Haven can hardly remember her perfect life before the games. Before she killed seven tributes in the arena. Before she was forced to watch as children she had grown close to were brutally slaughtered. Before Snow showed her the extent of what he would do when disobeyed. The only thing keeping her going was the Peacock himself. Finnick Odair.

3. That's What Kills Me

I'm worried about Haven. It's only been four games since she won, three since her father was murdered, and one since her brother. I hardly ever see her in between games. I'm forced to stay in the Capital for five months, and when I go back home to District Four, Haven is off doing her... appointments.

Countless times I have pleaded Snow to let me word double the time in the Capital in exchange for leaving Haven alone. Once I offered to move to the Capital and stay there year-round.

It's not use. Hayden is beautiful, just as much as I am handsome. Many a time Capital citizens have offered hundreds of millions to get us both at once.

I pray to all good in the world that never happens. I love Haven. But we can never be together. For the protection of our families, for our own protection. To make us do... that together would be to strip us of the last shred of dignity and to break what seems to be the only pure, untouched thing we have left.

Snow drew the line there, I thank God for that. Though I know the very last reason he did it was for our well-being, he at least did something to stop them from taking complete control over our lives.

He would prefer to keep control over our lives to himself.

In any case, I can't offer anything that will get Snow to stop forcing Haven to give her... services. The best I could get was to switch her four months to three in exchange for making my four months five.

Every night when I am home and safe in District Four, I whisper a silent apology to Haven, knowing that at that very second she was being forced to take one tiny step closer to being completely broken.

I already lost my Annie to madness. I can't lose Haven to the same.

My Haven. My love, my light, my sun. If anything were to happen to her...

Except for the horrible, horrible things Snow is making her go through, after she already had to go through the freaking HUNGER GAMES!

My heart twists in gut-wrenching agony whenever I think about what she has to do.

It's fine that its happening to me. I would to whatever, whenever, for all eternity to keep my Haven safe and protected.

But I cant protect her.

And that's what kills me.
