Okay, no matter if my Flufftober has been an epic fail and no one here cared about my fics, I decided I'll post all of them anyway

Summary:

Missing moment from 'Balance'
From an evening together, almost like a 'normal' couple a confrontation begins, a confrontation with Killgrave that Jessica desperately needs.
Written for the 'Flufftober 2021' Prompt 12: Sleepy kisses

Notes:

IMPORTANT: if you like those stories where Killgrave is pictured 1000000 times worse than he appeared in the series, stay the hell away from my fics, especially this series... because I strongly believe in his better version (it's something I REALLY saw in him), blame me for this.

This story belongs to 'Balance' universe (so really, it doesn't make sense reading it without knowing that story and all its prequels) , but you can understand it even if my updates of that story here didn't reach the same point of the Italian one...

You know what? When I plotted this story I mostly had pictured only the final scene, which is the prompt, indeed... but those two characters created of of nothing the perfect context.
Flungst (fluff+angst) is back, with those two, especially in this what if-universe I created for them, much more serious than the 'Best Intentions...' one (by the way, check out my latest missing moment from that 'AKA Fucking Cheater, Drown in Feathers!' , it's super extra fluff and fun ) , it's just... inevitable ;)

Work Text:

AKA What Women Want

It happened again.
Killgrave had been found at Jessica's house again.
Jessica hadn't chased him away at all.

They had had sex, wildly, against Jessica's study window, with the shutters left high and the soft light flashing their silhouettes, if anyone ever lean out from the upper or lower floor to see them.

Killgrave had proposed it and Jessica had let herself be carried away by the thrill of being seen or even just glimpsed.

They had dined, this time with a more frugal pizza.

Then they had sex again, this time in a tender, slow, patient way, lying on the sofa.

This was a mode that scared Jessica even more.

-Fuck! I might as well admit to myself that he and I made sweet lo ... noooo.-

"Hey, Jess, are you there?" Kevin distracted her from her thoughts, because it so happens that now, on that same sofa, dressed as little as possible, the two were watching a movie.

Another of the things any normal couple would do.

- But we're certainly not a normal couple. We are NOT a couple. Fucking period!-

"Jess? You can also say it if you don't like the film, but I remind you that you chose to see it! "

"Uh? No, no, I'm interested in watching it and you should be as well: do you see what a beautiful power the protagonist has? He knows how to listen to women, not like you, who just command them! " the detective recovered from her thoughts, pointing to the screen.

"Well, I could order them to tell me what they think, the point is, I don't care to know." the persuader shrugged, then stretched out his arm as needed to caress her face. "There's only a woman I'm interested in knowing everything about, I can't force her to tell me anything anymore, even if she 's still an open book for me."

Jessica played aloof and pushed his hand away from her face in a bad way, but he wasn't bothered at all.

"Oh yes? And let's hear, then, what would I like now? " she challenged him.

Kevin smiled at her and picked up the bottle of scotch they had placed on the floor.

"Alcohol," he replied confidently, opening the bottle and tilting it for her to take a few sips.

Not that Kevin wanted to aggravate his beloved's drinking problems, but that dose was far from what she needed to get a hangover.

"And then you want a kiss from me, maybe it wasn't necessarily in that order," he added, pulling her to him before she had time to say anything else, tasting the alcohol straight from her lips, tongue and palate.

Jessica tried to rebel, but in truth that was what she really wanted and returned the kiss in a more than participating way.

-How the fuck is he so damn good at reading me? And even at kissing me ... oh, shit, I'm screwed!-

"Okay, okay, without strutting too much, can we get back to focusing on the movie now?" she pretended not to care about it.

He nodded, but after a few minutes he was the first to speak.

"Let's say I had his power and not mine: the first night I met you, what would I have read in you, Jessica? That you weren't interested in making my acquaintance in any way? "

Jessica realized that she had to pause the movie.

"I already told you, right? Physically I liked you at first sight, so I'd be lying if I told you I didn't like your attention. I may also have enjoyed the dinner, but certainly not what you made me do afterwards, that same night in your hotel room ... and don't start over with that fucking story that it was a five stars hotel, extra luxury and shit, it's not a matter of five stars, it's a matter of what women want And what women want is to always be aware of their decisions. " she made it clear.

"Wasn't that what you wanted?" he asked, a little skeptical about it.

"Since you have commanded it, since you have taken everything without permission, you will never know. And honestly, I'll never know either. Do you have any idea what it feels like to have your own decision-making capacity kept in a cage for months by an asshole, a torturer who too rarely gives you the keys to get out of it? "

"I don't…"

"Those streets name that I often repeat are not a fucking nursery rhyme for babies. I suffered from a fucking PTSD, and you're the main reason for it! " she let it out.

"Jessica, I'm sorry!" he yelled, surprising her twice.

One because he was usually very calm and placid, even in his coldest reactions.
One for the words he had used.

This, if nothing else, was enough to silence the girl and he took the advantage to go on, his tone now quiet again.

"I was wrong with you, I figured it out, but I wanted certain things and I didn't know if you wanted them too, I couldn't really know and I wanted it to be so, so I lived in that illusion that I've created for months, from which I woke up the night of the accident. That damn bus on the one hand destroyed my kidneys, on the other it opened my eyes. "

Killgrave paused, but then took advantage of the girl's continued silence to speak more.

"Before I was just angry with you, I felt betrayed, I wanted to make you pay, even at the cost of getting innocent people on my way, you know I've never had any problems about it." he went on, earning a glare full of spite from Jessica.

"Wait, at least let me finish. That was before, the past. In these days I figure out that I am actually grateful to you for that accident, for the disenchantment." he surprised her even further.

"Killgrave, what are you trying to tell me?" she scrutinized him, half incredulous, half suspicious.

"Remember when you talked about my subconscious? About how it understood things before me. Now I understand them too, Jessica. All this time, trying to empower myself and instead you know what's new? I'm glad I can't control you anymore. "He admitted, once and for all.

The next moment Jessica was hugging him.

"You couldn't have said a more beautiful thing," she murmured, her face buried in his neck.

"I can't turn back time, Jessica, you know, but if I could I would do everything differently, I wouldn't make certain mistakes anymore. Can you forgive me? " he hugged her more.

"I would say to go on with the film, we have put it on hiatus for a lifetime!" she promptly changed the subject and he knew he didn't have to insist.

However, Kevin was quite happy to see her lie down comfortably, with her head resting on his lap and her gaze directed at the television.

For a while they concentrated on watching the film, getting to the point where the protagonist had to hurry to save a life.

"Why would someone like Mel Gibson need to read women's minds? I'd say yes to him right away and he could read it in my face! " Jessica enjoyed displaying her appreciation.

"Oh yes?" Kevin grumbled annoyed.

"Next time we'll watch ' Lethal Weapon ', all those nice wriggling muscles…" she kept teasing him.

She couldn't see that Kevin was smiling instead, because she had said 'next time' and that nullified any possible jealousy.

"And anyway, Jess, you are wrong to think that for me it has always been just a matter of sex. I mean, if that were the case, the only thing you would have seen during those months with me would have been my bedroom. It just doesn't seem to me that things went like that, "Killgrave went on, stroking her hair.

Jessica let out a soft moan.

"I wanted you, as I want you now, in every aspect of my life. Do you remember all the beaches, the restaurants with all the typical cuisine, the museums, the shops? There was that immense stationery shop, where you wanted to spend more than half a day reading all those cards, then there was one that impressed you particularly… "

Kevin expected some answer, but only silence came.

"Jessica?"

In doubt, he leant forward, seeing that Jessica had stopped paying attention to the film and her eyes were closed.

Perhaps, having clarified certain important things with him, she had felt so light-hearted that she had fell asleep peacefully as she hadn't done for a long time.

Kevin turned off the television, as that film was almost at an end, easily predictable.

And so far nothing difficult.

He picked her up and she whined.

"I'll take you to your room, love, to your bed," he explained her intentions.

"No ..." she protested, half asleep. "Here ..."

He obeyed, returning to sit with her on his lap.

"Okay, I'll leave you here, then. I'm looking for a blanket and… " he said, trying to spread her out on the sofa, but she prevented him from separating from her, wrapping her arms around his neck, but dosing her strength, so as not to harm him.

"No. You. Here." he moaned, searching his face with his eyes closed, for a kiss she felt she needed.

-If it's a form of sleepwalking, Jess, I'm certainly not complaining.- he smiled, trying to lie down somehow on the sofa, with her on top of him.

Surely Kevin would wake up with a few cracked vertebrae, but at that moment that sofa seemed to him the most comfortable bed in the world.

THE END

Notes:

What can I say?
The movie, which also gives the title to this one shot is 'What women want', I found canon that Jessica wants to watch it, not because she likes romantic comedies, of course, but to make Kevin understand something. also found canon she appreciating that Mel og golden times and also that she loves 'Lethal Weapon' movies XD

In case you hadn't noticed the easter egg, the thing about the stationery store Killy talks about while Jess already fell asleep is about something he says to her in 2x11 'AKA Three lives and counting' and I personally find so so so sweet 3

Hope you enjoyed it, you know, with a tiny comment of kudos you can make this author immensely happy...

hugs
