Songbirds: a Loud House Story

Ch. 2: The Date

(Author's note: if anyone is wondering what Jessie's voice would be like, I'm picturing her as being voiced by the voice actress for Connie from Steven universe, but in a slightly higher pitch. Her singing voice would either be done by her too or Tori Kelly.)

Lincoln Abraham Loud was getting ready for his date with a new girl he met at school. A girl named Jessie Keck. He didn't know much about other than simple things like she likes music and video games. Jessie chose the date to take place at this place called Carrie Oakley's Karaoke and Restaurant. She apparently loves that place. She was going to be at his house any minute to pick him up with her mom as her driver. Lincoln was honestly... a wreck.

Lincoln couldn't stop thinking about Jessie. He had just met her but couldn't stop thinking about how cute she was. Her red velvet colored hair that reminded him of Valentine's Day. The freckles on her cheeks that made her so very cute. Her awkward tendencies. He couldn't stop thinking of her. He was sweating profusely. I mean seriously. His pits, his forehead and his uh... big boy area, was all sweating. Luckily, he took a shower with some special shampoo Leni got him that relaxes his muscles, relaxes his mind, and smells like blackberry and vanilla. Leni, the 16-year-old ditsy blonde fashionista, picked out a fantastic outfit for him! Luxury black fedora: check! Tan suede overcoat: check! Orange button-up dress shirt: check! Swanky black jeans with a cowboy belt: check! Drakar Noir cologne: Check! Luxury black slip-on shoes complete with black socks: check to the max! Lincoln was looking great and feeling great! All's left to do is wait for Jessie in the living room.

All the Loud Sisters were gathered in the living room as Lincoln was setting some ground rules.

"All right ladies: Jessie will be here soon and I need to lay the law." Lincoln started with a serious tone.

"First rule: Do NOT crowd over her when she arrives! We already have a bad reputation for being a wild and sporadic family and I don't need a possible girlfriend to already not want to be near my family." Lincoln explained.

Lynn scoffed. "C'mon, when have we ever been so crazy nobody would want to be near us?" she asked aloud. Lincoln was about to answer, but thankfully Lucy did it for her. "When we first found out Lincoln was being bullied by Ronnie Anne, we thought it was a boy and just dragged some random kid to our house and threatened his life. He hasn't made any kind of contact with Lincoln or any of his sisters at school or anywhere else since." Lucy stated in a monotone matter-of-fact voice. "Oh. Right." Lynn remembered as she blushed and cringed in embarrassment.

"Second rule is to wait until she has questions before you start bombarding her with questions and stupid statements about marriage and having children." Lincoln said. "But we are just trying to plan your entire life for you!" Lori complained. "Did I ever say I need my life planned out?" Lincoln asked rhetorically. The sisters looked down in shame.

"Final and most important rule: be nice to her." Lincoln said in an honest tone. "You got it, Linky!" all 10 of his sisters agreed.

Outside (5:30 PM. Saturday)

Jessie's mom pulled up to the house in a candy apple red minivan. Jessie hopped out the car to go greet her soon-to-be man. She rang the doorbell... and got electrocuted. "OW! Crap!" Jessie cursed in pain.

Lori opened the door and met the girl. "Sorry about the doorbell. The wiring wasn't done properly when we replaced it. But anywho, it's like literally nice to meet you. I'm Lori. Lincoln's eldest sister. Come in, come in!" Lori led the girl in. The girl made two steps inside and saw Luna. She recognized her and got excited. "OMG! You're Luna Loud! You are like my favorite indie rock star! I honestly thought Lincoln was bluffing when he said you were his sister when we texted earlier!" Jessie said really fast as she felt like she was going to burst. Luna chuckled. "Thanks. It's always great to meet a big fan." Luna told the girl. Jessie looked at her date. She blushed SO hard she looked like a Pokémon Tamato Berry. "Dear god, you are smoking hot." she blurted. Lincoln's blushed too as his sisters silently squealed. Lincoln got a good look at Jessie. His mouth dropped.

Jessie straightened her once curly red-brown hair to a beautiful long hairdo. She put on a bit of make-up, not too much. Her mascara complimented her blue eyes, and her red lipstick did all the talking for her. She had on a golden blouse, black skirt with black leggings and ruby red heels. She also wore a small necklace that bore the cross of Catholic faith. "Wow...you look immaculate." Lincoln blurted out too. Jessie blushed furiously. If she had a tail, it'd be wagging super-fast.

The two middle-schoolers got into the car and made their way to the restaurant.

Lincoln and Jessie walked into the restaurant and were greeted by the hostess. "Hi Jessie! This your date? You got yourself a handsome one." the hostess complimented. Both kids blushed. "Y-yeah. I know. Can you show us to our table, please, Kate?" the girl asked. Kate obliged and brought them to the best seat and Jessie's spot in the restaurant. A pink and black colored booth with an elegant brown table set with napkins, and the usual dinner affair. The booth was right across the stage where all the karaoke was sung. Jessie and Lincoln sat across from each other and grabbed a menu. "What can I get you two to eat and drink?" Kate asked. "I would like my usual of the grilled pastrami and cheese sandwich, chili cheese fries and cherry-vanilla Dr. Pepper." Jessie told her politely. "Sounds like a great meal! I will have it too!" Lincoln added. 'Oh. My. God. He ordered what I ordered! He's so awesome!' Jessie thought excitedly.

As the two kids, waited for their food: the started some small talk while munching on some delicious fresh dinner rolls and honey butter (ever been to Ryan's? Just like that.)

"So, Jessie. Kind of a weird question but...why me out of every other guy in our grade?" Lincoln asked sincerely.

"Oh. Well, it's kind of hard for me to talk about honestly. But. Here it goes. I'm on the Autism Spectrum. Whenever people here that, it means I'm subjected to three things: being bullied, talked down to like someone of lesser-intellect or just being felt sorry for. But if they just got the chance to know me, then they would see that I have a lot to offer. I happen to be top of all my classes and I'm the manager for my brother's volleyball club. I'm extremely gifted at singing, and I'm great with others. And from what I have observed by watching you pour your heart out for the kindness of others... made me fall madly in love with you. So, you see (Dhar Mann, anyone), I love guys who don't judge people off a disability and guys that are really sweet.

Jessie hadn't noticed it but her mascara had started to run a bit since she began to tear up during that speech. Lincoln teared up as well. The waitress brought them their food. A different girl then the hostess. "Here's your food, you two. And don't forget, the microphone is free to use!" the waitress said to them as she walked off. "Thanks Gabby." Jessie thanked her friend. The two kids then spent the next few minutes talked about their favorite things like music genres, animals, video games, comics, TV, etc.

Once done eating, Lincoln popped the question. (No not that popped the question, they are too young for marriage.) "So... shall we sing, my dear?" Lincoln asked her. Jessie blushed. She had never sung in front of a boy she liked. Though...she did perform at pep rallies at school, but this was a smaller crowd and he's right here. She shook off her nerves and took his hand to guide him to the mic. Lincoln looked confused. "Wait, what are we singing?" the white-haired boy asked his date. "You'll see... boyfriend." Jessie assured him. "You got it...girlfriend." Lincoln confirmed. Everyone in the restaurant looked at the two kids getting ready to sing.

(Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash)

Jessie: Love is a burning thing
And it makes a fiery ring
Lincoln: Bound by wild desire
I fell into a ring of fire

Both: I fell into a burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down and the flames went higher
And it burns, burns, burns
The ring of fire, the ring of fire

I fell into a burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down and the flames went higher
And it burns, burns, burns
The ring of fire, the ring of fire

Lincoln: The taste of love is sweet
When hearts like ours meet
Jessie: I fell for you like a child
Oh, but the fire went wild

Both: I fell into a burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down and the flames went higher
And it burns, burns, burns
The ring of fire, the ring of fire

(song ends)

As the two kids held that note for a few seconds, the people in the restaurant cheered and clapped for the couple. Jessie bowed and blushed and started thanking the audience. Lincoln looked at his new girlfriend, shrugged and did it: he grabbed her by the waist and kissed her lips. Everyone cheered even louder and Jessie's mind was going full fangirl mode.

Oh yes. This was a great date.

(second author's note. I changed my mind of having the sister's interfere because I thought it would be sweeter for them to have a regular date. I do not own the loud house except my OCs and I do not own Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash.)
