A javelin is a light spear designed primarily to be thrown, historically as a ranged weapon, but today predominantly for sport. The javelin is almost always thrown by hand, unlike the sling, bow, and crossbow, which launch projectiles with the aid of a hand-held mechanism. However, devices do exist to assist the javelin thrower in achieving greater distance, generally called spear-throwers.
"Viox…" The voice rang out gently.
The sounds of shifting pages echoed back as two people sat in a small space in the Knights Library. A small oil lamp brightly lit the small corner, so the two could clearly be seen if need be.
"Viox, it's been a week since you started researching this. You haven't found anything that proves your theory right. You hardly have slept as well. Diluc is even worried at this point." Violet tried again to reason with her stubborn twin sister. She could clearly see the dark under eye bags that marked all of the lack of sleep the other was getting.
"Just because you don't believe in it, doesn't mean it's not real. Look, I've been studying him from afar and everything adds up!" Viox said, placing the book in her hands, down on the table in front of her. She looked at Violet with wide eyes, "He has to be a Golem and there's no denying it at this point."
Violet rolled her eyes, a sigh leaving her lips, "Viox, you basically admitted to stalking the poor man. You have to stop this before it gets out of hand too quickly. Albedo could easily make a report on you and then what? You're getting arrested by me or some other Knight." Her baby blue eyes looked over her tired sibling, "What if we compromise on this? I'll let you continue your research but you have to go to bed." She tried to tempt her sister into leaving the library for a few hours.
Viox yawned a little as she rubbed one of her eyes, "I guess that's fair. I am getting tired and there's still so much to learn about Golems. I've barely dented the Clay Golems." She replied quietly. "I can't help but want to know more about them. I truly believe that Albedo is one, just which one? I can't place my finger on it." She said, her face morphed into a small glare at the piles of books and the one journal-like book that was opened for note taking. Dozens of scribbles littered the page as well as some smaller drawings that showed what a Golem looked like based off of the books.
Violet blinked, "You really should just leave it alone." She picked up the notebook gently and flipped through it, sure there were a few pages that had yet to be written on, but over half the leather bound notebook was already filled. Violet had to admit, Viox took insanely well written notes. Just by reading one of Viox's many notebooks in her room, you could easily learn about how to make wines, how to sell them, and more. So Violet wasn't shocked that she could easily understand some of the scattered notes about Golems in this notebook. "Have you tried talking with the guy? Maybe you could just ask him?" She tried her hand at playing neutral with her sibling.
Viox shook her head as she packed up what she was gonna take with her to her home and started putting away the rest. "I could attempt to talk with him, but I don't believe he would tell me outright if he was one. I could ask Klee, she's always around him, but she also may not know what a Golem is." she bit the inside of her cheek, "I could always ask him if I could study him, but wouldn't that be odd? I would have to also get the time off of work to even attempt that approach." She rambled a little as she placed a few more books on the shelves.
Violet leaned against the table a little, "It doesn't hurt to try although. I don't know much about the famous 'Kreideprinz', as many Knights call him." She crossed her arms, "I do know he's been in the Knights longer than I have. He's about a year or two older than we are. He is the reason alchemy is in Mondstadt. He is a Captain, though his title is actually Chief. He has a Geo Vision. He normally spends a lot of time up on Dragonspine." She rattled off some of the basic information she had locked in her mind about some of the more well known Knights.
Viox rolled her eyes, "I already know all of that. Remember, as you so bluntly stated, I stalked him." she turned to place the last book on the shelf before sighing. "I just wish I could learn more." She said
"Learn more about what?"
The twins both jumped at the sound of a new voice that joined them in the dark library. Viox almost screamed. Violet placed a hand on her chest to sooth her racing heartbeat, as both of them stared at the newcomer, with wide and startled eyes.
Kaeya stood with a book in hand as he looked at both of them with a raised brow. "You two alright?" He asked
Viox let loose the held breath as she relaxed, "Yes, we're fine. You just scared us a little." She explained as she gave him a warm smile.
Keaya nodded, "I just came by to put away a book I had borrowed a few days ago. Heard you two over here chatting. What are you guys researching?" He leaned over to look at the open notebook, "Golems? Odd subject for you Viox. Normally you research flowers and fruits for wines. Why the change in pace?"
"Cause she has a crush on Chief Albedo." Violet piped up.
Viox glared at her sibling, before she picked up the notebook, "I don't have a crush. I am merely curious about him and his mannerisms. I have a theory that he may be a Golem."
Kaeya chuckled a little, "Albedo? I don't really see him being a thing made from clay and dirt. Seems a little outlandish, don't you think?"
"I'm not so sure. Kaeya, you know as well as I do that there are many things in this world we don't know about. What if he is? Wouldn't you want to know more about it?" Viox tried to ease the Cavalry Captain onto her side. She didn't want to appear crazy. She was merely studying someone for a theory that could very well be true.
"It sounds really out there, Viox." Kaeya remarked as he looked at her, "Are you sure its not just a crush you have? Albedo is a nice looking fellow, and many are interested in him. I wouldn't be surprised if you fell. He did dance with you, which he never does with anyone besides Klee. That and saving you? He might just like you back." Kaeya muses.
"I think Kaeya is right on this Viox. Maybe you two should just start courting each other. It does sound like he likes you too." Violet agreed right along with Kaeya.
Viox shook her head, "I don't have a crush on him alright? He and I have only talked a total of three times! You can't just fall in love with someone so fast anyways." She looked at her notebook, "It's okay you guys don't believe me. At least if my theory is right, I can tell you both that I told you so." She smirked as she gathered the rest of the books into her arms and walked from the library. She wanted to do more work at home. She took in a deep breath after she walked out into the cool crisp air of Mondstadts main streets. She smiled at a few guards as she walked home. Most of the city was quiet due to most being fast asleep in their warm beds. That and it was very close to dawn. She chuckled weakly at herself as she headed towards the front of the gates.
She turned right and headed right for her cozy home. It was the last standing wooden home in all of Mondstadt. It was a cozy little place, and Viox adored it when Master Diluc had given her the keys to the home after she told him that she was just barely moving from Dragonspine's city to work for him. She was reaching for her keys as she heard her name being called out. She perked up and looked around, only to see the person she had been trailing for the past week, making his way towards her.
"Miss Viox. It's been a moment." Albedo greeted her when he had finally reached her.
"Knight Albedo." Viox greeted back. Albedo still looked the same since the last time she had seen him. Light blond hair that brushed past his shoulders a little, dull sea blue-green eyes that screamed no emotions. Pale skin with that strange gold star tattoo on his neck. "What can I do for you?" She asked as she took a moment to stop staring at the other.
"I actually came to ask you for a request." Albedo started off, "It may seem a bit rushed, but I'm working with a bit of a time crunch." He explained
Viox looked at him confused, "Oh? I hardly ever get requests."
"Are you free for the next six months by chance?" Albedo asked.
Viox chuckled a little, a sign of shock for her as the question was quick, "I would have to talk with Master Diluc. Six months seems like a rather long time for a request. What exactly is this request?"
"I need a researcher."
