Kestrelpaw stared up into Cinderfrost's cold and emotionless amber gaze as the rest of the Clan stood horror-struck, watching with wide-eyed gazes as they all stared at Cinderfrost. "What, what? But why?" Kestrelpaw managed to squeak as she looked at all of the gathered cats in the clearing. "You heard me!" The SnowClan deputy snapped, "You and Spottedleaf are here by exiled from SnowClan," Cinderfrost hissed, narrowing her eyes and lashing her tail. "But why? Did Brightstar-" but Kestrelpaw was cut off by Cinderfrost, who hissed angrily at her.
"Shut it! Who cares what Brightstar says, I'm the deputy! Brightstar isn't here right now so I'm in charge!" Cinderfrost snapped and Kestrelpaw lowered her gaze and stared down at her paws. She looked back up at the dark ginger she-cat with fearful amber eyes. "Cinderfrost, this is insane!" A yowl of outrage rang out through the crowd of gathered cats. "My daughter has done nothing wrong, what do you have against my kit?" Kestrelpaw's mother, a dark tortoiseshell she-cat with amber eyes that were blazing with hot and boiling anger, hissing angrily, her mother stocked up to Cinderfrost with an icy glair on her face and her fur bristling.
"Hold your tongue, Ripplefire," Cinderfrost snarled, but there's no stopping an angry mother defending her kit, Kestrelpaw had been born with two littermates, Rainkit and Willowkit, but they both died from whitecough, which had turned into greencough over night. Kestrelpaw was the only one who survived. "Ripplefire is right," came another mew from the crowd. "What do you have against our daughter?" Kestrelpaw's father, Crowwhisker, yowled, narrowing his icy blue eyes at Cinderfrost. Kestrelpaw's father was a large tom with jet black fur and icy-blue eyes.
"SHUT UP! BOTH OF YOU! KESTRELPAW, SPOTTEDLEAF, YOU ARE BOTH EXILED FROM SNOWCLAN, NOW LEAVE AND NEVER RETURN!" Cinderfrost catterwalled. Kestrelpaw looked to her mentor and with one last tearful glance to her parents, Kestrelpaw and Spottedleaf fled, running out of SnowClan's territory and deep into the forest.
"SPOTTEDLEAF, KESTRELPAW, WAIT FOR US! WE WANT TO COME WITH YOU!" Kestrelpaw and Spottedleaf spun around calmly to see her two best friends, Lightningpaw and Bluepaw, followed closely by their mentors, Icewing and Ravenflight. "What are you four mousebrained cats doing?!" Spottedleaf hissed, lashing her tail and narrowing her eyes at the two young apprentices and the two older warriors. "We weren't just going to leave Kestrelpaw alone," Bluepaw mewed, "And besides, you're SnowClan's only medicine cat! What in the name of StarClan was Cinderfrost thinking?" She paused to catch her breath, then she continued. "Brightstar lost her temper when she found out what happened, but Cinderfrost's two followers, Rosepetal and Mistyfeather, are like bowing at Cinderfrost's every command." Bluepaw hissed, the dark blue-gray she-cat was lashing her tail back and forth and her stormy blue eyes were glowing with fury.
"Yeah, and we can't just let them go alone. We're their mentors," Icewing meowed and Ravenflight nodded in agreement with her friend's statement. "Umm... Bluepaw? I wouldn't say that if I were you," Ravenflight hissed into her ear, Bluepaw blinked in confusion and Ravenflight pointed with her tail behind her at two young cats. "We heard everything that you just said, Bluepaw," said a voice from behind the six cats. They all turned to see Rosepetal and Mistyfeather standing about a fox-length away from them. "And we don't follow her every command," Mistyfeather mewed, rolling her eyes and flicking her tail from side to side. "Yes you do!" Bluepaw growled, narrowing her eyes at the two older cats. "And don't even try to deny it!" The blue-gray molly snapped, hissing and flexing her claws.
"What other choice did we have?" Rosepetal mewed, then after taking a shaky breath, the russet colored she-cat continued. "She's a crazy cat who wants to lead our Clan into darkness and despair," Rosepetal quietly mewed, looking down at her paws as Mistyfeather stared at us. "She's our mother," Mistyfeather mewed, she gave her paw a quick lick before she continued to speak, "But that doesn't mean we like her!" Mistyfeather hissed, lashing her tail and narrowing her icy blue eyes.
Rosepetal and Mistyfeather were young warriors, they had been given their warrior names a few quarter moons ago. I looked over to my mentor, who sighed but nodded her head. "Very well, you two may come with us." Spottedleaf mewed, nodding her head at both Rosepetal and Mistyfeather. "Where are we going, Spottedleaf?" Lightningpaw asked, staring up at the former medicine cat of SnowClan. "We're going to BreezeClan to see if they will help us," the dark tortoiseshell she-cat replied, and everyone all nodded in agreement, and with that, the small group of cats slowly made there way to the borders of BreezeClan territory.
