Crow and Millium were with the rest of us on the academy field, this would be their first time doing the practical exam.
"All right, it's time for this month's thrilling practical exam." Sara said. "Is everyone ready?"
"Of course." I answered
"Ready as I'm going to be." Rean added.
"Being a first year again's been no sweat up until now, but I guess my luck's run out on combat training." Crow said. "And I can't even skip out, they won't let me graduate without it."
I frowned at him. "Are you serious Crow?"
He smirked at me. "Not as serious as you when it comes to performing."
"Geez... You're trying to make me blush or something?"
"You spend more of class asleep than awake, so you could at least put some effort into the practical exam." Alisa said.
"This is the part where we get to fight those things that look like Lammy, right?" Millium asked. "I can't wait to jump in! Hey, can we start yet? Can we? Pleeeease?"
"Would you at least make a token effort to rein in your hyperactive outbursts?" Jusis sighed.
"Haha, it's amazing how much just adding two new classmates can shake things up." Sara said. "I guess I could have you all fight the combat shell, but since we've got two new challengers this month, how about we try a little something different?"
"Something different you say...I guess we should be prepared for anything by now." I said.
"Exactly. So Rean, Levi, Crow, Millium. You're the first team."
"Wha-?" Rean look confused
"Eh?" I blink
'Well this is where I can form a combat link with Millium and Crow at least.
"The rest of you will be two groups: an all-girls team and an all-boys team." Sara continued. "Emma's team will be Team Vice Class President. Machias, your team will be Team Men. And Rean's team will be Team President."
"President?" I responded. "Wait is it because I'm the class president?"
"Yep. I was going to call you guys Team Whatever but you're the class president so I can't. Anyway, Each team will be facing off against each other in a series of mock battles."
" I have no idea how to respond to this. Still, if everyone is motivated and twice to show off. I say it's a win-win. Alright, i'm ready to roll!"
"Oooh, I like that spunk! Well then, let's get down to business, shall we? The first battle will be between Team President and Team Men. All right! Assume your positions, everyone."
We assumed our positions, drawing out our weapons and it begun. So we're going to take on Machias who is link with Jusis. And Gaius who is link with Elliot. Crow has a lot of experience. Millium has a her combat shell which pack a punch. And I'm the strongest male… oh yeah, we'll win this. But I better hold back…much.
"Say Crow. Want to form a combat link with me?" I asked
"Sure, why not." Crow answered

I formed a link with Crow as Rean formed a combat link with Millium. Rean and I buff the team and then Gaius use his craft and then follow up with Machias's craft and then Millium laser while Rean send our flame sword projection and then I got to the center and then suck the four in.
"Wha-!?" Machias exclaimed
"Whoa!" Elliot exclaimed as Team Men are pull into my Craft and then burst into the sky as they took damage and then follow up with a plunger attack and damage them again and then Crow follow up and then Millium and Rean join in the slashes. And then Elliot use his Craft to heal and then I use my Piercing Toss and then strike at all of them and then Jusis slash with Rean and I end up clashing with Gaius on the battle on who's the better spearman and then I push him back and then Crow launch an energy shot while Machias counter it with his and then cause a small explosion and then Rean use Gale and damage them and then Millium her Buster Arm craft then I pull them again with my Vortex Plunger and my team end up attacking them all and land a critical blow and then I swirl and then lance a Whirl dance against Gaius and knock him down while I dodge the upcoming bullet attack from Machias and then Millium's use Buster arm on Machias and knock him out while Crow use his craft on Jusis and Rean use his crafts and damage both Jusis and Elliot and then push both back and finally I use Piercing Throw on both of them and they were knock out.

"That's enough. The match goes to Team President!" Sara declared. "Also, I'm seeing a certain someone holding back his strength."
"Hmm. Who can that be?" I smiled looking to my left.
"Arrrrgh... Not Bad..." Machias panted.
"Hah-HA! You guys didn't stand a chance!" Millium laughed
Jusis growled. "Don't get so full of yourself."
"Whoa, whoa! Don't start breaking out the cold drinks yet. There's plenty more action in store." Instructor Sara interrupt. "Next up, Team President versus Team Vice President. We'll begin after a five-minute break."
And a few minutes have passed while I was relaxing. And soon we're going to begin our next battle against the girls. I'm only guessing here but I assumed that Laura and Fie would come down hard on us whilst Alisa and Emma assist them. The battle began.
"Hey Millium. Wanna Combat Link with me?" I asked
"Yes, Sir!" Millium cheered

We would have to soak in the attacks and wait for an opening. Like we did with the previous team. Me and Rean buff the team and then Crow shot his bullets while Laura and Fie charge. Thanks to the buffs. We're stronger and have less damage. We were blocking Laura's attack and countering against her strength with mine. Fie was shooting bullets at me but Millium protected me. Then I zoom and strike at Laura which she block and then push her back and then I got to the center and pull the girls to me and then I did the Vortex Plunger and damage them greatly and then my team did an attack on them and then Emma use her craft and shoot blades at us which we took damage but reduce. And then Alisa launched an arrow storm at us and then Rean use gale at them and Millium use her craft and highly damage the group adding with Rean's craft. And then Crow launch a strong bullet attack and then Laura and Fie did their team attack and Me and Rean block them and then Millium laser all of them following with Crow's craft. And then Me and Rean charge and I pulled them again and as the girls were pulled again. Rean use gale on them as I jump into the air as the girls receive damage from the wind and then plunger attack. Following with Crow's bullet attack. Then Laura let a powerful shockwave and push us back. And then I use piercing toss and the girls dodge and then I end up confronting Fie with speed attacks while Crow is busy trying to avoid against Laura but that failed and then I let out my own strong shockwave and push Fie back as well as Laura and then Millium did s strong craft attack on Laura and then Rean use a strong attack on Fie and knock them back. And then we turn to Emma and Alisa and then we push them back easily and then launch an attack onto Emma and Alisa who launch their attacks from a distance. I cast a Strong Arts onto them and then Millium transform her doll thing into a ball and crash the group with a small shockwave and then Rean use Gale on them. Crow with his bullets and me with my Vortex plunder on them. Making the girls on their knees.

"That's enough! Aaaaand it looks like victory for the stalward Team President!" Instructor Sara announced
"Awesome..." I panted a little. "You girls really know how to put up a fight."
"Yeah, that was a close one." Rean panted
"Whew! These Class VII gals would just take you out before they'd take you out for a night on the town, huh?" Crow asked.

We got to rest and watched the other two teams battle each other. That wrapped up the practical exam and now it was time for the field study, but Instructor Neidheart arrived and we wondered why he was here.
"Umm So what brings you here, Instructor Neithardt?" Elliot asked.
"Please tell me this isn't the part where we have to fight both of the instructors at once..." Machias sighed.
"Machias, don't jinx it!" I exclaimed
"Ahaha. Of course not. It's just that, last month's field study in the capital, your upcoming field study is also a bit... unusual. Instructor Neithardt here has been involved in making the arrangements, which is why I asked him to come." Sara answered.
Unusual? Isn't that ominous?
"Well, we'd just about wrapped things up anyway, so let's move to your field study locations."

We each got a paper and I looked for my name among the grouping.
Field Study: August
Group A: Rean, Levi, Laura, Emma, Jusis, Millium
(Study Location: Legram)
Group B: Alisa, Fie, Machias, Gaius, Elliot, Crow
(Study Location: Jurai Special Economic Zone)
After two days, reassemble at the designated location.
"Oh Legram." I remember being there. But it's been very long.
"Legram is Laura's hometown, right?" Fie asked.
"It is. It's a lakeside town in the south of the Kreuzen province, blanketed by thick fog for much of the year." Laura answered. "As a castle town dating back to the Middle Ages, it has more than its fair share of local legends and tall tales."
"It sounds like quite a historical hot spot." Emma said
"And it's been 7 years since I've been there." I added
"Heh. If i'd gone home for summer vacation, I would've returned to Trista only to turn around and head right back home again." Laura comment.
"But what about this Jurai Special Economic Zone?"
"I'm pretty sure it's a city up on the far northwestern coast of the Empire." Crow answered. "They used to be independent, but the Imperial Government runs the show there now."
"They did? Wow."
"I think Gramps annexed it about eight years ago." Millium cheered
I frown. Really, Millium? Really?
"Honestly. Do you even think about the words coming out of your mouth?" Jusis sighed
"Why? It's not like it bothers me."
"Oh boy." I sighed.
"Both locations seem worth checking out." Gaius replied. "Though that final line makes me curious. None of our field study instructions had anything like it."
"True. Usually, whenever we go, that's where we stay for the duration of the field study." Alisa nodded.
"Care to shed a little light on that, Instructor?" Rean asked.
"Haha. I could, but i wouldn't want Instructor Neithardt to feel left out, so I'll let him do the honors." Instructor Sara answered as she turn to Instructor Neithardt.
And then Instructor Neithardt explain that after completing our chosen place on our Field Study, we will head to a new location after. Garrelia Fortress in the southeast of the Empire.

Dateline, August 28th.
As soon as I left my dorm after preparing, I sense Millium was going around with excitement, Good grief with that girl. Yet it's heartwarming. I went over to near the entrance and I began to sing a few words from song I made a few weeks ago. I've been working on the Lyre.

"Good morning, Levi." A voice greeted.
That snapped me out of my focus and I turned to see Laura and Emma walking downstairs.
"Oh, morning Laura and Emma." I replied. "Guess you heard my voice."
"Of course, it's a lot better than how we got up." Emma said.
"Let me guess...Millium, right?"
They nodded and moments later, Rean came downstairs and he was sighing.
"Morning there, Rean." I said. "You look rough."
"Haha, it seems you had quite the rude awakening this morning." Laura added.
"Yeah, coffee only wishes it was that effective." Rean sighed. "She must've been looking forward to this trip."
"Heehee, it certainly seems so." Emma replied.
"She must have the energy of every kid in Erebonia." I said. "I bet she'll be the first to fall asleep when today's work is done."
"I'm looking forward to finally getting the chance to visit Laura's hometown." Rean added.
"Sorry to keep you waitin'." A voice said.
We saw Millium joining us and she was looking cheerful, Jusis on the other hand looked so well out of it.
"Can someone do something about this child?" Jusis groaned. "She's out of control."
"Okay, looks like everybody's here!" Millium said. "Let's go go goooo!"
We really are going to have a handful with her, are we?
We left the dorm and head over to the station, we were the first group to arrive and we had a look at huge train map. We would have to travel through Celdic, then change trains at Bareahard that would take us to Legram. The other group then arrived and Crow was proclaiming to be Group B how to be popular. I honestly don't know why but I doubt in his words.
We bought our tickets. Before we can board the train. We see that red hair guy again. His name is Lechter. While the talking is going on about Millium. I sense that black cat and then see her getting onto the train. Now what is Emma planning? Anyway, after that, we got on the train with me, Rean and Jusis on one side of the seats and Emma, Laura and Millium sitting on the other side.

We eventually reached our destination at Legram, we got off the train and out of the station to see the town with a large presence of fog and mist around the area.
"Legram…" I look at awe, despite the fog. "It has been so long since I been here."
"Ah yes. You mention you been here before back as a child." Laura said.
"So this is the town of mist and ancient legends." Emma said.
"I'm pleased you seem to have taken a liking to it. Unfortunately, the mist does hinder the visibility."
"Yeah, I can see that clearly. But despite all that. It truly is a beautiful town. And the water gleams so brightly underneath the fog." I smiled. Then suddenly I sense a tiny presence very close.
"Welcome home, my lady." An elderly voice greeted.
We saw an elderly man dressed in a butler outfit.
"I have returned, Klaus." Laura responded. "I see that your proficiency in the art of concealment has not diminished in my time away from home."
"Haha. On the contrary. My age has begun to get the better of me, i'm afraid. Watching you grow and mature is the only joy to an old man like me."
"Haha. Surely you jest. Can I assume that father is not coming to meet us means he's currently away from Legram?"
"I'm afraid so... He also mentioned that he was unsure when he might return."
Laura sighed. "I did expect that might be the case. Nonetheless, allow me to introduce you. Everyone, this is Klaus, the Arseid family steward." Laura introduced. "He fills in for my father in his absence and serves as acting master for the Arseid school of swordsmanship."
"The acting master?" Rean asked.
"Heh, sounds like one amazing old guy." Millium added.
"I trust you all had a pleasant trip, ladies and gentleman of Class VII?" Klaus asked. "Let me be the first to welcome you to Legram. Allow me to show you to your rooms, please follow me."
We followed Klause and Laura as we explored through the misty town, passing a small statue and then up long flight of stairs, passing a chapel, a training building and then stopping at a large mansion. We stepped inside and we were welcomed to a grand interior. Klaus showed us two rooms, one for me, Rean and Jusis and one for the girls, so it was pretty even, we also had a doorway that took us to the balcony that overlooked the ocean and a slight appearance of a castle on the far side.
"What an incredible view." Rean commented.
"Ah look at the Lake. It's so breathtaking." I smiled. Then notice something on the view. It was a castle… I remember seeing that castle. "Wait… that castle over there… is it…?"
Millium's eyes were wide open. "Woah, a castle."
"Ah, that must be Legram's famous landmark." Emma said.
"Indeed, that's Lohengrin Castle." Laura added. "During the War of the Lions, it served as the Lance Maiden's stronghold."
"Ah, that's right. I remember that place." I replied. "It's been so long since I-"
"You what?"
"Since I remember seeing it for so long." I nervous laugh. Damnit Levi! You were this close to being inside that castle before! Wait. I sense that familiar getting closer.
"A saint's castle, towering on the shore of shimmering lake." Jusis said.
"If Gaius was here, he would be wishing to put that view onto a canvas." I added.
Still… is everything in that castle alright though…
"I'm agree, but there'll be plenty of time to take in the scenery later. Right now, we need to go pick up our list of field study tasks." Laura reminded.
"Oh right."
"Are you the one who prepared our tasks for us, Klause?" Emma asked
"Actually, the assigning of your duties here has been entrusted to a professional." Klaus answered. "Head to the Bracer Guild in the town's central plaza. At the master's behest, they have taken on the responsibility of preparing all of the tasks for your field study here."
"The Bracer Guild?!" Rean asked.
"So there's one that's still going here?" I added.
"Indeed. There's been a small branch of the guild in this town for many years." Laura answered. "My family has a good relationship with the guild. They've done much for us and the town over the years."
"Then we should pay them a visit and get stuck in."
"Yeah, I'd like to get through as many of today's tasks as we can." Rean agreed.
We left the family manor and down the stairs to the middle of town where we would find the bracer guild building. We begin to learn about a few things about the Bracers guilds. I'm a bit sad because there aren't bracers guilds anywhere aside here. And then Millium just had to say something thoughtless without even realizing it. Good grief with her.
"Man, you guys sure know how to poke a guy where it hurts, don't you?" A voice asked.
In front of us was a guy
"Oh." Rean said.
"Now there's a familiar face." Emma replied
"You know this guy?" I ask
The guy smiled. "Long time no see, Laura. Sounds like Sara's keeping your nose to be the grindstone, huh? Good to meet you, ladies and gents of Class VII. Just call me Toval."

We went inside the Bracer guild and Rean and the others told us about him from the last two field study.
"Interesting. I had no idea that you'd already met some of the members of our class." Laura said. "Incidentally, Toval, The guild's standing here in Erebonia certainly seems to have shifted over the past two years."
"Heh. No doubt. Basically, every branch here in the Empire was shot down after the government started putting pressure on us." Toval answered. "Some of us found work in a different field, like Sara. Others transferred to branches outside the country. But we all agreed to get back together if we can ever resume operations in Erebonia again. Until then, we're just trying to keep a low profile, scraping out a living for ourselves."
What were the Imperial Government were thinking? Have they lost their damn mind? Or was it Osborne since Millium pointed out.
"And This branch had the viscount's approval, so we can display our sign without getting in trouble."
"So that's how it is." Rean said. "Well, it's nice to hear that the viscount seems pretty supportive of the guild."
"He seems to find much of himself in the bracers' way of life." Laura said. "Self-reliance, pride, a focus on helping others. He's long said that if he were free of other responsibilities, he would join the guild and work as a bracer himself."
Wow. Laura's father sounds like an honorable and wonderful man. It's a shame I couldn't meet him. Now I can see why the Imperial Liberation Front hate Osborne so much. How many more has he done that are bad?
"Anyways, that's how the viscount ended up asking me to sort out some tasks for your field study. Let me give those to you now." Toval handed an envelope over to us.
Rean opened it and we looked at the tasks.
"Oh, so this is how your field studies go." Millium said.
"Generally yeah." Rean replied.
"So we've gotta slay a monster out of town and see Klaus for some competition with some students at the training hall." I nodded. "Sounds like a good day of work to me."
"Should we come back tomorrow to pick up our next set of tasks, then?" Rean asked
"Yeah. I've got some more work I could use your help with." Toval nodded. "We're pretty short-handed here, so we've got a real monster of a backlog building up. I'm countin' on you to pave the way to easy street for me, okay?"
"Will do." I replied
"All right then, let's waste no time getting started." Jusis said.
We left the guild.
"May I suggest we start with the monster one, it'd be a nice warmup before we take on the students." I suggested.
"Yeah, I'm curious about what Klaus has in store for us." Rean nodded. "But we can leave that one for a while. Let's go to Ebel Highway."
We left the town and passed through a long arch, the highway was narrow and misty just like in the town. Although the level of fog here was a bit more present than from the town.

"I bet we're gonna be ambushed a few times." I said. "We need to stay diligent."
I wish I can use my magic to defog this.
"We'll also need to pay extra attention to our surroundings to make sure that we don't become lost." Emma added.
"That would be wise." Jusis nodded. "And don't forget, there's no telling when some beast may try to jump out at us."
"Well, what are we waiting for?" Millium asked. "Let's goooooo!"
We walked along the highway, being careful to not get ourselves caught by the monsters that were roaming off the highway road. We passed through the next area of the highway and then up a green hill to a flat area. There was a big monster near the edge, it sure looked like a crocodile, but a bit more thick around the body.
"That must be the monster we were sent out here to defeat." Emma said.
"It looks like it matches the description, but it's hard to tell with all this mist." Rean pointed out
"Ooooh, it looks really strong." Millium added. "But we've got Lammy on our side, so this should be a piece of cake!"
"I wouldn't be so sure." Jusis lightly warned. "Visibility is quite poor here. We can't take anything for granted."
"I agree. We should be thoroughly prepared before we engage it." Laura nodded
"I'm ready when you guys are." I said, drawing out my Glaive. "Let's dance!"
The battle began and due to the six of us being able to form into three pairs of combat links. The monsters been doing a lot of jaw attacks onto us. And with my strength and Laura's. We made short work of the giant crocodile monster.
"Welp! That takes care of that." Millium said.
"Heh. Not bad for your first monster extermination." Jusis added.
"The monster truly is frightening with it's jaws." I sighed. Then notice the mist begin to clear up a little. "Huh. The fog begin to clear up a little. Still, we better hurry it back to Legram and report this in."
"Yeah, let's head back to town." Rean nodded.

We traveled back to the town and into the guild to report to Toval, one task done, one more to do. We walked up the stairs and to the training hall, we entered inside and then into the huge hall where we saw Klaus who bowed when he saw us.
"I've been eagerly awaiting your arrival." Klaus said. "I see you were able to begin your field study without incident."
"It was no trouble for us." I replied. "So could you give us the explanation on what we're doing here for?"
"My request is merely this. I would like you to engage in a training bout with the students of the Arseid school."
"That's what it says in the request's description..." Rean replied
"Sounds like fun so I'm game." I smirked
"But are you sure we'd provide enough of a challenge?" Emma asked.
"Oh, I'm certain of it. By my assessment, you are all more capable than combatants." Klaus answered. "A swordsman of the famed Eight Leaves One Blade school, an adept in court fencing, we're even curious to learn about the mysterious yet virtuous Glaive style. You each seem to handle your weapons with the poise only born of many battles, the young lady included."
"You can tell all of that just by looking at us?" Rean asked.
"B-But you've never even seen us fight..." Emma added
"That's rather impressive eye." I replied
"It's like he can even tell that Lammy's here." Millium cheered
Yeah I don't think so Millium.
"Well, I have mentioned all of you in my letters to home." Laura answered. "Though I expect Klause could easily have deduced that much nonetheless."
"He makes a strong case for his position as acting master of the Aeseid school, at the very least." Jusis added
"Haha. I'm flattered." Klaus chuckled. "All of these training here right now are at the beginner level. I believe you'll be an appropriate match for each other, in terms of skill."
"It sounds like the kind of hand-on lesson even a Thors education can't buy." Rean replied. "Very well. We'd be happy to accept."
"You have my thanks. If it's all right with you, I'd like to begin right away."
"Yeah, we can begin now."
"Then please take your place on the stage in center of the hall."

Rean stood on the training floor area and me, Jusis and Emma joined with him whilst Laura and Millium watched. We were facing off against a team of four students with the same swords. The training bout began and we clash with the Arseid school students. We clash and strike as I swirl my Galive and perform a nice dodge cork as I counter-attack. The Arseid students clearly are hard-working students. I respect their efforts and their time practicing their skills. I'm having a blast. In the end, we were able to overcome the students and we won in the end.
"My goodness… that was certainly a well earn experience." I smiled. "Gave us a corner on the edges."
"It was an excellent battle." Laura said. "I see you've all been diligent in your training while I've been away."
"Boooo." Millium added.
"What now, Millium?"
"I wanna fight too!" Millium then brought out Lammy.
"Oh my..." Klaus's eyes were blinking.
"Oh boy…" I sweatdrop
"Honestly, are you even capable of just sitting for five minutes?" Jusis asked.
"But just sitting here watching you guys fight is so boooooring." Millium answered. "I'm ready to jump in! Come on! You don't just wanna sit on the sidelines either, right, Laura?"
"Well, I don't suppose I can deny that." Laura replied.
"You, too, huh?" Rean sweatdrop.
I couldn't help but laugh. Oh what are we going to do with you Millium.
"Hohoho. Well, if that's the case, allow me to serve as your opponent instead." Klaus said as he drew out a rapier.
We were surprised to hear that, but he seemed willing so we agreed. I can sense he's one tough old man. I better hold back a little. We battled against him and the battle took a little longer then expected But we managed to won in the end. He's one hell of a strong old man. Not as much as my Master. I still have much to learn before i can fully master my weapon. We beat him...but only just barely.
"Hoho. Gracious me! What a thrilling battle." Klause chuckled. "And your silver puppet was more challenging an opponent than I had anticipated, young lady."
"Well, there aren't many people out there who can handle Lammy's swings as well as you did." Millium replied. "And the Radiant Blademaster is supposed to be on a whole different level. It sure is a big world out there!"
That's certainly true. We only know the small part of the world.
"I must say, Master Levi. Your skills with the Glaive are truly extraordinary. Almost like you were dancing in the passion of fire."
"That's a praised I wasn't expecting." I scratch my cheeks. "But you honor me, Klause."
"Incidentally, Master Rean. It was an honor to see the skills of the practitioner of the Eight Leaves One Blade style firsthand. However, I couldn't help but sense you holding something back. That applies to you as well, Master Levi. However, unlike Master Rean, you appear to have control over it while holding back your strength."
"Wow. But I'm not surprised." I sighed. I knew Rean was holding back but what exactly? I'm sure Laura notice it too. "Truth be told. I am a lot stronger than my classmates. Even Laura herself. If I were to unleash my full strength on you. It would draw too much attention. I have been through very strict and intense training. It would seem very rare for someone of age like me to show impressive strength. So I can't use my full strength unless it's necessary."
"Ah, so that is your reason. And to you, Master Rean?"
"I..." Rean look away and look nervous.
While Laura and I knew. I can tell he hesitated. Almost like he's afraid. Well Klause leave it off for that. Nevertheless, we did what was asked so our task was complete.

It was the late afternoon already and most of the mist wasn't around the town, But I also notice since coming here that there was something strange going on in that castle. I'll investigate another time. So we went back to the guild to start writing our reports, but we saw an unknown person that was with Toval. He had short blue hair and a long blue coat.

"Father?!" Laura exclaimed. "When did you get back? When only Klause came to greet us, I assumed I wouldn't be seeing you while I was in Legram."
"Fortunately, I was able to take some time away from my engagements to see you and your class." The man replied. "And while I was in town, I also had some business to attend to with the guild, which is what brings me here." He then hugged Laura. "It does my heart good to see you again, Laura. It seems you've grown since I last saw you."
"F-father, please don't treat me like a child." She replied before hugging back. "But, it's good to be back."
He introduced himself as Viscount Arseid, the ruling lord of Legram and Laura's father. Wow. I can certainly sense how strong Laura's father is. After we had written our reports at the guild, we were treated to a classy dinner at the family manor. The food is delicious! Ah, exploring different cuisine is so wonderful!
"Rean, was it? I'm curious. I can sense fear in your swordsmanship. A certain… hesitation." Victor said
"Wha…" Rean look surprised
Yeah, I notice he was hesitating for a very long time now.
"Father?" Laura asked
"The Sword Hermit, Yun Ka-fai… In addiction to being your master and founder of the Eight Leaves One Blade school… He's also a personal acquaintance of mine. In fact, I've requested a duel with him on numerous occasions." Victor smiled
"I see… if you'll forgive me for asking, who was the victor?" Rean asked.
"Haha. The victor has yet to decided. Pitting our respective philosophies against one another is such an engaging experience, we always lose track of time." Victor answered
"To think there's a swordsman out there capable of fighting on equal terms with you… the world truly is a vast place…" Laura said
It probably is. I know so little about the world. I only learn because of book.
"I can hardly imagine what a duel like that would be like." Rean chuckled
"Haha. But getting back to what I was saying… The Eight Leaves One Blade school draws its influence from elements of several other Eastern schools of swordsmanship. The style's philosophy has such depth, it's not difficult to see why one who masers it is known as a 'Divine Blade' But there's something about you, Rean. Something that terrifies you so much that its mere shadow pins you in place." Victor said
A shadow pin him in place? Wait… does this have something to do with that dark presence within him when we first met?
"You have me at a loss. I never would've imagined you'd be able to tell so much about me so easily. But thanks to that, I've made up my mind. My lord… I ask of you, as the Radiant Blademaster. Would you grant me the honor of a duel?"
Well, that was a surprise. Even Laura was too. Laura did protest, not that I blame her. But the Viscount agreed after dinner. Soon We went back to the Arseid school and Rean and the Viscount begin their friendly fight.

Their battle began just as Viscount drew out a great sword that looked really cool. Then I felt Rean and the Viscount aura. And then they both clash. Yep. Sorry for saying this Rean, but you're definitely going to lose. And as I expected. Rean tried his best, but he was overwhelmed quite easily against the Radiant Blademaster.
"Ouch…" Millium commented.
Laura sighed. "This is why I tried to stop them."
"I could barely see what happen." Emma replied.
"Well, Rean isn't weak, but..." I sighed.
"It's more that his opponent's strength is so far beyond his." Jusis replied
"What are you doing? This duel is not yet over. To your feet, at once." The Viscount said.
"Father!?" Laura exclaimed
Rean got back up and he clutched his heart.
"I know you're capable of more than this. But if you're still too afraid to assert your true strength... then I have no choice but to force your hand." Then he raised his sword high. "Now, show me!"
And that got- huh? After one slash. He suddenly vanished. No, wait... I see someone surrounded by reddish-black aura near the viscount and launch some slash but the Viscount dodge easily.
Is that... Rean!? His hair was now silver and he had red eyes too. I suddenly sense a stronger and dangerous darkness coming within Rean. An unholy power… full of corruption, malice, negative emotions. It was the opposite of my power... This is… THIS is what I sense within Rean?!
"Wha-?!" I exclaimed as I eye widen.
"Whoooa!" Millium added.
"Is this what Rean is afraid of?" Laura asked.
Rean and Viscount resumed their battle and I found myself shocked at how much Rean was overflowing with such power. But in the end, despite Rean's improved strength, he still lost against Viscount and the battle was over before Rean turned back.
We rushed over to him.
"Wow, that duel was craaaazy." Millium said.
"So that's why you've been holding back." I sighed. 'This is what he fears… THIS is why he was holding back. He has no control over it.'
"You fool, Were you shouldering such a burden alone all this time?" Jusis asked.
"Father, there was no need to go that far!" Laura exclaimed.

"I'm fine, he held back." Rean replied. "I admit defeat. I'm honored to have seen the Radiant Blademaster's signature technique."
"Haha, I think you're finally starting to understand." Viscount said. "What we call power is simply a measure of one's raw strength. Without knowing how to properly apply it, it has no real meaning. However, when you deny the power you already possess, you're only shortchanging yourself."
He's right. I'm not afraid to use the power I possess… because… I'm someone 'special'… as Master told me.
"You're right." Rean nodded. "I feel like I finally get what my master was trying to teach me about the laws of nature. But...I'm afraid understanding that is only going to make me even more uncertain."
"That's nothing to be ashamed of." Viscount held his hand to Rean. "Stand up, dust yourself off, and step forward. Grapple with that fear each day if that's what it takes. Uncertainty weighs on the hearts of all people, but it's far preferable to standing still."
His words speak the truth. The power, magic I possess… it is out of the common knowledge of this world.
"I can sense you holding your true powers back as well, Levi." He looked at me. "However, Unlike Rean. You have the full grasp of that power. And that power is somewhat radiant."
I was surprised. He was able to sense it… even if I suppress it?
"Oh. I'm not so sure what you mean Viscount." I nervous laugh as I lie.
"There is no need to lie."
I sigh. I can't anything from him. No wonder he has earn his title well. He truly is no ordinary swordsman.
"I'm honestly surprised. I wasn't expecting anyone to have notice while I suppress it. You're right. Unlike Rean. I have full control of my power. And because of it… as well as my training. I was able to sense his power when we first met."
"What?" Rean look at me surprised.
"But after seeing Rean's true power, I can understand why he was holding back. From what I see… he doesn't have complete control over it. He fears that power will overwhelm his mind… becoming a beast."
"Levi…"
"I see." He nodded. "I take it it's also the reason why you were holding back your true strength because your presence overwhelm your classmates?"
"It seems I can't anything from you." I nervous laugh.
"Then there is no need to go further. It's understanding you wish to be equal to your classmates. Quite virtuous. Why don't we return to the mansion."
I nodded and we left the training hall, going back to the mansion, it was time to sleep well for the next day.
"Um, Levi." Rean called out to me as he is walking with him.
"Yes, Rean?" I look at him and ask. I think I know what is he going to ask.
"What does the Viscount mean that you were also holding your power back? And how exactly strong, are you? And if you sense it from the first day we met…"
Yep I knew it. Well… I can't exactly answer just yet. Not especially with Emma. And so I place my arm around him and pull him closer to whisper in his ear.
"All in due time Rean." I whisper in his ear. "I'm not so sure the power level I'm in, but it's above what average person of my age. Sorry to keep things secret from you and the rest of the class. But I have my reasons like you have. But let me tell you this though. You're not along with the mysterious power that is deep within yourself. And if you lose control of yourself because of that power. I will be the one to rescue you." And then I let go of him and wink at him and start moving faster. 'Yeah… I will save you from that, Rean… now…' I gleam my eyes to Emma. And then to the castle. 'Those two is what concerns me.'

I was pretending to be asleep. I begin to check on my roommates. After seeing Rean and Jusis fall asleep, I sneak fully got out of bed and lightly opened the door before walking out to the balcony. The mist was almost completely gone and I could now see the castle in the distance much more clearly.
'Hamsuke, Luka.' I telepathy my familiar.
'Yes master?' Both telepathy from my shadow and appeared to me.
'Luka. Watch the boys. And Hamsuke. Watch Emma. But hide your presence. I'm going to see what's going on in the Saint's castle.'
'Understood.' They both nodded and enter the room. I then cast a spell and open a hole. I pull out a cloak and put it on to hide my face and appearance. And then jump off the balcony. Hoping no one see me. As I use my stealth. I begin to head into the lake and then walk on the water and advance to the Saint's castle. While I was getting close.
'Master!' Hamsuke called out.
'What is it Hamsuke?'
'You want to hear this!'
I then use the spell called Share Sensation on Hamsuke and then I stop and see and hear what he is hearing. There he was hiding behind the door to the balcony which is slightly open for his size to slide and then hide behind the barrels.
"Well? What do you think?" a high-pitched voice asked. "I'm not sure how much we can count on the boy."
'That doesn't sound like Emma… Is it her familiar?' I asked telepathy.
'Yes. That cat name Celine.' Hamsuke answered through telepathy
"That's not for us to decide…" Emma sighed. "Our role is to watch over and guide him, nothing more. I don't want you to do anything like that ever again."
They were talking about what happen to Elise that day… it wasn't Emma's doing but her familiar?
"Fine, fine…" the other voice said. "Setting that aside for now, I'm sure you've already sensed it, but there's definitely something inside that castle."
Ah…the Saint's castle.
"That place is out of our jurisdiction, but...I have a bad feeling about this one."
"Me, too. I suppose all we can do is point Laura toward it and hope she notices, too. And…"
"Yes, there's the matter of him." I heard the cat-like hiss added to that word. "As we discuss like before; He's clearly no ordinary person. He was extremely cautious with me. He detected my presence a few times already on his Old schoolhouse investigation. And he even notice I was in the ceiling, giving the that glare. But it's not just that. I sense and witness him using magic during that battle on that headless Knight."
"Yes… it wasn't just that. He also knew about the part on history. It was raining when Dreichels came to liberate Heimdallr, but when he set foot into the capital, the rain stopped. It was never mention that part in the history books but…"
"You're right. It wouldn't. And yet he knows it. There is something else he's hiding as well."
"Yes. I believe he is similar to Rean." Emma nodded
"What do you mean?"
"The Viscount notice that Levi was holding back his true power. However, he notice that power was somewhat Radiant. It wasn't just the Viscount. But the chancellor as well. They both pinned that he possess some sort of special ability. While we both sense that he possesses a magical affinity. And Levi respond that he even sense Rean's power from the moment they met. And that Levi has full control over his own power… whatever that might be."
Celine sighed. "He just brings more suspicion to himself. Still… despite all that. It seems he is the most chosen candidate for an Awakener in my guess… At least we managed to found out something about him today. However, what he is is still a mystery."
Emma nodded "Right. Though perhaps it's most likely thanks to the Viscount."
"Perhaps. The only few things we know about him is that he was founded in Nord and spent the rest of his life in isolation from the world. This 'grandfather' of his is the one who raised him. And obviously, he learned everything from him. However, can we rule out this 'grandfather' was the one who taught him magic."
"It's possible. All we know that his adopted grandfather was the one who raise him. It's possible that he's a wizard from ancient times."
"I guess that's true. If he is a wizard from ancient time. it would explain everything. However, from which group? And how does he know of some history of Erebonia. No one from our clan knows the truth. Do you think Levi knows the truth?"
"To be honest. I think he goes. But I can't say for sure. Levi is powerful. Far powerful than Laura as he confirmed. His senses are sharper, and whatever power he holds is still unknown. Not to mention the magic he can wield. There are still things we need to know for certain."
"Right. Continue to look into him."
"Right. Hmm? Wait. What's that?" Emma turn to her to the castle's direction.
"Hmm?"
Emma then gasp.
"What the- someone standing on the water! Near the Saint's castle!"
Oh great… they spotted me.
'Master, what are you going to do?' Hamsuke telepathy asked
'Don't worry. I'll handle this.' I respond and undo the share sensation. Once I did. I turn around. Then cast a spell. I created a barrier and sound proof around the Balcony and behind it was the entire Arseid mansion so that no one would be awake. And then I cast use my magic and mold it into a magic Bow and then ready to aim with ice magic and then shoot it. I was a warning shot to shoot near Emma and whoever's that was hiding in the shadow. And then I begin to ran into the Saint's castle. Once I arrived. I use Share Sensation.
"Emma! Are you alright!?"
"I… I'm fine…" Then Emma got up and then look back. And see the ice disappeared as well as a barrier and sound barrier. "A Magic barrier?"
"And a sound barrier… It look like whoever that was went inside the Saint's castle."
"Do you think they might-"
"It's possible… and it seem they notice us from a distance. It's too dangerous for you to be here."
"R-Right."
Emma went inside while the voice disappeared.
'That takes care of that. But sadly I don't have time to investigate the castle… I was careless.' I muttered. 'I better return. And then deal with Emma. I think I let her investigate too much.'
