She couldn't believe it. Ward was a Hydra agent. There was a time when she considered him to be a good man, with a good heart who would never betray the team. Yet here they were. Ward and Deathlock were talking on the other side of the room while she was sitting on the floor, cuffed to the far wall.

- Garrett is impatient, he wants the hard drive. You have to take care of this. Now. - Said Deathlock

- I will, just give me some time. I need to talk to her. - Said Ward

- Fine. You have ten minutes. After that we do things my way. - Said Deathlock while leaving

Ward waited for him to be out of earshot and went to Skye

- Skye, come on. Just let me explain…

- What? You want to explain to me how you betrayed the entire team? We were your family Ward, how could you do this?

- Look, we don't have enough time to do this, just trust me…

- Trust you? You want me to trust you? After everything that just happened? You have got to be kidding me…

- I know it's hard, and I want to tell you the truth, but you're in danger here, just help me and I'll get you out

- No. You know what, I'm just dying to know what this magic explanation is that's supposed to make me trust you again - Skye crossed her arms and looked at him

Ward sighed as he realized she wouldn't help him until he gave her a reason to. So he decided to tell her the truth. He looked to the door to check if Deathlock was nearby. When he saw that the coast was clear, he lowered his voice and started to explain.

- Skye, I'm not a Hydra operative. It's true that I was following Garrett, but about two months ago, i realized that if I wanted to have a future, if I wanted to… - he breathed in and looked at his feet – if I wanted to be with you… I couldn't follow him anymore.

Skye drew in a sharp breath as he said this. – So what? – she asked

- So, when we were at the Hub, I scheduled a meeting with Fury and Hill. I told them everything. How John found me in juvie and brought me in, how he was using S.H.I.E.L.D intel to help the Centipede program… they were not happy at first. Especially Hill… But they realized that for once, they were in front of the situation. So they told me to stay infiltrated and provide them with intel on what Hydra and Garrett were up to, and they gave me a second chance.

Skye contemplated what Ward was telling her. Could he be telling the truth? If true, he'd be a triple agent. Maybe it was true, maybe he was good all along… no. She shook her head and took a breath. He lied for a living, she had to focus on the facts. And right now, the only thing the knew for sure, was that he was working with Hydra.

- I don't trust you Ward. You have been lying to me, to everyone, about everything. How can I be sure this is real?

- You're right. You can't. But I'm telling you, if you don't help me, Deathlock will come back and he will hurt you. So you may not believe me and you may not trust me. But you know that i would never hurt you. So please. Help me.

She sighed. Even though Ward was bad, she knew that he wouldn't hurt her. Unlike Mike, who was being controlled by people that didn't care if she was dead or alive.

- All right- she gave in – the coordinates are not longitude ou latitude. Get the plane to 30.000 feet and I'll start the hack.

Ward looked at her like and nodded – okay – he said.

Skye went to the lab to turn on the computer as Ward went to the cockpit and corrected the altitude.

- So? – Said Deathlock as he walked in

- She's doing it. Tell Garrett and stay here. Someone has to be on the cockpit to make sure the altitude doesn't drop, if it does, Skye won't be able to complete the hack. Got it?

Deathlock nodded and sat down as Ward went downstairs

- Okay, the plane is 30.000 feet above the ground. Do it. – Said Ward

Skye started to type in and in less than 5 minutes, the hard drive was uncrypted

- Here. Just like you wanted. Now what? – Said Skye

- Now, I have to get you out of here. Can you hack into Deathlock's eye camera?

Skye eyed him suspiciously – Yeah, I probably can. Why?

- Just do it.

She hacked the transmission, as they could see his vision through the computer. He was still in the cockpit.

- Why is he in there? Asked Skye.

- He doesn't know the plane won't drop the altitude. So I told him he had to take care of it or you wouldn't be able to complete the hack

- Smart – Said Skye – and why did you need me to hack into the feed?

- Because I need you to kill the transmission

- What? Why?

- So you can get out of here. Do it. I have a plan

- Fine. – Said Skye turning to the computer once more. – Done. Now what?

Ward got out of the lab and took a parachute

- I'm sure you remember that I don't really know how to use one of these. Right?

- Well, if everything goes according to plan, you won't have to – said Ward

- And what is the plan exactly?

- Get inside Coulsons car – said Ward as he opened the door for Skye and put the parachute inside

Skye went past Ward and got inside the car

- Here. This button activates the propulsion. Just push it and wait for the car to touch the ground. Don't scratch it though, or Coulson will kill you. – said Ward with a little smile

In any another circumstance she might've smiled back at him and made some remark about Coulsons love for his car, Lola. But not this time. She looked at Ward with a serious look on her face – Why are you doing this? – she asked

- You know why. I told you the truth. It's up to you to believe it.

Did she? Did she believe what he said? On one hand, it just seemed so far fetched, like it was some excuse for her to forgive him. Although, in a world where an Asgardian god and a 100+ year old super soldier were part of a super hero team who saved the world from an alien invasion, nothing actually seemed that far fetched. Also, why would he be helping her if he was evil? Maybe she was starting to believe his version… or maybe Deathlock hit her harder than she remembered.

- Okay – said Ward getting away from the car – I'll open the ramp. When I do, turn on the car and get out.

- What about Deathlock? He'll hear it

- Well, you already took care of half the problem. Let me worry about the rest.

Ward started typing on the keyboard to open the ramp when he remembered something

- Wait. Here, take this – said Ward as he stuffed his hand on his backpocket and took out a flash drive

- What's this? – Asked Skye while taking a good look at the flash drive

- It's a way for you to access the planes interface. The cameras, the location… everything

- And why are you giving me this? – Asked Skye, confused about Wards actions

- Because this plane is headed to meet Garrett somewhere. And now that he has the intel from the hard drive, he'll be able to complete his plan. When that happens, I'll have to stop him, and I'll need help.

- The teams help? How can you ask for that after everything?

- Listen. You'll have a few days before Garrett can recreate the serum that helped you and Coulson live. So I suggest you go and talk to Hill. She'll explain things better and you can decide if you trust me enough to help me stop Garrett. – Said Ward in a rushed tone

Ward went back to the keyboard, looked and Skye and nodded as he opened the ramp. He ran to the door take out Deathlock. Skye turned on the car and started to back it out of the plane. As she did so, Deathlock appeared through the door and Ward started fighting with him. The last thing Skye saw was Deathlock stabbing Ward as the car dropped out of the plane.

- What did you do? – Said Deathlock in a deadly tone

- What I had to – said Ward
