Jounouchi Katsuya made his way home from detention. Unfortunately, it wasn't an uncommon occurrence given his new identity and prior proclivities. Though he'd been ending up in detention far more for things out of his control recently, admittedly, he probably shouldn't have been fiddling with Tony Stark's old glasses.
Making his way through the streets of Domino City, he prepared for another average school night of homework and Spiderman duties. Yugi would be over later to work on their history project. He was the only one other than Honda to know of his identity, Jounouchi needing to entrust him after he'd discovered his identity a few months ago by mistake. Otherwise, Jounouchi had done a surprisingly good job of keeping his identity under wraps.
Jounouchi marveled often at the responsibility he'd found himself carrying after awakening to his powers. He was a strongminded and outspoken person, so the new powers had been hard for him to keep to himself at first. But he'd realized the importance of keeping them concealed for his own protection and that of his loved one's. He'd make sure nothing happened to his friends and unknowing younger sister, Shizuka as well as his absentee father.
Speaking of whom, his father would not be home for some time, likely out gambling and drinking already. That gave Jounouchi a chance to stretch his muscles and take a few swings around the neighborhood while he waited for Yugi.
Refilling his web cartridges and donning his spiderman suit, Jounouchi leapt up on to the windowsill to ascend the old apartment building, and go in search of a better view.
He found that Kaiba Corporation had an unparalleled panorama. And with the skyline glowing golden as it was today, it'd be an especially gorgeous one.
He made his way from building to building, keeping an eye out for any trouble, when he noticed a commotion around the Kaiba Corp entrance. Before he had a chance to figure out what was happening, he heard a panel of glass shatter on the highest floor. Something was not alright.
Making his way to the scene high above, he peered into the shattered exterior and found Kaiba Seto held at gunpoint. Kaiba Seto, in an uncharacteristic show of submission, had his hands up but his expression seemed anything but. Negotiations did not seem like they were going well.
The gunman had already fired a shot previously shattering the glass, likely missing the CEO. It was time for some more drastic measures.
Jounouchi inched forward, trying not to make his presence known, and shot out web from his cartridge, encircling the gunman's legs, the large, fellow blonde began to lose his balance, falling to the ground and nearly losing his grip on the gun in the process. But it wasn't enough.
So Jounouchi did the next best thing. He swung in and grabbed Kaiba Seto, potato sack style over his shoulder as the man was quite tall. And was back out just missing the shot the gunman fired, likely in his terror and rage at having lost his target and the newcomers appearance.
Kaiba Seto, not unlike others he'd saved, went willingly, having some knowledge of Spider Man, but he was surprised at how quiet the brunette was for once, and he could swear he heard an inhalation that sounded suspiciously like awe, likely at the view below.
Having decided the roof was the best option for the time being, Jounouchi deposited Kaiba gently on the rooftop, and waited for the other man to get his bearings.
Kaiba looked stricken, likely from the ordeal, as they'd flown together before during Battle City, it couldn't be the heights. So, he was again surprised to hear the handsome brunette not break from their usual banter and proclaim:
"I had it under control."
"Not from where I was standing." Jounouchi retorted.
"We have training for this sort of thing," Kaiba pushed back.
"Well, I'll be sure to hang around and watch you get shot next time." Jounouchi returned.
Kaiba still looking displeased, uncrossed his arms and turned to take in the view surrounding them. The bastard had nerve.
"Could I get another lift. The buildings probably a mess?" Kaiba finally said. Jounouchi barely heard, the CEO likely not accustomed to asking favors.
"You got it; do you want to see something before we get you down from here?" Jounouch asked.
And before Kaiba could even finish responding, Jounouchi swept him into his arms bride style and swung up to the tiptop of the Kaiba Corporation building, just in time for sunset.
And now, the awe on Kaiba's face was visible for him to see, unbridled by life threatening danger.
"Pretty, isn't it?" Jounouchi whispered.
And Kaiba found himself nodding in response, eyes transfixed on the beautiful skyline as the sun slowly lit up the city in the days final blaze of glory.
"Aren't you glad I saved your butt now?" Jounouchi said, laughing slightly.
At that, Kaiba tensed before relaxing again into Jounouchi's arms.
"It was worth it," he finally responded, a softer look now overtaking his features.
"Maybe I'll have to swing by more often, make sure you're not getting bullied by any more gunmen or drowning in your quarterly reports." Jounouchi offered, "What did he want anyway?"
"He wanted me to honor a deal my stepfather had made, for weaponry. But Kaiba Corp is into gaming now ever since… I took control." Kaiba answered.
"I remember reading about that, the way he died," Jounouchi began, "These old men, they must bring back memories of him. I can't confirm, but I heard he was a real menace."
"You are correct, he was a menace. Today, the glass, when it shattered… I remembered the way he leapt, and I thought, I thought I'd have to do that too if my plan didn't work." Kaiba said softly. "Thank you," he continued, "I'm glad I didn't have to go out like him."
"Anytime. I'm glad your safe, Kaiba." Jounouchi smiled.
"Not bad at all, for you, Jounouchi," Kaiba answered.
"What?! How did you know it was me?!" Jounouchi spluttered, almost loosening his grip on Kaiba with surprise.
"You think I wouldn't recognize your voice?" Kaiba drawled, likely pleased he'd caught the great Spider-Man off guard.
And Jounouchi had to chuckle, but then he became serious.
"Kaiba, you need to keep this to yourself, okay, it's for your and Mokuba's safety too," Jounouchi pressed.
"That's not a problem, no one would believe me anyway... Jounouchi Katsuya's Spider-Man." Kaiba responded, teasingly.
"Kaiba!" Jounouchi exclaimed, turning to look straight at Kaiba who's head was on his left, and Kaiba looked back, mere inches away. "I'll show you what I'm capable of."
"I look forward to it." Kaiba said, and there was no hint of sarcasm, just a genuine smile.
And Jounouchi knew this wouldn't be the last they'd see of each other as he swung down from the heights of Kaiba Corporation back down to the bustling streets of Domino City where Kaiba's frenzied security awaited.
