Their first year together was the hardest of them all. In hindsight, it made sense when they looked back on it. Kurt was still trying to get used to all of the differences of this world and managing his longing for his world at times.

I don't really care 'bout making any plans
Leave it up in the air, give it up to chance
Seein' where it goes, seein' where it lands
I just wanna go as fast as we can

Toward the end of the winter, Blaine complained about not feeling well and made an appointment with his doctor. When Dr. Taylor uttered the words 'tumor' and 'possible cancer,' Blaine's heart dropped into his stomach momentarily before asking what the course of treatment would be. It wasn't until he didn't come to Burt's that afternoon, where he was supposed to meet Kurt, that the half-elf got concerned. He now had a phone and could call Blaine, of course. He knew, though, that if he hadn't come to the house, something must not have gone well at the doctor.

"Shouldn't Blaine be back by now?" Burt asked as they were getting their meal prepared for that night. They were having a brisket in the smoker and they'd been getting the sides ready ahead of time.

"He should," Kurt said. "I'm going to go find him."

Burt didn't ask any questions. "You can take my truck." That was something Kurt had taken to very quickly, driving. And it was freeing to not have to walk everywhere if he didn't want to. He didn't have a license, so he had to be careful where he went and only travel on the back paths, which he didn't mind at all.

Kurt and Blaine had found their spot quite by accident. Blaine had been taking him around the area, and they came to the Keweenaw Peninsula. It reminded Kurt so much of home, what with the trees and cliff and caves, and he instantly fell in love with it. They visited it often, even when the snow started coming down. It was where they shared so many firsts with each other, and Kurt somehow knew that it was where Blaine would be.

Blaine was there, his truck sitting in a clearing when Kurt pulled up. The half-elf carefully made his way down to the cave, loving how the ice had bunched up against the shore, making it look like a beautiful mosaic painting. When he saw his love, he knew something devastating must have happened. Blaine had salt tracks down his face from his tears.

"What happened?" Kurt asked after he sat down beside Blaine and threw the blanket he was carrying around them.

"Cancer," Blaine said, his voice raspy from crying and, Kurt guessed, yelling.

"I… I don't know what that means," Kurt said. "I'm guessing it's bad?"

Blaine chucked despite the somber news. "It's very bad. Basically, I have something invading my body that shouldn't be there. And the treatment is… Well, it's not pretty. And it's not guaranteed it will cure it."

"Is that all?" Kurt asked with a smile on his face.

"Isn't that enough?" Blaine asked, somewhat irritated. "I know you're not from here…" Blaine took a breath. This was something he'd been trying to work on. Sometimes, his emotions got too big and innocent questions from Kurt frustrated him.

"I'm sorry," Kurt said before Blaine could continue. "I didn't mean to make light of what you're going through. What would have been more appropriate to ask is, don't you remember who you fell in love with and what he can do?"

Blaine's head snapped up. How could he have forgotten? Besides Kurt using his powers to heal Burt when Kurt had first met him, he'd never had to use them again.

"Please?" Blaine pleaded, tears streaking down his face for an entirely different reason. "Please? I don't… Kurt, I don't want to leave you so soon after finding you. I'm not ready. We've—"

Kurt cut him off with a kiss and stopped the train of thoughts Blaine was on. He laid Blaine down on the ground gently and laid his own body on top of him. The kiss broke, Kurt touched his forehead to Blaine's, and let his love and healing energy find the disease within the love of his life and cure it. Blaine could feel the warmth of where the healing was happening, and all he could do was breathe relief. He wasn't going to die, not of this cancer, at least.

When he went back to the doctor, they called it a miracle he was healed. And whether or not people put together that both Blaine and Burt had been magically healed of their ailments, none of them ever knew.

And we could end up broke down on some back road
Lovin' in the back seat to the radio
Wouldn't be the worst scenario
'Cause all I wanna do is end up with you
Get home and we're locked out
Middle of the backyard laying down
Last thing that I'd worry 'bout
'Cause all I wanna do is end up with you
Yeah, all I wanna do is end up with you

The work on expanding the little cabin began in the spring and continued into the summer. They added on a small room that looked more like a library than anything else. Kurt would use it to read in, mostly. Though, he had taken what Burt suggested seriously and started writing stories down from his world. They were largely just ideas and memories right now. Once he had them all down, he'd go in and expand, even embellish in places, to make a book. He didn't know, when he started, how big his books would end up being. And really, for Kurt, that wasn't the point. For him, it was a way to keep his world alive forever, a way for him to share his past with not only Blaine and Burt but with the world.

Blaine wrote songs about the two of them, and some were even picked up by really big stars. They were some of their favorite songs to dance to, which they still did daily—at least once. At the end of that first year, Kurt surprised them all by asking Blaine to join with him, in all ways that they could. He explained to him that in O'a Nalore, it was customary to take that step when they were wed. This was something they'd talked about before then, and Blaine told Kurt he'd let him take the lead on that. He never wanted to push him into anything he wasn't ready for.

Kurt had been introduced to Nick and Jeff after they got engaged, and the two immediately loved Kurt, even more so because they saw how happy he made Blaine. They never knew the truth about Kurt or where he came from, which was a decision Kurt, Blaine, and Burt had all made together, feeling it was safest for the otherworldly man they both loved.

Burt officiated the ceremony that fall, right there in Kurt and Blaine's cave, with only Nick and Jeff in attendance. It was the most perfect day—well, other than the day the two had met—and that night was more indescribable than they'd ever imagined it could be.

The joining was slow and sensual. Kurt took his time preparing his husband, stretching him first with his tongue and then with his fingers before gently entering him for the first time. When Kurt bottomed out, he laid there, facing Blaine, both of them staring into each other's eyes and seeing the love, devotion, and adoration the other was projecting back at them. Kurt set up a slow cadence, almost like a dance, as he moved himself in and out of his lover's body.

By the time they were both reaching their climax—something they'd been getting better at holding off on for a while now—Kurt sped up and angled his body so he was hitting his husband's sweet spot on every inward thrust. No words needed to be spoken. They both knew what the other was thinking by the look in their eyes.

I love you. I'm so glad you found me. I'll never leave you. You are everything to me.

I love you, too. I'm thankful I drank that potion so I could find you. You are my world.

Their gasps were cut off by their mouths on each other when they reached their completion. They were both so overwhelmed with love and completeness that tears were streaking down their faces.

"You're my love," Kurt whispered.

"And you're mine," Blaine answered.

Nothing in their world at that moment in time was more important than that. That they were each other's and they always would be.

To the end of the world if you wanted to
Yeah, 'cause you could light up the dark side of the moon
Don't leave it up to me, I'll leave it up to you
'Cause I just want one thing when the night is through, yeah

A/N: The song used is "End Up with You" by Carrie Underwood.
