Amy and Shadow were standing on the grassy edge of Emerald Coast, admiring the water below as the orange sunset filled the rest of the view with a couple of clouds. Amy shuffled a little closer to Shadow whose face was blank as he stared at the sky.
"Hey Shadow, are you feeling okay after the adventure you just had?"
"I'm fine. I already knew I was considered a weapon but I didn't know I was connected to an alien race. I can't believe I trusted them because I got amnesia again."
It was silent for a few minutes as Amy was trying to build up the courage for what she wanted to say next."
"This situation reminded me of something I realized a couple of years ago, I've never told anyone. Not even Sonic or even Cream. You don't mind if I tell you, right?"
"No, you've intrigued me and you can always say what's on your mind."
"Well, when I was younger Sonic saved me from Little planet. I used to live there, using my tarot cards I made, I predicted Sonic would be coming. Then tried to take over by putting machines all over and trying to take the time stones. Anyway, I was an orphan and like you I didn't remember much. Although I did find out I had incredible strength. That's what these are for." Amy finished, showing Shadow the rings on her wrists.
"Those rings hold power?"
"Yeah. If I'm enraged enough, they will absorb it. I couldn't find any evidence of regular people at all. There were just animals. I took a DNA test here on earth but the doctors couldn't figure out what the non-hedgehog side of me was."
"So you're saying you think you're half alien like me?"
"Yeah, I was left alone on that planet alone. I always felt different. Not everyone's psychic. Not everyone's insanely strong. People just think these are weights or fashionable rings. I thought I could confide in you since you would understand."
"Well, it's nice to know. Rouge could give me sympathy but I wasn't aware you had that bottled inside. You were one of the last people I thought could relate to me."
"I'm sure whoever they are, they're not as dangerous as the Black Arms."
"Yeah, I'm glad they're gone. But Black Doom didn't tell me much about his race. They're just monsters. Although without their blood, I would've turned out differently as it was integral to my creation. I wish the professor told me all that instead of leaving me to pick up the pieces. Have you ever tried to go back to that place?"
"Little Planet only comes one month of the whole year so I'd have to check my calendar. We'd have to go to Never Lake too. Maybe we can see the lake tomorrow. The sun's setting fast anyway." Amy said as Shadow moved his eyes away from Amy and to the sky where the dark orange was fading to dark blue and a few stars appeared.
"I suppose we should get going then." Shadow said as he and Amy started to walk away from the edge.
In the late morning Amy brought a tan sun hat and a brown travel bag that had food and a map in it. Shadow had brought his motorcycle that he and Amy rode to Never Lake. After a few hours, they stopped a couple yards in front of the lake.
"Even though it's not here, at least we get to see the lake. And the sky is a beautiful shade of blue." Amy said, looking around, walking with Shadow closer to the lake.
"It looks beautiful." Shadow quietly said, noticing the mountainous ranges that surround it and the river that is attached to it.
"I'm glad the lake isn't polluted or anything. It'd be a shame if ruined it." Amy imagined, thinking of all the machines he placed around on Little Planet.
"So you said the planet only comes once a year. Does anybody else come to see it?"
"Not that I know of. When Sonic saved me, the only other person here was ."
"Did the doctor do anything else? Neither you nor Sonic told me anything about the history of this place or that it even existed."
"I got kidnapped by Metal Sonic and heard him racing Sonic. As I said yesterday, Little Planet didn't really have many people on it. Maybe they got wiped out and that's why I was alone."
"Maybe that's why you couldn't find out anything directly.I can't really learn about my heritage now that I destroyed the Black Comet."
"At least you had a friend when you were created."
"Don't get so sad. You have me and your friends now. And there's plenty of stuff to explore on earth. I'm ultimately grateful I get to be here. Are you?"
"Of course. I just haven't talked about my childhood to anybody so this conversation reminded me of how lonely I was."
Amy took a slight pause then her eyes perked up and she smiled, then said, " I am glad to be here with you, Shadow."
