January 29th 2022 – St Louis, Missouri

Cole: Tonight is the night where history will be made live here at The Dome at America Centre here in St Louis, Missouri. I'm Michael Cole alongside Pat McAfee welcoming you all to the 2022 Royal Rumble.

McAfee: I am feeling pumped for tonight Michael. This is my first Royal Rumble and you are right as history will be made as 30 men and 30 women each compete in their respective Royal Rumble matches to earn themselves the opportunity to add their names to an illustrious list of Royal Rumble winners and also earn themselves a first class ticket to Dallas and headline Wrestlemania.

Cole: And what better way to kick off this night than with the Universal Championship as the longest reigning Unviversal Champion; The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns defends against his former Shield Brother Seth "Freakin" Rollins. Will Roman's 517 day reign continue or will Seth "Burn it down"?

Roman Reigns theme song began to play as a chorus of boos echoed throughout the arena and Roman Reigns walked towards the ring alone.

Cole: For the first time in a long time Roman Reigns walks alone. No Paul Heyman, No Uso's the only company he has is the title belt that is on his shoulder right now.

McAfee: But can Reigns find a way to retain the Universal Championship on his own against a man that he hasn't beaten one-on-one? That's the question Michael.

Cole: As I said earlier Roman Reigns walks out to the ring alone as he has fired Paul Heyman and due to the Uso's losing a tag team match against Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens they are banned from ringside and including the mind games that Seth has played with Roman over the last few weeks. I'd believe that the odds against Roman Reigns retaining his championship are growing as we speak.

Roman Reigns stood in the ring waiting for Seth Rollins to make his entrance.

"Sierra, Hotel, India, Echo, Lima, Delta. S.H.I.E.L.D"

Roman Reigns became really irritated as the crowd erupted to the theme song of The Shield as Seth Rollins entered through the crowd wearing his old Shield gear.

McAfee: Listen to this crowd they're on their feet for Seth Rollins, the mind games with Roman Reigns has just escalated and Seth has pulled out all the stops for this match

Cole: And lets not forget that last year Seth Rollins was irritated that he never got his match for the Universal Championship while he was a Smackdown superstar. Also this is Seth Rollins first match contending for the Universal Championship ever since he lost it at Crown Jewel 3 years ago to which he was a Raw Superstar and he lost it to a Smackdown superstar making the title switch brands. How ironic would it be if Seth Rollins brings the Universal Championship back to Raw tonight.

McAfee: What is the psyche of Roman Reigns now as he stands face to face with his former Shield brother. I think that we are going to be in for an epic contest.

After the ring announcer introduced the two competitors the match was underway. This match pretty much plays out the same for most of the match, but I have changed the ending for the match.

Here is how I thought the match should have ended:

After Reigns hit Rollins with a spear he crawled slowly towards Rollins but then Rollins held his fist forward.

McAfee: Oh my Rollins is doing the sign of the Shield. Is this some more mind games on behalf of Seth Rollins?

Cole: And look at the look on Roman Reigns face he is both confused and annoyed at the same time.

"I acknowledge you Roman!" yelled Seth

Cole: Did Seth just say what I think he said?

"Come on Roman I acknowledge you!" yelled Seth once again as he still held his fist forward

Roman Reigns began to look at his fist.

McAfee: Roman Reigns is actually thinking about this.

Roman Reigns began to reach his fist in, but Seth Rollins pulled in Roman Reigns arm and locked him into a submission move.

Cole: Hells Gate! Hells Gate! Shades of The Undertaker. The master of mind games

Roman Reigns looked like he was beginning to fade but he punched his fist on the ground and began to lift Seth Rollins up of the ground and reversed the Hells Gate into a powerbomb. Roman the walked over to the corner with rage in his eyes.

McAfee: I have to give Seth Rollins credit; he used a different tactic with psychological warfare and using moves he hasn't ever used but now it looks like his time is up.

Roman Reigns waited for Seth to get up and turn around. Roman then ran in to attempt a Spear but Seth side stepped it and Roman ended up Spearing the referee. This made Roman Reigns get pissed off.

Cole: This could be Seth's moment to take advantage… Oh! A low blow by Roman Reigns.

McAfee: Haven't seen Roman Reigns use that for a while.

Cole: Roman Reigns will do anything in order to make sure that his record setting reign continues

Roman reigns then rolled out of the ring, walked over to the timekeepers area and took a steel chair. He was going to take advantage of the referee being down.

Roman Reigns then re-entered the ring and drove the point of the steel chair right into abdominal area of Seth Rollins. Seth gritted his teeth in pain as he lay on the mat.

Roman stood there in the ring with steel chair in hand facing the direction of where the destroyed commentary table was.

"You wanna play mind games with me Seth? Huh! Well know you will feel the pain of what happens when you cross the Tribal Chief"

Roman Reigns lifted the chair above his head preparing to swing but just then he felt a pair of arms locked around his waist and Roman was then thrown backwards for a German Suplex. The steel chair also flew across the ring.

It was Brock Lesnar, the WWE Champion. After Roman Reigns got up Brock Lesnar lifted him up on his shoulders and hit him with an F5 onto the steel chair. Brock yelled out loud, exited to ring and walked towards the entrance with a smile on his face.

McAfee: I don't believe what I just saw.

Cole: Remember Reigns hit Lesnar with a Superman Punch on the first Smackdown of the year and walked off. I've known Brock Lesnar ever since he debut 20 years ago and there is no way that Brock would ever let that slide. Roman might have fired the first shot but Brock just retaliated.

Seth got to his feet seeing that Roman was down and knew that this could be his moment, the chance to bring the Universal Championship home to Raw. Seth walked over to the corner and stomped his foot multiple times as the crowd proceeded to chant "BURN IT DOWN!"

Cole: Seth Rollins is getting this whole arena on the edge of their seat just waiting for Reigns to get up… Stomp! Face first into the steel chair and Rollins slides the chair out of the right and goes for the cover. The referee is coming too.

The referee slowly crawled over and started to count.

1…..2…..3

The crowd erupted as the bell rang.

"Here is your winner and the new Universal Champion Seth "Freakin" Rollins"

Cole: Seth Rollins has done it. He has reclaimed the championship that he lost 3 years ago, he has also ended the record setting 517-day reign of the Tribal Chief.

McAfee: All the mind games that Seth Rollins played with Roman Reigns has paid off for him and you can see how much the Universal Championship means to him.

Cole: Brock Lesnar might have helped out, but the result will always say that Seth Rollins defeated Roman Reigns.

Seth was celebrating in the ring when he was suddenly hit in the back with a steel chair by Roman Reigns.

Cole: What the hell has gotten into Roman Reigns?

McAfee: Hey Michael, if I lost my championship under unfair circumstances, I'd be pissed off too.

The referee tried to calm Roman down but Roman hit the referee with the chair and then put him in the Guillotine to which the ref would quickly pass out.

Roman Reigns would then rip the bulletproof vest and shirt of Seth Rollins and proceeded to continuously strike Rollins in the head with his first until Seth Rollins began to bleed.

Roman Reigns went outside the ring and reached under the ring to grab a kendo stick to which he would get back into the ring and repeatedly hit the exposed torso and back of Seth Rollins to which cuts and welts would start to show on Seth's body as he could barely move but Roman was far from done.

Security tried to intervene in the situation but all of them ended up on the wrong side of the kendo stick.

Roman walked to the destroyed announce table and demanded Pat McAfee to give him his chair but when Pat hesitated Roman shoved him off, picked up the steel chair and smacked the chair right on McAfee's back.

Cole: I can't believe what I am witnessing, I've never seen Roman Reigns this unhinged before. He's gone insane.

Seth Rollins was still laying there on his back. He was bleeding and looking up as Roman Reigns put a steel chair underneath his head. Roman stood above him and lifted the other steel chair he was holding in his hand and swung the chair down to deliver a con-chair-to to the new champion.

Roman delivered the con-chair-to two more times as members of the WWE universe would either cringe, look away, closed their eyes, cover their children's eyes, cheer or boo.

Roman Reigns threw the steel chair down, stood in the middle of the ring held his index finger up and pointed to the ceiling all with an angry look on his face. Boos rang out through most of the arena as others just stood their shocked at what they just saw as the beaten bodies of Seth Rollins, Pat McAfee, referee Charles Robinson and several security guards lay both inside and outside of the ring.

Roman then left the ring and walked towards the entrance way still with the angry look on his face as the fans showered him with boos. Doctors brought out several stretchers to take the beaten people to the hospital especially Seth Rollins.

Cole: In all my years I've never seen a beating like that. We saw a historical reign end and the new champion will be celebrating in a hospital. My broadcast colleague was smashed with a steel chair. I do not want to be in Roman Reigns way and judging by that sinister look on Roman Reigns face it looks like this might just only be the beginning.
