Chapter 5
Sasuke watched silently from his cushioned seat on the grass as Naruto continued to walk slowly up the tree they found near the academy grounds. Plans began to slowly fill his head to try and win her over.
"hey Sasuke-kun!" his old genin teammate called out to him running over with a smile on her face.
Skidding slightly to a stop Sakura beamed at him with a blush dusting her cheeks, "I got the leaf exercise done, I was wondering if you would show me this tree thing you're showing Naruto-baka. You know she'll never get it, she's the dead last after all."
Sasuke's eyes narrowed slightly at the insult. Standing up he lowered glare to Sakura and spoke with a soft but threatening tone, "I'll say this once and only once Sakura, enough. Enough with the insults and the deprecation of Naruto. She's done nothing wrong to you or any of our other classmates and yet you all put her down as if her very existence is offending your ancestors. Enough of it. I'm helping her of my own free will and desire to see her achieve. Maybe once you grow up some and actually take this seriously I'll help you. But until then, no, I will not help you or Ino. Neither of you take this seriously and I won't watch my comrades get hurt in the line of duty because you have this fantasy built up in your head."
He knew he may have been a bit harsher than she deserved now, but he couldn't watch some one else he cared for get hurt. He couldn't let Sakura go through her graduation as a fangirl. She deserves a real chance from the beginning.
"you don't mean that Sasuke-kun, she's putting you up to this! She has something on you and I'm going to find out and save you from her!" She shrieked. Did she always yell before? He wondered.
"Sakura get this through your head: I. Like. Naruto. The only thing she has on me is my genuine respect and admiration for her. I plan on marrying her, I've already planned the wedding" after saying his last piece on the topic, he turned away and walked closer to Naruto.
Sakura stood there dumb founded as Sasuke, her Sasuke, corrected Naruto on something she did wrong. She couldn't make sense of it, Sasuke seemed to like Naruto. His interactions with her seemed far more friendly and genuine than the fights they had before. Maybe they were wrong, maybe he really did want to marry Naruto-baka….
Sasuke watched Sakura walk away dejectedly, he hoped it had finally stuck that he wasn't changing his mind.
"you didn't have to stick-up for me like that. I can handle them on my own." Naruto said softly as she focused on the tree under her feet.
"I didn't have to? Am I supposed to let Sakura and any one else talk down about you? No. I was serious in my declaration before, I do lo-like you. I plan on marrying you in the future as well. You are a strong kunoichi. You may not believe me now, but I'll make you see." He gave a small smile, but judging by the look on her face he may have gone a bit over board
"you can stop at any time. I don't know if you're playing a game or if you're just some sadistic asshole, but I've had enough." She started to tear up, Sasuke felt worse than if she'd punched him using Bijuu chakra. "you can go jerk somebody else around!" she stormed off before Sasuke could even get a word out in his defense.
He was going to a miracle to prove that he wasn't playing with her. Looking dejected he walked away, missing an interested Jounin watching a distance away.
'hm….it seems the little Uchiha is interested in our little hime, Minato-sensei' a certain silver haired cyclops thought to himself
