Cousin Calamity
At Rock Hollow, Melody was sitting on the couch while feeding her little sister, who drank the entire bottle of milk without any problem, before letting out a hiccup to signify that she was done.
Melody gently patted Evie on the back as the baby Rock Troll let out a loud burp before saying, "E-cuse me," while Melody giggled, saying, "Looks like someone is now happy and full."
Evie nodded and said, "My tummy feels heavy and I feel weady ta wock and woll," before pulling out her guitar and shredding it, though the music sounded off-key since she wasn't very good at playing her guitar yet.
Suddenly, Demo came up to the mixed Troll, saying, "Hey, Mel, you got mail," and tossed her a postcard, to which she caught and looked at.
Melody read the postcard while Evie said as she hopped onto the top of her sister's head, "What does it say, big sissy? I can't wead yet."
Melody didn't say anything at first until something in the postcard made her smile bright and said, "Awesome! We're gonna get to see her again"!
Melody jumped up and down in excitement, cheering loudly while Evie hung onto her big sister's hair as she asked while shouting, "Ahhhhhhh, who's coming, big sissy"?
Melody then stopped and let Evie regain her footing, hopping into her big sister's right hand while Melody explained, "You see, Evie, someone from our family who lives near Volcano Rock City is coming to visit, and you're gonna get to meet her for the first time."
Evie then said, "Ooh, a new fwiend? No, new fammy membwew? I don't get it."
Melody chuckled and said, "You might want to ask mom to help clarify, but this is so exciting! I got to tell mom and Val about this! Come on," and started to run to find her mother and cousin.
By the stage, Mal was helping one of the Rock Trolls fix the wiring inside a speaker that wasn't working while Val was sitting on the edge of the stage, strumming her guitar, when she heard Melody come running in, shouting, "Mom! Val! Val! Mom"!
Melody skidded to a halt, unaware that she was standing near a microphone, started to shout, "I got some awesome news to-," but stopped when not only she heard a loud squealing feedback noise that came from the speaker but saw every Rock Troll cover their ears to block out the noise, including Val and Evie.
Melody soon saw the microphone she was standing near and picked it up, moving it and its stand away from her so she could speak without any sound frequency playing back, as she sheepishly chuckled and said, "Sorry about that, everyone. Anyways, Val, I got awesome news! Guess who's coming to Trollstopia"?
Val, a little curious to know who asked, "Is it Petra," as Melody shook her head and said, "No, guess again."
Val strummed her guitar while asking, "Is it Blaze," as Melody groaned and said, "Not him either, and why would he write to me? I don't even write to him."
Val then got an idea and asked with a smirk, "Is it Mojo," as Melody started to blush, her cheeks flushing pink while saying, "Not him, unfortunately, but it would be nice to see him again."
Val then stopped playing her guitar, placed it down beside her, and shrugged her shoulders while stating, "Then, I have absolutely no idea. Who is it"?
Melody then exclaimed, "Cousin K.C. is coming to visit us in Trollstopia"!
Val's eyes suddenly widened in shock as she said, "Cousin...K.C.," as Mal, who overheard her daughter's exclamation, came over while saying, "K.C. is coming to visit? Oh, how wonderful! It'll be heartwarming to see her again," as Evie then asked, "Who's K.C."?
Melody replied, "K.C. is our cousin from dad's side of the family. She's awesome! She's a great singer, dancer, and an all-around athlete! She loves to be active and do fun things wherever she goes! Plus, K.C. is the only Troll I know that can juggle Glitterballs while standing on one foot and balancing a book on her nose."
Evie seemed to be really impressed, saying, "Wow, I wanna meet K.C.! When is she coming"?
Melody looked at the postcard and said, "Uncle Tony said that she should be here by tomorrow, so that'll give us plenty of time to plan out the most awesome visit day for her! This is gonna be so much fun," and ran out in excitement while Evie rode on top of her big sister's head.
Meanwhile, Val hopped down from the stage and sighed sadly, watching her younger cousin run off.
Mal saw the Rock ambassador's sad facial expression and approached her, placing a hand on her shoulder while asking, "What's wrong, sweetie? I thought you'd be excited to see your cousin K.C."
Val answered, "Yeah, I am, but...I'm also a bit...I don't know...scared too."
When Mal asked, "Why's that, Val," Val replied, "Well, 'cause the last time I saw cousin K.C...we didn't exactly talk things over too well."
Val then explained, "During the World Tour and everything, K.C. never really got over Barb's attempt to turn everyone into Rock Zombies and try to render the whole world under Rock, and she took her vents and frustrations out on me since I am Barb's closest best friend. I tried to tell her that Barb was only doing it to unite us, you know, before Popsqueak broke out of the cage she was trapped in, but she wouldn't listen to me and scolded me for siding with the queen of Rock instead of our family. We...didn't talk afterward, and even after everyone made up and we all united, she was still mad at me and well...we haven't spoken to each other since."
Mal gave her niece a gentle hug, saying, "Oh, Val, sweetie, I know it's been hard, but you've grown and changed since then, and you've learned more about the Pop culture and have even embraced a little bit of it. Besides, I'm sure K.C. has forgiven you since you last saw her, and if you take the chance to talk to her, I'm sure you both will get to conversate and make up."
Val felt a bit unsure, asking, "You really think so, Aunt Mal"?
Mal nodded, answering, "Of course. Plus, you can also use the time during her visit to show her how much you've grown during your time in Trollstopia."
Val thought about it before replying, "Ok, I guess I'm willing to give it a try. Thanks, Aunt Mal."
Val gave her aunt another hug before she went to go catch up with Melody.
Outside, Melody was carrying a large box of art supplies with her, as Evie commented, "Wow, Poppy sure loves to make awt"!
Melody replied, "Good thing she lent us these art supplies! K.C. loves art, so we'll have to make sure we do some art projects, ooh! And play a lot of games too"!
Melody struggled to keep the box up as Aggie, who saw Melody struggling, came over, saying, "Wow, Mel, that's a lot of art supplies." Melody replied, "Thanks, Aggie, I know it's a lot, but I want to be fully prepared."
Aggie curiously raised an eyebrow, asking, "For what," as Val soon caught up with Melody, saying while catching her breath, "Melly...there you are. Whoo...you sure are excited."
Melody placed the box down and said, "Well, of course I'm excited; it's not every day you get a visit from family," as Evie said, "Yeah, fammy visit," and smashed a guitar on Melody's head, making the Pop/Rock Troll wince in pain.
Aggie then asked, "Family? What do you mean," as Val answered, "Our older cousin, K.C. is coming to visit tomorrow."
Aggie gasped happily, saying, "Really? Wow, you two! I didn't know you had another cousin"!
Melody chuckled and replied, "Well, you never asked, but since the topic's now on the table, yeah, K.C. is our older cousin from my dad's side of the family. She's older than Val and me, by about 4 years, for Val, and 6 years, for me."
Aggie then asked, "Wait, if she's from your dad's side, is she a Pop Troll," as Melody and Val both nodded, with Melody adding, "After my dad married my mom, his family moved to a patch of forest near Volcano Rock City so our families could be close to each other." Val then added, "Despite the tension between Rock and Pop, often, Aunt Mal and Uncle Bill would come to his family's place to visit. My family also came by there too whenever Mal would come to make a visit."
Melody then snickered, saying, "Remember the time my uncle Tony tried to mosh with your dad"?
Val snickered too, saying, "Yeah, it was hilarious, though I will credit his creativity."
Aggie then said, "Wow! what's K.C. like"? Melody answered, "Oh, you'll get to learn all about K.C. when she comes tomorrow; you'll love her! She is super cool"!
Val nervously chuckled, saying, "Yeah, really cool," before looking away in worry that K.C. would still be mad at her during her visit tomorrow.
The next day, Melody was by the edge of town, looking to see if she could spot K.c. coming down the path, saying, "Oh guitar picks, where is she? I hope she arrives safely! What if something attacked her"?!
Val calmed down her younger cousin by saying, "Easy, Melly, I'm sure K.C. will be fine and will arrive safely."
With them was Aggie, saying, "It's so exciting that we get to meet your Pop cousin, Mel," along with Trollex, who said, "Yeah, I hope K.C. is friendly," and Smidge, who added, "I'm sure she'll be; she is a Pop Troll, and Pop Trolls are quite friendly," and Dante, who said, "This shall be a marvelous visit! I believe we shall all be pleasantly acquainted with K.C. during her time here."
Suddenly, Melody's ear twitched when she heard a loud, "Yahoo," and the sound of light rumbling coming, making her turn around and say, "It's her! She's almost here," as Val gulped and quietly muttered, "She's almost here."
Suddenly, everyone saw a figure riding what looked like an orange-and-blue striped Critterboard with red wheels and yellow center of the wheels. She rode it down the forest path, before stopping in front of the edge of town, skidding to a stop before hopping off the board and holding it under her arm. Everyone was amazed to see the new Pop Troll standing in front of them, as she had dark purple skin, but the color was a bit lighter than Melody's nose and eyes.
The new Pop Troll also has wavy purple hair that went to the middle of her back, pink eyes, and a sky blue nose. The new Pop Troll was wearing a long sleeve light green skirt that had her initials, K.C., in silver disco-palate designs, and they had a golden rim around each letter, a blue denim vest over the shirt, a dark-green-and-red plaid skirt, where the dark green squares had golden note designs, and the red squares had blue flower designs on them, black legging pants, and light purple sneakers with gray rims on the bottom. On her left wrist was a pink hug watch with a red flower that had a yellow center on it, though currently, it was closed up due to it not being Hug Time (This is the new character I was referring to, btw).
Melody squealed in excitement, shouting, "K.C.," and ran to her, hugging the Pop Troll as she caught Melody, spinning her around while they hugged.
Then, she spoke up, saying with a chuckle, "Hey there, cousin Melody"!
She then placed Melody down, saying, "Oh, look at you; you're getting so big! You're almost as tall as me now! How's Aunt Mal"?
Melody smiled, answering, "My mom's been doing well; ever since we moved to Trollstopia, things have been a lot of fun here! How's the family"?
K.C. smiled, answering, "Everyone's doing great; we miss getting to see you."
Melody smiled, saying, "I miss seeing you guys too. Oh, K.C., let me introduce you to some of my friends"!
Val saw K.C. coming and hid behind Aggie, Trollex, Dante, and Smidge, much to their confusion, as Melody came towards them with K.C. beside her, saying, "Guys, this is K.C., my cousin. K.C., these are some of my friends. This little Pop Troll is Smidge, the strongest Pop Troll in all of Pop Village."
Smidge shook hands with K.C., saying, "Nice to meet you, K.C.; cool trick you did on that Critterboard"!
K.C. smiled, saying, "Thanks, Smidge. I've been kick-flipping with this fella since I was a little Troll. I'd be more than happy to teach you a few moves."
Smidge squealed excitedly, before Melody said while pointing at Dante, "And right here, next to Smidge, is the fine and elegant Dante Crescendo."
Dante bowed in front of K.C., saying, "A pleasure to make your dear acquaintance, K.C." K.C. bowed back at Dante, saying, "The pleasure is all mine; I must say, your outfit is very fashionable. I love the conductor's jacket, and I admire your wings; such a unique pattern."
Dante smiled, saying, "Thank you, KC; I never truly noticed the patterns on my wings before. Allow me to honor your visit with a little concerto I came up with last night."
Dante then pulled out his baton and started to wave it around, summoning note-bugs to appear and harmonize a beautiful melody, which K.C. listened to and smiled in awe of how wonderful the music sounded.
Once Dante had finished, K.C. applauded, stating, "That was beautiful, Dante! Such a marvel for the ears"!
Dante smiled, blushing a bit in embarrassment.
Melody then pointed to Trollex, saying, "And this is the brave and talented King Trollex of the Techno Tribe"!
Trollex waved hello, saying, "Hey there, K.C. Nice to meet you."
K.C. shook hands with Trollex, saying, "Nice to meet you too, your majesty; I heard so much about you from Melody's letters. Especially about your beautiful relationship with your sweetheart Aggie."
Aggie and Trollex both blushed in embarrassment, before K.C. added, "She also told me about your exceptional DJ skills, and that you're a brave and kind and very courteous king. Aggie is lucky to be dating you."
Trollex smiled, saying, "Thanks, K.C. You should come to the lagoon and join a rave during your visit. You'll see my brother and me playing the music."
K.C. chuckled and said, "I definitely will take that into consideration." Melody then pointed to Aggie, saying, "And finally, this special Troll, K.C., is my best friend in the whole universe, Aggie, the Master of All Music"!
Aggie shook hands with K.C., saying, "It's an honor to meet a fellow family member of my best friend's family."
K.C. replied, "Same here; Melody told me so much about you in her letters as well, especially about the many fun things you both did together. It really warms my heart to see my little cousin with good friends such as you and all of the other Trollstopia residents. Plus, this is really exciting to be meeting a real-life MMT up close; you're even more colorful in person."
Aggie smiled in awe as Melody then noticed Val's pigtails sticking up behind the group, prompting her to ask, "Val, what are you doing there"?
That prompted the Rock Troll to nervously come out, chuckling nervously while saying, "Oh, sorry about that, Melly; I, uh, dropped my guitar pick and was looking for it."
She then saw K.C. give her a wave as Val shyly waved hello back, saying, "Hey, cousin K.C. H-How's it been"?
K.C. looked at Val and, for the first time that Val has seen her since she last interacted, offered a warm smile and said, "Hey, Val, it's been a while. How have things been with you"?
Val was speechless, unable to say or do anything to respond out of shock, as Melody, who was confused, spoke up and said, "Ok...uh...K.C., why don't we show you around Trollstopia? You're going to love the places here, plus, you'll get to see how much Pop Village has grown"!
K.C. chuckled and said, "Sure, I'd love a tour." Melody began to lead K.C. to their first stop, with Smidge and Dante following her, as Dante commented, "I highly recommend we show her Classical Crest first."
Meanwhile, Aggie and Trollex noticed the shocked look Val had on her face, as Aggie asked, "Val? You ok there"?
Val shook her head and snapped back into it, saying, "Yeah...yeah..I'm ok," before Trollex asked, "Are you gonna follow your cousin"?
Val gasped and realized that the first opportunity to make up with K.C. was literally walking away from her, as she ran after them, shouting, "Wait up," while Aggie and Trollex looked at one another and shrugged in confusion.
At Rock Hollow, Melody was leading K.C around, saying, "And this is Rock Hollow; home of the Hard Rock Trolls, and where Val and I have been staying at. It's cozy, but can get noisy and a bit destructive at times, so you might want to watch your step."
On cue, K.C. saw a guitar flying overhead and ducked with Melody as they watched it crash to the floor and break, with K.C. chuckling and said, "Some things don't change, but wow, it's cool in here. I got to say, Trollstopia is pretty nice."
Melody then said, "Wait till you see Pop Village, and get to meet Queen Poppy; she is the pure example of full-blown "pop"timism."
Suddenly, they saw Mal Shredder coming towards them, with Evie riding on her mother's head, as Mal said, "K.C.! It's so good to see you again, hon," and hugged her eldest niece, with K.C. hugging Mal back while saying, "It's awesome to see you again, Aunt Mal. Wow, you look great. Keeping fit"?
Mal chuckled and said, "I do maintain my exercises; don't let my age fool you."
K.C. and Melody both broke into laughter as K.C. commented, "Still as witty as ever, Aunt Mal," before Evie then commented, "Is she K.C."?
K.C. noticed the small Rock Troll, as Melody explained, "That's my new little sister, Evie. Evie, meet our cousin: K.C."
Evie hopped into K.c.'s hands, as K.C. smiled in awe, saying, "Hi there, it's so nice to meet you! You're even more adorable up close as in the photos."
Evie then said, "Hi, cousin K.C, nice to meet you. Want to wock out latew"?
K.C. smiled and said, "I'd love to," as Evie cheered and jumped onto Melody's head, with Melody mentioning, "Evie is a bit of an early rocker, and very energetic. but she's also sweet, and funny, and-," when she felt Evie slam another tiny guitar on her head, making her wince in pain while saying, "Already can smash very well," as Evie jumped back into Mal's hands.
K.C. snickered quietly while commenting, "Seeing her smash her guitar reminds me of how Val likes to smash her guitar after every performance."
Val was entering the hollow, almost out of breath, when she heard K.C.'s statement and panicked, thinking that K.C. was still mad at her about what happened back during the world tour.
So, she quickly took in a deep breath, pulled out a nervous smile, and said, "Hey, my favorite cousins in the whole wide world," while approaching them, wrapping her arms around them while bringing them into a sideways hug, to which K.C. and Melody were both confused by, with Melody asking, "Val," while K.C. replied, "Hey, Val, you doing ok"?
Val answered, "Oh yeah, totally; you know me: keeping it real and everything," while sheepishly chuckling before mentioning, "Anyways, there's an arts and crafts session going on in 5 minutes, and I was just about to head there, and thought maybe you'd want to join in"?
Melody was almost shocked by Val's request while K.C was surprised, saying, "Wow, Val, I didn't know you were an artsy kind of Troll."
Val nervously stammered, "Uh, y-yeah, I'm totally into the arts and making things because it's a lot more fun to make 'em than to break 'em. I mean, you know how it is, right? Does this make sense 'cause I can keep it going"!
K.C. raised a curious eyebrow before smiling, saying, "Well, sure! I'd love to join! Where's it taking place"?
Val replied, "In Pop Village. L-Let me show you the way! Come on, Melly; don't be a slowpoke," and led the way out of Rock Hollow, with K.C. following Val, while Melody follows them, saying to her little sister, "Evie, is Val acting...strange to you"?
Evie shrugged and said, "Cousin Val looks fine to me," while Melody bit her lip, unsure of the change in Val's behavior.
In Pop Village, Harper was leading a painting course, saying, "That's right; just ease into it. Let your mind create the picture, and let your body make it come to life as you splash your canvas with inspiration."
Smidge was painting a picture of a soccer player while Biggie was painting a portrait of Mr. Dinkles, to which the worm saw and smiled, saying, "Mew," happily.
K.C. was painting a picture of a flower field, as Smidge noticed this and complimented, "Ooh, K.C., that's beautiful"! K.C. replied, "I love nature, to me, it's like a visual cupcake for my eyes."
Smidge chuckled and said, "Amen, sister." K.C. saw Melody's painting, which was of a heart with all six main genre colors, along with an instrument for each main genre of music, and complimented, "Beautiful painting, Mel"!
Melody smiled, saying, "Thanks. I just paint how I feel," as Aggie, who was painting a picture of the ocean with colorful fish next to Melody, saw the picture and complimented, "That is awesome, Mel"!
Melody saw Aggie's painting and replied, "Thanks, and your picture is just as awesome, Aggie," with Aggie smiling happily.
Val, however, was looking at her paint canvas, which was blank, as she nervously tried to think of something to paint.
She then saw Cooper poop out a cupcake and said, "Aha," and started to use the paints and messily painted a picture of a cupcake with slipping icing, a dripping cherry, messy sprinkles, and a splotched cupcake wrapper where the cupcake was resting in.
K.C. saw Val's painting and was unsure what to say, commenting, "Looks...cool, I think," as Val smiled, replying, "Thanks! I made it for you," and gave the painting to K.C., who was surprised, asking, "For me"?
Val nodded and said, "Just a little something to, uh, remember me by when you go home later."
Melody was watching this and was very surprised to see Val not only paint something without destroying the canvas, or making the picture look like a total mess, but she gave it to someone...as a gift.
She wasn't the only one surprised as Aggie noticed this too and whispered, "Well, that's new," while Melody replied, "Tell me about it. Never once has Val wanted to do any painting, much less, any art in general. She prefers to break things more than make things."
As Melody continued to see Val and K.C. interact, she began to develop the strange feeling that something was off about her.
Later on, Poppy was playing jump rope with Satin and Chenille, when they saw Melody and Val approach them with K.C., as Poppy jumped away from the rope and said while approaching them, "Hey, girls! Who's your friend"?
Melody introduced K.C. to Poppy, saying, "Poppy, meet K.C., our older cousin from my dad's side of the family, and yes, she's a Pop Troll."
Poppy gasped in shock before saying, "Wow! But wait, how come I haven't seen you before"?
K.C. chuckled before answering, "Well, because my family and I actually live in a patch of forest near Volcano Rock City; they moved there after my uncle married Melody's mom. So, we've been living there since then."
Poppy then shook hands with K.C., saying, "Well, it's really nice to meet you, K.C. I'm Queen Poppy of the Pop Trolls." Satin and Chenille then introduced themselves, with Satin saying, "Hi, it's awesome to meet you! I'm Satin," while Chenille added, "And I'm Chenille."
K.C. was surprised to see Satin and Chenille conjoined together by the hair, commenting, "Wow, I never met twins conjoined by their hair before, which your hair is very gorgeous by the way."
Satin and Chenille were flattered by the compliment, with Chenille saying, "Thank you," while Satin added, "And your hair looks gorgeous too! We love the waves," as K.C. smiled, twirling a lock of her hair as she said, "Thank you, it's a genetic trait I got from my mom."
Poppy then complimented, "Satin and Chenille are our resident fashion designers, and make their own lines of fashion."
Satin then said, "It's true, we love to make fashion that exceeds the limits of imagination," while Chenille added, "Though I often have to fix Satin's mistakes," which triggered her sister to reply with a glare and a loud, "Hey"!
Val then looked at K.C.'s outfit and got an idea, saying, "Um, hey, Satin, Chenille, why don't you guys, uhm, show K.C. some of the brilliant outfits you've made"?
Satin and Chenille both squealed excitedly, with Poppy saying, "I'll be your model if you guys want."
Then, suddenly, Val raised her hand and asked nervously, "Uh, actually, Popsqueak, would it be ok if...I modeled for you guys"?
Satin and Chenille gasped in surprise, but their gasps were not compared to Poppy's shocked gasps, with Satin asking, "Really, Val? YOU want to model OUR clothes," with Val replying while nervously fiddling with her fingers, "Y-Yeah. That's ok, right"?
Both Pop twins didn't know what to comprehend, till Chenille said, "Well, as crazy as I am for suggesting this, I think we should give her a chance," while Satin said, "Yeah, I agree."
K.C. smiled in interest, saying, "Wow, Val; I never knew you were into modeling." Val forced another nervous sile and said while scratching the back of her head, "W-Well, it's not as crazy as skydiving off a ledge, but it's really cool. Come on," and led K.C. to Satin and Chenille's pod, with the Pop twins following her, while Poppy still stood there, her mouth agape, while Melody was still speechless, commenting, "Val never has any interest in modeling, especially for Satin and Chenille's type of clothing! She prefers shreds over dresses"!
At Satin and Chenille's pod, the fashion twins were busy picking out an outfit for Val to try on, saying, "Nope," simultaneously at some of the choices they picked out.
Val was standing on the modeling podium, nervously biting her bottom lip while deep inside, she was a panicked mess.
She was resisting the urge to just grab her guitar and go on a frantic smashing spree to make up for all of the hesitancy and nerves she felt coursing through her veins, but she did not want to make herself look like a fool in front of K.C. So, she took a deep breath, saying to herself, "Ok, Val, pull it together. You can do it; I'm sure whatever they got for you to wear can't be too bad, right"?
Then, Val saw the outfit that the fashion twins picked out for her, which consisted of a pink long sleeve shirt, that was luckily a mid-driff for Val, so there was a sense of familiarity, and it had glitter and hearts all over it, a light blue flowery-patterned skirt, green, and light green, puppy-patterned foot coverings.
Val gulped in shock, saying, "Wow, that's...wow," as Satin said, "It's our cutest set yet," while Chenille added, "Try it on"!
A few minutes later, Melody came into the pod, saying, "Val, are you in- Oh my Troll," before her jaw dropped from seeing Val wearing the Pop-like outfit.
Val was blushing in embarrassment while nervously waving at her younger cousin, saying, "H-Hey, Melly. Uh...you like"?
Melody resisted the urge to facepalm while asking, "Ok, Val, what the heck"?! Val stuttered while shuffling her left foot," U-Uh, I just thought it'd be cool to...you know...try something different."
K.C. was confused about Val's new outfit, while at the same time, found it pretty interesting, as she commented, "I got to say, it's different, but it looks pretty cool on you, Val. Didn't think you were one for glitter and flowers."
Val smiled, saying, "Thanks, K.C. Um, so, how about we uh, go to the stadium next and play some Glitterball? It's loads of fun"! K.C. got up and said, "Sure, it sounds like a blast"!
Melody then stepped in, saying, "Um, K.C., why don't you let Satin and Chenille show you to the stadium? I need to talk to Val a minute."
K.C. nodded while following the fashion twins out of their pod, before Melody faced Val, saying, "Val Thundershock, care to tell me what's going on?! You don't paint, and you especially don't wear clothing like this! What's gotten into you"?
Val looked around before sighing in defeat, saying, "Ok, truth time, Melly: I know I'm acting weird, but it's only because I want to make a good impression on K.C. and get her to see that I care about her by connecting to the other musical side of our family. That way, she can forgive me for...you know..what happened before."
Melody sighed and said, "Look, I get it, you want to make things right with K.C., but at the expense of making yourself uncomfortable by doing things that you usually aren't fond of? I mean, I would understand that it's for family, but Val, you don't need to show K.C. you care about our family by doing "this." She's our cousin, and she cares about both of us, no matter what. I'm certain if you just talk to her, you'll see that, and who knows? She might've already forgiven you."
Val then said, "I don't know, Melly; you weren't there when I was trying to talk to K.C. that day, she was really mad at me. And before, I probably would not have cared as much, but I've changed since then, and I want her to see that, and not assume I'm still the same Troll from before. Now, come on, maybe some Glitterball will help me clear my head about this," and ran out of the pod, with Melody following Val in concern.
At the stadium, Poppy had gathered her Snack Pack buddies, whom K.C. was being introduced to, and was explaining the rules to K.c. on how to play when Val and Melody soon arrived, prompting Poppy to say, Hey, girls! you're just in time," while the Snack Pack looked at Val in confusion, Smidge saying, "Val, is that you," while Legsly added, "What in doughnuts are you wearing"?
Val tugged at the end of her skirt and said, "My, uh, new outfit. Cool, isn't it"? All of the Trolls muttered confusingly, with DJ saying, "Well that's one way to put it," while Poppy commented, "Awwwww, it's so adorable on you, Val"!
Val nervously smiled, saying, "Uh...thanks, Popsque- I mean Poppy! Thanks, Poppy."
Now, Poppy was the one confused since Val always called her Popsqueak, like Barb did, so that triggered a moment for her to think something was up before Val commented as she picked up a Glitterball with her hair, "Uh, let's play Glitterball! Who's team captain"?
Soon, everyone was starting the game of Glitterball, with Team Smidge (Smidge, Cooper, Guy, Satin and Chenille, Biggie, and DJ) vs Team K.C. (K.C., Val, Melody, Poppy, Fuzzbert, and Legsly).
Balls were flying everywhere as everyone was having a good time, including Val, who didn't seem to be as nervous or hesitant anymore since she was doing something that, to her, actually seemed like fun.
A few minutes into the game, Biggie launched his Glitterball, and it hit Val in the back, meaning that she was out. when Val got hit, she just froze, like a statue, and slowly, turned around to face Biggie, who realized his mistake and shouted, "Oh no! I just eliminated Val Thundershock"!
Smidge shouted, "Oh my guh, she's gonna blow, I know it," and Cooper dunked his head into the ground, screaming in panic, while everyone else on the field, except a very confused K.C., ducked down and shielded themselves in their hair to avoid, what they thought, was gonna be a very loud shout or talk that would lead to some hardcore smashing later on.
However, that did not happen at all, much to everyone's shock. When Val turned around and approached Biggie, she took a deep breath in and out and said, "It's ok, Biggie."
Biggie was very surprised to say the least to hear Val of all Trolls to say something like that, as she continued with, "You beat me for once, and well, you earned that win, of some sort. Um...can you excuse me for just a second," before running out of the stadium all worried-like, running as fast as a cheetah.
Everyone felt very worried about Val's well-being, especially Poppy, who said, "What's wrong with Val"? Melody facepalmed and said, "Ok, that's it! I'm going to go talk to Val," and ran out of the stadium to find Val.
K.C. felt very worried about her cousins and decided to follow Melody, hoping that she could get some answers too as to what was going on.
Val kept running and running as fast as her feet could carry, trying to get as far away as she could. when Val finally got as far as she could before stopping to catch her breath, she saw that she was by the creek, where there was a pile of rocks just sitting there.
Val looked at the rocks and allowed all of the anxiety and feelings she kept swallowing up to rise up and overcome her body and mind...which led to her pulling out her guitar and starting to smash the rocks as fast as could.
Every strike she laid down with her guitar was like a wave of relief that hit her, cleansing her from all the pent-up nerves and bitterness and worries and fears she had pent up inside.
Val let out a loud scream while she kept smashing the rocks, repeatedly slamming her guitar on top of each rock, smashing it into a bunch of pieces, even the pieces that were already broken.
Finally, after the rocks were all reduced to nothing more than mere pebbly dust, Val lifted her guitar high one last time, and with an extra loud scream, she slammed it onto the ground, kicking the dust up, and breaking her guitar at the same time. Val breathed really fast as she saw the "Carnage" of her little "Rage" moment before her breathing started to slow and sound...shaky.
Val could feel her chest throb and her emotions begin to overwhelm as small tears started to form around her eyes, despite her attempts to make them stop, as she walked over to the tree next to the dust and guitar rubble pile and sat down, hugging her knees, and broke into a sob.
She could care less if anyone saw her like this now; she just wanted to lt out everything she was feeling, despite it being against Rock nature to show emotions. Val sobbed harder than she possibly ever had done in her entire life, clutching her knees like they were gonna fall off her legs.
At that moment, K.C. was looking around the area when she heard the sound of crying and rode her Critterboard towards where the sound was coming from. She ended up by the creek as well and found Val sitting against the tree crying, a sight she definitely did not expect to see. K.C. hopped off her Critterboard, holding it under her arm, and went up to Val, saying, "Val? Are you...ok"?
Val stopped her sobbing for a minute to look up, sniffling while saying, "K.C.? What are you doing here"?
K.C. answered, "Melody and I were looking for you and I heard you crying and came to see if something's wrong."
Val tried to rid her eyes of the tears she had, saying, "What? I-I wasn't-," but even Val had to be totally honest with herself, shouting, "Oh, who am I kidding?! Yeah, something's wrong, and it's me," and sobbed again, covering her face with her arms.
K.C. sat next to Val and wrapped an arm around Val, saying, "Val, look, I've noticed that you've been acting pretty...different today, and, I don't know if it's because I'm here or something else but, I care about you. you're part of my family, and I want to help you."
Val sniffled before saying, "I'm surprised you're even talking to me; I thought you'd never speak to me again."
K.C. curiously raised an eyebrow, asking, "What do you mean"? Val sighed and replied, "See...the reason why I've been doing everything I've done today, acting all Pop-like and, dressing like this and not acting like myself is...I've been trying to show you that I've changed since you last saw me."
Val continued with, "Ever since I came to Trollstopia, living here with Melly, and meeting Poppy and all of the other Trolls around, I've become more open to the different cultures, even Pop despite, you know, how I viewed it before. And I've become friendlier, of some sort, and I've become nicer too. And when I heard you were coming to visit, I freaked out because...I remember our argument back during the World Tour and how we hadn't spoken to each other since, and I was afraid you were still mad at me, and I thought that if I acted like this, you'd notice my change and maybe...forgive me. But I probably screwed up and made things worse. I acted like a complete idiot, and completely not like myself. I'm...really sorry, K.C...for everything."
Val hung her head low and sighed sadly as K.C. was speechless. She didn't know Val had been feeling this way, and to see that she had risked her own self-dignity to do this for her, it was heart-warming, but it also wasn't right. so, she then said, "So, that's why you've been doing this. Val, you didn't need to go all out like that for me."
Val was surprised, picking her head up and looking at K.C., saying, "Huh? But...aren't you upset or...mad at me still"?
K.C. shook her head and said, "No, I'm not, and you know what? I wasn't even upset about that when I came here, and I was especially not mad at you. Truth is...that's the reason why I wanted to come here for a visit. to see you guys, but also, I thought it'd be the perfect chance to talk to you...about this."
Val was surprised, saying, "You wanted...to talk to me"?
K.C. nodded, saying, "Yeah. See, yeah, I'll admit our time of silence when we weren't speaking to each other was pretty bad, and I feel awful that I didn't step up to try and make things right between us. Then, when I heard about you going to Trollstopia with Melody, I was worried that you both were gonna be ok until I started getting Melody's letters."
K.C. then reached into her hair and pulled out some sheets of paper with writing on them, making Val gasp and ask, "You kept her letters"?
K.C. replied, "Yep, each and every one. Look at this one," and picked up one sheet of paper, saying while reading it, "Dear, K.C., how's the family? Get this, you're not gonna believe what happened! This morning, Poppy was teaching us how to make marshmallow-filled cupcakes, and Val did a little prank by adding pop rockets into the marshmallow goo. So, when Poppy ate it after we baked the cupcakes, it exploded in her mouth like a firework, so, in a way, she got to fill her mouth with marshmallow gooeyness one way or another, lol! We all had a good laugh about it! I tell you K.C. I wish you guys were here to see how much Val and I have really been growing since moving to Trollstopia. Val's growth is especially amazing: she's become a good friend of Poppy, she's more social, and has learned to be more open to different cultural customs, like listening to Demo's Classical guitar playing, this cool scrapbook series called Glitterborn, which she loves to read with Poppy, and arm wrestling with the Country Trolls. Trollstopia has done a lot for us, we've made so many new friends and new memories, and I'm really excited to see what else is gonna happen for us here in Trollstopia. Hugs and gumdrops, Melody."
K.C. then smiled and said, "So, you see Val, I already knew you have changed since you moved here, because Melody always writes to us the truth about everything that happens, and if she says you've grown as a Troll, then that's more than enough for me to believe that too."
Val was speechless as she said, "Wow, that's...awesome. I'm really sorry for the way I've been acting, K.C.; both back then, and now. Can you...forgive me"?
K.C. nodded, saying, "I forgave you a long time ago, Val, so sure. Can you forgive me for...not talking to you after our argument? That wasn't cool of me either."
Val nodded, saying, "Of course I forgive. We're family, and no matter our kind of music, family always sticks together."
Both cousins hugged each other, with Val realizing she was going someone a hug, much to her surprise, but she couldn't care less because she felt so happy that she finally got to make amends with K.C.
At that moment, both Trolls then heard the sound of gasping and found a familiar and exhausted Pop/Rock Troll stumbling towards them, saying, "Val...K.C...thank goodness," before falling over in exhaustion, causing both Trolls to break into laughter.
Melody took a minute to catch her breath before saying, "So, is...everything ok with you two now"?
Both Trolls nodded, with Val saying, "Yep, Melly, we're good. And you were right; I just had to talk to her, and we both worked things out. Though now, I guess your visit is ruined, huh"?
K.C. then said, "Not quite. We still have time to do things together if you want." Val and Melody squealed excitedly before Val tugged the end of her skirt, saying, "But first, I'm changing out of this. I mean, it's sort of nice, but it's not me," and ran to Rock Hollow to get changed, as Melody chuckled and said, "That's Val for ya," while K.C. added, "And I wouldn't have her any other way."
After Val had gotten changed, the trio of cousins decided to spend the rest of the day doing activities with their friends, and everyone had a blast together. The trio first went rock boarding together at Boulder Ridge, then they partook in whirlpool surfing with Synth, as K.C. took to the sport with ease.
Then, they all went to a dance party in the town square, where K.C. ended up having a dance-off with Aggie, both girls performing really well, while Val played her guitar in the background and Melody cheered them on.
Afterward, the trio of girls put on a concert at Classical Crest, and Evie had joined them, slamming on the drums, performing for the rock Trolls, as K.C. sang while Melody and Val played guitar, resulting in Val performing a huge guitar smash at the end.
Afterward, the girls went with Poppy to Country Corral, where K.C. got to meet some of the amazing animals at the ranch before witnessing Val running away from a pack of Adorabulls that were chasing her, with Melody trying to rescue her.
By sundown, everyone had had a fun day together, and it was almost time for K.c. to head home, but there was one more stop on their little day visit: attending a rave down at Techno Lagoon!
The trio dove down into the water, wearing their underwater helmets while showing K.C. around, with K.C. saying, "Wow, this place is so cool"!
Val then said, "Wait till you see the dancefloor; it's rocking"! As they made it to the dancefloor, Melody saw that Aggie was running the music, performing on the DJ set, as she swam to her, saying, "Aggie! You're hosting tonight's rave"?
Aggie nodded and said, "You know it! Care to make a song request"? Melody then whispered something into Aggie's ear as the MMT nodded before pressing some buttons to play the song while Melody swam to K.C., saying, "K.C., why don't you turn this rave up a notch and sing for us"?
Melody handed K.C. a microphone as the Pop Troll heard the music playing, smiling as she started to sing while all of the Techno Trolls, including Val and Melody, danced around her, with Aggie playing the music like a pro.

After the rave ended later, by nightfall, K.C. was hugging both of her cousins by the edge of Trollstopia, with Val asking, "you sure you can't stay a little longer"?
K.C. replied, "I wish I could, but my parents will worry if I don't come home, and besides, someone's got to make sure my dad doesn't go wandering around the house, worried a Growlbeast ate me."
The trio had a good laugh as Melody said, "We're gonna miss you, K.C. Come visit us again soon! Evie's definitely going to be bugging me about asking you to come by again."
K.C. giggled, saying, "Tell Evie that I'll come visit you guys again soon, promise. And Melody, keep letting me know about everything that's going on around here in Trollstopia, got it"?
Melody nodded before K.C. faced Val, saying, "And Val, keep on rocking out for me, got it," and even made the Hard Rock gesture with her right hand.
Val nodded, making the Hard Rock gesture with her left hand, saying, "You got it, cuz," and the cousins shared one last hug before K.C. hopped onto her Critterboard and rode off down the forest path, heading home.
Val watched happily before saying, "hope she does get to visit again soon; today was really fun." Melody added, "I bet she'll come back soon. Now, come on, Val; let's go home for dinner before Evie decides to throw our dinner plates across the hollow."
Val nodded as both cousins started to head back to the hollow, with Val looking back and smiling, hoping that their older cousin did get the chance one day soon come see them again.
