The dot by the "REC" symbol blinked. The timer ticked upward. Yet, nothing happened. All black.
Until...
The darkness was suddenly torn apart by a torrent of multicolored pixels. Harsh cyans, yellows, magentas, blacks. The dot sped up, rapidly flickering. The screen tore in multiple places. Streams of color flowed in different directions. Static flooded the speakers.
It stopped.
Then a high-pitched whine emerged. It started faint, a ringing off in the distance. As it rose, something slowly appeared in the darkness. A figure, grey with two red dot-eyes. By now the HUD had disappeared, save for the timer. It counted up. It froze entirely.
The whine kept getting louder.
Words flashed.
"LET ME IN."
