A while later of gathering up the populace of the underground city later, the group headed back up to Monster Town and the boarded up door.
"Anyone wanna give Balock the nine knock signal?" Hope asked.
"I got it." Kareem said as he proceeded to knock on the door, about a second away from each other. After the final knock, the metal sheet rose up, revealing Balock and the afternoon light of NYC.
"Ah, you're back!" Balock said in exuberance. "And judging by the many additional monsters with you, you succeeded in taking down Warmonger."
"Yes, although there were still some casualties, despite our best efforts." Rayleigh said.
"You did your best, I'm sure." Balock assured. "No one would have escaped that place if not for you. Monster Town is in your debt."
"Uh thanks. We really appreciate it." Theo said.
"We're just glad we were able to help." Philia said.
"So this is the surface world. Huh…" Peter said.
"Uh...there is more to it than this town." Izuku said.
"Yep. Nice sights, aren't they?" David asked.
"Before you go home, why don't we show you around Cross New York?" Hope asked. "It's a pretty nice place, all things considered."
"S-Sure." Peter agreed. "This may be the only time I'll ever get to see it, after all."
"Then let's hit the town, dudes!" Luna said.
"Luna's right. After that crazy debacle, we got the whole city to explore." Kaibara said.
"Off we go!" Oshawott said as they headed into the city and started to explore it.
(Cue: City is Ours- Big Time Rush)
The first stop on the exploration of New York City to show Peter was Times Square, the center of New York's entertainment world.
"This here is Times Square, a major center of Cross-World's entertainment industry." Scarlet said as the group walked through the crowd. "It's one of the most visited places in this world."
"You mean New York in general, no matter where it is." Hope said.
"Very true." Simon said, holding a shopping bag.
"That better be your only shopping bag. Bayonetta told me how much of a big spender she was." Hope said.
"Don't worry, it is. Just a new set of clothes after the events of the Rift Crisis Redux." Simon said.
"Well...least some of us can be a bit restrained." Rarity said holding a number of bags.
"Look who's talking." Rainbow said.
"I can never understand why you all like to shop so much." Nesma said.
"Come on, Nesma. Don't act like you haven't tried to shop for new jewelry for your dress." Sachiko said.
"Well, your group pretty much have your outfits picked out already." Valfor said.
"It all depends on taste, that's what I keep saying." David said.
"Yeah...I mean...me and most of my group rarely ever change our styles." Jexi said.
"Same here." Theo said.
"I think my case speaks for itself." Cheetah said.
"Yeah, pretty much everyone knows by now that you don't need to worry about clothing all that much." Kokichi said.
"But there is no shame in that." Miriam said.
"So interesting…" Peter said. "Such interesting magic in this place that makes pictures move and miniature suns."
"Yep. Humanity has progressed really far in the ages." Gallantmon said.
The group continued to show Peter around the city, showing him locations like Central Park, the financial District, and the connecting bridges that go everywhere in the city. To Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx and Staten Island.
"Honestly, it's always nice to see New York like this and not in shambles." Ace said.
"Yeah, during all of our journeys, we barely get a chance to unwind, so this is a rather pleasant experience." Kabuki said.
"So true. And this place really does seem at peace with all universes." Sheer said. "So rare to find places like that."
"Cross World seems to have that kinda charm to it, huh?" Hope asked.
"Yeah...surprised we don't visit more often." Jexi said.
They continued to show Peter around New York before evening soon came.
"Okay...think we've shown him all we can. So how do we do this...universal signature thing?" Pit asked.
"Well, we stopped here for a reason." Scarlet said, standing in front of a futuristic-looking building. "Welcome to the building of Universally Nixed Individuals Travel Emergency service, or U.N.I.T.E. They help people who've wound up on Cross-World by accident get back home. They pioneered the universal signature method of multiverse travel."
The members of Cross-World led the rest of the group into the building, stepping into a room not unlike a waiting room, with a reception deck in front of them and a bulletin board full of faces on the left wall.
"Hi, welcome to U.N.I.T.E." the receptionist, a young woman with shoulder-length black hair waved to the group. "How can we help you today?"
"We'd like you to help square away this guy so he can get back to his home." Kendo said, bringing Peter to the front.
"H-Hello, my name is Peter Kipling. I hail from Icewind Dale. I would be grateful to you if you could help me get back home." Peter greeted.
"Certainly, sir." the receptionist said, standing up. "Please, follow me."
The young woman led the young mage down a hall and into a back room that had a device that looked to be an MRI scanner.
"If you'll just lay on that table for a moment, we can start." the woman said as Peter did as instructed. The receptionist walked over to a screen connected to the device and typed in a few commands as the device turned on. "Don't worry, this won't hurt. Every universe has a specific frequency that it radiates, and people and objects from that universe have the frequency radiate from them. The specific world they're from alters the frequency is such a way that it's unique to that world. This machine scans the frequency coming off from you, then feeds it into a database of all worlds currently known. It'll only take a moment to find the world you're from."
"...I don't understand." Peter said.
"Yeah...so...can he go home?" Theo asked.
"To make what I just said short… yes. Once we find his matching world, we'll send him home." the woman said.
"That's great. I hope you don't mind Peter, but we're gonna be leaving in a bit. I'm sorry you got caught up in all this." Hope said.
"It's alright. Thank you for freeing me, and showing me the thrill that other worlds possess. I'll be sure to remember your exploits for years to come." Peter said.
"We're sure you will." Cobalt said.
The group left the U.N.I.T.E. building and headed back to their ship.
"One more dungeon completed. We're on a roll!" Flamberge said. "Where to next, guys?"
"So far...we've cleared half the list." Ivy said.
"Meaning we have another half to go." Riolu said.
"Should we do Adventure?" Ethox asked.
"Nah...I think I wanna save that for last." Theo said.
"If I could make a suggestion...I think we should go to the Mythos Universe next." Hera said.
"That sounds like a good idea. Heading to Mythos will be a fun experience." Hope said.
"Yeah...it would be nice to see our home." Ross said.
"Then let us not waste time." Ainz said. "We're off...to the Mythos Universe."
