" Doyle said. Matthew laughed. "Well that's going to happen but first you're going to do me a favor. You're going to call both Angelus and the woman in that photo here and I will kill the both of you in front of Angelus. Then I'll kill him in front of Darla. Then I'll kill her" Matthew said. "Screw you" Doyle said. All of a sudden he felt a sharp pain go through his stomach. "Call them or this knife goes further in and you will die" Matthew said.
At the manor, Cordelia and Melinda sat on the couch waiting for Piper and Phoebe to arrive home. "Prue, Melinda, Cordelia" Piper called out. "We're in here" Cordelia called back. Phoebe and Piper looked into the living room and saw Cordelia and Melinda sitting on the couch. They walked into the living room. "Are you OK" Piper asked. "It was Matthew wasn't it" Phoebe asked. "Yes but don't worry he's gone" Melinda said. "He wasn't here when I arrived" Cordelia said. "He found us at the restaurant and he copied my power. He said he was going to kill you and I was so…" Phoebe said freaking out. Melinda stood up. "It's all right Phoebe but we've got to hurry before Matthew gets back. Did you get all the herbs " Melinda asked. Phoebe nodded her head. "Yea" she said. "Yea all we need now is the feather" Piper said. "Good. Prue and Andy are taking care of that" Melinda said. Phoebe looked at her shocked. "How" she asked.
That night, Prue, Andy and Angel arrived at the museum. Andy walked up to one of the security guards and took his badge off his belt showing it to the security guard. "Me and my associates need to get into the museum" he said. The security guard shook his head. "I'm sorry inspector but I can't do that" he said. "I'm working on a case and it is important that we get in there. You wouldn't want me to make a call to your superiors now would you" Andy asked. The security guard gulped. He needed this job and didn't need to get in trouble for this. "OK you have 15 minutes" the security guard said unlocking the door. Andy put his badge back on his belt and motioned for Angel and Prue to come. They walked into the building and Andy looked at the security guard. "Not a word about this" he said. The security guard nodded and Andy walked into the building. They found the owl behind a cage and Prue used her power to get the feather. They left out the backway and ran to Andy's car.
Back at the Angel investigations office, Matthew was growing impatient with Doyle. "What's taking so long" Matthew asked. "I'm trying them but their not answering" Doyle said dialing a number on his cell phone, that wasn't real while holding his side which was I pain from the stab from the knife. Matthew walked up to him. "Get them here or you will die a slow and very painful death" he said. Doyle nodded and called again. There was no way he was going to lead any of his friends to their death. He dialed another fake number and looked at Matthew. "Their not answering" Doyle said. Matthew sighed frustrated and shrugged his shoulders. "They eventually have to come looking for you" Matthew said. Matthew walked closer to Doyle and Doyle kicked him in his private area. Matthew fell to the floor in pain. Doyle ran up the stairs and headed toward the office door. He opened it and was shocked when he felt a knife go into his stomach. Matthew was standing in front of him. "Now they'll come" he said.
"OK thanks" Andy said hanging up the phone. He had called his job and told them he would be late. He needed to go home and make sure nothing happened to Prue and her sisters. Andy turned to Prue. "I called the station and told them I was going to be late. They said that was OK. So let's head home" Andy said going to start his car but Prue grabbed his arm stopping him. "Andy wait" Prue said. Andy looked at her confused. "We have the feather. All we have to do is go home and give it to Melinda" he said. "I think you should go into work and me and Angel will bring the feather to Melinda" Prue said. Angel nodded his head from the backseat. "Yea me and Prue got this" he said. Andy shook his head. "Why? We have to stop Matthew" Andy said. Prue shook her head. "No. Me my sisters and Angel have to stop Matthew. Just go to work. You'll be safe there" Prue said. "I've never sat out while you guys went demon hunting" Andy said.
"This time is different. Matthew's really powerful and he has my powers. It's too dangerous. He already hurt you once" Prue said. Angel nodded in agreement. "Prue's right. You can't be there for this battle" Angel said. "I appreciate the both of your concerns but I'm a big boy and I can make my own decisions and I'm not letting my fiancé, her sisters or my friends go up against Matthew by themselves" he said. "Andy, please, you have to stay away" Prue said. Andy shook his head. "No I'm not staying away" he said. "We will all be there. Me, Prue, Piper and Phoebe. We'll be fine" Angel said. "For the last time I'm not letting you guys do this by yourselves. That's the end of the conversation" Andy said. "Andy I'm sorry" Prue said grabbing the feather from him. She went to get out of the car but Andy grabbed her arm. "No Prue. You can't. Prue…" Andy started to say but was cut off when Prue squinted her eyes. Andy's keys flew out of his hands and into hers.
She squinted her eyes again and Andy's handcuffs handcuffed his hand to the door. Andy looked at Prue shocked. "Prue what the hell are you doing" he asked. Prue squinted her eyes again and the seatbelt wrapped around Andy's body pulling him back in the seat. She squinted her eyes again and tightened the seatbelt around Andy so he couldn't move. Then she squinted her eyes again and released the airbag from the steering wheel. Andy was trapped and wouldn't be able to follow her. "I'll come back for you after we've stopped Matthew. Angel let's go" Prue said getting out of the car. Angel got out of the car after Prue. "Prue get back here. You don't know what you're doing" Andy said. Andy banged his free hand against the airbag frustrated. He couldn't believe Prue would do this to him. He watched as Angel and Prue in Angel's car drove away leaving him trapped here. Andy couldn't move. He saw someone open the passenger side door and get in. He was shocked to see his partner Darryl sitting in the passenger side. "Well Trudeau, seeing as you're a little tied up right now, we have time to talk" Darryl said. Andy looked at his partner surprised. How the hell was he going to get out of this one?
Angel and Prue were driving to the manor when Angel's phone rang. He looked at it and saw Doyle was calling. "Doyle hi. We got all the ingredients me and Prue are heading to the manor right now" Angel said into the phone. "Oh was that his name. Your friend, Doyle, was really loyal to you. To the end unfortunately for him" Matthew said into the phone. Angel hit the brakes really hard and stopped the car. Prue looked over at him. "What's wrong" Prue asked. "Where's Doyle" Angel asked. "Oh your friend is on the brink of death. All I have to do is push this further in" Matthew said and Angel heard Doyle scream in pain on the other end of the phone. "What do you want" Angel asked. "You Angelus. If you want your friend come and get him. We're at your office. Bring everyone. We'll make it a party. You have one hour before your friend dies" Matthew said hanging up the phone. Angel hung up his phone and turned the car around. "What's wrong" she asked. "Matthew's got Doyle" Angel said.
Angel and Prue arrived outside the office. Angel got out of the car an Prue did the same. "Take the car back to the manor. Give Melinda the feather and so that she get the curse started" Angel said Prue shook her head. "I'm not letting you go in there by yourself. I'm going with you" she said. "You can't Matthew has your powers so they won't work on him" Angel said. "That doesn't matter. I can't let you go in there by yourself" Prue said. "I'll be fine. I'll distract him while you guys get the curse set up" Angel said. Prue shook her head again while Angel put the keys in her hand. "Do it. You have to go back to the manor. If you guys can get the curse set up we can stop him for good this time" he said. "Angel I don't know" Prue said. "I'll be fine. I promise" he said. After a moment Prue hugged him. "Be careful" Prue said. Angel nodded. "I will. Get the curse ready so we can end him once and for all" Angel said. Prue nodded and got in Angel's car and drove away.
Angel walked up to the office and saw that the door was open. He walked in and saw blood on the floor. It smelt like Doyle's. He better not be dead Angel thought. He slowly followed the trail of blood down the stairs and saw that everything was destroyed. Cordelia was going to be pissed. He looked into his room and saw Doyle bleeding out on the floor next to the mattress which was halfway off the bed. The knife was sticking out of his chest. "Doyle" Angel yelled running up to him and pulling the knife out. Doyle was unconscious and his face was bloodied up and he was lying in a puddle of his own blood. "Doyle" Angel called shaking him but he didn't respond. Please don't be dead Angel thought to himself. He checked for a pulse. There was a faint one but it was there. Before Angel could do anything he was thrown across the room. He hit the wall hard. He saw Matthew walk up to Doyle. "You're friend was willing to die for you. I'm about to honor his wish" Matthew said.
"Don't touch him" Angel got up and charged after Matthew. Matthew squinted his eyes and Angel went flying out of the room. Matthew blinked away. Angel got up but before he knew Matthew blinked in front of him and punched him which sent him flying into the elevator. The door broke and Angel laid there. "Your's and the witch's powers have come in handy. You can't lay a finger on me while I can hurt you" Matthew said. Angel was just getting up when Matthew sent him flying into the stove. Angel rolled off it and onto the floor. Angel was bleeding all over his face and having a hard time getting up. He finally got up and he saw Matthew walking toward him. Angel threw out his fist to punch him but Matthew caught his arm. He laughed. "That's not going to work. Look at you the mighty and scary Angelus is weak now. So weak that I can do this without issue" Matthew said grabbing Angel by the coat and throwing Angel across the room like a rag doll.
Matthew walked over to one of the chairs and ripped off a leg making a stake. He walked up to Angel who was struggling to get up. Angel was on all fours when Matthew went over and kicked him in the face. Angel fell onto his back. "I told you'd pay for trapping me in that locket" Matthew said. Angel saw dirt on the floor and grabbed some. "After I finish with you Darla is next" Matthew said. "I don't think so" Angel said surprising Matthew and throwing the dirt into Matthew's eyes. Matthew yelled out. Now he was blinded. Angel morphed into his vamp face. "My turn" Angel said kicking him hard sending him flying across the room. Matthew tried to get up but Angel kicked him to the ground. "You know your nothing without the powers you stole but you forgot one thing" Angel said throwing Matthew across the room. "Nothing beats the original" Angel said walking over to Matthew. Angel picked Matthew up by his jacket.
"You forgot something Angelus" Matthew said. "What's that" Angel asked. "Your strength wasn't the only power I copied from you" Matthew said and his face morphed into a vampire face. Before Angel could do anything Matthew bit him in the neck causing Angel to yell out in pain and drop to his knees. Angel morphed back into his human face clearly weakened. Matthew stopped biting him and let go of him letting him drop to the floor. Angel was barely conscious. Matthew grabbed Angel by the hair and roughly pulled his head up. Matthew laughed. "Years ago we were in this same position but reversed. Oh how the tables have turned" he said. Matthew squinted his eyes and the homemade stake came right to it. He lifted it up but didn't bring it down. He smiled down at the weak vampire at his mercy. An idea hit him. He leaned down to Angel's ear. "This is too easy. You're going to lose everything before I kill you. I'm going to find that woman in this photograph and kill her. Once you know you lost everyone you care about then I'll come back and take you out of your mercy" Matthew said letting go of Angel. Angel saw that the photo was a picture of him Cordelia and Doyle. He couldn't let anything happen to Cordelia. He tried to get up but Matthew punched him hard knocking him out. He smiled down at the unconscious vampire. He would deal with him later. Right now he had another power to obtain, then four witches to kill and then kill whoever that woman was in the photograph.
