Here is the next chapter folks! Sorry, it took a while. My old laptop broke and I had to wait to buy I new one. It's slow to write because the keyboard is extremely different.

Chapter 12- Adelaide, Everly, Julianne and Brody

Adelaide POV

"Stand up straight." A girl with extremely black hair grounded her teeth in frustration as she once again straightened her back as much as she possibly could her Aunt Lavinia prodded her to check her posture and to make sure that she wasn't slouching. Apparently, a 'proper lady' had to have great posture and be extremely graceful.

How had this even happened? How had Lavinia even been able to send in a Selection form for her? Didn't anyone else think that it was wrong that anyone of legal age could send in a form for the girls? Oh well, once the Selection began she'd just try to annoy the Prince as much as possible.

That way, he'd see that all she wanted was to be left alone? She wanted to just be able to take her pictures under her pen name of Alexandria Pope. She loved her seclusion on her ranch. She didn't need to be on TV but everyone else seemed to think differently. Everyone just had to know the Huntingdon-Rhodes family; which was one of the richest in all of Illéa. Though her family was still known to be reclusive and mysterious which only made the news outlets want to know more about them.

It was ridiculous and as soon as she had graduated from high school she had moved away and bought her own ranch away from the prying eyes of the public. She just couldn't stand it. Not after her difficult home life. After all, she had sacrificed so that her Sister, Livia or Livvy would be protected from their parents' scorn. Now though, she was being shoved back into a spotlight that she didn't even want since her Aunt Lavinia was dead set on bringing her back into society and the only way to do that was apparently through a Selection for Prince Payton.

The Prince. She really doubted he was as sweet as he appeared on the Report. There was no way he could be in her opinion. People with power usually weren't kind.

"Adelaide," Lavinia said harshly, "Don't forget that you're doing this to come back into society. Do not do anything foolish or upset the Prince."

"I won't Lavinia," Adelaide said harshly, her hazel eyes narrowing. "I doubt the Prince will keep me anyways. Not when he realizes I'm not suited to be Queen."

Lavinia's smile stretched her too-thin face and Adelaide frowned, not liking the look on her face at all. "Oh, if the Crown wants decent jewels and the continued support of one of Illéa's most wealthy family then he will keep you on."

"I doubt Prince Payton needs our family's diamonds. And we aren't a bank, we don't give the Crown money if they need it. I also know you don't support King Maxon's policies. You've always gone on and on about how you disapprove of his efforts to dissolve the caste." Adelaide said, her blue eyes narrowing on her Aunt. "More importantly, I doubt the Prince will fall in love with me."

"I never said that he should choose you as his Queen, just that he should be smart to keep you on as long as possible." Lavinia said slowly, her eyes narrowed dangerously, "I would be concerned about Prince Payton's mental health if he chose you as Queen. You are a half-horse, half-monster creature, while I want you back in society, I'm not sure if I want you as Queen. You'd shame the Huntingdon-Rhodes family somehow I'm sure."

If I am made Queen, my first order would be to deport everyone in this family but Livvy and me. Adelaide thought bitterly as she continued to let Lavinia prod and poke her. She'd go to the Prince's Selection alright, if he put one finger out of place, she'd punch him and fight anyone she'd need to. He would realize that she wasn't just any other girl.

Everly POV

A girl stared at herself in the mirror for the longest time, inspecting every single feature that she could see intensely. Light blonde hair, pale blue eyes, and rosy beige skin. She was comfortable in saying that she had nicely portioned curves all around and she had to say that her height was decent. In all aspects, she was a very good and pretty looking three, at least on the outside. On the inside, she felt very much like the dirty seven that she had used to be before him and the foster parents that adopted her.

"Everly," She looked up to see a girl with wavy warm brown hair and eyes looking at her like she was crazy. "What are you doing?"

"Nothing," Everly said, sounding a tad too defensive. "I'm just looking for as many positive traits as possible. I'm just nervous."

"Tell me about it," Her best friend, Charlotte or "Charlie," said laughing. When they had announced her name on the Report, Everly swore that her best friend was more excited than her. "But you said he's nice right? The Prince?"

Everly nodded solemnly, she had been in the Foster care system before being adopted by the Randolphs and it had been an extremely dark time in her life. At one of the lowest points about five years ago, she had run away from the foster home and met Prince Payton and he had taken the time to talk to her and listened to all her problems. Prince Payton was the first one to ever make her feel like she mattered and when they parted ways, Everly noted that they hadn't even exchanged names. She almost died of shock when she saw him on the Report, unable to believe that the first kind person to her had been the Prince of Illéa. Not soon after their meeting, Everly had been sent to the Randolph family and they somehow came to love her and adopted her as their daughter. Her meeting with the Prince had been her turning point.

Ever since that moment, Everly had loved to see him on the Report and when it had come time for his Selection, Everly had turned in her form immediately. And when she was chosen, she was on cloud nine. The only thing better would be if she fell in love with him and he fell for her. If he chose her as his Queen.

"I kinda wish I got Selected too," Charlie said, breaking her from her thoughts. But instead, Alyssa got chosen."

Everly smiled, "I'm kinda glad that you didn't," She confessed sheepishly, "I wouldn't want to compete against you Charlie, you're my best friend. The first person who was ever nice to me in school."

Charlie smiled back, "Did you know that there are best friends in this Selection?"

"Who?" Everly asked, her brows rising, she wondered silently if this Selection would ruin their friendship.

"Asteria Newsome and Eirelyn Leger. Asteria is from Clermont and Eirelyn is from Carolina." Charlie said, "I read it in the paper, and apparently their Moms were both in King Maxon's Selection. Their Moms were both in the Elites."

"Oh," Everly said, immediately wondering if that would draw Prince Payton's attention to the girls.

"But you'll win his heart, Everly, I know you will," Charlie said quickly, seeing the doubt in her pale blue eyes.

Everly smiled, "Thanks, Charlie. And I take back what I said, I wish you were with me."

Charlie grinned back, her eyes brightening, "Me too, Everly, me too."

Jules POV

"Do you think I can make my own dresses?" A girl with dark brown hair and green eyes asked, looking around at her family members curiously. "I know that we have maids but I'd like to sew some clothes too."

"I doubt it," Her eldest brother, Cooper said, giving her a strange look. "Just let them do it. Let others treat you for once Julesy."

Jules frowned, "But we know how it's like to be sixes, I don't want to make other sixes work for me."

"I doubt the Prince will want a Princess that makes her own clothes," Her younger sister by a year, Annabelle or "Annie," said rather coldly. She was somewhat bitter that her name hadn't been called instead. "He wants someone who can be a Queen."

"You told me to enter because you thought I could win," Jules said, her frown deepening as she looked at her Sister. But she did understand, Annie had always wanted to meet the Prince too.

"I do think you can," Annie said, a smile finally appearing on her face, "He'd love you. You're so beautiful and you can sing. Plus, you have green eyes. If I remember from school, statistically speaking, the green eyes are the least common eye color."

Jules' best friend, Bethany snorted, rolling her hazel eyes as she looked at Annie, "There is a shocking amount of Selected that have green eyes."

"But Julesy has the best," Annie said, "I know she can be Queen."

Jules smiled at her friends and family, they all had so much faith in her. She'd feel bad if she let them down now, "I really hope so. The Prince and I can make so much difference for the lower caste, I just know it. My Prince."

"I know I'll get on perfectly with the Prince. Do you think I can make friends with the other girls?" Jules asked, looking at her friends and family eagerly. She really didn't want any negative emotions directed her way from them.

"Maybe," Her oldest Sister, April said, a slight frown on her face. "Just don't feel down if they only see you as competition Julesy."

Jules nodded but didn't say anything else. She knew everyone thought she was a bit naive and too optimistic, but she didn't think so. She knew deep down that she was bound to make many deep and possibly long-lasting friendships.

Brody POV

"Ready for the Selection Bro?" A young man with tousled blonde hair and sea-green eyes glanced down and smirked slightly when he saw the excitement in blue eyes.

"I guess," He shrugged as he set down the snowboard that he had been polishing. He was a professional skier and the best youngest skier in all of Illéa. So he always made sure that his gear was in perfect condition, even when it was off-season. Bad gear just led to unnecessary situations. "I kinda wish I wasn't selected for Princess Sara's Selection."

"Then why'd you send in the form?" His brother, Ryder asked in confusion.

"Mom and Dad wanted me too." Brody explained, shaking his head, "I could be getting ready for the Ski season instead."

Ryder frowned, "But Mom and Dad support your career." It was true if anything his brother was his biggest fan and his parents were nothing but understanding.

"I think that's why they were so happy I was chosen, while they support me they also want me to do some other things. Even if it is to gain a Wife. You know how I can get, without meaning to I always end up putting my career over you guys. Maybe they think it'll stop if I try to have a serious relationship."

"At least you know your flaws," Ryder said, a note of sarcasm entering his voice, "What if she doesn't like you?" Ryder asked after a moment, a smile appearing on his face.

"Then I guess she doesn't and I come home and train." Brody rolled his green eyes and sighed. "Maybe the sooner she sends me home the better."

Adelaide Huntingdon-Rhodes Character Sheet:

Name: Adelaide Evangeline Huntingdon-Rhodes

Caste: 2

Age: 18

Province: Labrador

Personality: Adelaide has a dry sense of humor as well as a sense of mystery and intrigue that makes her extremely alluring and charming to others. Although the media has been publishing stories about her and her family for years, they still remain incredibly private which maintains a sort of intrigue about them. Adelaide is no exception, and she is incredibly quiet and reclusive. She is a bit cold and untrusting of others, although she never purposely hurts anyone or starts any fights. She tends to mind her own business and stick to herself. She's a bit aloof and doesn't like to talk a lot to others with the exception of her sister, Livia, but she would not tolerate seeing someone bullied/sabotaged, and is not afraid to go off and fight someone or speak her mind in those instances. The few traits she kept from her past include her headstrong and devil-may-care attitude and how she doesn't really care about what others think of her, and that she doesn't tolerate BS (and if you make the mistake of making an enemy of her, she'll roast you until you are crispier than a chicken)

Hobbies: Photography, Writing, Traveling, Learning Languages (She speaks 5 languages fluently-those languages are: English, French, Spanish, German, and Italian), Horseback Riding, Sailing

History: Known as the "Diamond Heiress", Adelaide Evangeline Huntingdon-Rhodes comes from one of Illéa's richest families, as her family practically has a monopoly on the supply of diamonds in Illéa. However, Adelaide has had a troubled life. It started with her parent's messy divorce that was covered by all the major news outlets, and a high-profile child custody case involving her and her little sister, Livia "Livvy" Adele Huntington-Rhodes (15). She was a troublesome child, and was described by her aunt Lavinia de Rousseau née Huntingdon-Rhodes (now a French Countess) as "half-horse, half-monster." She was a gifted equestrian and competed on the international level, but home troubles and misdemeanors at various schools forced her into the spotlight (she was known for sneaking alcohol into the dorms, poor grades, and generally having attitude issues), but a lot of her former problems stemmed from her home life, where she was often isolated (and she spent her entire life protecting her sister, Livia, from the worst of it), and generally feeling like many people only wanted to use her instead of truly befriending her. After graduating high school a year ago, she refused to go to university and moved out, inheritance in hand. She finally went to a therapist, and she discovered that she apparently had ADHD as well as anxiety, which had previously been undiagnosed. She decided after graduation to leave her trouble-filled life behind and purchased a small ranch in the country, where she helps raise and rehab horses and works as a nature photographer under the name Alexandria Pope. Nowadays, she's a bit more of a hermit, and rarely travels out of the countryside, but she's generally happier with her life.

Job: Heiress and Photographer (Under The Name Alexandria Pope)

Hair Color: Black (Naturally Super Curly)

Eye Color: Hazel

Skin Color: Light Brown/Caramel

Height: 5'8

Motive: Her aunt Lavinia entered her into the selection ("You need to enter high society again, and what better way to debut back into it than through the selection?") If Adelaide had her way, she would be on her ranch and feeding her horses, but life never really seems to go the way she wants it to

Other Info:

-She doesn't like wine despite owning one of the largest private collections of wine in the country (she's personally more of champagne kinda girl, and for the most part, she inherited all the wine)

-She's a vegetarian

-She was kicked out of three different boarding schools when she was younger

-Quote: "Some diamonds make girls look good. And some girls make diamonds look good."

-Quote: "My past does not define who I am today. And neither does my name."

-Quote: "You're the Huntington-Rhodes-"

"Adelaide. Just Adelaide."

-Quote: "And I would give up every last penny I have for a normal and happy childhood with a loving family."

-She is rumored to have one of the most expensive closets in the country which is filled with couture gowns and clothing (this rumor is partly true, but Adelaide does not only wear her clothing once and then throw it away like the rumors claim. She actually rewears things quite frequently, she just knows how to style it so well that all her outfits always look very new and fashionable)

-She is also rumored to eat diamonds for breakfast, but she personally prefers a slice of toast with strawberry jelly or grape jam

-She adopted two poodles from an animal shelter-one is named Minnie (short for Minerva) while the other is named Winnie (short for Winnifred).

-She is a rumored ex of an Italian Duke (whether this is true is up for debate, and Adelaide is extremely tight-lipped about her past romances, which include an English rock star, a French race car driver, and a Brazilian polo player)

-Will literally fight anyone if they tick her off

Everly Randolph Character Sheet:

Name: Everly Rose Randolph

Caste: 3 (Formerly 7)

Age: 17

Province: Atlin

Personality: Everly is described to look "innocent" and "angel-like", but the truth behind her happy smile and gentle nature is quite a different story. Everly is incredibly strong and could endure anything life throws at her with a relative amount of grace. While incredibly kind to children, she has a slightly dark and bitter sense of humor (it's her coping mechanism). She is a bit distrustful of others and wary of contact, but once her respect and loyalty is earned, you will never doubt it. She's a bit rough around the edges personality-wise, and is very observant and street-smart, and even to this day is still slightly unaccustomed to comfort and luxury, but she is incredibly appreciative of even the simplest things in life and does not take granted of anything (she loves small gestures of kindness and love-you don't need something expensive and grand to woo her, even a simple and genuine hug will win her over). She rarely complains about anything or talks about her past, but they reflect in her smallest bits of her actions (her slight flinch when become throw something in her direction or bring their hand near her face, how she never leaves even a tiny crumb on her plate uneaten during the selection (at home, she'll save it), and the slight annoyance on her face when she sees someone being incredibly ungrateful and entitled over the tiniest of things.

Hobbies:

History: Everly Rose Randolph was born Everly Rose Foster-a seven in the foster care system in Illéa. She had a rough childhood, moving from town to town and province to province, and saw everything, from abusive households, drug overdoses, prostitutes, and government brutality (abuse of power from government officials), and she never believed in happily afters, thinking that someday, she would probably end up a prostitute or pregnant out of wedlock, like most people from her part of the world. At the age of 12, she was living in Angeles, and after a particularly rough fight between her foster "parents" (more like owners, as they treated her like a slave and worked her to the bone), she went out into the night, and it was that fateful night that she met Prince Payton. He found her in tears on the street, and he sat down next to her and comforted her. She didn't know who he was at the time (she was too distracted at the time, and her foster parents made her work when the report was on), and as she cried about her problems, he just listened to her, and was the kindest anyone had ever been to her at that point of her life. She never forgot the boy who treated her with so much kindness and respect, but they parted without knowing one another's name. She connected the dots when she saw him on the report and was in awe that a prince treated her with so much decency and was genuinely a nice person, even when the cameras were off. A week after the encounter, she was moved to a home in Atlin, where she met the Randolph family (Mr. Randolph is a high school science teacher while Mrs. Randolph is a clinical psychologist. They were the family that treated her like their own child, and absolutely fell in love and adored her, and she was quickly adopted into the family. Everly loves them too, for they always respected her boundaries and loved her as if she was their own child. Thus, she finally got a stable and happy home life, and now lives a happy life and works as a kindergarten teaching assistant while preparing to become a full-fledged kindergarten teacher. But she never forgot Prince Payton's kindness towards her in one of her lowest moments, and she is hopeful that they will someday meet again

Job: Kindergarten Teaching Assistant

Hair Color: Light Blonde

Eye Color: Pale Blue

Skin Color: Rose Beige

Height: 5'5

Motive: Entered the selection in hopes of seeing Prince Payton again, and thank him for the kindness he showed her and maybe befriend and even fall in love with him.

Other Info:

-Quote: "I never believed in happily ever afters until I met him."

-She loves the color blue

-Her best friend is Charlotte "Charlie" Coveny, the niece of Mikaela Coveny, the former selected of Calgary (Charlotte's aunt competed in Maxon's selection, and she later married a famous actor). Charlotte is studying to become an architect, and she was the first person to warmly welcome Everly into her school in Atlin (predominantly upper-middle class), and Everly stood out like a sore thumb at first, but Charlotte was determined to make her feel welcome instead of giving her dirty looks like most of her classmates did at first. They are incredibly close, and Charlotte was absolutely delighted when Everly was selected and was practically bouncing off the walls in happiness for her friend.
