Chapter 1: Carl's beginnings
Carl Meninger had a bright future and a lot of potential. He was born on February 23, 1994 in the community of Elmont, New York. He attended Elmont Memorial Junior-Senior High School and afterwards attended the University of Albany. Carl studied engineering and computer science when he was in college and seemed to gain a vast amount of expertise during his time at the university. His professors provided excellent tutelage. After he graduated, Carl continued to work as an engineer while still living in Elmont. He had purchased an apartment in Elmont so he could be near his family.
If Carl had to be honest, he had mixed feelings about his current way of living. Though he loved the town of Elmont and had lived there pretty much his whole life, he sometimes wanted to leave and move down to Florida. At least down there, it never snowed, and he never would have to worry about cold weather down there.
The people in Elmont were seemingly normal and stable, for the most part. Carl had gotten along well with most of his neighbors. Carl respected the authority and positions of some of his teachers. In return, the neighbors recognized the wisdom and wealth that Carl had acquired from his projects and other active involvement in the workforce. He was sure he had the wisdom and all the answers.
Carl had worked on several projects between the Long Island and Queens area. He had sometimes been near dangerous equipment, but as he was properly trained, he never really needed to worry.
Carl sighed and looked through his cell phone. He was currently off work at that moment. Sooner or later another call would come in about his job, and he would have to take care of business. Carl could only wonder what would be in store for him now.
Carl thought about his experiences in high school. Those were the glory days for him. He had served on the school's arista program and was on the honor roll during his junior and senior years of high school. Carl had been the class valedictorian and thought it truly was an honor. But Carl knew there had to be a greater purpose that he had in life. He wasn't sure what that was yet, but he hoped he would find the answers in time.
