Some time later Maka awoke to her phone ringing loudly, making her head pound harder than it already was. I'm going to kill whoever is calling this early, Maka thought.
"Sweetheart, its almost 6p.m. I don't think it's really all that early per say, but if you want someone dead I'd love to help."
Soul was lounging next to her on the couch eating an apple and lazily changing the channels on the t.v. He looked like he belonged there on her couch so much that she couldn't help but to stare at him curiously.
Maka shook her head and stretched for her phone that had stopped its insistent ringing. She checked who called her and groaned.
"Ugh, it was Liz. Which means if I don't call her back right away she's going to think something happened to me or that you did something to me."
Maka gave Soul and exasperated look and threw her head down onto the couch ready to avoid talking to anyone, but of course Soul would not let her go that easy.
"So then why not call her back? Is she like the secretly in love with you and gets jealous of everyone you hang out with type? Shall I change her name to Peach in your phone?"
Maka sat up to give Soul a questioning look to which he chuckled at and grabbed her phone from her hands.
"Yes Maka we actually do get Netflix in Hell and I must say this Joe guy is amazing. I don't know why he has such bad luck with women. Hmm, oh well, just call her back before she shows up banging on your door."
Soul looked at Maka with a raised eyebrow and held her phone out to her which had Liz's number ready to dial. Without a word Maka snatched her phone from Soul's hand ignoring the goosebumps that went up her arm when their hands touched.
You have a crush on a demon. Oh Maka how the mighty have fallen. Maka thought to herself as she dialed Liz's number.
Liz answered on the second ring not giving Maka enough time to think about anything.
"ARE YOU OKAY! WE HAVEN'T HEARD FROM YOU SINCE EARLIER AND WHEN YOU DIDN'T ANSWER OUR TEXT OR MY PHONE CALL I THOUGHT THAT SOUL GUY DID SOMETHING TO YOU!"
Liz was yelling so loud that Soul could hear every single word she said and couldn't help the chuckle that he let out. Maka turned to Soul and rolled her eyes at both his and Liz's antics.
"Liz I'm fine. I was just sleeping it off. You think you'd be sleeping it off too with the way that you were drinking it up last night too. Why is it always me who seems to be the only one who gets hungover."
Maka whined into the phone and let herself fall back into the couch with her eyes closed. She sighed and listened to Liz laugh on the other end of the line.
"Oh come on Maka you're not what anyone would call a drinker so of course you would feel worse than the rest of us, light weight."
Liz was chuckling into the phone making Maka groan back at her.
"What did you want Liz? I was kind of busy sleeping the day away before you so rudely interrupted me."
Maka made sure to sound extra irritated while talking because she desperately wanted to get off the phone and back to relaxing with Soul on the couch.
Hmm, it is nice having someone around all the time and he's so warm too.
Maka didn't realize she was staring at Soul until he booped her nose with his fingers making her pout back at him.
Soul gave her a small smile before pointing at the phone which he could still hear Maka's friend Liz blabbering on and Maka wasn't even paying her any attention.
Maka gasped when she realized she hadn't been listening to a thing Liz said and cleared her throat.
"Uhm sorry Liz what?"
Liz let out an irritated sound and blew air out of her nose before saying,
"Maka did this Soul guy screw your brains out or something. I know you're hungover but come on give me my attention right now, besides he's had you all day all to himself. This is my time right here."
Maka laughed before she realized what Liz had said and let out a little squeak before vehemently denying anything happening between them.
"Liz stop it! You know that's not the case I'm just a little spacey today." Maka said while giving Soul a side eye glance.
Soul was staring at Maka with a curious look on his face, but didn't voice the question he had on the tip of his tongue.
"Maka it would be good for you to get some fun in the sheets and this guy is seriously HOT! Go and get it girl, but don't take too long because remember we're meeting here at our place again at 7. That should be enough time for a quicky."
Maka was blushing hard now and she didn't have a response for Liz other than,
"Okay we'll see you at 7. Bye Liz!"
Maka quickly hung up her phone before throwing it back onto the coffee table and sighing.
Soul ever the observant demon pulled Maka in for a side hug before standing up and turning around to face her.
"Ok Maka give me a run down on all your friends before we get there. I want to be able to pull out all the charms tonight so I need to be prepared."
Maka laughed at Soul's eagerness and sat up straighter before giving him a summary of all her friends.
"Kid has OCD so be ready for that, and Black*Star is an idiot with a big mouth so don't be surprised if he starts talking loudly about what a God he is or something like that. He's super obnoxious. Tzubaki is the sweetest girl ever and Liz and Patti are just plain crazy so be careful with them."
Soul had pulled a small notebook and pen out of thin air and had been scribbling away as Maka talked about her friends.
Maka pulled Soul's hands down so she could see what he was writing and she couldn't help the bark of a laugh that escaped her lips.
On the notebook where Maka thought Soul was writing notes for the night Soul had actually been drawing himself wearing a leash and collar with a girl who looked a lot like Maka holding the other end.
Soul gave Maka a big grin before letting out a big laugh himself. Maka couldn't believe that this dork was an Incubus, a sex demon. Like he was just as much of a dork as she was, probably more and yet here he was in his demony gloriousness.
Maka stood up and started heading to her room still laughing. Soul quickly caught up to her and gave her a questioning look.
"Where are we going now Maka? I thought we were going out with your friends, not going to sleep the rest of the day away."
"I'm going to go get dressed Soul so I can be ready for tonight. It shouldn't take me long at all to get dressed."
Soul stopped in front of Maka and opened his mouth to say something, but then stopped himself before anything could come out.
Maka raised a challenging eyebrow at him before Soul snorted and put his hands behind his head.
"Are you inviting me to watch the show?"
Soul couldn't help the laugh that escaped him at seeing Maka's face scrunch up and a blush dust her face.
"I knew you were a damn pervert! Ugh sit boy I'll be right back." Maka said while rolling her eyes.
Soul ever the good listener sat back down on the couch laughing and started to think about why he hangs off her every word.
I'm not sure why, but I really just want to go in with her. I've never felt like this for any of the others.
