Renaissance Uprising
There was a sense of excitement in the air, as all of Trollstopia was decorated for a very special event. but unlike most events, the decorations this time looked very different. There were banners hung all around with different castle drawings and symbols, colorful flags almost everywhere you looked, mushroom buildings decorated to look like towers and castles, with the meeting house decorated to look like the big main castle, statues of shiny knight armor standing tall for Trolls of all kinds, and many more kinds of medieval-themed decorations all over Trollstopia.
Every Troll was gathered by the big mushroom stage to overhear Poppy's big announcement, as the Pop queen came forward on the stage and blew a very large, long, golden horn with a dark red flag with yellow rims on it that was so loud, everyone covered their ears to try and block off some of the sounds from how loud it was.
Poppy then lowered her horn and said, "Hear ye, hear ye, I am thrilled to declare that for the next two days, we shall be celebrating a very special day that we dub thee: Renaissance Day! A thrilling event where we step back into the past to enjoy all of the excitement of the Middle Troll Ages! To explain more about this special day is someone who is well-aware and highly knowledgeable of the Renaissance period: Classical Tribe leader, conductor Trollzart"!
Everyone applauded as Trollzart flew forward and said, "Many thanks, Queen Poppy, and salutations to you all. I am beyond ecstatic to be sharing with you a special custom that the Classical Trolls and I honor very often back in Symphonyville. The Renaissance Period was a time of great peace and excitement, where many bright and young people from dancers to jousters and jugglers and princes and princesses roamed these lands with great pleasure. A time when society was ruled by kings and queens, very much like today, but under a standard monarchy and social class that has set the boundaries that many Trolls followed for years after. It is a thrilling experience similar to those of your Trolly Tale stories if that comparison comes to mind."
Everyone in the audience became very excited, as Poppy then said while Branch, who was dressed in a dark green Robin Hood themed ensemble, with black pants, brown pointed shoes, a dark green shirt, matching pointed hat with a red feather in it, and a satchel he wore on his shoulder, was holding something, "On this list, which Branch will be posting in a few minutes, are your randomly selected Renaissance characters, which are the roles that you'll need to inhabit for the next two day."
Guy Diamond fonded over getting to act, as he said, "Roles? Inhabit? Characters? Poppy is hitting all of my buzzwords! this shall be lots of fu-u-u-u-u-u-uu-nnnnn"!
Poppy then said, "And if you guys feel a little bit unsure about this, don't worry; the best way to enjoy the day is to embrace your character and have fun with it! Make it your own! Just like if you were right in the time period with them! And if you don't do it for the fun, do it because," as she turned and looked at Val in the audience, saying, "I'll be watching. I'm looking at you, Val."
Val shouted, "Hey," before she crossed her arms and stated while smirking, "Eh, that's fair."
Soon, Branch stepped down from the stage and hung the list up by the tree as everyone crowded around to see what character they would be portraying for the next two days.
Minuet pushed through the crowd so she could get to the list, saying, "Ooh! I bet I'll be a princess, or someone of very high class, ooh! I really hope I'm queen"!
However, when she got to the list and found her name, she saw that next to it, it didn't say princess, or queen, or anything she had wanted, it said "Chambermaid" which made her gasp loudly.
Minuet almost felt like she was gonna pass out on the ground, as she saw Poppy and flew over to her, out loud to show how shocked and upset she felt "My role is chambermaid?! But I wanted to be queen! I have all the perfect qualities for being a proper queen! I'm great at wearing crowns, giving orders, and I've perfectly mastered the queen wave. Watch this wrist action," as she demonstrated a wave that a queen would perform.
Poppy watched and said, "Well, that is a very nice queen wave, but I would save that wrist action for when you're getting under the rim of the toilet bowls, or as I like to call it, "The Upside-Down."
Minuet couldn't believe that she was gonna be acting as a chambermaid, a character she felt that was as low as the ground below her feet. In disbelief, she asked, "Well, who gets to be the monarch then"?
Suddenly, both Trolls turned around and saw Synth, who looked very excited as he looked at the list before he turned around and said excitedly, "I don't know who gets to be monarch, yo, but I'm king! Hahahaha, this is gonna be so *imitates airhorn noises*," as he ran off excitedly, while Minuet remained hovering, jaw-dropped that Synth was the one who was gonna get to be the ruler, and she had to be stuck cleaning toilets.
In disbelief, Minuet started to say, "Seriously?! Synth is going to-,"
Poppy interrupted with, "Ah ah, that's King Synth to you, lowly peasant. Sorry, but you know, acting in character," as Minuet remained hovering, still in shock, even as Poppy continued with, "Speaking of "being in character," don't you have a throne that you must prepare to attend to tomorrow? A porcelain one, the royal flush, Sir John-,"
Finally, after being unable to take it any longer, Minuet exclaimed, "I GET IT," and took a minute to calm down before saying, "Sorry, but I know what you mean: cleaning the toilets," and flew away, still feeling upset about the role she was going to be portraying tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Val was looking at the list and saw that she was assigned the role of jester, prompting her to approach Poppy and say, "Uh, I'm a jester? No no, Popsqueak, uh, not funny at all."
Poppy simply smiled and reached into her hair and pulled out a red-and-blue jester hat with a silver rim, golden bells on the ends of the hat, and a strap to secure it in place, and placed it on Val's head. The Rock ambassador was not amused, especially when Poppy said, "I beg to differ," as she thought Val looked adorable in the jester hat.
Val groaned and said, "There's no way I'm gonna wear the-," before Poppy shushed her and said, "I want to remember you just like this," before she went to go attend to a different task.
Meanwhile, Demo approached Val while saying, "Hey, it's gonna be m'lady; at least you get to be entertaining people. You just gotta commit to your role, like I am. I got "wealthy lord" so I decided I'm gonna be Lord Spikarious, the first Rock noble to realize that a sharp stone shard can double as a guitar pick and a toothpick for those hard to reach places."
Val, however, did not seem amused one bit.
Meanwhile, Aggie was looking at the list as she saw that she and Trollex were both going to be nobles, and on cue, she felt someone tap her on the shoulder and turned around, spotting Trollex, who took her by her Classical hand, kneeled and said, "M'lady," and kissed her hand, making Aggie blush.
Aggie then said, "So, we are both nobles, any ideas how we shall portray our characters"?
Trollex replied, "For that, I do not know of yet, but I do know that as long as I'm with you, we shall be the finest nobles in the kingdom."
The two blushed and shared a sweet romantic kiss together, holding hands as they went to plan their characters.
Melody was looking at the list before shouting in excitement, saying, "Sweet! I get to be a brave knight in shining armor! Dragons, fear me! You shall fall to the mighty swipe of my sword," and mimicked holding a sword and swinging it around.
Then, as she swung her hand, someone caught her hand while saying, "Woah there, sugar, easy on the swingin'."
Melody looked and saw she had almost hit Buckaroo, making her say, "Sorry, Buckaroo; I'm just super pumped about being a knight. What role did you get"?
Buckaroo then said, "Whel, ay'm supposed ta be some Troll's steed, whatevuurr the heck that means."
Melody then pulled out a scrapbook, saying while showing the pages, "Steeds are the horses that knights rode back in medieval times. They say that the bond between a knight and his/her steed was sacred, that the steed vowed internal loyalty to the knight that it served."
Buckaroo was impressed while saying, "Ooh, nawht bad. Say, y'all are ayy knaaght, huh? Why don't ay be your steed? Holly's gonna be Laguna's steed since she got picked ta be ayy knaaght too, so, ay ken be your steed."
Buckaroo then knelt down and said, "Ay pledge my internal loyalty ta you, my liege," as Melody chuckled and said, "You don't need to bow, Buckaroo but sure! Hey, we can join Laguna and Holly, and we can go on quests together"!
Then, both girls saw Tiny Diamond approaching them, saying, "Hey, ladies! Guess what? Tiny Diamond got handpicked to be a bard! Just one question: what's a bard anyway"?
Melody flipped through the scrapbook she had and explained, "Bards were Trolls who would write and tell epic stories about brave acts that people did."
Tiny seemed impressed while saying, "Yeah, that sound awesome! Hey, I can follow you guys around, and write epic tales about what you do"!
Buckaroo tipped her hat and said, "Thank ya kaandly Tiny, that'd be real sweet"!
Melody added, "Awesome! We now have a pair of knights, steeds, and a cute bard to write and tell the epic stories about our heroic quests"!
Later on, around the afternoon, all of the Trolls all over Trollstopia were dressed and portraying the roles of their chosen characters, varying from simple peasants to high-class nobles.
At the moment, by the food stands, Minuet, who was wearing a simple light purple loose, non-formal gown, a brown old blanket covering her back and shoulders, and a white bonnet on her head that covered her ears and most of her hair, was cleaning up some trash that was lying around when she saw Synth walk by and enter the line.
Since Synth was king, he was wearing a red uniform jacket with golden buttons, ribbon to resemble medals, a blue sash across his chest, white pants, and a beautiful blue king's cape with light blue fur and dark blue dots on it, along with a golden crown with jewels on his head.
Minuet, seeing Synth patiently waiting on line, was surprised that he didn't know that as a king, he had some special privileges, and it wouldn't hurt to let him know of that. So, she dropped her trash bag and flew over to Synth, saying, "Um, Synth, as king, you don't have to wait on line with everyone else; you can just go up to the front."
Synth was surprised as he asked, "Wouldn't that be cutting the line, yo"?
Minuet then explained, "No, not really. since you're the ruler, you can easily go up to the front without worry; a lot of people respect you and won't mind at all."
Synth took it into thought and decided to give it a try, walking passed the people in line while saying, "Sorry, excuse me, sorry," but noticed that once he got up to the front, the Trolls in line didn't mind at all and even bowed at King Synth.
Synth ended up really impressed, saying, "Minuet, you're right! Come join me; I have the power of royal cutsies"!
Minuet eagerly stated to the Trolls in line, "Sorry, I'm with the king," and flew towards Synth while passing the Trolls in line, who were surprised of seeing Chambermaid Minuet, while she said, "Excuse me, pardon me, king's orders and all," and stood right behind Synth eagerly.
Synth then turned his head and said to Minuet, "This king stuff is making me stressed, yo, and when I'm stressed, I get hungry."
On cue, his stomach began to rumble, as Minuet giggled and said, "So, I take my king is stressed now"?
Synth then received his order of food, which was a plate of the finest noodles and soup, with chopped scallions and a small bowl of oyster crackers on the side, as the bartender stated, "Here you go, your highness."
Synth accepted the food while saying, "Thank you," and went to go eat his meal, as Minuet flew up to the counter and said, "Um, may I have a beef wellington instead"?
However, staying in tune to her character as the chef, and following Minuet's character, she gave Minuet a bowl of vegetable stew while saying, "Special orders from a chambermaid? Move along kindly, your lowness."
Minuet sighed sadly as she flew over to a table to eat her food, while still feeling upset about having to be a chambermaid. She didn't like how chambermaids were treated, and especially that it didn't come with the high-class perks that being a ruler had.
Meanwhile, Val was reading something on a piece of paper, as Aggie and Trollex, who were dressed as fancy nobles, approached her, as Trollex said, "Hey, Val, like the hat," while the Rock ambassador groaned, giving the Techno king a deadpanned look, demonstrating she did not appreciate being a jester.
Aggie saw the paper Val was reading and asked, "Hey, Val, whatcha reading"?
Before Val could answer, Demo, who was dressed as a fancy lord with a black hat and matching robe, came in asking, "Hey Val, Aggie, Trollex, emergency! How do I keep these golden tights from bunching," while showing his tights off.
Trollex and Aggie both felt a bit uncomfortable from seeing Val's band manager in tights, as Val smirked and answered, "Oh, Demo, I'm not gonna be this Troll for you."
Demo then saw the paper Val was reading and had asked the same question Aggie asked, while Val answered, "Ok, to clear your confusion guys, Trollzart gave us these tiny scrolls so we could send messages to each other. It's like sending a letter, but to Trolls who are in a closer range to you. What's that called"?
Demo suggested, "Ummmmm, writing a note," as Val shook her head, saying, "No, that's not it. Check it out"!
She then proceeded to read some of the other scrolls she had, reading, "Val, waneth to go flavor berry hunting? Dearest Val, I am your secret admirer. Being jester is stupid," before chuckling to herself, adding, "I sent that last one to myself."
Aggie then said, "Oh yeah, I've seen those scrolls. Trollex sent one to me earlier, and he wrote, "Dearest Aggie, you maketh my heart flutter," as Trollex blushed and added, "And Aggie replied back with a scroll that said, "Dearest Noble Trollex, your spirit is as noble as your charm."
Both nobles shared a cute kiss as Demo then sighed sadly, asking, "Why hasn't any Troll sent me a tiny scroll"?
Val answered, "Hey, don't feel bad, Demo. You don't even want to get these. They're only just heartfelt notes from my many friends or other Trolls who think I'm cool. And I know it's odd for me to think of anything to be heartfelt, but yeah, they are pretty sweet."
However, it didn't seem to make Demo feel better, making him exclaim, "How on earth is that supposed to help me feel better," as Trollex cringed while saying, "Yeah, I can see why that might sting."
Aggie tried to reassure Demo by saying, "Yeah, don't worry, Demo. I'm sure someone will send you a scroll son, you just need to have some faith, and patience."
Demo sighed and said, "I sure hope so," as Val, who watched, smiled secretly while beginning ti wrote on a tiny note scroll for someone.
Meanwhile, back by the town square, Minuet was busy cleaning the tables before she noticed Synth sitting on what looked like a throne made entirely out of pool noodles, floaties, and even an inflatable Flamingo Critter chair base. Wanting to see if Synth was ok, Minuet flew towards Synth, hearing his stomach rumbling, while asking, "Um, King Synth, I can't help but get the strong sense that you're possibly stressed"?
Synth sighed and replied, "Yeah, yo, I ain't feeling too a'ight about this royal business. It's just that being king is such a big job, and I already messed up my first royal order. I asked for a pool-noodle throne when I really wanted a cool poodle throne, yo. Making all of these big decisions is even harder than I thought; I don't know how my brother is able to do it."
Suddenly, Minuet had an idea flowing through her mind, thinking that maybe this was a chance to help her friend, and maybe find a solution to her circumstantial problem, commenting, "Perhaps you need a royal advisor. Someone to help you make these kinds of decisions and choices as a king for your people."
Synth seemed to like the idea, mentioning, "Yeah, yo, I could definitely use an advisor, but where could I find a Troll that could give such good advice"?
Synth suddenly seemed to develop a plan, saying, "Hey, you helped me with the dinner line yesterday, Minuet, and you're just as wise as any other Troll around. Maybe you could be my royal advisor, if you're up to it."
Minuet smiled, thinking that this was her chance, as she stated while flying around the sitting Techno prince," Oh, Your Techno grace, I am but a lowly chambermaid. While this is such a generous offer, it would take someone with great power to elevate my station. Someone of great power and respect to the royal community, like a king."
Synth first felt sad that there was no way to promote Minuet to the status of royal advisor, replying with, "Oh, bummer, yo."
However, Minuet simply turned around and counted backward to herself, saying, "Three...two...one," and on cue, Synth suddenly realized it, saying, "Ohhhhhhhhh! Wait, I'm a king! I can make you my royal advisor, Minuet"!
Minuet smiled, saying, "There it is," and turned around, facing Synth, who stood up and waved a toy king scepter around, saying, "Minuet, I dubeth thee my royal advisor"!
Minuet squealed and tore off her white bonnet and threw off her brown raggy cloth, saying, "I accept," while feeling ecstatic about being a royal advisor.
On cue, Poppy, who was wearing a dark blue floppy hat with a yellow feather in it and blew the long royal bugle again, making every Troll cover their ears. Poppy soon placed the bugle down, saying, "Sorry, but I am the royal announcer, so you might want to try and deal with it as best you can."
She then cleared her throat and said, "I'm here to announce that tonight's dinner will be a flavor berry ensemble"!
Synth, however, felt a bit sad about the meal choice, but luckily, Poppy cheered him up by saying, "Don't worry your highness! We still have plenty of leftover ramen noodles for our raving king"!
However, Minuet thought that now she had an elevated social status, she could try and see if she could make a little "request" mentioning, "But, as king, you can order whatever you want, King Synth. You could have the chef prepare a, oh, I don't know, beef wellington"?
Synth seemed to happily reciprocate the order idea, saying, "Hahaha, yeah, yo! That would hit the spot, and by the spot, I mean by tum-tum," while patting his stomach, as Minuet excitedly squealed while flying to the chef booth.
However, Poppy took notice of this, a bit confused, while Trollzart, who was also watching, did not seem to take what was going on too fondly.
Minuet approached the chef, saying, "Pardon me, dear cook, as royal advisor to the king, I'm here to inform you that the king would like a beef wellington instead. So, please make one for him post haste, chop-chop"
The chef Troll chuckled and said, "Well, you don't chop-chop a beef wellington, but what do I know? I usually am more of a pasta chef."
Mnuet merely raised an eyebrow in response, as the chef sheepishly chuckled while saying, "Right away, ma'am," and went to go prep the meal.
While this happened, Minuet added, "Make it a beef wellington platter! And add a cup of fruit punch, please; the king is very hungry."
Deciding to get to the bottom of this, Trollzart flew over to Minuet, saying, "Ms. Sonata, Poppy and I were very clear about playing your role, and you are not a royal advisor."
Minuet then replied, "True, but the kind demanded this of me, and I am here to serve his needs."
Then, Minuet turned around and shouted at the chef Troll, "I said a CUP of juice, ma'am"!
The chef Troll soon came out, giving a cup of fruit punch to Minuet, who turned around and took a sip from the cup, stating to Trollzart, "The king needed me to enjoy that."
As Minuet flew off to rejoin with King Synth, Trollzart still felt that this was unfair, deciding to keep a careful eye on Minuet.
At Rock Hollow, Val was toying with the bells on her jester hat when she saw Demo run towards her, shouting excitedly, "Val, exciting news: I got a scroll from someone"!
Val pretended to be shocked, saying, "What? A scroll? Cool! What does it say? Because I have no idea."
As Demo looked at the scroll and started to read it, Val mouthed along with the message since she knew what it said, "Dear noble Lord Spikarious, thou rocketh hard and are talented. You are an amazing pal to hang with. Sincerely, ye olde secret friend. P.S.: shalleth we rocketh out tomorrow at the evening closing ceremony"?
Val then stood beside Demo with crossed arms, saying, "I'm really happy for you, Demo."
Demo then said, "And the best part is that this letter came from a secret friend! How cool is that"?
Val answered, "So cool, man. Guess it was written so no one will ever figure out or know who did such a sweet and uncharacteristically heartfelt gesture."
Then, Demo raised an eyebrow, saying, "Huh? But I do know who wrote it," which shocked Val, saying, "Hold up, what? Y-You know who wrote it"?
Demo nodded, saying, "Yep! It came from Lady Musical, or rather Aggie, who's playing the role of Lady Musical. Who knew a Magic Musical Troll could act as such a brilliant noble? I can see why Trollex is so lucky to have her as his girlfriend. Aggie and I haven't been as close as you are buddy-wise to her, but we've been starting to form a friendship together, and we might soon become best friends! We both like Jenga, we are both instrumentalists of string-related instruments, and apparently, we both think I'm cool."
Val was taken agasp, commenting, "But it's from a secret friend; it could've been from anyone, How can you even tell Aggie wrote it"?
Demo answered, "I don't, but when I asked Aggie if she wrote it, she said, "Yes."
Val gasped, asking, "She DID," as Demo scratched the back of his head while answering, "Okay, technically, she replied, "Ay doth did," while pertaining into her lady noble character."
Val, however, couldn't believe what she was hearing, especially taking into account that it wasn't Aggie who sent the scroll; Val herself did! While watching Demo leave excitedly, rereading the scroll, Val sighed sadly, saying to herself while rubbing her right arm, "Geesh Demo, why are you sometimes so clueless"?
Later that evening, after dinner, some of the Trolls that were dressed like servants were busy fanning Synth and Minuet, who were now sitting on dual poodle thrones.
Minuet had also changed her attire a bit, and while she still keep the purple loose dress, she now wore a matching brown queen-like robe and a silver tiara on her head, over her feathery headband. Both Trolls were currently being fed gumdrops, as Synth commented, "Man, yo, it's good to be king," as Minuet sighed in content, saying, "Yeah it is."
Minuet was enjoying this a lot; finally, she was getting the royal treatment and being treated as a high-class Troll, and not like a low-class chambermaid as earlier.
Then, the chef approached Synth, saying with concern, "Um, pardon me, King Synth. But I fear I just inform you that your gumdrop appetite has created quite a shortage in the kingdom. Soon, there won't be enough for the rest of your loyal subjects."
Synth saw this and replied, "Oh my, sorry, yo. I didn't know; I'll stop eating gumdrops."
However, Minuet then whispered something into Synth's ear, which made the Techno prince then state, "Actually, scratch that, yo. As of this moment, I hereby decree that my royal advisor and I request a large abundance of your finest gumdrops, and feed the peasants whatever candy that is left in the kingdom. So, gumdrop me, serf."
The chef sighed and replied, "As you wish, sire," and left to get more gumdrops, with Synth adding, "But let's make it fun; toss the gumdrops into thy mouth like a cannonball shot from a catapult. Tis more fun that way," as Synth sat back in his throne, sighing in content, while Minuet smiled, enjoying this greatly.
However, Trollzart did not seem as pleased about what was going on, making him fly over to Minuet while instructing, "Minuet Sonata, you must put this to a stop. You're making dear Synth abuse his power and turning him into a tyrant."
However, Minuet replied, "He isn't being a tyrant; King Synth is merely acting like himself, and besides, he is the king, and that allows him to do whatever I want."
That made Trollzart raise an eyebrow curiously and ask, "Did you by chance hear it," as Minuet, confused, asked, "Hear what"?
Trollzart then sighed sadly, feeling bad for poor Synth, and for Minuet, hoping the Classical Troll would soon see the error of her ways.
Meanwhile, Melody and Laguna (who were both wearing shiny suits of armor), who were riding Holly and Buckaroo, entered the town square as Tiny (who was dressed like a bard) exclaimed, "Woo, ladies, what an exciting day"!
Poppy approached them while saying, "Hey, my brave knights and steeds, and our adorable bard! What brave things have you guys been up to"?
Melody added, "We went on a mere nature walk and tamed a fierce Growlbeast," while Laguna added, "And we partook in a friendly joust, to which I won."
Poppy then said, "Wow that sounds exciting! You know, I do need help with something, if you brave knights and proud steeds are up for it."
Holly commented, "Ov course we're up faw it, Poppy," as Buckaroo asked, "Sure, what do ya need"?
Poppy then said, "I have set up a quest perfect for you guys to go on tomorrow, and I'll lead you to a special treasure hidden in these woods."
Melody, in confusion, asked, "Uh, which woods, Poppy? Pop Forest is covered in woods."
Poppy then said, "I highly suggest the woods by the old rock," as Laguna then asked, "Which old rock? There are a lot of rocks around."
That made Poppy reply, "You know what? I'll just draw you girls a map."
Tiny then said, "Alright, tomorrow, we are going on a quest! And I'll get to write all about it," while holding his notebook high.
Poppy smiled and said, "Great! Now, before you knights and steeds leave, I'll play you off with a mighty blow of my horn," and pulled out her bugle, but found that it was somehow bent and tied up in a knot, making Poppy gasp and exclaim, "Who did this?! And how"?
The next day, Trollex and Aggie were sitting together, enjoying a lovely picnic together, holding hands and sharing a romantic kiss. Once they separated, Trollex stated, "Lady Musical, I apologize for the picnic spread. It appears that gumdrops are hard to come by these days."
Aggie didn't seem to mind as she replied happily, "You owe no apology, noble Beatdrop. This bounty and the sight of you taketh my breath away."
Trollex blushed and caressed her cheek, saying, "Oh, m'lady, you are by a mere diamond in a sea of rubies, your grace shineth above all. I feareth I must go partake in the aid of my acquaintances in the search of their glowsticks. But it pains me to part from you even for a moment."
Aggie replied, "Oh, your absence will be felt in every chamber of my heart."
Trollex then got up, saying, "I'll be back, m'lady," and kissed Aggie's cheek before walking away to lend a hand for someone.
This gave Val the perfect time to approach Aggie and said, "Hey, uh, Aggie, mind if I talk to you a sec"?
Aggie, still feeling a bit in character, said, "Pardon me, dear jester? Who is this "Aggie" you speaketh of? I am Lady Musical."
Val groaned and said, "Ok, look, let's cut the acting a sec and have a normal conversation, please. I have some words to say to you."
Aggie then cleared her throat, saying, "Sure thing, Val. Sorry, Trollex and I were having a romantic picnic together, and you know how he always makes my heart pitter-patter," and blushed while touching her heart.
Val rolled her eyes and retorted, "Yeah, yeah, you both are cute together when you're all lovey-dubby, but this is serious! You said to Demo that you sent him a scroll that you didn't write."
Aggie, confused, asked, "Huh? What do you mean"? Val then said, "this," while showing Aggie the scroll that Demo had yesterday.
Aggie read it to herself before saying, "Huh? That's not the scroll I sent him. I did send Demo a scroll yesterday, but it's not this."
Val then replied, "Wait, hold up. Are you sure you sent him this scroll and didn't just say you did"?
Aggie replied, "I did send him one; look, I even have a copy of it."
Aggie reached into her pocket and pulled out a tiny scroll, showing a copy of the scroll she sent him yesterday, as Val read it, saying, "Dearest Lord Spikarious, Noble Beatdrop and I wish to inviteth you and a friend to a game of Jenga tomorrow before the ceremony. Care to join us"?
Val then gasped, saying, "So, if you did send him a scroll, why did you say yes to writing the one he got yesterday that isn't yours"?
Aggie answered, "I guess I didn't see the message that was on it. the paper was faced towards him, so I only saw the blank back of the note."
Flashback to yesterday...
Demo was running to Aggie, who was practicing ballroom dancing with Trollex.
"Dearest Lady Musical, did you by chance send this scroll I got today," asked Demo while holding the scroll Val had written to him.
"Yes, ay thou did," replied Aggie.
"I thanketh thee for just kind words. You're a true friend to Trolls of all kind, and I wisheth that we become best friends in the future. Ok, have a fun time ballroom dancing with your boyfriend," answered Demo before he took his leave.
"Wow, he seems very excited for our Jenga game tomorrow," commented Trollex, who twirled Aggie around.
"Yeah. I mean, I know the invite was a kind thing to do, but I didn't think my words would make it sound that intriguing," answered Aggie, who watched Demo happily leave in confusion.
End of flashback
Val then said, "But wait, if that's the case, why does Demo think the scroll he got yesterday was sent by you"?
Suddenly, Dante, who was dressed like a fellow peasant, came towards both girls, saying, "Greetings m'ladys. Dearest Lady Musical, I regret to inform that I think an accident has occurred between the exchange of scrolls, for I have gotten one you intended to send to Demo by accident," and gave Aggie a tiny scroll from his pocket.
Aggie looked at the scroll and gasped, saying, "Oh my Troll, Dante, I am so sorry! I wrote scrolls for everyone yeserdy, and I guess it got mixed up while I was sending them out to everyone"!
Dante smiled and said, "Tis nothing to worry about, Lady Musical, all is forgiven. I am relieved that at least I came to give it to you in time before some mix up occurred," and flew away.
Val, watching this while shocked, looked down at the scroll she wrote, before saying, "Oh, so that explains how the scroll you sent him ended up disappearing, and made him think this one was the one you sent. Sorry about that, Aggie."
Aggie smiled and said, "Tis alright, dear jester. No harm or foul is done, although I am curious as to what caused you to think this scroll was the one I sent."
Val answered, "Well, because this one in my hands...I wrote it to him, because deep down, I felt bad that no one sent Demo any scrolls yet. So, I wanted to send him one to make him feel better."
Aggie smiled, saying, "Aww, Val, that's such a kind gesture," as Val rolled her eyes, but smiled, saying, "Yeah, and while it's uncharacteristically sweet of me, I just...you know...wanted to do something nice for him."
Aggie then said, "Let me and Trollex talk to Demo for you, we shall hopefully help get this mix up settled so then he can understand the actual truth."
Val smiled and fist-bumped Aggie, saying, "Thanks, Lady Musical. You know, you're not just a royal noble, but you're a noble friend too."
Aggie gave Val a hug, despite the Rock Troll not usually a fan of hugs, but it didn't stop her from giving her MMT pal a hug back.
Over in the forest, Sir Melody and Sir Laguna were riding their steeds along the path on their little quest.
"Hark! I believe that our checkpoint is within our dear reach," Melody proclaimed while raising a wooden sword high into the air.
"Yes! Let us commence the quest and complete it in time for tonight's ceremony," Laguna replied.
"Woohoo! Let's gallop laake the wind," Holly.
Buckaroo let out a loud whinny as the two Country Trolls galloped fast.
On Melody's helmet, Tiny was writing, saying out loud, "The knights proceeded into the forest of dark. For their quest is within near completion! Hark"!
Arriving at the location, Melody and Laguna got off their steeds and approached the challenge, where there was a large apple tree, with a sign that said "Find the Golden Apple and bring it back before dark"!
"Keep your eyes out peeled, Tidepool," Melody said while looking around.
"Understood, Song," Laguna replied while looking in the other direction.
The two knights, and their steeds, looked around the tree together to find the golden apple.
Suddenly, something sparkly caught Tiny's eyes, as he pointed upward with his pen and said, "Up there"!
All the Trolls looked up and saw on the highest branch was a large apple that shined like gold!
"Huzzah! There it be! The Golden Apple," Melody shouted.
"Yippie," all the Trolls cheered in unison.
"Now, howeth shall we get it down," Laguna asked.
"Maybe with thy sword, we slice through it like the diamonds on a golden crown," Melody suggested.
"But tis made of wood, for it is not sharp," Laguna pointed out.
"Ovuurr there, y'all! Ayy harp," Holly called out, pointing to a harp that lay next to the tree.
Tiny was writing this down, saying, "Our knights soon discover a harp by the tree. Perhaps that's the solution to have their quest done at full mastery"?
Buckaroo picked up the harp, saying, "Any ov y'all know how ta play"?
"Perhaps if we each take a strum, we can complete it in our own way," Melody suggested.
"Perfect plan, Ms. Song the Brave," Laguna complimented.
"I thanketh thee, care to take thy first turn, Tidepool the Rave," Melody replied back.
Laguna first strummed the harp, which sent an arrow at the tree, cutting through the stem of the golden apple a bit. Melody then followed, which made the same thing happen. Holly and Buckaroo went afterward, and with the two arrows they sent, the apple was almost free. Tiny made the last strum and sent the last arrow needed to cut through the stem and send the apple to them.
Buckaroo and Holly both caught the apple, with everyone cheering.
"Huzzah! Our quest is a success," Laguna cried out.
"Let's bring this golden baby back to the castle for the ceremony," Melody called out.
Working together, the girls started to carry the apple back to Trollstopia together, with Tiny riding on top.
Meanwhile, Synth and Minuet were both heading to the huge mushroom stage, while a group of servants followed them, with the chef Troll stating while holding a large plate of gumdrops, "Just so you know, this is the last gumdrops in all of Pop Village. I had to fetch this out of the remains of what was left in my candy jar."
Minuet commented, "Most pleasing," as Synth then said, "Perfect, yo. Now, we shall go for a turn around the royal grounds once we've supped."
Synth then saw Biggie, who was also dressed as a royal horn player and said, "S'up, yo," as Biggie smiled and nodded back before continuing on.
With that, Synth then said, "Ok, I'm ready, yo."
Minuet then clapped her hands and declared, "Bring forth your majesty's chariots," as a few servant Pop Trolls came, pushing two well-made chariots made out of colorful cardboard and wheelbarrows to carry the Trolls.
Synth and Minuet were led to their seats as the servants began to push Synth and Minuet forward. Suddenly, Synth seemed to remember something and shouted, "Halt," which made the servants stop pushing the chariots, as he asked, "Is it drafty out here, yo? I feareth a chill might be on the way. I think a sweater might be needed. To the sweater shack please."
The servants started to push the chariots again, but when Synth shouted halt to make them stop again, he commented, "Never mind, this to get warmer later, that shall warm thy up. Continue as you wish," but then remembered something else, telling the servants to halt once more while adding, "I just remembered, yo! I wanted to show off my new glowstick to the kingdom! Dear chef, would you be so kind as to head to Techno Lagoon to retrieve it for me"?
Then, the chef Troll declared while dropping her plate of gumdrops, "Cease," before saying, "Sorry about that; it's this thing I read about when we started to do this Renaissance thing where sometimes, Troll servants would rebel against the wishes of their king or queen after feeling tired of serving them. I'm winded of attending to all the candy needs, and food moods, and glowstick shenanigans, and insisting to rhyme all the time, despite how it's so much fun, so I'm just acting in character, and I say, I'm finished with serving the king"!
Minuet then got up from her chariot and flew to the chef, saying, "Um, miss, you forget yourself. Now, pick up the gumdrops or the king's subjects will seize you for punishment"!
Synth then said, "There's no need to do that, yo; I'm a very kind and lenient guy, we can just talk this-," before he suddenly felt himself get tossed off his chariot, much to Minuet's surprise.
The chef then said, "That's right! All of the peasants are revolting"!
That made the group of Trolls portraying the subjects look to the chef Troll in confusion, as the chef commented, "Oh, apologies for the misuse of content. You all look really nice today; I meant we are, what was that term again? Rebelling against the king, according to what the peasants did in the book"?
The Trolls seemed to understand as the chef declared, "In other terms, get the king"!
As the subjects surrounded Synth, who was very confused as to what was going on, Minuet saw Trollzart fly by and flew to him, stating while panicked, "Conductor Trollzart! The chef is leading a revolt against King Synth"!
Trollzart saw this and smiled a bit, saying, "Ah, the classic villager uprising, a common thing that occurred during medieval times. It's quite interesting to see it occur in person than to simply just read of it."
As Trollzart soon flew away, Minuet hopelessly watched Synth getting dragged away, with the Techno ambassador shouting, "Minuet, help"!
Minuet whimpered in fright, unsure of what to do, or what on earth led to this happening.
Not too far away, Demo was busy strumming his Classical guitar when he saw Aggie and Trollex approach him, making him look up and say while placing his guitar down, "Ah, Lady Musical, Lord Beatdrop, this very nice to see you again! What bringeth there to thy area of great music"?
Aggie then said, "Actually, we wisheth to discusseth something fo great need with you," while Trollex added, "Tis true. It's in regards to the scroll in which you received yesterday."
Demo pulled out his scroll while saying, "Oh sure! you know, I am so happy of your kind words, lady Musical, you truly are the friend among friends! You hold friendship of its highest regards, and know just how to make fellow Trolls so happy."
Aggie then said, "Um, yeah, about that, Demo, erm, Lord Spikarious, there is something you should know. There was a little mix-up with the scrolls. See, that scroll you have in your hands? It's not from me."
Demo looked at his scroll again in confusion, commenting, "Huh? What do you mean it's not from you? I mean, you sent me a scroll, right? You even said you did when I asked you."
Aggie then said, "The scroll you had, I didn't see the message that was on it, but once I did, I saw that it wasn't the message I sent you. It turns out that the real scroll I meant to give you was accidentally given to the wrong Troll by mistake."
Demo gasped before saying, "But...if you didn't send me this scroll, then who did"?
Trollex then gave Demo a copy of the original scroll Aggie meant to send, saying, "Well, first, this is the real scroll me and Aggie were trying to send to you."
Demo unrolled the scroll and read it before saying, "Oh...so you guys wanted to invite me and a friend to play Jenga with you"?
Aggie and Trollex nodded, as Aggie said, "I'm so sorry if I caused any confusion, Demo. I felt really bad that you didn't get any scrolls yet and wanted to do something nice for you to make you feel better. So, Trollex and I thought inviting you to play a game with us before tonight's closing ceremony would be a nice gesture and a way to make you feel better."
Trollex then said, "And we thought sending the invite in a scroll would be the best way for you to get to finally receive one, but I guess someone beat us to the punch in sending a scroll first, and the messages got mixed."
Demo then said, "It's ok guys, I thank ou for being honest and coming to me to tell me this. If anything, I should've shown you the message I got first to clarify if it really was you that sent it first before just assuming. I just got so excited and thought that the message was so cool because you always love to say a kind word for a friend in need, Aggie, and I guess I just didn't stop to really think. I'm sorry too."
Aggie smiled and said, "It's ok, Demo. No worries, and you know, while I didn't send that scroll to you, it doesn't mean that I don't want to be friends with you. You're one of the most unique Hard Rock Trolls I've ever met, and while you keep the edgy side, you also have that special softer side of you, like doing the Girl's Night activities, and playing Classical guitar. Those unique qualities, and so much more, make me so happy to be friends with you."
Trollex smiled, adding, "Same here. So...you're still on for our game"?
Demo nodded, saying, "Yeah, I'm in. and...thanks guys. Oh, and uh, one more thing: to uh, make up for any confusion that this mix-up caused, I wish to play some Classical guitar on your next date, to help make the setting have a romantic mood."
Aggie and Trollex both blushed heavily, as Trollex said, "Sure, Demo, that'd be really nice of you," while Aggie said, "Trollex and I will go set up the game at my pod. See you there in 10"?
Demo nodded, saying, "I shall maketh there in 10, Lady Musical and Lord Beatdrop," as he watched Aggie and Trollex leave, hand-in-hand, before he sat back down and looked at the scroll with the kind message, asking himself, "But, if Aggie didn't send this message...who did"?
On cue, Val came over towards Demo, saying, "Hey, Lord Spikarious. How are you doing"?
Demo saw Val sitting next to him, saying, "I'm good, Val. Guess I'll never really know who sent me this scroll. You were right; my secret friend could be anyone. Perhaps I might never know...or never get the chance to thank them."
Val twiddled with her thumbs while saying, "Well...I'm sure that, even if you might not know, or may never find out, the Troll can already tell that you want to express your gratitude. I mean, it is true: you're kind, and sweet, and really talented. and yeah, it sounds sappy for me to be saying it, but...you're a really cool Troll to hang with."
Demo smiled and said, "Thanks, Val. Say, Val, I'm going to go play Jenga with Aggie and Trollex before the ceremony, and the invite said I could bring a friend. So...would you like to come"?
Val was a bit surprised, but answered, "Uh, sure, I'd love to join."
Before the pair of Rock Trolls could leave, Val then decided to tell demo the truth, saying, "Wait...uh, Demo? Before we go, one last thing. I'm also sure that whoever sent you that scroll...is really lucky to have you as a great friend, and if that Troll was here right now, he, or she, would say...you're welcome," before starting to walk towards Aggie's pod.
Demo looked back at the note before gasping in realization and smiling happily, following Val close behind her.
Meanwhile, while this was happening, Synth was stuck in the stocks, whimpering while saying, "This is so not good, yo, and these stocks are hurting my neck and wrists."
Then, Synth heard a rustle in the bushes and saw Minuet, who looked to make sure that the coast was clear before she flew towards Synth, who smiled happily in relief while commenting, "Minuet! You're here to save me"!
Minuet nodded while saying, "Hang on, Synth; we have to get you out of this things"!
She lifted the stock lid, which luckily wasn't locked, which allowed Synth to stand upright and stretch his wrists, saying, "Yay, you did it, yo! Thanks so much," while Minuet, who was a bit surprised by the quick response, commented, "Synth, didn't you even try to escape"?
Synth rubbed the back of his neck while saying, "Sorry 'bout that, I'm just used to doing what I'm told to do, which is probably a bad quality for a king. I can see why my brother makes a better king than me."
Minuet then said, "Synth, I am so sorry I got you captured! I-I never meant for any of this to happen"!
Trollzart then flew up to the pair, saying, "Well, Minuet, it appeared you made quite a mess of this."
Confused, Minuet asked, "Trollzart, what are you talking about"?
Trollzart then said, "Do you really think that it's a coincidence how the parts that everyone got to play worked out so well? When I gave Poppy this idea, we both thought of matching a character with a Troll we thought would best fit it due to personality, quirks, and traits that they could best exhibit portraying their roles. Just think about your friends. Trollex and Aggie got to express their love in a fairytale-like manner, and aid a fellow friend in need as nobles. Melody and Laguna, who have the passion of exploring, became knights. Tiny, who's still sharpening on his writing skills, became a bard. Demo, as a lord, got some respect. And Val, well, that idea was all Poppy."
Trollzart then picked up Synth's fallen crown and placed it on the Techno's head, saying, "And the prince who wanted to exhibit leadership skills..became a king."
Minuet was stunned to hear of all of this, commenting, "So, the roles weren't random at all? You and Poppy made me a chambermaid on purpose? Synth, are you getting this"?
Synth shrugged, saying, "I'm gonna be real honest, yo: I'm super lost, catch me up on this later."
Minuet then realized something about why she was assigned chambermaid in the first place, facing Trollzart while saying, "I guess since I'm usually held high and mighty for being such a master of any skills I try, you and Poppy thought that I could some humility"?
Trollzart nodded, saying, "Precisely, but instead, you took Synth's chance to grow and made every decision for him, not allowing him to express his own creative mind as a ruler."
Minuet suddenly felt really awful for what she had brought upon them; in her plan of wanting a higher social status, she completely ignored the fact that she had ended up doing everything for Synth, who simply played along. Minuet solemnly faced Synth while saying, "Synth, I am so sorry. I felt so upset with the fact that someone could possibly be a better monarch than me, I let it cloud my judgment, and it made me give you terrible advice. Could you ever forgive me for what I did"?
Synth chuckled and said, "Of course, Minuet. Also, I'm still super lost yo, could someone tell me this in a transcript or something"?
Minuet and Trollzart both chuckled a bit from Synth's comment before Synth then said as he took off his crown, "You know what, yo? I don't want to be king anymore. It's nice, but with great power, comes great temptations. And greater tummy aches from eating so many gumdrops," while holding his stomach, whimpering a bit in pain.
Synth then said, "Besides, I'm doing just fine being a prince, and I'm still learning as a royal every day. I can be a great ruler in my own way, crown or no crown. I got great friends, a happy life, a fun future sis-in-law dating my brother, what more could I ever need as a king? Plus, you can only wear that crown for so long before it gives you a headache."
Synth then gave Trollzart the toy crown, saying, "Here, Trollzart, I want you to have this. You'd be a much better king than I could ever be."
Trollzart held the crown, saying, "Your majesty, are you sure of this"?
Synth nodded, as Minuet said, "Wow, former king Synth, that was quite a brave choice you made."
Synth then said, "Yeah, but it's for the best, for my people, outside, and inside this character playing thing. I'd rather stay as a humble and fun-loving prince."
Minuet smiled, saying, "Wow, Synth. You know, I can't help but admire your immense humility, how do you do it? Could you...show me"?
Synth chuckled and said, "Dure thing, yo. But first, let's go to the ceremony and join up with everyone and have some fun."
Synth and Minuet excitedly ran off to meet with the rest of Trollstopia for the closing ceremony as Trollzart followed them, watching the two Trolls bonding as friends.
